Came here with a group of six on a Friday night. They were able to seat us immediately. We live nearby so walked to this spot, but there seemed to be street parking out front. Upon entering we were kindly welcomed. We each got a menu and they passed out water bottles. Our waitress was very attentive. Everyone in my group ordered something different. Two of my friends got curries they really enjoyed, another got some noodle dish. My fiancé got a variation of his fave, Thai chicken basil, which he said was just ok here. My bestie devoured some spring rolls. And I really enjoyed my pad see ew with veggies. Our food came out pretty quickly. When you're done with your meal you go up to the counter in the back to pay. Hanging out with a friend who lives nearby and he was hungry, so we ended up stumbling upon Thai Studio, which he didn't even realize was steps from his house. I got the chicken pad Thai, he got pad eggplant, and we shared a fried calamari. My pad Thai was great and just the right heat at level two. Taste wise, it was good. It's hard to mess up pad Thai, and this didn't disappoint. Probably a little chintzy on the chicken, though. Portion size was good. He got the pad eggplant with heat at level three and said he couldn't even taste the heat. Neither could I when I tasted it, but it was delicious. It almost made me wish I got that instead. But there was almost no eggplant in it. The calamari was packaged frozen and tasted more like onion rings. DO NOT GET THIS CALAMARI. We barely ate any of it, and they didn't seem concerned that we didn't like it. This place does a healthy takeout business. Many people came in on foot to pick up their orders, as well as Uber Eats. If I were in the mood for Thai, I'd probably venture elsewhere before coming here, but it's not bad if you're in the area. read more

I absolutely love Thai Studio! Everything I've had here has been delicious! We recently ordered the curry puffs, crispy duck basil and the panang curry and it was all soooo good! The sauce with the curry puffs really compliments the dish. The panang curry is the best I've had, the medium spice level has a nice spicy kick to it but not overpowering at all. The crispy duck basil is my favorite thing to get, but it's much better in the restaurant than ordering delivery because it did show up soggy. It's usually crispy, but it was still delicious. Just tore into my DoorDash delivery (which was super fast, like 25 mins). The pad Thai with chicken is delicious!! Tied with Patio Thai for my favorite in Richmond, and maybe even better. I see some people complain about too much fish sauce but to me it's perfect? Noodles are a great texture, big portion size. Remembering delicious Thai on a past Richmond trip at Patio Thai, Yelp directed us to Jackson Ward to another five star-rated Thai spot- Thai Studio. After eating a Sunday lunch here, we left a little disappointed. It's not as good as Patio Thai, but still worth a visit. Here's our experience: 1) Food: Most of the food was good. My green chicken curry was flavorful and the level two spice was just right. My six-year-old daughter loved the mild version. The mango and sticky rice was huge and good. However, the papaya salad was not spicy at all. 2) Space: It's a no-frills space with plenty of seating. A single restroom is in the back. 3) Service: The man who took our orders is very kind. Pretty good food! Trying a new Thai spot in Richmond when there are already so many can be hit or miss but Thai Studio is pretty good. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, Red Curry with tofu and Drunken Noodles with tofu - all were tasty. We especially liked the brussels sprouts with the peanuts and sweet chili sauce addition. Portions were good and tofu is cut big. Nothing life-changing but very yummy for weeknight takeout! At level 2 this is already really spicy, lol. The taste is very good though. This does come with rice and I hadn't seen that it did so I ordered a second rice side. The prices are good and the restaurant itself is very clean. It is small and parking is street parking. I do recommend this restaurant, so keep in mind that it looks like their levels of spicy is spicier than other Thai food places I've been to recently. :) read more

Lovely authentic Thai restaurant in Jackson Ward! My friends and I stopped by after school to have some Thai food. The food was very authentic, and the service was IMPECCABLE. It was storming outside, and the sweet waitress ensured that we were safe and even told us we could stay for a bit until the storm died down. She was so kind and was very attentive to us! For me, the Panang curry was probably the best. The Thai tea was also great (didn't taste fake or too chemical-like which I have tasted in some other Thai restaurants). The papaya salad also tasted fresh and was a great addition to all the dishes we ordered. I definitely recommend to stop by! Finally had the opportunity to check this place out and I'm sure glad I did. The reviews are right, this place is great! I dropped by for lunch and was the only customer in the dining room. This hole-in-the-wall local Thai restaurant was the savior of my night looking for a Thai restaurant that did not have a 45 minute wait. Parking was a little difficult as this place is on 2nd street; however, it was well worth it! The server was incredibly nice and the atmosphere was very home-y and very clean. I felt like I was in somebody's home in the best way possible. Prices were appropriate and the food did not disappoint. My partner and I ordered: Thai Iced Tea, Papaya Salad, Tom Yum soup, Pad See Ew, and Crab Fried Rice. All of it was delicious! The papaya salad did not have fresh thai chili peppers in it, but everything was so tasty, hot, and filling!! This place is now going to be my go-to Thai restaurant as the quality was just great. So, l just got back into town and was craving some Thai food. I knew right where to go, but this time, something was different. See, I've been here many times before in the last couple of years, so I knew what to expect. To my surprise, I found out they have a new chef and when the food arrived at our table I was blown away! I love to cook myself, and I'm kind of picky when it comes to eating out. Now I've had Thai food all over the city, but I have never had Thai food like this. The peanut sauce that came with our spring rolls was different. Yes, it was your normal peanut sauce, but something was different in the flavor that just made this one stand out. We also ordered the papaya salad as an appetizer in itself, which was delicious. Next came out our entrees. This pad thai had so much more flavor than normal pad thai. It was delicious! The massaman curry is also amazing! If you have never been here or haven't been here in a while, you definitely need to go back and check it out before the lines get too long. Looking for a new Thai spot in Richmond Virginia? Looking up further than Thai studio a cute little probably family run restaurant with great service that my partner and I tried for carry out. I ordered the basil duck and my husband ordered the generic chicken pad Thai however the flavors were on point and very spicy which we preferred. Although we were told three would make you sweat I think even a two level spicy would make you sweat so if you can't handle it just ask for no spicy to be on the safe side. I placed an order for delivery. So I can't speak to the service or ambiance. I am really shocked this place has so great reviews. First up I ordered a mild chicken pad Thai and the immediately after opening the container I was hit with a very strong fish smell. After my first bite I knew something was wrong, it was extremely spicy, I'm gonna just guess there was a mix up but even aside from the Intolerable spice there was almost no flavor to this dish, it was so bland aside from the spice just overall a weird experience. We also got yellow curry, it was fine, not much flavor in it either but it was at least the right level of spice (medium). Handy walk from the Marriott on Broad. I had the Kanom Jeeb to start and Drunken Noodles with seafood for the main. I ordered that with 3/5 spiciness and that was perfect for this white boy who likes a little kick but didn't grow up on chilis. The food was excellent. The very large mussels and very small scallops were cooked to perfection, as were the shrimp and squid, not an easy feat. The sauce texture was perfect, rich without feeling greasy or overpowering. Noodles were exactly what I hoped for. They didn't have sparkling water, so I settled for a Diet Coke, which was served from a chilled can with ice rather than fountain, which I appreciated. I don't think they have a booze license, but I wasn't really looking. I ate in and was the only one doing so on a Monday evening. Plenty of people came through for pick up, including a native Thai who chatted with the server (owner?). Probably not the decor for a romantic first date, but spotlessly clean and clearly put together with love and pride. The service was also excellent. Attentive and humble, not intrusive, with a big smile behind his mask. Thoroughly recommend. The kind of place I hope gets supported and will be there the next time I am in Richmond. It will definitely be the first place I look up.
