Came here with a group of six on a Friday night. They were able to seat us immediately. We live nearby so walked to this spot, but there seemed to be street parking out front. Upon entering we were kindly welcomed. We each got a menu and they passed out water bottles. Our waitress was very attentive. Everyone in my group ordered something different. Two of my friends got curries they really enjoyed, another got some noodle dish. My fiancé got a variation of his fave, Thai chicken basil, which he said was just ok here. My bestie devoured some spring rolls. And I really enjoyed my pad see ew with veggies. Our food came out pretty quickly. When you're done with your meal you go up to the counter in the back to pay. I'm happy to have finally visited this Thai spot.

The cuisine was great. The flavors were there, but I wouldn't say it was the best Thai food I've ever tasted. Although I didn't fully like my dinner, the basil fried rice was excellent.

Hanging out with a friend who lives nearby and he was hungry, so we ended up stumbling upon Thai Studio, which he didn't even realize was steps from his house. I got the chicken pad Thai, he got pad eggplant, and we shared a fried calamari. My pad Thai was great and just the right heat at level two. Taste wise, it was good. It's hard to mess up pad Thai, and this didn't disappoint. Probably a little chintzy on the chicken, though. Portion size was good. He got the pad eggplant with heat at level three and said he couldn't even taste the heat. Neither could I when I tasted it, but it was delicious. It almost made me wish I got that instead. But there was almost no eggplant in it. The calamari was packaged frozen and tasted more like onion rings. DO NOT GET THIS CALAMARI. We barely ate any of it, and they didn't seem concerned that we didn't like it. This place does a healthy takeout business. Many people came in on foot to pick up their orders, as well as Uber Eats. If I were in the mood for Thai, I'd probably venture elsewhere before coming here, but it's not bad if you're in the area.

I absolutely love Thai Studio! Everything I've had here has been delicious! We recently ordered the curry puffs, crispy duck basil and the panang curry and it was all soooo good! The sauce with the curry puffs really compliments the dish. The panang curry is the best I've had, the medium spice level has a nice spicy kick to it but not overpowering at all. The crispy duck basil is my favorite thing to get, but it's much better in the restaurant than ordering delivery because it did show up soggy. It's usually crispy, but it was still delicious. Overall, this is definitely my go to Thai place and I love their food.

Just tore into my DoorDash delivery (which was super fast, like 25 mins). The pad Thai with chicken is delicious!! Tied with Patio Thai for my favorite in Richmond, and maybe even better. I see some people complain about too much fish sauce but to me it's perfect? Noodles are a great texture, big portion size. I haven't even tried the rest of my food (green curry and Tom kha gai) but I know it will be awesome based on this pad thai.

Ordered in for a night shift - and while this most definitely was convenient, I have definitely had better Thai food in Richmond to date. Ordered the Pad See Ew based on a photo I saw on Yelp of the same order and got something different than what I expected - the chicken was overcooked, but most everything else in the dish was great - and they personalized the box with a nice little message directed to me! Sexy Shrimp appetizer was just fine - kind of bland, and not that sexy - although the dipping sauce made up for it :)

Remembering delicious Thai on a past Richmond trip at Patio Thai, Yelp directed us to Jackson Ward to another five star-rated Thai spot- Thai Studio. After eating a Sunday lunch here, we left a little disappointed. It's not as good as Patio Thai, but still worth a visit. Here's our experience: 1) Food: Most of the food was good. My green chicken curry was flavorful and the level two spice was just right. My six-year-old daughter loved the mild version. The mango and sticky rice was huge and good. However, the papaya salad was not spicy at all. 2) Space: It's a no-frills space with plenty of seating. A single restroom is in the back. 3) Service: The man who took our orders is very kind. Spacing between dishes was a little slow when the space wasn't crowded, but still overall good service.

Vegan Drunken Noodle, Vegan Red Curry, Brussel sprouts

Pretty good food! Trying a new Thai spot in Richmond when there are already so many can be hit or miss but Thai Studio is pretty good. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, Red Curry with tofu and Drunken Noodles with tofu - all were tasty. We especially liked the brussels sprouts with the peanuts and sweet chili sauce addition. Portions were good and tofu is cut big. Nothing life-changing but very yummy for weeknight takeout! Also hugeee plus that basically anything we ordered could be made vegan. We are so grateful for that!

Green curry with chicken, level 2 spicyness

This was my first time here and I did an order pickup. I ordered the green curry with chicken and I selected level 2 from a rating list of one to five, five being spiciest. At level 2 this is already really spicy, lol. The taste is very good though. This does come with rice and I hadn't seen that it did so I ordered a second rice side. The prices are good and the restaurant itself is very clean. It is small and parking is street parking. I do recommend this restaurant, so keep in mind that it looks like their levels of spicy is spicier than other Thai food places I've been to recently. :)

I ordered take out and wasn't disappointed, but I certainly wasn't impressed. The flavor was mediocre, but you do get a big serving. I'm used to having a mixture of colorful peppers and onions in my drunken noodles, and this one only had green peppers, onions, and green beans (unusual). Service was great! I would go back to try some other menu items.

Lovely authentic Thai restaurant in Jackson Ward! My friends and I stopped by after school to have some Thai food. The food was very authentic, and the service was IMPECCABLE. It was storming outside, and the sweet waitress ensured that we were safe and even told us we could stay for a bit until the storm died down. She was so kind and was very attentive to us! For me, the Panang curry was probably the best. The Thai tea was also great (didn't taste fake or too chemical-like which I have tasted in some other Thai restaurants). The papaya salad also tasted fresh and was a great addition to all the dishes we ordered. I definitely recommend to stop by! There's a good amount of thai restaurants in RVA, but if you want good-priced, good-portioned thai food that tastes AUTHENTIC, please stop by!

Hands down the BEST Thai restaurant in Richmond. We went for lunch and had the Thai Studio Sample appetizer. Delicious! Then we order Larb salad. One of the best Larbs we've ever had. Perfectly seasoned. Spicy basil with chicken was our entree. It also was perfectly seasoned and scrumptious. Had to finish off lunch by tasting the sticky rice with custard. So yummm!!! First things first, the servers were amazing. They were nice, and easy to approach. Additionally, they gave us a free appetizer--vegetable spring rolls (which was absolutely amazing). After, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with a level 3 spiciness. The food was mouthwatering, and tasted even better. The owner of the restaurant also came to ask if everything was okay, which impressed me. Overall, the ambiance was quiet and relaxing, a day and night difference between the bustling city outside. read more

Wow I was really impressed with this food! The sexy shrimp is simple but their sweet and sour sauce is so good. I got the drunken noodles with pork. The flavor is so good! I got medium and it was a littleee too spicy for me but I powered through because I couldn't get enough. And this was delivery! I can't wait to eat there in person. read more

disclosure: I like to give stars relative to the other food of this type in and around the city. If you were looking for Thai food in NYC - this would be a different rating. In Richmond, VA - this is a really strong offering. We visited on a Friday night - 8pm. 1 of 2 tables - but there was a steady take-out business happening the whole time we were there. The service was very sweet and attentive. When my partner asked for a recommendation on the Kanom Jeeb - steamed of fried? - our server quickly said "fried" with a great smile. How right! Get them. You will not be disappointed. Hot, crunchy on the outside, with a delicious sauce... We ordered Pad Thai with chicken, level 4 and Massaman Curry level 4. We are normally "Indian Hot" if that gives you a reference, and we thought both were just right with levels and appreciated that they were flavor with spice that was cooked, not just flakes for heat. We both thought the curry was less interesting and well-developed than the pad-thai. The pad-thai is much more traditional, tasty, well tossed dished than the sometimes generic big pile of noodles you can get (you know - the pile where there is sauce on some, not on the rest, and you enjoy about 1/3 of that takeout container?) This is not the place to take a date if you are looking for a happening night out, but it's a great place to stop if you are craving thai and you are in the neighborhood! read more

Another vote for y'all to run over a check out new Thai restaurant in Jackson Ward, Thai Studio Restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner there last night. Left is Duck noodle soup and right photo is Drunken spaghetti with chicken. Got spice level 3 on that and it was definitely hot. You know when your nose start running, it's the right level of spicy Delicious food and great service. The owner, Tom is super sweet and made sure we enjoyed our time there. Now until October 31 it's 20% to celebrate their grand opening. read more

We stopped by for the first time for dinner Saturday and it was empty. I wasn't worried since I know they do a brisk takeout business. This was confirmed by the numerous delivery drivers that came in while we were dining. The place is small and was being run by three people. We started with apps and had a sampler and some skewers. All were very good. The gyoza looked and tasted handmade. The sexy shrimp and spring rolls were light and fried to perfection. We had the Drunken Noodles and I had the Crispy Basil Duck. The Mrs. said the drunken noodles were better than our usual go-to Thai spot. My Crispy Basil Duck was excellent. A nice bite of texture while still maintaining a tenderness to the slices of duck with perfect heat and a little sweetness to balance it all out. If you are staying a a hotel downtown, working downtown, or a local looking for a very good Thai meal, give this place a try. read more

After friends recommended with gleaming reviews, I couldn't get service at noon on a Wednesday. Seated and got menus. That was it. No offer for drinks, had to approach counter to tell proprietor we were ready to place order. Another 10 minutes goes by and other people are placing orders, picking up orders etc. 30 minutes wasted and couldn't even get water. Ridiculous. I'll not go back. Crazy thing there wasn't 2 other tables seated. It's not like they was slammed or super busy. read more

Based on the excellent reviews, we went to try it out and had a great meal ourselves. I got Drunken Noodles with vegetables and tofu. My husband had Ginger Ginger stir fry with seafood. We didn't get any pics but here to say the hype for Thai Studio near Jackson Ward is real. Bae and I went for date night and we were floored! Started with the Studio app sampler which had dumplings, spring rolls, and something called sexy shrimp. All were yummy but the real stars of the show are the sauces here. We ordered the green curry with beef and basil stir fry with seafood. Everything was super fresh, including the seafood, and the sauces were slap yo mama good. Like we were just straight drinking them like soup. And they are giving 20% off through the end of the month to celebrate their opening. For my friends out there that love an adult beverage, they aren't currently serving alcoholic beverages. Oh and bonus points for having some amazing Halloween decorations!!! read more

we were standing outside looking at the menu when the owner came outside and handed us 20% off coupons! how could we not go in! This place is some of the best, authentic Thai food in the area. The service is wonderful and the owner Tom is fantastic and down to earth. I highly recommend going here before the end of October ! We got the chicken satay (didnt take a picture), pad see ew, and sexy shrimp. Everything was outstanding and was blasted with so much flavor! We will be returning very soon read more

Took a colleague for lunch and it was first time for both of us. Easy location, with lots of street parking avail. The owner was welcoming and super friendly. She had the Drunken Chicken Noodles and I had the Panang Chicken Curry with Steam rice. We both chose level 3 spicy, which was ok for a lunch, but I like 'hot and will get a level 4 next time. I will definitely go back and highly recommend it to others. read more

Ordered Pad Thai with chicken, Massaman curry with tofu, side of fried rice with egg, and spring rolls. I ate 1/3 on night one then savored the leftovers throughout the weekend. All delicious! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients which is needed in the winter. Nicely seasoned too -- especially the curry. Well-packaged for delivery -- no spills or wet bag. Next time I'll pick something from the stir-fry menu and a Studio Special item. Highly recommend! read more

This is probably the 8th Thai restaurant in Richmond I've been to, and Thai Studio immediately shot into the top 3. We always get Red Curry as a baseline, and it was perfect. Pineapple Thai Rice was also a treat and was not overpowered with curry as others have been. Would definitely recommend and will DEFINITELY be back. read more

So was lookin for a good Thai place near by our hotel and found this gem on google.. they had great reviews so I said why not let's try it.. made Reservations through Google assistant. Got here and it was a bit busy but the staff was very apologetic and offered to take 50% off our bill. The food was 4/5 we ordered he chicken wings,Thai fried rice and pad thai.. it was very flavorful but the pad Thai was too sweet for me but that's just me. Would I recommend yes. Because of the great gesture and yummy food. read more

Wow is a great way to describe this restaurant. We were in town for a wedding and love Thai food so we did a quick search and came across Thai Studio and it's excellent ratings. From the moment we entered, we were impressed. The place was clean and soothing. The staff friendly and attentive. Then the food came and it was the best thai food we've had in a decade. And we eat thai every other week so we recognize quality (and quantity). Their appetizer sampler was delightful and our meals tasty and plentiful. We will drive to eat here again. You HAVE to try this place!! I ordered the sexy shrimp, basil stir fry level 2 with shrimp, side of fried rice, and Thai iced tea for pick up. The sexy shrimp are just that but the star of the show is the sweet and sour sauce for that app. The basil stir fry was amazing! The sauce was delicious and had just the right amount of heat, the shrimp were fresh and plump too! It came with a side of sticky white rice. My intention was to eat the stir fry over the fried rice, but I just couldn't bring myself to stop eating the fried rice by itself. Every spoonful was so flavorful and had just the right amount of egg! Last and certainly not least is the Thai iced tea, think mocha sweet tea with a dash of ....turmeric maybe? I have no idea what gives the drink the hint of red orange on the straw, but it makes my taste bunds happy it's the perfect compliment for the spice levels offered. read more

I noticed a discrepancy between the amount on my receipt and what was actually charged to my card. It may have only been a small difference, but that's not acceptable under any circumstance. A dollar here or there adds up, and it raises real concerns when it appears to be a pattern. I had intentionally left a cash tip to ensure it went directly to my server, not through the business. Fortunately, I kept my receipt after hearing about similar situations happening before. When my statement came in, the charge didn't match. I called the restaurant to resolve the issue, and the floor manager said someone from management or accounting would follow up. Over a week later, I never received a call. I ended up disputing the charge with my bank. What should have been a nice Friday night dinner ended on a frustrating note. Unfortunately, that's what made the experience memorable--and not in a good way.
