I used to really enjoy this place. It has been long standing and a great inexpensive place to order to go. But with the rising cost and better options, I don't really feel the same. On my last visit, I ordered the pad Thai with beef at the counter. I asked for medium spicy. Portion wise I felt like it was a bit on the small size. It didn't contain any tofu either, which was unfortunate. Even the noodles they used were incorrect... more cylindrical and thin than what I am accustomed to, and they were over cooked and falling apart. The dish was also much sweeter than I prefer with no spice. Now I know everyone has their unique preferences when it comes to pad thai, but this was really not doing it for me. The poor waitress did bring me out a shaker with dried thai chilis and even spicy fish sauce when I told her it wasn't spicy. She then made a face of surprise when I proceeded to sprinkle a generous dusting onto the dish. Guess I should have asked for extra spicy! I had Pad-See-Ew with beef for lunch. Very basic meal with no flavor. All I can taste was salt. Very disappointing.

For more than 10 years, Thai Style has been my go-to spot for bold flavors packed into a small but mighty package. Sadly, it seems the spark in the kitchen has fizzled out. My recent visits, including my usual order of Thai basil fried rice (no egg, no broccoli, extra green beans, extra spicy), left me with a plate full of clumpy rice and no flavor to back up the heat. BTW there was tofu in my vegetable fried rice, I have never had to say "no tofu" because it was not listed as an ingredient I needed to exclude!! To their credit, the vegetables were fresh, and the spice level was on point, but the overall dish lacked the punch I once loved. I kept hoping for that vibrant, flavorful magic that made this place shine, but it seems the "mighty" has turned into "meh." It truly pains me to say this, but after more than a decade of loyalty, I think it's time to bid farewell to Thai Style. Our food run has run its course. read more

Not to be confused with Doggie Style or Gangnam Style. Unless you really want it to be. This is one of our favourite cheap Thai restaurants, with massive portions and very friendly service. It's no frills and we come in here whenever you get the chance. We like it a lot and it really gets the job done. Like I said, the portions are huge and most of the food is delicious, especially the fried rice which is wonderful. They put a hell of a lot of chicken in their chicken dishes, which is great for my weight lifting but can sometimes get a little bit monotonous. I don't think it's technically the most Thai of Thai food - maybe a little bit more like Homestyle Thai food. But much better than the crap like Thai Gourmet that most people call the best Thai in town. Besides, Bush won't be remembered fondly, but Gore may. My colleague suggested to try this place. I did, here is my observation: Red curry shrimp abit sweet straight, would be nice to have salty taste blended in with Thai herbs, for me a bit plain straight sweet. Pork jerky abit less taste (need more salt). Presentation looks nice. The area where the resto at is in need of street renovation due to pots holes. Where can you get an amazing lunch for $7.50? You can get that at Thai style fast Food. Let me tell you you will not be disappointed. The pad Thai with beef was absolutely amazing. It was so good it was filled with flavor. They make everything fresh to order it's amazing. I got the lunch special for 7.50. I wish they would've told me it came with eggrolls because I ordered a side eggrolls. They should've definitely let me know because that was a waste of money. But other than that the food was amazing. They also give you a salad and soup as well. The lunch portion is quite big. I can't imagine how big the dinner portion is. I was seriously for after eating the lunch portion. They have so many different dishes I want to try. Service, the service is great with the lady working there is extremely nice and she used to work at Thai gourmet about 10 years ago. So she really understands and knows good Thai food. Really good and tasty Thai food, I just wish the portion of the meal is a bit bigger, especially when you are hungry, it isn't enough to make you feel full (in comparison to Chinese or Vietnamese dishes). The restaurant isn't in the most popular part of Asian town, mostly apartments, lower income neighborhoods, I would think if the owner offers a larger portion of plate of food, it might attract more customers. This place is located in a pretty sketchy area so I was a bit hesitant to come here, however I enjoyed my dining experience there. The servers were very welcoming and provided friendly service to us; so that's why I'm giving it a four star. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and Tom yum soup with a Thai tea as my drink. Let's start with the Thai tea; it was so amazing that I almost ordered one to go because it was that good. The Tom Yum Soup was bland and I know the soup is suppose to be a bit sour but they put sooooo much lime juice which overpowered the other flavors that were in the soup. My entree was the Pad Kee Mao, it was decent; good enough for me to continue to eat it. Don't get me wrong I love green beans a lot, but the million of times I've ate Pad Kee Mao I have never seen green beans on this entree until today. Maybe it's just me but I never seen it before. Relatively small restaurant about 10 minutes away from Chinatown. As the restaurant name says, it is Thai style fast food! Our food came out really quickly, so I was happy with that. However, the food wasn't as good as I would hope (in my opinion). My pad thai was missing the wok flavor that I usually find in the dish and the chicken was a little dry, but overall it was still decent. My friend said the same thing about his food as well. I don't eat a ton and got another meal out of my plate, but my other 2 friends finished their plate. So I would say that their portion size is about a serving and a half, for ~$10-11. For our first meal here, I ordered the Pad Thai and Thai tea while my partner went with the Thai Red Curry. My pad Thai I ordered spicy And so I wasn't able to fully enjoy the meal as I wanted to but the red Thai curry was sooo goood that I had to come back and try other menu items. And so We did. Some of my favorite items are listed below: Pad Kee Mao Tom Yum Fried Rice with Basil Pineapple Fried Rice Basil Chicken With glowing reviews and growing customers, they have recently updated their dine in menu and established a rewards system. On my last visit they were so busy with dine-in customers that even though I was there to place a to go order, I spent almost 30 minutes waiting for my order to be ready. This place is so homey and comfortable. With bright wall paint and laminated pictures on the wall, this place encompasses the small business feel without appearing sketchy. Service is really fast and friendly, giving the restaurant a fast casual vibe. My brother ordered the chicken pad thai whole I got the red shrimp curry lunch combo, which comes with salad, soup, and an egg roll. Us siblings both believe the pad thai was on the sweeter side, but the chewiness of the noodles and tenderness of the chicken is splendid. Good food but watch out even if you order your curry mild. I had the coconut curry with tofu. It comes with white rice. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. This restaurant is small. It faces Harwin and not Gessner. I had a hard time finding it a while back and never made it. You have to follow the shopping strip until it curves around toward Harwin. The only disappointment was the size of the dish. Being tofu, I expected a more generous serving. I ordered a Thai iced tea to go and it's delicious. I'd like to qualify this review with the fact that my mother is from Thailand. I've lived in Houston for 12 years and have NEVER been able to find a Thai restaurant that I liked. My litmus test is always the Tom Kha Gai. If it's sweet, I know the place isn't legit. This soup tasted almost exactly like my grandmother's. It was limey, savory, and spicy. PERFECTION. The red chicken curry was the closest thing to my mother's that I have ever had at a restaurant. The flavor was just okay. The chicken was very tender tho. Pad See Ewe: Now I was really excited about this, but was disappointed. The noodles were amazing. I love everything about these flat noodles. The flavor was severely lacking. It had no flavor at all. I had to add more soy sauce just to get some kind of flavor. Overall: The food cost around $50 including 3 sodas. This place brings back a lot of memories from when I would go here when I was younger. The cashier was really nice and the service was so fast! Amazing Thai comfort food; one of the best I've ever had. It's a tiny hole-in-the-wall place that's popular for a reason. We've been here twice and tried various green and mussaman curries, pad Thai, pad see-yew, pad kee mao, chili fish pieces, and basil fried rice. My three favorite dishes were the green curry, fried rice, and pad Thai. The green curry is incredibly flavorful with a little kick of heat, and the meats and rice are cooked to perfection every time, making it a wonderful dish to warm you up inside. The basil fried rice is also cooked very well, with the basil flavor and scent permeating every grain of rice, which is better than many other places where I've tried this dish. The pad Thai is the same, with flavor in every single noodle and bite. The portions for the rice and noodles are enormous (filling a giant oval plate). There's not much more to say except that, despite the tiny location, this is the best Thai food you can get for the price in Houston. 4.75/5 stars. read more

My brother gets his hair cut next door and my favorite pho spot is in the same plaza so I've seen this place for years and never thought to stop by. Today I had no idea what to eat for dinner and didn't want to go to Chinatown on a Friday night (busy) so I decided to take a gamble here. I always see people coming in and out and they have very good reviews on Yelp (almost 5 stars), so I was excited. I phoned them after work and got a Thai tea and chicken pad thai (chicken, mild). It was ready in 10 min. Their thai tea was just ok, not super strong - also didn't come with ice, which most people would be ok with (means more of the drink) but I actually like drinks with lots of ice so it'll be super cold. The pad thai was very good! Huge portion and tasty, not greasy or oily. Only complaint was that it seemed like the noodles were cut up/in half and I like them long. The lady here was super nice and packaged all my stuff very neatly. Will definitely be coming back to try other dishes on the menu. read more

I'm a fan of this hole in the wall authentic Thai restaurant. It's a hidden gem located off the beaten path, close to Harwin/S. Gessner on Westpark Road for fast, inexpensive and tasty Thai food. The service is quick, and it's a very small restaurant. The lunch specials run 11am to to 4pm every day and the prices range from $6.25-$7.95 and include a main entree, rice, small salad, egg roll, and a bowl of soup. Soup is not included on the weekends. Don't judge the restaurant by where it is located as the shop looks very run-down and "shady" on the outside. However, on the inside, the restaurant and the restrooms are very clean. I came here for dinner twice and the portions were bigger than the lunch size and the prices were reasonable and on-target with other area Thai restaurants (maybe a little cheaper). Some food suggestions to try: Basil chicken, garlic chicken, chicken pad Thai, Penang Curry, Shrimp and Vegetables, and Tom Yum Soup. Be careful, the spices here are pretty true to Thai tradition (very spicy). I love this place. My second time coming here and it's become a favorite already. PAD THAI: one of the better pad Thais I've had in Houston. The noodles were chewy and bouncy, flavor was good, not too sweet. They had plenty of peanuts and lime. I should've gotten t spicy bc t would've been even better. BASIL FRIED RICE: beautiful basil and garlic onion flavor throughout. Probably the best fried rice I've had and I don't usually gravitate towards fried rice. TOM YUM: the Tom yum here is divine. Plenty of mushrooms and lemon grass flavor. Upon first sip is a burst of garlic and spice as well. Not overly acidic either which I love. Some places make it too sour to eat. This is a must have here. Best Tom yum I've had. MANGO STICKY RICE: SO good. The sticky rice is fragrant from the sticky coconut syrup and the mangoes are super plump and fresh. There's a whole basket of mangoes at their counter. BEEF SALAD: I had my doubts about this dish but my friend insisted. She's Thai and sad this dish is really good in Thailand and she wanted to try it here. The dressing they use is so critrusy and fresh. It's like a fresh lemon pepper mixed in with the flavor of the sautéed beef that comes with it. Out of this world. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I'd come back again and again. This place is my go to for Thai food now. The place is small but clean. And the staff is friendly. They are always accommodating and quick.
