Great place for lunch! My work associates and I come once a week. The staff are amazing and pretty much know what we want to order when we walk in the door. Budget friendly place the offers a lot of quality food at an affordable price. My only knock on the place is how inconsistent the kitchen is with their spice levels. They ask you how spicy you want your dish from 1-10. I always order a 10, but the spice level is never the same. I have tried a few soups and they are been good too. Service can be slow sometimes and the hotness rating scale is inconsistent (and really not that spicy at all). The Pineapple Fried Rice is amazing! And you are not going to find a tastier order of chicken wings anywhere in Carbondale, I promise. It's a little pricey for broke college students at night, but their lunch prices are completely reasonable. If you do go for dinner, the portions are big enough that two people can comfortably split an order. Since it's so small, sometimes it can be hard to get a table when it's busy, and it gets pretty crowded. I usually call in to-go orders if I'm getting dinner, and they're ready pretty quickly. I've loved the food here for the two times I have been here but this time was just awful. We ordered soup 10 minutes before our appetizers and they came out together. We decided to go here as a celebration but the waitress was just rude and really ruined our experience. My friends, being her first time there, did not know about the numbered spice level and the waitress was rude and did not explain it to her at all. Instead scoffed at her when she said she wanted her curry mild. She ordered her spice level at a 3 since that is the lowest it could be and it was just ungodly spicy. She couldn't even eat it. When asking the waitress if she could do anything about it she rudely commented on how curry is just spicy and there is nothing she could really do about it. She did offer to bring her a Thai Tea to help a little (which I do not know if she charged us for or not because I did not get an itemized receipt or even get time to view the itemized ticket when she brought them after I said I was paying for all of it.) After we had all finished and asked to get her curry taken off the bill since she was not even able to eat it, she again rudely said there was nothing wrong with it and they cant do that but she would go ask the manager. After the manager took it off our bill she came back and very rudely an judgmentally said " well now you know, maybe curry isn't your thing". to someone who eats curry quite often. I love Thai Taste but this was some of the worst service I have received in carbondale and I would not recommend it to anyone if they receive the same waitress we did. read more

I always get so excited when I'm in town and get to eat here. The Pad Thai is amazing, and I know from my friends that they have many vegetarian and vegan friendly entrees. I recommend the Fresh Spring Roll. It's the best I've ever had, and I think the plum sauce has a lot to do with it. Yumm! read more

Red, yellow, and green curry are amazing! Their dinner portions for the curries are huge! Also love the pineapple fried rice and the absolute best appetizer is the curry puffs. Never had anything disappointing from their menu so far. Only negative is that I remember some of their lunch portions being a bit small. This is Carbondale, not Chicago, so one has to keep a perspective. There are certainly better Thai restaurants but probably not in Southern Illinois. The food was uniformly tasty. Fresh spring rolls, beef salad, seafood red curry were all good, My daughter ordered the pork fried rice; usually I expect fried rice to be a throwaway dish but it was quite good. However, I agree with another reviewer's comment about the hotness scale, 10 is spicy, but not Thai hot. The service was friendly. We ordered one of the local wines and when it turned out to be far too sweet, the server gave us another wine at no charge. Be warned, the servings are larger than I'm accustomed to, we ended up ordering far more food than we could eat. read more

The food at Thai Taste is pretty good. Really it's similar to Thai restaurants you can find in most towns. The biggest issue is the cleanliness of the restaurant. Some of the seating areas are gross, especially the two tables up on the riser by the window. If you are going to dine in, don't take the tables by the window! read more

Been coming to Thai Taste fairly regularly since they opened. A sit down waitress served restaurant with a casual atmosphere. I have yet to get anything I disliked. My favorite it the Pad See Ewe or the Green Curry. The place is very crowded and at meal times there is a good chance you will have to wait for a table. read more

Love the ambience. One of my favorite places when I lived in cdale. The pad thai is really good. The rice soup spice level of 6 will clear any sinus issues, on a cold winter day.
