Just okay. Thai Thai is probably fine for people living in Oceanside because it's more of a to-go/delivery restaurant than dine-in. It's perfect for those impulsive Thai cravings. They do have some tables inside, but the service is focused on handling all of the takeaway orders and pickups. The food - I'm going to assume that Pad See Ew is their signature dish because most to-go orders included that. In some cases people double ordered it. It's pretty good, but you better eat it right away. Our leftovers turned into a brown gelatinous brick overnight. You'll also need to order a lighter dish just to balance out the overpowering savory flavor of their Pad See Ew. Mixed Vegatables Lover (sautéed braccoli, zucchini, Napa snow peas, carrots, cabbage, garlic, mushrooms, onions and bean sprouts). This was very simple and very good. Pad Thai - Way too sweet. I don't know why it took us so long to find this place because it is amazing. We had the Tom Kah soup with shrimp. The shrimp are huge and moist and the soup broth was so yummy, Just the right blend of lemongrass, lime and other distinctive Thai flavors. The peanut sauce with fresh spring rolls was savory, sweet and perfect. There was a steady stream of people coming in for pick up. Obviously they've become regulars, as will I. So we have lowered our expectations of North County Thai food. From any Thai place we always order the yellow curry and pad kee mao. I also like to try their Tom yum soup and chicken wings. The yellow curry was actually really good. It wasn't watery!! Like if you pour over rice, the curry actually stuck to the top, instead of "soup" and water down coconut milk like every other Thai place in north county. I got the pad kee mao and all the noodles were brown. It had good flavors. Big and plentiful pieces of chicken. Tom yum was good too. And the chicken wings, they basically give you a full wing! And it was fried right, you can taste the meat. One thing was, I got level 7 spice and it tasted like no spice. I know they are catering to American peeps, but usually level 7 is spicy... not this. I was pleasantly surprised that this is such a nice find in Oceanside. I'm kind of picky when it comes to Thai food since I've been to Thailand 3 times and really want to have something here that is more authentic tasting. On this occasion, I ordered very common items like Pad Thai and spring rolls and was happy to find fresh ingredients and the right flavor profiles. The service was fast-- I was in the neighborhood and had called my order in for pickup and it was ready in just 15 minutes. While I don't go to this part of town often, I will definitely keep it top of mind when I'm around and want something authentic. read more

They definitely took there time putting it together, rather than just throwing lettuce in a bowl. Lots of cucumbers and tomatoes, tons of fresh ingredients. Wow, I'm still relishing the wonderful lunch my hubby and I had yesterday at Thai Thai! We were literally driving around looking for a place to eat IN (restaurants will again, be closed for in-door dining in a couple days - aargh) and happened upon this little jewel. The seating indoors was not cramped and few people were actually eating in. So we felt good about it. I had the Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls (aahhh, the mint leaves make these!) and the Tom Kha soup with chicken. WOW. Both were so full of flavor! The sweet coconut milk, tangy lemongrass and kick of the chili sauce makes for such a deep richness. My hubby had the Panang Curry with brown rice and a Thai Tea (which was HUGE and yummy!). His curry was amazing as well. So bright with flavor and just enough heat (we asked for a 1) to clear your sinuses, lol. We kept looking at each other saying, "WOW!". Literally, again and again. Each item we got was so delicious. The woman running the place was super friendly with a huge smile on her face and was very attentive to our needs the entire time. She was also taking to-go orders and basically had all bases covered. It was pretty impressive. I can tell this place gets a ton of orders to go. So happy for them if this is the case. I can't say enough about the tastiness of each dish we got. I'm sitting here writing this the next day with a bowl of the Tom Kha right in front of me! Mmmmmm ...... delish! The food here is probably some of the best Thai food I've ever had in the US. Moved to Oceanside from L.A. a year ago and have been struggling to find quality take out. Well this spot did NOT disappoint. Their green curry is full of spicy herbal coconut flavor. Their noodles are authentic as possible in the states, papaya salad is off the chain fresh and crisp. Shrimp are cooked to perfection. The staff is happy, the place is clean, and the food is ready for pick up extra quick. Highly recommend! Thai is NOT one, homogeneous cuisine. the country has four ethnically distinct regions with seven different (Northern Thai, Northeastern Thai, Central Thai, Royal Thai, Jungle-style, Southern Thai, Chinese Thai, and Halal) food cultures. nearly all restaurants in America are Central-style dominated by Chinese influenced dishes. Thai Thai's menu has all the old, familiar favorites, but here's your chance to big-boy up and try menu dishes you haven't had at every other Thai restaurant. NEWS FLASH: Pad Thai and Egg Rolls are NOT required eating. Thai people don't order their spice levels 1 to 10. sweet (sugar), salty (fish sauce), hot (ground chilies), and sour (vinegar chilies) are tableside. if you're eating family-style, season a bite or two at a time on your "rice" plate. check out what Thai-speakers around you (especially groups) are eating. it will clue you into dishes you should try. sneak a peek at other tables after their food arrives. pointing a lot when placing your order can be helpful. WOWZA !!! on the sweet side but truly life-changing. have a curry. the Duck Curry (roasted duck, coconut milk, tomato, pineapple, bell pepper, and basil) is so-o-o-o decadent. the Pumpkin Curry with tofu (red curry with pumpkin, coconut milk, bell peppers, and sweet basil), is a great veggie option. sometimes the kids get Yellow Curry with chicken, their gateway drug to Thai food and still a go-to favorite. the Pla Pad Prik (deep-fried whole fish topped with hot chili, basil, and bell pepper) is another don't miss entree. the sweet-and-sour, candy-like crust is addicting. a Thai Iced Tea's a good drink choice. when the auntie got caught up in the kitchen and came out to say"hello," i told her i wanted to have her babies. ordered at a 10 spice level (and if you read other reviews from Thai Thai you know these guys are serious about the heat). being a regular, they expect that from the crazy farang. ps: three hours since i finished lunch and i can still feel the slow burn on my lips. don't you just love it when that happens? pps: Thai Thai's Northern Larb, Nam Kao Tod, and Kao Soy are, hands down, the three best dishes i've eaten this year anywhere. read more

I've lived in Thailand for 7 years and since then I could not find a place that serves authentic Thai food. Well this place does. Not only do they serve authentic Thai food, it's also Thai owned and managed. I can speak and order in Thai. Everything on the menu is authentic regional Thai food that spans from northern Thailand like kow soy (a curry and noodle soup) to panang curry from the island of Penang. I can adjust the spiciness level with a number from 1 (not at all) to 10 (very). I would say authentic Thai food would be around the 8-19 range so if you really want to taste how it is there get at least a 3 if you can't handle spicy food. It's got a little bite without hurting. There's plenty of well spaced sittings and I absolutely love the paintings on the walls. The staff the place and the food will make you feel as if you were in Bangkok. read more

I was having a terrible day until I went and sat alone at this place, where I was directed to a small table but one that was discreet and didn't flaunt that I was alone. I went in angry at first due to how my day was going, but I quickly dissolved into tears as my time at the table went on. The staff is very understanding, they didn't ask what was wrong but they made sure I knew they cared because I'm sure they could tell I was struggling to keep myself composed. Every few minutes I just put my head down and cried, and I didn't mean to warrant any attention. The staff patiently waited on me and responded kindly when I needed something. I had almost gotten a handle on my crying until they served me a heart shaped rice along with the (super amazing, flavorful and lacking nothing) pineapple curry. The heart shaped rice made me cry instantly. It was so kind and thoughtful, something I sorely needed today. It was only a few minutes later where I crumbled into tears again when I realized the blue plate the heart rice had been served on looked exactly like one I hadn't seen in years from when I was little. There is also constantly peaceful music playing at just the right volume to not be too loud but also you can hardly hear anyone else's conversation. If you need anything, please go here.
