The sauce bar is expansive and has many varieties, including fermented tofu which now on my #1!!! The wait staff is helpful and efficient. What a cool experience! You basically cook your own food, but with flair. The server and the server helper guided us through the menu, our appetizers came out really quick which was great, because we arrived, starving. I liked the crab rangoon, it is definitely of the sweet variety. And you make your own sauces, for the soup and the appetizer, I dipped my rangoons in spicy sauce, 10x better. You can make your own sauce but they also have a recipe out that you can follow, one spicy, one non spicy. Drinks were refilled promptly and we learned that broth can be refilled, but it's only refilled with chicken broth, therefore it blanded out our TomYum, to which I just added my spicy sauce and was happy again. A friend and I came at an off time so we didn't wait. This is the first time I've had Korean BBQ and loved it. There's cooktops on the tables where you can grill meat and cook soup, plus there's a spice bar with all kinds of spices from mild to hot where you make up your sauces. Everything you order is basically ala carte. From different meats to vegetables. We also ordered crab rangoon which was the best I've ever had. Great atmosphere as well. I recently had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed agitated, and the introduction was far from welcoming. The server bluntly asked, "Do you guys have questions or no??" which implied the answer before we even had a chance to respond. Things quickly escalated from there. The server spilled eight glasses of water on two of us, soaking our laps and torsos. We were moved to a new table, and despite the mishap, we remained gracious and understanding, as accidents do happen. However, the service only got worse. Instead of politely placing items on the table, the server shoved extremely hot metal cooking equipment between a family member and me. In the process, sizzling hot oil splashed onto me, causing a painful burn on my skin. I didn't say anything at first, not wanting to overreact, but when I jumped from the oil hitting my arm--an entirely natural reaction--there was no apology from the server. When we asked for more silverware and bowls, as we hadn't been given enough, the server responded rudely, saying, "If you guys keep asking for stuff, then I won't be able to give you your food." This kind of attitude was completely unacceptable. At the end of our meal, when we inquired about compensation for all the issues we encountered, the staff member coldly replied, "You guys didn't have a problem with service until it's time to pay." This was frustrating for two reasons: 1) No one ever checked on us to see how we were doing, and 2) We had been trying to make the best of the situation. We had to ask for refills multiple times, and at one point, I had to get up from my seat and walk to the back corner to order rice while the server was eating and watching a TV show on her phone. To top it off, we were told not to let the soup get to the bottom because it would burn and cause extra cleaning at the end of the night. This was both strange and unprofessional. Youml apologized for the service at the end, but the other lady (of Asian decent) glared at us for the other side of the restaurant which was both awkward and uncomfortable. While the food itself was tasty, the poor service completely overshadowed the experience. This was particularly disappointing as we had a guest visiting from Florida with first time introduction's with us. Given how we were treated, I would not recommend this restaurant and definitely will not be returning. read more

Y'all... I think I've found a new obsession. There are no hot pot restaurants where I'm from, so we jumped on the opportunity to check this place out while in Kansas City. I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty confusing to figure out how to order at first, but our waitress help us out and made it simple. On your menu, you basically choose whatever you want to add to your pot, choose a broth, and go from there. And the portion sizes for each item you choose will be more than enough for 2 people, so we learned! The food was amazing. It took a couple tries to figure out how long to keep each item in the pot for, but was easy to adapt to afterward. You can also choose from a list of sauces, where you can mix and match everything. Eric R. and I stopped here while driving home from Des Moines. He wanted hotpot despite the hot temperatures when I read off my bookmarks while he drove. It was quite busy as we arrived around 1 PM. We were seated and given the regular menu. We asked about the lunch specials that I read about in reviews, and the server had to run to the front and grab them once she realized it was in the appropriate time frame (12-2 PM on weekdays). The lunch special for an individual was probably enough for two people, but we each ordered the meat lovers, which came with choice of broth, choice of noodle, and 5 kinds of meat: brisket, lamb, shrimp, chicken, and beef meatball. We both chose the house spicy broth so we got one medium bowl in the center of the table (but could have chosen two different ones, oops). We also got sides of cabbage and shiitake mushrooms. The broth was indeed spicy, and Eric R. wished one of us had a non-spicy broth option to temper our tongues. I got the house special clear noodle, and he got ramen noodles. The meats were delicious, and we got to choose 5 items for sauce making since the sauce bar is not available due to COVID. We got sesame paste, hoisin, sesame oil, chili garlic, and scallions. I mixed them up in a bowl and it was really delicious. It was a pretty epic, spicy, hot temperature wise meal and it was not always easy to grab a water refill. If you arrive between 12 and 2, ask for a lunch special menu - it really is a good deal because a la carte can be very expensive or too much food if you have a small group. Came in when I was driving through town and it was pretty busy, but not too long of a wait which was great. Service took a while but it was understandable given the crowd, and servers were friendly. Great selection of foods to eat and good quality, though it threw me off a bit that the bbq was served on parchment paper that didn't allow the meat to properly crisp, and instead was a bit of a soggy greasy mess instead. This place is worth the drive, if you live far like me, for not only the taste of the food but the experience as well! I was excited to hear Kansas City finally has a good hotpot place and I was not disappointed. There are a selection of different broths you choose, then meats and/or seafood, veggies, and other toppings, and you can also choose to have carbs like udon noodles as we did. For sauces, there wasn't a bar we could go to but we were still able to choose what sauces we wanted and get them refilled. We got the house spicy broth and herbal broth. I love spicy, and this broth gives the Szechuan tingling spice, but I actually loved the herbal broth. It was very comforting and had lots of flavor. The experience of hotpot is eat as you cook. The soups are constantly boiling so everything you eat is fresh. Similarly, Korean bbq (kbbq) is usually done in that manner so it makes sense to offer both cuisines at this place! We didn't get the Korean bbq this time. Don't let this fool you in thinking you'll still be hungry because it's soup. Trust me, you'll leave very full and happy. I was so pleasantly surprised to see that there was a hot pot place in KC!! To my surprise...it's also a KBBQ!! My friends and I had a big group that went, and they were so accommodating! Service was a little slow, but it was also a Friday night, so many other big parties were there as well. We ended up doing both hot pot and kbbq. We chose the house spicy broth and the tomato broth. My friends who sat at the other table did an herbal broth, which they really enjoyed as well. You can pick and choose what veggies, meat, etc. you want, and can add on anytime you want. I think due to Covid-19, you can't make your own sauces, so you can only pick a couple of sauces per table. The dishes were all prepared nicely and were fresh as well. Yum, yum and Yum!!!! After watching many YouTube videos on hot pot I desperately needed some! The food here was amazing! This was our first time, and our server did a great job explaining everything. We had an array of meats and vegetables! I would highly recommend getting the noodles, they were soooo good! The only thing that I was unsure of was how hot our broth got. In a lot of videos it shows the broth literally at a rolling boil. Ours never got that way. We even turned the heat up! So not sure if it was just our burner or what, but overall great experience. This is the only way to get your moneys worth by ordering a bunch of food to try. I have been here numerous times trying both the Korean BBQ and hot pot. Sometimes I can't pick and we end up getting both. The hot pot menu offers a variety of ingredients that reflect what an authentic hot pot place should include. There are numerous broths that can fit anyone's taste. The House Spicy Broth is a must if you enjoy any spice. They also have dividers if you want to have different broths. If you have a smaller party, there are also individual personal pots as well. The food is spot on and brings me back to some of the local hot pot places I have been to back in China. Don't be surprised if you get a large bill at the end as prices can add up, but this is where you come for a celebration or larger gathering. I don't know enough about Hot Pots to give accurate reviews BUT what I do know is uncooked meat should never be placed with cooked food. They told my sister they only had one to-go box left and put the uncooked meat (beef/pork) on top of the cooked rice. We ended up throwing it out. I'm not interested in getting sick or letting anyone else get sick. I'm confused on how a restaurant runs out of to-go boxes and thinks "I should put this meat on this and send them on their way." Among the wide selection of goodies, we chose 3 greens, 2 meats, 6 seafood (shirmp with heads on is a must), 2 mushrooms, few meatballs/fishballs, a noodle and a starch. And that was good for the 5 of us. There is a sauce bar you can help yourself to. I personally found that the broth is flavorful enough, no need for any sauces. What an interesting fun experience. You definitely should know what you like before going because it took us awhile to decide. There are things that people might not know on the menu. I tried different veggies that I have not had before. They were good. Tofu isn't for me though. They have the best crab rangoon I have ever had!!!! It was so good and I think the make the sweet and sour sauce there. It was a lot different than a Chinese place you can get to go food from. It was fun cooking everything yourself but might take little bit more time than a regular eat in restaurant. It doesn't take long to cook everything but the pot is only so big. You can get a smaller pot too and can cook more food at once. It was fun using chopsticks but I was getting little frustrated trying to eat certain veggies and I just asked for a fork. Ha. If you need tongs for noodles or other things ask for them! It was hard getting noodles out with the laddle. It can get little hot eating all those hot items and being around the burners and such. Dress somewhat cool if possible. (If winter then don't of course, but maybe wear short sleeves.) Be careful around the hot broth and such!! Rhey have both hot pot and korean bbq. The interior is decorated nicely, very clean. I recommend making reservations if you plan on going during the weekend as I can see it would fill up fast. We went on a Thursday and maybe there was staff missing or they are just truly short handed but I felt bad for our server as he seemed to be the only one for the entire restaurant and the place was half full. But even with that said he was very attentive and took care of us. We had Korean BBQ short ribs, dumplings and spring rolls to start. We order duo broths of the herbal and house spicy, the herbal was amazing. I don't do spicy so I will just day my kids.liked it but the herbal broth they liked better. So yummy! My boyfriend and I have been wanting to come here for a while now and we finally made it. It did not disappoint. Appetizers: Crab Rangoon was bomb! It's cream cheese filling is more than just cream cheese and fake crab meat. We also had their shrimp spring rolls, which are a solid appetizer if you enjoy spring rolls in general. My boyfriend thought the Brisket was super tender and he'd definitely get it again but will probably try something different next time. Broths: We ordered the House Spicy Broth and the Tom Yum sauce - both were spicy, but both were very rich in flavor. The House broth is very traditional tasting. And the Tom Yum broth has a very citrusy flavor - might be lemon grass??? It's a bit different, but I loved it. If you aren't sure what spice level or what broth you're interested in, ask for a sample or two. The House is SPICY, so Beware!! If you love spicy food, go for it, but I think that my boyfriend are on the level of only "liking" spicy food, and we decided that if we do two broths again, we'd only get one spicy broth and the other would be more mild to give our palettes a break from the heat. In the end, we both liked to a 50-50 combo of the broths in our individual bowls. Price: this place can get a little pricey but both my boyfriend and I thought it was reasonable based on the quality and amount of food we were served. $10 for the two-broth option, $10 for the veggie combo platter, $10 for the mushroom combo platter, $10 for the brisket, $3 for the noodles. COVID-19: They are limiting capacity to limit the spread of COVID-19. They require masks until you're seated and the staff wears masks. Much appreciated on both counts. Service: It was excellent for us! Timely, friendly and helpful. We were a little clueless but our server gave us some pointers to make sure we had a good experience. And she did offer us a sample of the House broth to make sure the spice level didn't blow us away. Leftovers were also super good.
