We had a great lunch here! Started with the shrimp rolls -- crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked shrimp inside. For mains, I had the Basil Fried Rice with beef (so flavorful!), and we also shared the Drunken Noodles with boneless chicken -- the texture and flavor were spot on. My daughter ordered the Tamarind Duck with rice. I'm not usually into duck, but it was surprisingly good -- and she loved it! She also tried Thai milk tea for the first time and couldn't get enough. The waitress, Blair, is from Thailand, so she can answer a lot of questions about Thai cuisine. We had chicken lettuce wrapped, which was Hubby's favorite dish. Formally the space occupied by Williamsburger (#1), Thai Tree has become part of the Thai-fecta of the suddenly saturated Thai scene in west Queens. I appreciate that Thai Tree is in this quiet part of LIC / Sunnyside, which has been a dead zone for restaurants for so long now. Talk about an upgrade on the interior: the decor is really impressive. The decorations are not what I would expect in a place like this. It's got enough space for groups and is even date appropriate. Shocking because there is not much else on this stretch of Greenpoint Ave. One of the best things about Thai Tree is how affordable they are. Most of the competition charges at least $1 more for various items. They have a super decent lunch special and add to that, fairly fast delivery. The service isn't so bad either, and when they're open for seating, the place can really fit a sizable number of people. Food wise, most of it is decent but I can't say it's better than the competition. I don't find many of their noodles or rice dishes all that memorable, especially compared to the other spots. Pad see yu is solid, especially with chicken. Pineapple fried rice is also solid and I love finishing it off with their signature Thai iced tea. In times like these, I would highly recommend takeout or delivery if at all possible. I'd give this place closer to a 4.0-4.2 overall rating. We do delivery occasionally because it's a bit far from where we live. Pretty good Thai food--and the food is consistently good. We go for the "basic" dishes, but have branched out with the appetizers. Thai Tree's website usually automatically add a 20% tip with no option to change it (this could change after this review) -- we usually tip 20% anyway, but the website should give customers an option to customize tip. read more

I hate when restaurants substitute ingredients and don't inform you of the substitution. I have been ordering crab fried rice from here for at least a year. They always use lump crab meat. Today, they use crab leg meat. I'm a seafood foodie. Two totally different tastes. Crab leg meat is cheaper and the price of the meal was not adjusted for that cost difference. As a repeat customer, I get that we are having import issues with food in general, but I was not given the option of ordering something else. The food was delicious. I had the shrimp green curry and it was a treat. Delicately prepared with a spicey heat that lingered in a nice way. The soup that came with it was a delight. The service was pleasant and made a diner feel special. The waiter made a show out of pouring Diet Coke from a can into my glass, like a spectacular cocktail. They were so effusive in their thanks and farewell. The place is a hidden gem on the LIE side of Long Island City near LaGuardia community college. Mediocre thai food but their spice level is on point. There were too much veggies in the tom yum, taste was overwhelmingly of bell pepper. Papaya salad was okay. I literally stopped eating to post this review. I ordered food togo through Postmates, and first thing one of my orders were missing (duck wrap). I received my credit through postmates, so that's taken care of. Anyways, as I was trying to enjoy my lunch I would randomly get cracking noises during my chews. I assumed that may have added something new like garlic crisps. Then it would keep happening. And then I found bigger egg shells. I'm just super disappointed. Like come on, take your time in cooking. If you saw or felt that the egg wasn't cracked right, don't just keep on cooking. Start freaking over! I think I'm so annoyed about my food that I'm ranting on this review. Went with my mother and its a cute spot with a vibrant authentic atmosphere, we were immediately greeted and sat down, The appetizer were amazing. The textures and flavors were so off that we couldn't finish most dishes. Aside from the Thai iced tea and spring rolls, each dish was wonky... The Pad Thai was PINK, and it was sweet without the tang or depth. The Tom Kha Gai was very bland, and the vegetables were overcooked. It was like eating a bowl of warm milk with mushy veggies. Couldn't finish it. The Drunken Noodle was so spicy, it was inedible. And every vegetable was way, WAY overcooked. Everything that should be green (broccoli, peppers, green beans) was BROWN and MUSHY. The broccoli had no green left in it--all brown. Couldn't finish it. The ribs were very tough and chewy. Quality Thai food in the area has been lacking lately; it seems as though the old standbys have either gone way down hill, closed down, or changed quality. After trying pretty much every Thai restaurant in Sunnyside, Thai Tree is definitely the best choice for delivery now. The food always comes impressively quickly, their portions are huge, and the Pad Cashew Nuts with chicken is seriously unbelievable (as are the crispy duck rolls, ginger and mushroom, and drunken noodle). The pad Thai i ordered with chicken and extra vegetables, it was kind of watery so none of the sauce stuck to the noodles when you serve it it got a little dry. I added my own chili flakes to add flavor then it was ok. Not the best I've had but not the worst. Could be improved for sure. The black shrimp roll things were ok the sauce it came with has no spice tasted like duck sauce sort of. The shrimp was slightly overcooked and some of the spring roll part was soggy and some crispy. This place is a breath of fresh air. It has taken over the corner of Greenpoint and 37th st, the former home of Williamsburger which was god awful. Good riddance to them. I am so freaking happy that Thai Tree has arrived. First, we had no good thai delivery in the LIC/Sunnyside area, as Blue Orchid is terrible. This food is actually great, it's fresh and delicious, and the staff and owners care about their business. I am so happy that this is on the block I live! Their space is clean and updated and their delivery is fast. They also have amazing lunch prices! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and some Spring Rolls which I loved. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her pad thai. Unfortunately there was a fire above this restaurant which just opened, and caused water damage to the ceilings and drywall and maybe some tables. I really hope that they return because we have needed a place like this for a long time, but a fire within the first month can be discouraging. There is a reason for their horrible ratings. Tonight I ordered with DoorDash. Mind you the delivery service has its own problems and I addressed them with customer service . I just wanted to share my interaction with the staff at Thai tree tonight. I called because the restaurant confirmed my order at 7:04 and it's now 8:13. I called to ask if the food was ready and maybe there was a mistake in not notifying DoorDash driver through the app. I believe he thought I was the driver and told me the food was ready maybe 15-20 min ago. When he realized I was the customer he gave me an excuse, their busy. My food arrived at nearly 9pm. My spring rolls had been dipped in oil. Literally bag was saturated. I bit into the rolls with liquid oil filling my mouth. My fried rice was cold and didn't even look fresh and the ice in my Thai iced tea was melted. The driver had an insulated bag he pulled the food out of so that means the food was in the window under a heat lamp for too long. Restaurant 101 food will die in the window. read more
