We finally had lunch today at the Thai Village restaurant. We sat on the patio. Umbrellas provided shade from the sunshine which was a nice touch. We over-ordered as usual because we wanted to try many dishes. We ordered 5 dishes (for 2 of us): 1) Panang curry chicken with requested spice level 5 of 5. The curry broth was coconut milk forward. Veggies very fresh and a fair amount of chicken. I would have liked it more savory and spicy (3.5/5). 2) Spicy (Level 5) basil beef. Good flavor, fresh properly cooked veggies, tender beef. I wanted more Thai basil and spice (4/5). 3) Crispy garlic shrimp. This was the best dish! Lots of sizable (probably 13-15/lb) light/crispy fried shrimp and fresh jalapeños. Reminded me of Chinese Salt and pepper shrimp. One of the best things I've ate over the last month. Salty, crunchy, and spicy...Amazing! (10/5). 4) Drunken Noodles. Disappointing. Noodles were over boiled and mushy. Not their best work (2/5). 5) Spicy fried rice. Good flavor. Crunchy veggies. (4/5) The hostess/server was super nice and provided great service. The new owners are changing this restaurant for the first time in decades and the change is are positive and refreshing for an old Thai restaurant! They offer fresh menu options that will make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Really enjoyed the Panang curry entree with Tofu as the main ingredient. The flavors are really great too! Pork fried rice is also excellent and seasoned perfectly. We have eaten here twice and both experiences were delicious and well presented. We ordered the egg rolls and they were not so good but we ordered veggies rolls and they lacked crispy edges and texture that you're supposed to eat. We gave it another try the next time we ate them and decided that they aren't worth the $12 feet they charge. The Roti bread was well worth the price at $14 bucks! This place is well worth the money and the food was great and delicious. We really like the staff and great service. Great for to go meals for Valley families. Absolutely awful! Stay away!! I am a Carmel valley local... so many better options in the valley. I ordered green curry w shrimp, curry had no seasoning (green curry) and no shrimp, it came with calamari. I ordered yellow curry with chicken, came with shrimp. I ordered shrimp spring rolls and had no shrimp. I called at 6:08 pm and she said give her 25 min. I showed up at 6:45 and food wasn't ready until 7:19. Wasted my time. I went over order upon pick up and realized she totally screwed up our order. She blew it off and said "it's ok it's ok". My family was hungry so I was like whatever. We need to eat. I love the location and the building. The waitstaff is great (I ordered out) so only met 2. The Tom Kha was way too full of veggies and not as much broth. I'm a huge Tom Kha fan so from Seattle to NYC, San Diego to Jacksonville FL I've had it. It was a bit disappointing. We have only ordered take out here and have especially enjoyed the curries as well as the fresh spring rolls. The food is always fresh and we have recently been quite pleased with our meals. At first this place is so beautiful. I took few pictures outside and inside. They only had one guy worked as waiter. The owner was cooking in the kitchen. They were very busy. However, customer services is still excellent. All the food we ordered were unbelievable delicious !!! I told my daughter it is the best Thai food I ever had !!! After a long 6 hour drive from LA we were exhausted, but needed to get something in our stomachs for dinner. The little village that this place is in was just around the corner from where we were staying at, so we decided to try this place out. We weren't disappointed! We ordered the BBQ Chicken Dinner Special ($15) and the Chicken Satay Skewers ($8). The amount of food that they gave us was perfect to split between the two of us. The dinner special also came with a side salad and a bowl of hot soup. The salad was pretty much spinach with this vinaigrette dressing, and the soup tasted like this daikon soup that I have at home, even though there were no daikons in this one. The BBQ chicken was cooked perfectly and the meat was very soft and was very easy to cut though. You also get a bowl of rice on the side, along with some steamed vegetables with teriyaki sauce. The chicken satay skewers were also really good. It came with some sort of peanut sauce and some cucumbers soaked in vinegar and sugar. I had no complaints with anything that we ordered. Our waitress was super nice and checked up on us once in a while. The only thing is that service can be a bit slow, even with only a couple other groups aside from us. When we got in we stood around for quite a few minutes before somebody came out to seat us. Then, we waited a few more minutes for our waters to come out and to order our food. It's a nice, quiet place to go to if you're craving Thai food, and we were pleasantly surprised with how good everything was here. TLTR: Don't come here. If you insist on doing so, check your receipt because the price of the food will not match the price on the menu. Long version: Arrived there just before 7:30pm on a Friday night. Waited at the front for someone to usher us in for a while. It's the pandemic, places are short staffed, we totally get it. But when the solo waitress finally answered our "Hello?" there was only one other table seated on the whole restaurant. My friend let her know it would be a table for 2 and a service animal. The waitress said, "No problem." But when we walked in, she said we would have to sit outside because of the dog. I let her know it was a service dog. She was visably flustered and said, "okay, then you have to sit over there because of the dog." It was a corner table which isn't a big deal but the wording still was less than welcoming. As we were looking over the menu, another couple came in and the waitress told them, "Sit over there because there's a dog." I felt very uncomfortable. My service animal is very well trained and is completely tucked away under the table at this point and I still felt like I was doing something wrong. She came to take our order and I asked her what the soup of the day was. She said that she didn't know and that it only comes with the special items if ordered before 6. I looked confused at her because why would you give me a menu at 7:30pm if I couldn't order from it. She went to go point it out on the insert menu and started reading it outloud and trailed off after she realized what she was saying wasn't applicable. I was very confused. I told her I was interested in ordering the bangkok roasted duck and she said, "I guess that's okay." So I repeated myself, "So, what's the soup of the day?" And she replied, "I don't know. Maybe coconut soup." I said, "I would like to try the coconut soup so was is it or is it not the soup of the day?" She said yes it was but was apparently annoyed with me. After taking my friend's order, I pulled out a restaurant.com coupon certificate and the waitress immediately starts waving her arms saying that they don't accept them anymore because they have a new owner and that they've been trying to call the company for the past year but no one picks up. I told her I had just called them earlier today and spoke to a live person to transfer credits. She acted surprised and repeated that they never answer. She went on to say that they can't accept the coupon or else they'd go out of business. I told her I understand she's been trying to get a hold of them but it's not my fault they haven't been able to reach anyone and they they should still honor it. She refused and repeated her whole story again, putting the blame on the "new owners." We were hungry and tired so we just decided to let it go so I put the certificate away. She asked if we wanted anything else and after we said, "No, just those two orders and two waters, please." she adds, "Oh, the duck is actually $21, not $18. Duck is more expensive and the owners can't get it for the same price anymore so we have to charge more." Already feeling hit by the rejection of our certificate, I told her, "But your menu says $18." She explains that it's an old menu and that some are updated, some are not. I explained back that this is the price that is advertised and if there was an update in prices, it should reflect that. She went on this whole tangent down the list of prices of meats and how she used to get them at price A, but now they're price B, adding that the prices are going back up after December and that's when they're going to make new menus. This ramble went on for a while before she ends it with, "It's only $3 more. If you don't want it, you don't have to order it. I don't have time to explain it to you, I have other customers to take care of." Again, tired and hungry, we just let it go closing on the note that they should probably update their menu sooner rather than later and that so far, our experience had been less than desireable. She clapped back saying she knows and she doesn't want to work. She left us both at the table just utterly shocked. We ended up changing our order to to-go. The food took about 30 minutes to come out and the table who ordered 15 minutes after us got their food first. Here's the thing, I understand everyone has bad days. We're only human after all, but after reading the other reviews, the price changing (dating back 3 years ago!) and attitude seem to be a common occurrence - not just a "new owners, new problems" type of deal. The food was mediocre. The peanuts in the pad thai were definitely plantar's roasted peanuts and the duck was nothing special. The servings were small. (Please see picture of the "soup" container they gave me - I'm scared to know how small the bowl/saucer would have been if we had been served as a dine-in.) read more

We stopped in here twice while in Carmel by the sea. The red restaurant is in a small little center surrounded by wine tasting and other dining options. Both times we head to wait over 30 mins to get the food and saw a lot of people who had placed to go orders wait the same amount. While it doesn't seem like many people work at Thai village the food that comes out is delicious. Great portion sized and made from scratch. Both days we got the yellow curry that is some of the best I've ever had. Day one we tried the chicken satay which was really good. Day two we got the egg rolls which were also tasty. My fiancé and I would definitely come here again, though probably call ahead to order. That being said the food was yummy, which is why we went back twice ! read more
