This was my buddy and I's first time coming to Thai Zaap and our experience was second to none. My buddy did not know what to order or what Thai food was, but the customer service and hospitality from Ms. Luksamee and Mr. Merlin was amazing. They answered all questions he had and recommended their favorites to him. Not only was the food separated and neatly put together, Mr. Merlin even helped walk out the bags of food to the truck. You have to love this place! Hidden just off Vets, we stumbled upon this surprisingly authentic Thai restaurant, and we're so glad we did. They have a great menu with plenty of tempting options, but of course, we started with one of our favorites--the delightfully spicy Popeya Salad, which absolutely did not disappoint. We also tried the Pad Thai and Garlic Pepper Chicken, and both were fantastic. The Pad Thai had an exciting level of spice that we loved, while the Garlic Pepper Chicken was packed with flavor. I ordered Thai Zap Cafe through Uber Eats, so I can't really speak on the service or dine-in experience, only the food. I got the green curry, and I was pleasantly surprised! The flavor was really good, and I especially appreciated that they used authentic Asian eggplants instead of the regular eggplant that a lot of places substitute. That little detail definitely made a difference. The packaging was a little weird and not what I was expecting, but the food itself made up for it. I ordered mine spicy, and I'm glad I did. It had a nice kick without being so spicy that I'm sitting at work fighting for my life with heartburn afterward. Definitely worth trying, and I would highly recommend it. Excellent food and service! I had the Panang Curry and spring egg roll. The Panang Curry was very flavorful and the right balance of sweet and spicy. The spring egg roll was crispy and dipping in the chili sauce kicked it up a notch. The restaurant was clean, cozy and very inviting atmosphere. I've seen the back of the Thai Zaap Cafe from Interstate 10 many times and thought, "I should go there someday..." Well I finally did go, and I'm glad I did! Thai Zaap is located in a strip mall which also includes a TJ Maxx and a Home Goods. It's in the back of the shopping center. The exterior doesn't look like much, but the interior is decorated with lots of Thai statuary and pictures. Looks pretty authentic! I found the proprietor very friendly and accommodating. The lunch menu was nicely priced and included a variety of classic Thai dishes. The fresh rolls were particularly nice, with a pair of sauces to complement them. I had a big glass of iced tea to go with them, but I noticed that there were a variety of Thai tea options as well. I tend to go with Asian noodle dishes, and had Pad Woon Sen. It was quite nice! Thai Zaap is a great little local restaurant that's conveniently located on Veterans Memorial Blvd., just off Interstate 10. It's an easy stop if you are passing through, and is a healthy local alternative. What's not to like about that? read more

I have eaten here for years and used to give this place very high recommendations. As the saying goes, All good things come to an end." The lady that used to run the front was all the personality and is gone. The new guy is good, but kurt - he displays all the restaurants dirty laundry in front of customers. That by itself would not stop me from coming though. So after 3 years, what stops me from coming? I was served a partially frozen appetizer. Accidents happen, I sent it back. After hearing the fight this caused in the kitchen, I said don't worry about it. Then I hear the lady in kitchen screaming about what customer has a problem with this and cursing out the waiter. I was waiting g for her to come out and want to fight me or something. The guy tried to talk her down but she wasn't having it. Then our main food comes out. My wife's basil fried rice was Al messed up. She has ordered this dish a couple dozen times. This dish was served with a portion of not giving a shit. But at least it the chicken cooked. The onions were burnt edges and under cooked. This dish was not seasoned at all - no spice and no basil. My wife was not happy at all. My yellow curry came out just fine. I suspect that dish is made before hand and then reheated because there is no way the kitchen staff that day got it right. I've been her probably 30 times or so. That was my last one. read more

Disappointed- ordered due to an Uber Eats deal as I wanted to try this place seeing high reviews. Ordered the spring rolls $11.70 for what is 2 rolls cut in 3 pieces. It was good but not $11.70 good. $6-7 sure. Also ordered the chicken pad thai- medium spice arrived with zero spice. How does a Thai restaurant screw up spice? It was ok.. nothing to write home about. It arrived about 20 min after it was picked up- it was still hot. Portion wise- I'd say it was comparable to most places anymore.. enough for a meal and maybe small snack later. I probably won't order from there again. Too many good restaurants in the area to eat mediocre on a Friday night during non-peak hours. I doubt there was a rush on food. read more

I LOVE the soups (Tom Kai, Tom Yum) as well as the Green Papaya Salad, which is a must-every time! I've had multiple entrees and the part of the menu labeled Chef's Picks is all amazing!!! They reworked their Pad Thai, sauce is excellent and saucy. Add lime, it balances it out. Noodles were a tad thinner, which I like. Overall it ranks 3rd on my list of Pad Thai. Thank you for another enjoyable meal. read more

A tucked away gem in Metairie. Well worth the stop when shopping. The food is about as authentic as you can get in the states outside of a home kitchen. Never had anything bad. The Massaman curry is my current favorite. All made to order on the spot. The place looks good and the service is spot on. Highly recommend. Be warned. The "Thai hot" is spicy. Not a fan. The biggest complaint was my dish came out almost 15 mins after my wife's! I had curry. If it takes longer, then hold the other orders for the same table till they all are ready. My wife's cashew nut dish was very different than any she's ever had (and she gets it a lot). She said it tasted like watered down BBQ sauce (not the normal savory brown sauce...but that could be chalked up to regional styles). She wanted more veggies & the waitress offered broccoli, baby corn, & bamboo shoots. It ended up being $5 more on the bill. Again, if adding things costs more, ok, but let people know up front. Stopped in for lunch. I grew up in Chicago, where there is an embarrassment of riches where Thai food is concerned. However, in New Orleans, it is just an embarrassment. There are a few decent options, but I've been on a quest to find something that reminds me of the Thai food in Chicago. This is it. The space is just a hole in the wall and a strip mall. but the food and service were outstanding. I ordered the pad woon sen lunch special, which came with one fried spring roll. For an appetizer, I got a fresh veggie roll. The fresh roll was stuffed with mint, as it should be. It came with plum AND peanut sauce. This was so delicious and refreshing. The vegetarian pad woon sen was delectable and tangy, with chunky veggies and egg. I asked for hot sauce and they brought out a caddy with authentic chili garlic sauce AND the good, fine type of crushed chili flakes. This is when I knew I was dealing with authentic Thai. The server was attentive, polite, and professional. I might start driving to Metairie to run errands just to eat here. Five stars. read more

After shopping in the nearby stores, my family and I decided to try out this restaurant. What a great choice we made!! We were immediately greeted and sat down. The owner and staff are extremely kind and attentive. I even noticed that frequent customers would come in and they were always greeted so nicely. As for the food.... It was phenomenal! We started with a seafood salad (not fully pictured) and the crispy spring rolls. The owner gave us extra sauce! The spring rolls were hot and crispy and the seafood salad was fresh and had great taste. We then split a large bowl of tok khar (coconut chicken soup with great aroma and so creamy) and we also had a plate of Pad Thai. Can't ever go wrong with Pad Thai! Ordered the red pineapple curry (very watery) and the Thai chicken (the sauce cap melted and so all the sauce spilled all over the box in the take out bag. I would love to leave a review on Thai Zaap's food, but I never got past the terrible customer service. I have a soy allergy, so each restaurant I go to, I have to call and see what oil they use, so I can figure out what to order. It's especially hard finding restaurants that don't use soybean oil since food prices are so high. I called Thai Zap and a woman answered the phone and said they use vegetable oil. Most vegetable oils are soybean, but some are combos of different kinds. I asked if she would please check and she said, "I told you vegetable and that is my answer. I think you can do better cooking for yourself." It was disappointing, but I ended up at Cafe Equator and they took care of me. Moral of the story, if you have food allergies, just skip this place, they will not accommodate or even inform you of their allergens, which is pretty careless. read more

I ordered dinner from here for the family one night and got it delivered. We shared some appetizers, Crispy Spring Rolls $8.00 for 5 count and Thai Zaap Chicken Wing $9.00 for 5 count. The spring rolls were okay, pretty basic nothing special. The chicken wings were also just okay, good crunchy breading but again pretty generic. For my entrée I got the Shrimp Pad Thai $18.00. This was quite flavorful overall but the ratio of shrimp to everything else was a little off to me. Overall it was okay, a little pricey for what it is but not bad in a pinch. read more

Really enjoyed our lunch here! First off, any restaurant that starts with something complimentary always gets an extra plus in my book. They served us spring rolls with a sweet sauce in the cutest yin and yang dishes! The Panang curry was delicious. It had all the classic herby flavors and vegetables to top it off. I ordered mine spicy and it was perfect, but for my taste I'll probably get extra spicy next time since I would've liked a little more heat. I'll also probably add eggplant next time bc I wasn't a huge fan of the sliced corn, could've used a bit more variety in veggies. The drunken noodles stole the show. The meat was very tender and saucy, with delicious veggies, and the flat noodles were great texture and taste. I put a bit of this into my panang curry and it was sooo yummy! Definitely recommend. Also really cute decor, very calming and zen with nods to the culture. Great service as well, quick and attentive! I regularly order delivery from this restaurant. Tried something new last night, beef salad. Knocked my socks off. Who would have thought? Salad is usually yucky next day.
