    Pad See Ew
    Regina W.

This place really exceeded my expectations! We wanted some casual Thai food for dinner, rather than the expensive instagrammy type places that are a dime a dozen in this city. I wasn't expecting much but this place delivered. The pad see ew was delicious and very flavorful. I always order pad see ew when trying a new place as a benchmark and this passed! We also ordered the spicy basil fried rice with crispy chicken. The chicken was tender on the inside and paired great with the fried rice. The service was very friendly and attentive and the floral decor inside is very cute! The price to taste ratio here is great! I would definitely come back next time I've craving Thai!

A cozy, casual Thai restaurant in Caroll Gardens. The interior is charming, with florals covering the ceiling. My sister and I went here for lunch special, and included was salad, our choice of appetizer (she got bankok wings, and I got the spring roll) and our choice of entree (we both got chicken pad see ew). We both enjoyed our appetizers, but the peanut sauce for the salad was quite heavy. The chicken pad see ew was tasty and a decent size for the lunch special. I also ordered the lychee lemonade, which was just okay, though I didn't really taste any lemonade in it though. Overall a nice spot for casual Thai food.

About 3 - 3.5 Still holding its own after all these years. I took a long pause from Thaism due to the inconsistency of the food quality. Yes, I sang its praises in a previous review but shortly thereafter my opinion changed. I felt that the food became mediocre--better at times but not great on other occasions. Passed by a few days ago when a chalkboard signage outside mentioning lunch special for $12.95 lured us in. The menu was limited but enough choices for lunch. We both chose salad (instead of soup) with Steamed vegetable dumplings (count of 3) for appetizer. Our mains were the same--Sweet and Sour Chicken. The lunch special value increases depending on selected protein (example shrimp). The main portion was generous/sufficient for lunch and overall, everything was pretty good and satisfying. Sweet and Sour Chicken tends to be too sweet for my liking and this was no exception. I normally don't order this entree and shook off the excess gravy. There might be a new owner in place but I'm not sure. The interior was much more decorated with garlands of fake flowers which was appealing/nice touch. Overall a good choice if stuck on lunch choices and looking to keep cost at a minimum. I'll return again.

I stopped by Thaism around 3:15pm on a Wednesday since I had business in the area. Their lunch special runs until 4pm, and it's a great deal! I was the only person in the restaurant the entire time. The ceiling is decked out with hanging orchids, which gives the space a nice aesthetic. The restaurant seats around 25 people, so it is on the smaller side. The in-person lunch special is $12.95, and it comes with soup or salad and one side. That is a rare steal these days! I ordered pad see ew with salad and the chive pancake. I enjoyed the peanut dressing that came with the salad, but I hate raw onions and had to pick those out. For the chive pancake, the inside of the pancake was a soggy texture. I prefer to have the crispy texture throughout. I also felt like the pancake needed more seasoning. I typically enjoy this without sauce but I needed the soy sauce because it was bland. The pad see ew sauce tasted like pad thai sauce instead of black bean sauce. My first bite was also heavy on the fish sauce! I like pad thai sauce, so I thought the dish was fine, but just a heads up for people who aren't a fan of fish sauce. I had my water refilled and got checked in on, so service was nice. Overall, there were some flavor misses that won't make this my favorite Thai restaurant in Brooklyn. However, I think the deal is great, so if you are in the area for lunch, check out Thaism!

Get the curry puffs over the chicken satay for an appetizer. It had a great amount of filling. The satay skewers were slightly dry and bland. The crab meat fried rice was delicious. I love the flavor of the Tom Yum in it. The Garlic Noodle also tasted like Pad See Ew but with garlic. It uses the same flat noodle and has the same chewiness! The Mango Sunrise mocktail tasted like a mango piña colada. It was tropically refreshing! We finished the meal with Mango Sticky Rice and the mango was in season for sure! The waitress was wonderful and the inside is floral and a beautiful space.

This restaurant had been on my list for a while and then I saw some really beautiful photos of some of the recent dishes so we decided to go for dinner. The space itself is quaint, yet beautifully, decorated with flowers murals and small touches that create the ambience you'd really like for a night out. The service is incredibly friendly, pretty and they allow you to enjoy your visit without hovering. The food is pretty good. I like my dish and my friend's dish as well. My only issue was my basil crab fried Rice didn't have nearly any of the ingredients deferentiating it from the others listed on the menu. Had I known most of those items, like the broccoli would not be in the basil fried rice, I would have gone with the original. Next time!

I loved it here! The staff were very kind and the portions were huge. They offer happy hour deals & lunch specials if you're looking for a good deal. I loved the curry - the coconut flavor wasn't overpowering and it was a comforting meal. I would totally recommend this place if you're in the area! It's also beautifully decorated, perfect for a date night.

I love Thai and couldn't wait to try. When I arrived I found parking right in front. I walked into a cute restaurant. I was served by Silly and Pam, and they were nice! We started with the drinks of the long island, and my friend had a yummy looking cocktail. For our appetizers, I got the curry puffs, and my friend got the wings. It came out quickly, and the wings tasted good with the chili sauce. I enjoyed the curry puffs! For our meal, I got the hot sweet basil red snapper, and my friend got the drunken noodle with shrimp. Both of those dishes came out quickly, too! I really enjoyed my snapper, and my friend enjoyed her noodles. We lastly had dessert of the tiramisu cake and that was delicious! All in all, we had a really great experience!

On a Saturday evening, we ventured in for dinner. We ordered the ginger tea which was warming -- and it came out at the same time as our edamame appetizer. I appreciated they had labeled the menu with what was gluten free and ordered the lemongrass Tom Yum soup with chicken - it was a bit spicy by tasty. I had the shrimp and avocado curry -- it was so flavorful and delicious! My husband had the salmon curry which was a mix of tasty vegetables with salmon on top. The servers came by regularly to see if we needed anything and refilled our water. If looking for Thai food in Cobble Hill / Carroll Gardens, this would be a top choice.

This spot was cute with flowers hanging from the ceiling and a mural on the wall! The service was fast and the owner came up to us to check in on our experience. The food was yummy! My fav dishes were the Crispy Duck Roll, the Massaman Curry with Coconut Sticky Rice and the Mango Mousse Cake

I really enjoyed dining at Thaism in Carroll Gardens. Everything I had here was delicious and I loved the beautiful floral aesthetic and great customer service. Here's what I had on the menu : The Mojito The Margarita Coconut Fried Shrimp Fried Calamari Crab Meat Pineapple Fried Rice (You can get it without egg as well) My favorite dish was the Crab Meat Pineapple Fried Rice. The crab meat was delicious, and the pineapple fried rice was cooked to perfection , I would highly recommend it. They also a great happy hour and lunch menu. It's the perfect restaurant to have a nice lunch or dinner, I would highly recommend Thaism.

Ordered lunch from here via Seamless and was excited and then my hopes were lost. On a good note, the packaging is good. The food is secure and there was a fork and knife included. When I ordered the food, I wrote no egg and peanuts, and upon opening, there were eggs and peanuts. I picked out all the peanuts from the dish, when I shouldn't have had to. In addition to this, the rice wasn't as flavorful as it could. The vegetables and the crab meat are what saved this dish.

Our group of 4 started with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a few appetizers to share, namely: Som tum papaya salad and dumplings curry. For the main entree, my eyes caught the attention of clay pot mix-fried rice with shrimp, chicken, sweet sausage, and my partner chose shrimp pad thai. Nothing really stood out with the dishes; I found it to be a bit Americanized, having eaten in so many Thai restaurants around New York City. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here; our food came in timely fashion, and the customer service is good as well, but it's probably not your place if you are seeking a more authentic Thai-style cooking.

PLEASE get the mango stick rice cocktail omg it was gone in like 5 sips because it was so good. The tuna ceviche was so refreshing and the sauce had a little kick to it which I absolutely loved! It was like a sprinkle of Thai on a classic tuna ceviche. Note the taro chips are a little thicker than a typical chip! The pork jowl wasn't as crispy as I expected but it was still flavorful and the portion size was huge, considering how it was an appetizer. We got pineapple lychee crispy duck, crab fried rice, and kana crispy pork over rice as our entree. ALL WERE SO GOOD! The curry for the pineapple lychee crispy duck was so creamy and flavorful, with the duck portion being huge and being the perfect texture. I loved that it was crispy and didn't get soggy fast in the curry. The crab fried rice was top tier as there were SO MANY HUGE CRAB PIECES!! You can definitely tell that it had flavors of seafood/crab.. they did not skimp out! And the kana crispy pork over rice was huge portion as well, but note that it was a big strong/saltier than the other dishes. For dessert, the pandan coconut pudding custard was SO yummy. It was warm and so flavorful and creamy!! I fell in love with Brooklyn even more after coming here. Highly recommend!!

I feel differently about Hungry Thirsty. At this point I've been to countless Thai restaurants, and for the most part they've all been fantastic. Compared to all those fantastic meals the flavors here still stand out and I'm excited to read that they're expanding with additional locations. They have a phenomenal and lengthy beer selection, which is fun because it complements the spicy fried dishes quite well. The fried branzino and shrimp and squid in salted duck yolk were very tasty with white rice but the dish that lit up my taste buds was the Kai Jeow Pu- colossal crab omelette. The egg was deep fried in an aromatic oil and filled with fresh, large pieces of crab and served with a phenomenal zesty sauce. The place is tiny and no frills, and our server chafed at my partner for pronouncing a beer on their menu incorrectly, which just added to the experience. I loved it here!

I enjoyed the food and the event so much that I've returned and told others to go as well. What I like the most is that Chiangmai's expansive menu showcases aspects of Thai cuisine that you're probably not getting at your neighborhood spot. Many items are Northern Thai style dishes. I'd never had Khao Soi before coming here and I was blown away. The chiangmai sausage is also delicious. The roasted duck curry boasts deep flavor while also maintaining the crispiest duck skin. For appetizers, we started with the crispy salmon belly bites and the moo ping. Frying salmon is risky, but the fattiness of the belly keeps it from drying out. The moo ping is nicely grilled and served with a sweet sauce. You just can't go wrong ordering meat on a stick. As an entree, I tried the Gaeng Awm Nur, a soup-like beef dish served with a side of sticky rice. Our server had been really nice and welcoming, so I felt ok asking how I should eat my meal. She advised that I make a ball of some sticky rice with my hand, mash it a bit, and then dip it into the soup. Thai food achievement unlocked! Now I know what to do next time I'm served sticky rice. There's so much on the menu it can be hard to choose. This is encouragement to go with someone else who enjoys food so you can choose things to share! You won't be disappointed and in fact may find that your regular Thai spots could step up their game in comparison.
