It was a hot, humid day at the Maunakea Marketplace, and the heat must've played with my head because I showed off my ignorance yet again. Despite knowing otherwise, I was insisting ube and taro were the same thing. I mean they're both purple, right? I asked for an ube smoothie but was told they didn't serve it. When I pointed to the menu photo, I was determined to prove they have it. I was then schooled that they are two different fruits. Heated and humiliated, I ordered the $6.50 Taro with Pearls (Photo 5). That was it. That was what I wanted. The taste of purple. DRINK - 4 stars...tastes like ube, plenty of boba AMBIANCE - 3 stars...Hawaiian heat in a patio setting SERVICE - 4 stars...didn't make me feel too stupid TOTAL - 4 stars...aren't ube and taro the same thing? Great fruit bubble drinks. Made from fresh fruits, loaded with fruit pulp and juice. A bit too sweet for me but a great drink. Inside the Chinatown "mall" with Chinese singer serenading you under umbrellas...quite the setting to enjoy the drinks!

ORDER mango + pineapple (5/5) SOOO GOOD! best smoothie ever. you can mix and match the fruit to make the perfect combo. the smoothies are made with fresh fruit and are perfectly sweet. must try, if you're in hawaii GOGOGO!!! the boba is super bad tho, maybe skip on that.. SERVICE quick and friendly :)) AMBIANCE street parking available

We were walking around Chinatown getting ready to enjoy our dim sum haul from sing cheong yuan when I came upon this little smoothie shop. I was feeling a drink seeing all the fresh fruit stands that also made drinks and decided on Thanh. They are a cash only institute but luckily there's an atm around the corner from the smoothie shop, most smoothies were 7.50 with boba but I decided to skip the pearls so I could enjoy more lychee mango smoothie! Drinks are made to order and surprisingly they use fresh fruit for every smoothie (I think there's one smoothie that's not fresh fruit but they tell you if it's not). The fruit is very fresh and sweet and this might be the first time I got a lychee smoothie that used real lychee! Usually it's an artificial lychee flavor and I had it mixed with mango as well. The man behind the counter was super friendly and made the drinks quickly. Would definitely recommend coming here to get your fresh smoothie/boba fill!

STILL MY FAVORITE!!! $7 for a large (one size) mango smoothie! We typically opt no pearls, but it's not extra

The drinks here are awesome. All fruit smoothie boba drinks use REAL fruit and not the powdered stuff. Not too sweet and the boba is soft and chewy with a brown sugar flavor. Delicious. Service is quick. It's located in the Maunakea Marketplace with lots of seating options.

Thanh French Coffee & Bubble Drinks located inside of Maunakea Market Place. This is the only place I get my bubble drinks from. Super Friendly Owners always smiling and happy to help you. So many choices of Bubble Drinks to choose from you can make different drinks by adding another flavor.

Located in the Maunakea Marketplace pop on on your way to work for a smoothie or coffee. You'll find this little shop along the center circle. Your pick of smoothies with boba.

Yummy refreshing tropical and regular fruit smoothies w boba in the Mauna Kea shopping center. They have everything from strawberry to exotic tropical fruit like lychee, mango, etc. they also have blended Vietnamese coffee one I wish it wasn't too late for. Owners were very kind.

On a hot day in Chinatown, nothing is more refreshing than the fresh watermelon juice blended to order at Thanh's. The menu is huge, but I would make my decision based on the fresh cut fruits in their case and specify you only want fresh fruit (they may charge more, but it's worth it!) Seek out this hidden treasure to quench your thirst!

Went to Thanh's to get a smoothie. Owner was really nice and accommodating. At the time, I had only wanted a mango smoothie and saw that they also did peach as well so I had asked the owner if I could get a mix of a peach/mango smoothie. She complied with my wishes and served me my drink. The smoothie was amazing and you could really taste the freshness of the fruits. The boba wasn't too sweet but it wasn't too mushy or hard either. It was definitely worth the price for what it costed and I 100% regret not getting another one. I definitely will be coming back to try the other options that they offer. Ordered: Mango/Peach Smoothie with Boba

    Pennywort!

Fresh fruit smoothies in Honolulu's Chinatown... My car thermometer read 95 degrees and my phone told me that it was 88 degrees outside. Either way, it was hot as an oven! I was baked! Since it was Sunday, I had free street parking in a metered stall. I walked through Maunakea Marketplace to one of the outdoor vendors named Thanh Coffee and Bubble Tea. In the past, I had been here with friends and have had the Lychee, watermelon, and mango smoothies. I knew that prices were fairly reasonable and that service was efficient. On this visit, I noticed that a Pennywort drink was on the menu. Pennywort is supposed to decrease anxiety, improve memory and help with fatigue. Its taste reminds me of celery - on the earthy green side. They must have added some sweetener to make it palatable... haha! It's refreshing! Anyway, if you need a cool beverage, this is a popular place. They will give you a number on a wooden tile when there are many orders at one time. Even though there are seats and tables covered with umbrellas I prefer to find some air conditioning and take my drink elsewhere to enjoy... Remember - this is Chinatown. Be aware of your surroundings... Note: cash only. Prices include tax.

The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Hubs had to fast from 6 am for his 2 pm surgery so I thought he would probably be starving and would enjoy a delectable salt and butter roll from here. At $4.50 a piece I consider this a luxury for us. I found a close stall in the parking structure. A very cheerful polite male employee took my order. I had seen two occupied tables as I walked into the shop. Both had matcha drinks. Why not? I asked the young man assisting me, what's the best matcha drink? He said his favorite was banana matcha with extra banana foam. Okay I'll try it. He repeated it to the cashier. So popular there was a wait for beverages to be prepared. Soon enough mine was ready. I think Doc would enjoy this drink. This shop is a working bakery. Many yummy pastries displayed. Menu is posted high up above to choose from. Rather tiny shop with room for customers to stand in line to order and wait for drinks. Clean, busy with a few tables and chairs outside but pretty much in direct sun.
