    Egg Salad
    Lily J.

I was looking to try a new spot for breakfast and saw this restaurant pop up. Egg Salad - I think this was my favorite item out of the three things I've tried. It could have used a smidge of salt or seasoning but I enjoyed this. Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich - This was my 2nd favorite and was a pretty decent sandwich though it ate a little dry. VA Croissant - Unfortunately ,I don't think I'd order this item again. I feel like there wasn't quite as filling and it had higher bread ratio in comparison to ingredients in the sandwich. As a result it ate a bit dry despite having honey mustard sauce. Overall I'd be open to returning to try out the options outside of the sandwiches such as waffles, eggs, omelettes etc.

I came to Sunflower cafe for a wrap and some fries. I ended up ordering a salad as Well. The California wrap was good. There was a nice balance between the wrap and the ingredients. I thought the fries were just the basic Krinkle fries that were missing some salt. There was no seasoning added once they were cooked. The chefs salad was good. I wasn't a fan of the roast beef that was on the salad. The service was quick and easy.

Obsessed with this place. I've gotten wraps twice here and each time is better than the next. I got the cali and the Roman and both were nearly gone before I got home. 10/10. The staff is the sweetest and the inside is adorable.

I ordered the shrimp salad and added grilled chicken for extra protein. I also swapped avocado slices for guacamole and omitted olives. I didn't use the ranch dressing and asked for the cheese on the side. Even without those extras, the salad was delicious! I appreciated that the greens were dark and leafy and not iceberg lettuce. I ate everything and was sufficiently full. Highly recommend!

Whoever is seasoning the food in the back? Need to know their name--because why was the nachos bangin!?! As many times as we've driven past this place, we never would have known that it is a gem . And wished i had more for later. 12 out of 10. The Seasoned Beef was the star of the show. She had no complaints with the takeout process either. Very seamless.

There's also a second floor which is used as their event space. It was a bit quiet during lunch time on this day which worked out as my small group had plenty of choices for seating. Service was excellent our waiter was very attentive and our food items came out in an expedited manner. Their menu features apps like cast iron meatballs, garlic knots, and eggplant parm, several different salad options, 6 different sub options, and of course a plethora of red and white sauce pizza options (by the slice or whole pies) with plenty of add-ons regarding toppings and glazes. The wine menu is also pretty expansive with some very nice selections. I ended up ordering the chicken caesar sub ($18) and the vanilla bean brûlée cheesecake ($9). The chicken sub was delicious the flavor of the bread and the Caesar dressing that came with it were the highlights, fresh toppings, my only complaint would have been a bit more chicken added to the sandwich. The cheesecake was exceptional as well despite being a bit heavy on the cream topping but that was probably more for presentation purposes. Overall a positive lunch experience, I'll definitely be returning to try out a few of their pizza options.

Indicating that it had been cooked a while ago. I also ordered the eggplant Parmesan appetizer. The dish was really cheesy, however it was way over salted. The restaurant only offered one mocktail option, which is a shocker especially since we are in the middle of dry January. I'll have to go back another day and have a proper meal to see if this one visit was just a fluke.

Sad that Mama passed away but the family choose to stay with the community and keep the restaurant going! We have two go-to dishes: Kale and Salmon dish -- incredibly generous portion and so healthy -- Parmesan crusted salmon seared and served over kale, couscous, cranberries, and butternut squash salad, tossed in an apple vinaigrette. AND the Athenian Chicken which comes with chicken breast sautéed with tomatoes and garlic in olive oil and reduced in a lemon white wine sauce, topped with melted feta cheese -- the chicken serving could be a tad larger (it's one breast pounded thin). Served with choice of two sides: salad, broccoli, spinach, rice, pasta. Oh, and I'm reminded that the lentil soup was incredibly delicious! The pizza crust is okay ... but the toppings are very good and generously placed. Another few favorites to try come from appetizers: Grilled Halloumi -- Cheese charbroiled Cypriot cheese served inside a pita with tomatoes and dried mint. What a treat! 2710521 Trio Dips -- Hummus, tzatziki and feta spread served with WARM pita bread. OMG! I saw try all dishes and the beer they serve are also VERY good.

I very recently went with friends to Mamma's. I had been here once maybe seven years ago, during…read moremy Yelp hiatus, and that visit wasn't really memorable. This most recent time, service was welcoming and over the top excellent! I would categorize Mamma's as more Greek than Italian. When we came at 6:00pm on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was busy but there were still some open tables. My friends thought the music was too loud so they asked our server to turn the music down so we could hold a conversation, noting that on other occasions the music had not been loud. They did turn the sound down, maybe a little. There was a specials menu and the regular menu. For an appetizer, we ordered the Caprese, which was three skewers speared through cherry tomatoes and, I think, chunks of toasted burrata cheese, resting atop arugula lettuce drizzled with Balsamic vinegar. These were tasty. We also ordered crab cakes, a Meat Lovers pizza, lentil soup, a side of chicken white meat atop vegetable greens, and a side salad. The chunky crab cakes very good and came with couscous, broccoli and two slices of nicely done garlic bread. The side salad came with a vinaigrette dressing. This salad was lettuce and strips of green bell pepper. Personally, I would never eat raw green bell pepper (but will eat cooked green pepper), but each to his own. The lentil soup was very good. The side chicken was pretty good. I had the Meat Lovers pizza. The toppings (cheese, ham, sausage and pepperoni) were excellent. But honestly, I didn't care for the pita chip-like crust. It was scorched, hard and dry. BTW, the default sauce for this pizza is Marinara, but I was able to get a white sauce. Overall, Momma's was good enough that I would come back, especially considering its close to where I live and that there is a dearth of decent restaurants on the Richmond Highway corridor.

I will definitely for this again on my next trip. I ordered a BLT on multigrain, and a PBJ w/honey drizzle on sourdough. The PBJ is off the kids menu. I'll ask for extra peanut butter and jelly so it's to my liking. I couldn't tell if there was honey on it, it could have been. The BLT was fantastic. I loved that it was not oiled high with all the ingredients. A simple sandwich. It fit the bill and didn't over fill me. A true classic. The multi grain bread was the best! I need to find out where that is from. It was that good. I hope I'm able to try the tuna fish and the egg salad sandwiches sometime they look delish! The staff were quiet, but got the job done. There is a small bar like area to eat in, and outdoor tables in a covered area to enjoy your sandwich.

Great little sandwich shop!…read more It's very popular at noontime. I took a break from my 4 hour long painting class upstairs in the Torpedo Factory to snag a bite. My timing was good, because I arrived right before a work group of maybe 10 people or so came into place their orders. In addition to a substantive sandwich menu, which includes both hot and cold sandwiches, there's plenty of beverage (including wine) and snack selections. Wearing an oil paint-smudged apron (FYI: the reality is that you're still going to get paint on your clothes even wearing an apron), I aptly ordered the Torpedo Artist. The Torpedo Artist is a hot Panini-like sandwich. You can select your type of meat, cheese and toppings. By default it includes lettuce, sweet peppers and deli oil. My sandwich was well-crafted with plenty of turkey and Swiss cheese. However, I didn't especially like this sandwich. I wish I had asked them to hold the deli oil because it was overly pungent with oregano. All I could taste in my sandwich was oregano. But older and wiser now, I know in the future that if I have them hold the deli oil, I'll end up with a great and tasty sandwich.

I've been hearing LOTS of buzz about Yido Ramen and Sushi; and yet, before stepping foot inside the…read morejoint, one question kept popping into my head: Can a suburban Japanese restaurant really be THAT good? Well Yelp NOVA fam, I'm here to tell you, with a resounding "yes," it can and is, that good. Located in the Belle View shopping center off of Ft. Hunt Road, at first glance, Yido seems like it would be the nondescript cookie cutter themed Asian restaurant. There is a small waiting area/foyer when you walk in, and the interior is adorned with the usual decor of paper Japanese lanterns, fake pink cherry blossom plants, and kitschy wall art. Walked in on a Saturday at 4:30pm thinking it would be easy to snag a table...but I was mistaken. The place was PACKED. The first thing I was asked was whether I had a reservation (at 4:30pm, mind you). Having answered "no," I was escorted to dine at the sushi bar. Since it's in the name of the establishment, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen which is the benchmark by which a ramen place should be judged against. After about 5 min, the steaming bowl of noodles arrived. The dish was visually appealing as a creamy broth was the neutral palatte as yellow corn, sliced red ginger, yellow bamboo shoots, strips of black woodear mushroom, a soft boiled orange-ish egg, and green scallions added pops of color. As with any noodle soup dish, taste the broth before adding any additional seasoning such as the table side chili powder or chili oil. The broth could've been thicker, but it was very flavorful and it was evident that hours of simmering with pork bones had gone into the stock. The noodles had a nice chew without being gummy or overcooked and the slices of char siu pork had a good mix of fat to leaness. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the meal. Service could've been more attentive. It was a Saturday night, so it was busy and I understand that. If you're stitting at the sushi bar, expect the diners seated at tables to get their water faster and for servers to check-in on them more frequently. I can definitely see myself stopping in again to try their other ramen offerings. A bowl of ramen with just water as the beverage with tax and tip was about $19.
