I walked into That 80's Bar fully aware of its mixed reviews. A lot of 1-star complaints about strict rules, bad service, and the overall experience had me wondering if we were making a mistake. But our friends and my wife and I wanted to catch up somewhere with live music, so we gave it a shot. At its core, this place is exactly what it claims to be--a loud, divey 80's-themed bar with a dance floor, a DJ, and a live band. Drinks were basic but fine--no craft cocktails here, but that's not what this place is about. The crowd was mostly in the 30-50 range, with some younger and older. The vibe was definitely high energy, and for a lot of people there, it seemed like a fun, let-loose kind of night. The Experience: Crazy loud. Between the DJ and the band, it was LOUD--like, can't-hear-your-own-thoughts loud. Maybe we're just getting old, but we left when our ears couldn't take any more. Past Action Heroes were a wild ride. The band was high-energy and kept the crowd going, but for us, the constant sex jokes got old fast. Funny once, maybe twice... but after every song, it felt like overkill. The dancing crowd didn't seem to mind, so maybe that's just us. The atmosphere is what you'd expect. A dive bar with neon, a packed dance floor, and a crowd that's mostly there to party. If you're looking for a chill spot to sip drinks and chat, this isn't it. The Not-So-Great: No food + no re-entry is a bad combo. If you won't let people back in, at least offer some bar snacks. Rules matter, but so does customer experience. The no re-entry thing makes sense from a security perspective, but it doesn't make sense for customer satisfaction. They bent the rule for us, and that made a difference. They've been beaten up in reviews, but some complaints are valid. I can see why people either love or hate this place. The energy is great, but the policies and volume level might not be for everyone. Final Take: Honestly, this is a 3-star place for me, but I'm giving it 5 stars because they broke their own rule to accommodate us--which tells me they actually do care about the customer experience. Plus, I think some of the 1-star reviews are overly harsh. That said, management should take consistent feedback seriously. Would I go back? Maybe, with earplugs. Would I recommend it? Depends. If you love loud music, high-energy bands, and don't mind some over-the-top humor, this might be your spot. If you're looking for a more balanced, relaxed experience, this probably isn't it. Either way, if you go--eat first.

I haven't been to That 80s bar itself. Only twice for The Tron Speakeasy and the Evil dead speakeasy. Tickets are limited online and reserved timed so come early so you have enough time to enjoy your stay at the speakeasy. You're ticket comes with one drink token. Parking is either street or a swamp meet parking lot across the way. The Evil dead speakeasy had to be one of my favorites. The characters they hired and the whole theme. I love horror so I would definitely do it again according to a theme I enjoy.

I don't recommend coming here. If you go to the speakeasy next door, they will literally watch you if you come next door to the 80s bar, and then cut you off in drinks. They told my friend she's cut off because she's intoxicated. I didn't realize we had a drink limit if we do both. Apparently we don't but they're cutting us off regardless. It's her birthday and they're ruining it. They said she's intoxicated yet she is in heels, has not fallen, hasn't even tripped, hasn't done anything sloppy. Hasnt dropped a drink. This is incredibly unfair. Aside from the mistreatment of my friend, the drinks are still wack. 4 drinks here, two at the speakeasy and I'm sober lol this is ridiculous. $120 later not including two entrance fees you would think I would have a buzz. If you want good music and bad drinks this is the place for you

I don't recall a bar in the 80's doing a 15 dollar cover charge. Place is straight up dump of Holt Blvd.

Ask the Community - That 80's Bar

Is this 18 and over my daughter just turned 19?

    sorry, 21 & over only

    When is karaoke?

    Every Wednesday night

What time is good time to be there to get a table?

    I'd say 8ish

Are people able to reserve for a group for birthdays?

I went there for my friends birthday and we were told they don't take reservations :( sucks I know. Just get there early enough to save tables and seats.

Does it Normally get packed for a Saturday night around 9 or 10?

No joke and I had to experience it for myself.. on a Saturday you have to get there as soon as they open. It gets so packed that as people leave they let the same number of people in. The security will even tell you to get there early. Really fun…

Is it only 80's music? Are there hip hop nights?

It is only 80s music however they will have the occasional rock en espanol vs 80s night or Selena tribute nights.

Is there a cover for Saturday nights?

There is a cover charge on fridays and Saturday's that range from $10-$20 depending of VIP is offered or not but usually $10 and cash only for cover.

    Is it just English music?

Depends on the dj but usually yes

    Is it casual?

Yes, it is very causal. Some people dress up in 80's wear too!…

    What is the entrance fee?

    $10

I came here today at 4:50 PM, making it just in time for their happy hour! Mind you, I came alone and independently, something I haven't done in years, and decided to treat myself out to their happy hour which is from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM everyday until August 31, 2026 according to their social media. Happy Hour at Eastland means you get 3 hours instead of 1 hour for the flat rate of $25 for one person and $5 more for every person thereafter (i.e., $30 for 2 people, $35 for 3 people, and so on). Flat rate not per hour if you're within happy hour. How could I not go?! So since I came in at 5 PM I got to sing until 8 PM for $25 only! I've been to other karaoke places like Round 1, Spark Karaoke, EKO Karaoke Lounge, Moxie, and heck I've even had the experience of doing open mic down at Little Tokyo; this place just hits. Good. Their selection is expansive (I'm talking about songs in Korean, Chinese, English, Vietnamese, heck I see Tagalog there too!) I do wish they had maybe Japanese songs for their karaoke machine, but whatever I couldn't find in the karaoke machine, I found on Youtube! Switching back and forth from the karaoke program and Youtube is a breeze, but Michael, the owner who is really cool and chill, and Song, who is very friendly, are happy to show you a tutorial on how to do it if you're new or not! I was greeted when I came in, promptly shown to a room, and then asked if I wanted popcorn, and then asked if I had any questions to let the staff know. It can be daunting going alone; some places won't even let you sing by yourself let alone for their happy hour, but Eastland is seriously where it's at. There was no wait time for me at 5 PM! If you're hungry, there's snacks and drinks available for purchase at the front, popcorn was free! Water is like a dollar, but I brought my own refillable water bottle with ice (during these hot and trying times, it's a lifesaver). There's a fan inside the room, but when you're moving around, you can seriously work up a sweat. Lights can be adjusted! Bathroom is clean and the room I was in was roomy for two people, but even roomier because it was just me~! Seriously, stop reading this review and just go. Give it a chance, you won't be disappointed when you have fun and sing your heart out like there's no tomorrow with amazing equipment that makes me feel like I could be the next Madonna. And go before their happy hour deal ends. Great for groups, great for people who just want to have fun and love singing or music. Feel free to enjoy the tambourines, too. And if we meet each other at Eastland, don't be shy and come sing along!

We utilized nearly the whole three hours. The karaoke system has mainly English and Korean music along with other international options. The keyboard allows you to type in either English or Hangul. You can also switch to YouTube for a much more expansive variety of options. We were the first customers for the day. The owner was nice and lead us to the room. He explained how we can switch in between the default karaoke machine and YouTube. I found that the default machine had most of the songs I wanted to sing, but we switched to YouTube for other options. It had good sound quality. The room and bathroom were clean. After I paid, the owners let me spin a wheel that awarded various discounts. I got a voucher for 25 percent off my next karaoke transaction, excluding happy hour. The voucher doesn't have an expiration date, but the owners made a bittersweet remark that it could last longer than their business. Hopefully, this isn't anywhere near the case because they're a great local business offering a solid karaoke experience.

Recommend reserving a spot online to be guaranteed a table spot and that set aside seating for your party. You can't bring outside food or drinks but you can bring a cake and party decorations. Plenty of parking spaces, it opens at 7pm so it feels early when it's still light out. They play a lot of oldies, 80s and 90s songs. I kind of felt out of place not knowing a lot of the older songs. Younger folks might have a tough time following along the songs. If you want your song played it's like a $20 payment unless no one is there and you might get away with under $20.
