Super selection of food...but a bit too pricey for what you get portion wise, but good nontheless

Very rude and disrespectful doormen especially the old overweight guy. The team in the past was way more pleasant but the guys there now think they're protecting a top secret military bunker and speak to everyone like they're garbage. So my boyfriend and our two friends wanted to experience this place.All I gotta say is it was a big let down. The meatballs were nothing special, all it was seemed like frozen balls of meat from a supermarket, mind you in eight different sauces. But this place should be called "The PBNJ Sandwich place" , that desert was the best ever. Atmosphere seemed more like a sports bar, hard to hear our friends right across the table, I don't think will be experience this place again, but if you go for a dessert and wine its great, but skip the balls. read more

Stopped in over the weekend for their Grand Opening with my boyfriend and the place was jumpin! We were greeted warmly by the hostesses and sat promptly. The menu is interesting because it really does seem that there is something for everyone. I'm not a big meat eater so I ordered the Lobster risotto balls which were fantastic and my boyfriend got the spicy pork balls with a tzatziki sauce that I stole a bit of just for taste purposes, and they were good! We also had a few sliders which were great to sample a few with different sauces. They pesto sauce with ANY ball is awesome. We loved the interior of this place and were so surprised with how much space they have. Our server was sweet, attentive and patient with all our questions about the menu. Take this post with this in mind I was drunk. After boozing up at the blue point brewery I walked here. We got the buffalo chicken meatballs which I thought were great. We also got the lobster meatballs. I didn't taste as much lobster as I did bread. I would suggest getting the regular meatballs and buffalo chicken. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but where do I start? I went on a Thursday night at around 7:00. There was a band playing and the music was MIND NUMBINGLY LOUD. I am someone who loves loud hard-driving music.....but not DURING DINNER. It was absolutely rediculous. Many others that were seated near us were obviously just as annoyed. They finally lowered it A TAD. Then the food...if you are called The Meatball Place your meatballs and sauce should be outstanding, not here. I have had better at pizza joints. The live music was great when I was there on a Friday night, but they really threw me when one of the workers threw a bunch of napkins from high up in the air down onto everyone in the bar. It was so weird. The first time I was like ????? cause it was really a waste of perfectly good napkins and it made such a mess, but I wasn't going to let it ruin my experience. Then a few minutes later it happened again, and by then the live music was over so I knew it was time to leave. So odd. Wish they hadn't done that cause now the more I think about it the less and less I want to return. Yeah so I was gonna give 4 stars, but had to lower it to 3. The napkin thing oh man. Great food. Waitress was great too. The host staff seemed a bit all over the place though. I was given a buzzer at the front so I waited inside less than ten feet from the host station. I was initially told 30 minutes which didn't seem bad at all. After seeing parties that came in after me being sat and after not a single look from the hostesses, the bouncer asked if I had a buzzer. The bouncer, not the hostesses. I went up the the host station and asked how far along I was. They asked for my name and after telling them I never even gave a name because they never even asked for one, they said to just wait at the bar and "have a cocktail." I had just waited over an hour and was told to keep waiting. Are you kidding me? I got sat shortly after that thank goodness. While I was eating, the same hostess I was dealing with interrupted me and my friends to tell me that some of the other customers gave her looks after she "cut them" to seat us. Why should I care about that? You cut us plenty of times to seat plenty of parties. I was never told sorry not was I apologized to. I'll come back to eat, but will definitely avoid this place on the weekends because the hostess staff didn't seem like they could handle to traffic. read more

Will not be going back. I have been a few times and enjoyed it. Finally got my husband to go as he normally does not like to try new places. We had a great night. Our waitress Veronica was simply the best. That brings me to tonight. Went again, had Veronica again but the service was worse than awful. Veronica told us that there was a paint night there tonight with 100 people coming. Those nights are going to sink this business. The 5.00 bar menu advertised on-line as being available M-F was not available. Veronica did her best to accommodate us but what is advertised should be available without special arrangements. Our appetizer was brought out at the same time as our dinner. Veronica apologized profusely but that didn't change anything. We had to wait forever for a scoop of gelato for our Granddaughter an even had to grab a waiter and ask. To say that we are extremely disappointed would be the understatement of the year. As much as we love Veronica, we will not be coming back to That Meetball Place. I guess they make enough money from the craft nights that they don't have to worry about customers. read more

Went with a friend to check it out, service was good, my corona was good, my friends pomargarita not so much, the humus platter was alright how could you mess up humus though? The meatballs were lacking however. I got the vegetarian ones with marinara and my friend did the chicken ones with marinara. First let me say this, the meatballs were subpar to say the least. They were average sized little pasta toppers. I expected big meal sized meatballs since the place is a meatball place. Also the marinara sauce was so salty that it burned my mouth and throat with a salty singe. Gross. I guess I'm comparing it to the one in Chelsea which is a million times better. The Meetball Place is certainly a great place to go if you love all things "meatballs." I had the fortune of dining here late at night with some local friends. I would have to say the food was nothing short of wonderful. They have all kinds of meatballs. Spicy meatballs, mild meatballs, meatballs with sauce, meatballs made of pork, meatballs made of lamb, etc. Seafood also for those that want something from the oceans. Must be aware though that on weekend nights (and maybe weekdays occasionally, not totally sure) they have live music which gets pretty loud. read more

It's a great place for a drink. With that being said, the food is subpar at best. There is nothing special about the meatballs, the sauce, or the pasta which is out of a box. It used to be homemade, which gave them an edge. The kale salad is flavorless, and barely chopped. Very unprofessional. After eating there with 3 friends we all agreed that we would never go back to eat there again but we would go back for a drink. Too many other good places with good food in the area. read more

Atmosphere is great, but mostly for a younger crowd. Every time i go, i order the vegetarian meatballs with lobster and they are so tasty. The place is a little loud and rowdy later in the night, but overall good. I will keep coming back for the lobster risotto balls. read more

Fun place, good atmosphere, fun bands... definitely a place you should eat at least once. But it can be addicting so watch out ;). I highly recommend the Brooklyn born burrata salad. It is out of this world. The large everything pretzel and the mother load sandwich is also delicious. With all that being said, the service is hit or miss. Lobster Risotto with pancetta cream was great, lamb was my favorite. The truffle fries and risotto were amazing.

First the bar... Every time I've been here (about 5-10 times), the band is very talented. Do not expect upbeat dance music... or even anything after 2004 (so the bar will attract some sloppy 40+ couples and cougars). With that being said, it's a great background to relax with friends and meet with people. Drink prices are slightly above average, but it's a really nice place that often has room to stand or sit with friends comfortably (rare in most Patchogue bars on a Fri/Sat). It's probably 80% 20 somethings and I definitely stop by here if I'm in Patchogue for the night. The restaurant was as expected. They obviously mainly serve meatballs, but somehow 2 in my group did not realize that it is a very limited menu. Great presentation, clean table, friendly service, and a calm (but active) bar. While sharing and swapping I tried most meatballs and I'll break everything I sampled. -Classic Meatball (with spicy marinara) - 6/5 To me the absolute best on the menu. perfect and not overpowering sauce. -Great Ball of Fire (with Marinara) - 3/5 I was expecting the GBoF to be a little more spicy. It was surprisingly mild to medium. The whole black beans also gave it a bland kick. Still very good, but was expecting fire. -Lamb (with Tzatziki) - 4/5 Again, not what I was expecting on taste. I was expecting local gyro meat, but it was not this. Consistency less firm than the other "meat"balls. Tzatziki was great. -Chickenballs (with Pesto) - 5/5 Perfect. Very moist, with a perfect mild-chicken flavor. Pesto was great. You taste all the flavors, not an overpowering chicken taste. -Lobster Risotto Balls (pancetta sauce) - 5/5 I believe these were deep-fried (unlike the others) but they were amazing. Pancetta gave it a very nice flavor too. -Seafood Balls (with pancetta) - 4/5 Again deep fried... I tried these after the lobster... lacking that BANG/WOW flavor. Still very good. -Mac N Cheese - 5/5 as everyone has stated, it is great. VERY filling. Creamy creamy creamy. Yum. Overall a very good choice for an occasional fun/different dining experience. Quick Notes: - DO NOT bring anyone hardcore Italian or someone who thinks their cooking is the best. One friend of mine would not shut up about how his are different and his sauce is better and blah blah blah. I overheard the booth next to me also saying how they were "good, but not as good as grandmas". Don't get it twisted... these meatballs are great. - As I was leaving out the back door I took a glance in the kitchen... Here are the goods and bads: Good: - The meatballs tasted great - Appetizers were ok (we had cheese-garlic bread, a big pretzel, and pita bread with humus) Bad: - The service was unbelievably slow. We waited long periods of time between visits from our waiter, and it took forever for the appetizers and main course to be brought out - I ordered chicken meatballs with the pancetta cream sauce over rigatoni. The meatballs, as I said, were great, but there was not nearly enough sauce, it covered about half of the rigatoni, the rest were almost completely untouched - It was somewhat loud, with a live musician singing at times. If you're going to open a restaurant that specializes in meatballs, they should be spectacular. That isn't the case here. The food is okay, at best. My wife and I met some friends here for dinner and weren't terribly impressed. The decor was interesting, but the noise was overwhelming and the bar area was overcrowded and overflowed into the dining space. This is also the only place I've ever been told that I can't get cash service at the bar because I have a table. While the meatballs weren't terrible (not dried out or burned), they weren't anything that would make us want to return. The noise and mediocre service just put the cheese on top. I've come here twice in ~ 2 months and live about 35 mins away... so I would definitely say I love this place! Both times I went we started with their specialty risotto and they were both amazing! Highly recommend no matter what flavor it is, you try it! The first time we had the chicken parm risotto and last night was the Cajun chicken risotto. So far we've also tried the braised beef short rib and mashed potato ball(another special) , 3 different sliders (buffalo chicken, lamb with cool tzatziki sauce, and classic meatball with spicy Asian sauce) and the chicken meatball with spicy marinara on top of spaghetti - all DELICIOUS! And I highly recommend trying out their maritini's! We had the sugar cookie martini and it was the perfect flavor with just enough alcohol- you knew it was there but wasn't overwhelming. Basically, I don't think you could go wrong with anything they have. the specials are always crazy creative and with their regular menu you can make any combo you want. I enjoy going here for drinks on the weekends but today I went for food and it was the last time I will return . I won't speak on the food because taste is subjective but I was utterly displeased when I asked for a bottle of Acqua panna water and to my belief it wasn't actually Panna water because we never saw removal of the cap and the bottle was full to the brim which is never the case in a genuine bottle of Panna water or any bottled water for that matter. So I asked for a second bottle and before doing so I had made a mark on the bottle. We received the same bottle back at our table filled again to the top and no cap . They must be filling the glass bottles with tap water. In all fairness I didn't say anything or dissect the receipt and see how much we were charged for it but I know it wasn't free. This practice of refilling the bottles is common but not acceptable especially when water in glass comes at a premium. Truly disappointed. read more

My wife and I got there around 6pm on Friday, and were seated right away. Our server Niki was very courteous, informative, and helped us with the menu. Our food was brought out right away, and was fantastic. We opted for the sampler and bowl of 4. The lobster ball was incredible as were all the other choices. The mac and cheese is out of this world, and the dynamite fries were awesome. A definite 5 star dining experience, and the ambiance of the meetball place is top notch. I really don't understand the big hype of this place. I was SO excited to try this place and was pretty disappointed after the fact. I got 4 meatballs in a bowl that was supposed to come with bead - the piece of bread was so small, it easily could have passed for a crouton. The meatballs did taste good, I'll give them that - but who wants just 4 meatballs for dinner? However, my mojito was probably the worst mixed drink I have ever tasted in my life (no exaggeration). My boyfriend got the meatballs too - So, 8 meatballs, 1 mojitio, 1 beer, 1 soft pretzel and we ended up with a $65+ bill. I do think that is a little overpriced. Probably won't be back. read more

If you spend $10 on a pretzel to start and think that is the best part of the $400 dinner bill, well there is your hint. Everyone got meatball dishes. My meatballs arrived in a bowl, with a huge glop of taztiki sauce, swimming on top. The meatballs, I swear looked GREY, no seasoning, nothing but bland, under seasoned, baked balls.
