Little spot just off the town square, thought I'd give it a try my first night in town. I was amongst the first to arrive, though there was a lot of carry-out activity. The service was outstanding, I was doted upon from the moment I arrived until I walked out the door. Sadly, they have no liquor license, so my hopes of having a cold beer with my bbq, were dashed. I settled on the sweet tea, good, but no substitute for the beer, sorry. The portions were absolutely obscene, my platter came with three meat options, and three sides, I was disappointed though that there was not a smoked sausage available. While there was more than enough food, unfortunately there was nothing memorable about any of the six items. Their's was an interesting take on greens, a heavy smoke, with no vinegar or meat added. When you're living in this part of the world you've come to expect more than just "okay" BBQ, but that sadly was the extent of the experience. read more

While visiting family we went to this cute little place in downtown Trenton. It was a Tuesday night, but the location was hopping, the food was good. These were the best pickle spears as an appetizer I have had. I had a baked potato covered with buffalo chicken, cheese, and other things. It was good. My side salad with a bbq ranch was also very enjoyable. My husband ordered a plate. The slaw was good, and the fried tomatoes were good, however at first his food was really cold. He sent it back. It was returned with a decent amount less fries. The waitress hit that fixed. Overall, it wasn't bad. It was a little slow, and the kitchen was a little inconsistent. We were staying at a nearby KOA so we stopped in for a carry out order based on reviews that I read here. We weren't impressed. The service was good but we didn't care for the food. We got a rack of ribs. They were very tender but we didn't like the rub that was quite thick and overly salty. For our 3 sides, we chose 2 Mac and cheese and 1 Cole slaw. Went here based on recommendation of a local. We were seated quickly and drink order was taken. Server was friendly and quick on the refills. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of combinations and ways to do BBQ. Lots of side options as well. Tacos, sandwiches, wraps, so many other things and unique food combinations. First thing we noticed when the food was brought out was that nothing was hot. Almost everything on the plate was room temperature except the mac and cheese, which was hot. Sugared sweet potato tots - crunchy and sweet on the outside, nice sweet potato flavor 4/5 Beans - tangy flavor but not super strong flavor profile 3.5/4 Green beans, nice flavor, but mild flavor 4.5/5 Potato Salad - not my favorite, very lacking in flavor 2.5/5 Stew - beans with meat, tangy and sweet flavor 4/5 Mac n cheese - star of show, this packed so much cheesy flavor, with lots of melted cheese/cheese sauce, it was very, very good 5/5 Grilled toast - only buttered, no garlic, good char on toast, but not much flavor 3.5/5 Brisket and pulled pork - both very tender, you could cut with a fork, but the pulled pork was not very flavorful on own and kind of dry. Brisket was moist and had a little bit more flavor 4/5, 3.5/5 Sauces - the Mustard Gold and Sweet and Savory were our favorites. Mustard gold - mustard/vinegar based sauce Sweet and Savory was rich, sweet and tangy. I've been here several times. The first time I visited, I ordered a baked potato. Let's just say it was fantastic. The next time I was driving through I ordered a hamburger well done. When I got it, it was mooing. I gave them a second chance on the hamburgers and it happened again, so no more hamburgers from there. The strawberry fields salad is pretty good. Recently had driving through I stopped and I must say it will probably be my last time. I ordered chipotle sauce on the side because I am watching my sodium. There was no sauce and I went back to the guy at the counter. Well, I waited for 10 minutes for him to walk back the short distance to the kitchen to give me some sauce. He comes back with not even the right sauce. I explained to him that was not the sauce. He didn't go back and he's gone another 10 minutes and comes back with the same sauce. So I've wasted 20 minutes trying to get the sauce for my sandwich which I ordered initially on the side. Then he gives me an attitude because I tell him it's not on the right bread that I ordered. I felt like I was talking to a 12 year-old child. He was being just incredibly bratty about it like I was offending him for wanting my sandwich like I ordered it. Wow, this was a great meal. I decided to take a leap of faith and try the ribs here. I grew up in Memphis, so I'm kind of a ribs snob. So far, only one place in Birmingham has caught my attention regarding their ribs game. But this is far enough away from Birmingham, so I thought, let's check it out. And I was impressed. Their dry style was excellent. Half rack, well seasoned, easily come-off-the bone, moist, and meaty. They would have been good in and of themselves, but trying the house bbq sauces was a must (which were all good too). Three sides - collards, green beans, and pinto beans. Plus toast. All good. What caught my attention here was the green beans. They were cooked southern style, but they had a special sweetness that I haven't tasted before in a southern green beans. High marks!
