This is an awesome place! A great tribute to WWII pilots.

This is a really cool place keeping the memory of US Army Air Corps alive for over 40 years. Located next to the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, the French farmhouse inspired restaurant and event space is a one-of-a-kind place. Enter through a narrow sandbag-lined hallway into 1940's France with memorabilia and pictures of WWII fighter planes and bombers. Sitting next to one of the windows, it's easy to imagine that the private planes landing and taking off from the adjacent runway are P-51 Mustangs. There are several sizable rooms for events and groups as well as several bar areas. They also serve a damn good lunch! We had delicious salads and sandwiches for lunch. I highly recommend the 57th Fighter Group sandwich, though you won't go wrong with anything you order. Prices are pretty good with sandwiches with a side in the $18 range. You don't have to be a military buff to enjoy The 57th Fighter Group, but if you know a military buff, you'll score major points bringing them here.

57th Fighter Group Restaurant has a really cool ambiance--right on the runway, so you can watch private planes take off while you eat. The inside is cozy and homey, with fireplaces lit and lots of warm wooden decor. The staff is super nice, patient, and helpful if you have any questions. The crowd definitely skews older, but it's still a fun spot, especially on Wednesdays and weekends when there's live music and dancing in half the restaurant. The food itself is pretty average. I had the vegetable pasta, which was very herby and flavorful. Overall, it's worth checking out for the atmosphere alone.

We have not been here in years and forgot how much we enjoyed dining here. On Friday night, Mark was craving a prime rib dinner. The Colonnade prime rib was mediocre and expensive on our last visit so we decided to try 57th. We arrived around 745pm and were able to get a table at the window overlooking the runway. Marist School was hosting their 20th reunion so we were able to enjoy hearing their party music and watching them have fun. Morgan was our server and she was friendly and efficient. Mark and I enjoyed the artichoke crab dip for our appetizer with martinis and Pinot Grigio wine. Mark had the prime rib dinner with the mashed red potatoes with skins on. He loved the prime rib and we both loved the potatoes- they were outstanding. I ordered the dinner special which was a house made salmon burger topped with spicy kimchi and a soy ponzu sauce served on a toasted brioche bun. It came with a side of fries. The sandwich was mid blowing delicious and the fries were hot and crispy. I told Morgan that they need to consider making the salmon burger a standard menu item. I'm pescatarian and love it when restaurants serve creative items like this. Mark and I loved our food, service and ambiance and we are looking forward to coming back for the brunch!!

Love this place. I love to dance & be surrounded by others: who also love to dance. This place got me through the Covid-19 Pandemic: The 57th Fighter Group was the only place you could go during the Pandemic & feel like a normal regular human being instead like a victim of leprosy. Thank God. The food is amazing.

What an awesome place! The patio was so relaxing, beautiful summer weather with a breeze.. sipping some drinks having a little food and watching the planes fly in and out.. our bartender was a really nice and attentive guy. Thank you for a great experience!

This place is an oldie but goodie! I ate here over 20 years ago for my birthday & several brunches when they had bottomless Mimosas. I love the nostalgia from WWII because my grandfather served. Being situated at the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport adds to the atmosphere watching planes take off & fly in. This visit was to celebrate my Mom's birthday with the family. We had a party of 7 - I booked online but that is only up to 6 people. I left a VM that we've added a child to make 7. Shortly after the OpenTable notification reflected 7 so that was seamless. We were seated to watch the planes in a dining room off of the main entry and near the fireplace. It was a little cool as it started raining but warmed up and views of the planes were sporadic. Still the 6 year old in our party loved it! Santa arrived early and the buffet was stacked. Omelette station, prime rib, pancakes, waffles, soups, salad, shrimp cocktail, vegetables, pasta, grits, sausage, eggs, eggs Benedict, scalloped potatoes, salmon cakes, catfish bites, broccoli rice casserole, desserts and more. So much I didn't even try it all. Everything was tasty but I wish it was hotter. My standout was an omelette with veggies and smoked salmon. Overall, a great time. Service was excellent and we got a family photo with Santa. We'll be back on a sunny day soon!

Is there music in the bar on Sunday nights? Not the DJ like Friday nights, but do they play old music over the speaker?

Absolutely! We always have jazz playing on the speakers in our dining rooms to resemble the era of WWII but also more modern with Rock N' Roll/Pop in our lounge and patio areas. We'd love to have you out!

At first there was a mix up with who was serving us do we got explained the drink menu twice. After our appetizer, we waited about 30-40 minutes for the rest of our items which took longer than we thought. They did give us some house made popcorn to keep us busy. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. I'm so glad we listened to the other reviews and gave them a visit because our entire table of four had a lovely time. We started with drinks and I settled on a glass of wine. They had the exact type of sauvignon blanc that I wanted, which was an immediate win. As a group we settled on the whipped goat cheese and brussel sprouts for appetizers. The brussel sprouts came with bacon so I steered clear, but the others raved about them. The whipped goat cheese dip was also a nice choice with the garden veggies. Super creamy and refreshing. As for my entree I went with risotto of the week with salmon. It was absolutely delicious and I ate every bite. We had a birthday in the group so we of course had to get desserts. We shared the creme brulee and this super decadent chocolate cake. Both with fresh berries, love! The creme brulee was definitely my favorite of the two, but you can't go wrong. As for the space itself, it's beautiful. It gave off a sort of a modern farmhouse vibe with the wood and brick. With the twinkle lights and earthy touches bringing it all together. Our service was also on point. Jackson was awesome (as you can see in the other reviews) and kept the good vibes flowing all night. I would definitely come here again.

They price the tip into the food and yet the price is still reasonable. More restaurants should be less of a coward and start doing this more. Tipping culture in US is wild. I digress. I like coming here with friends because then I get to try a few dishes. Pumpkin was delicious. Kale salad was creamy and had fresh tomatoes with avacado. The seared black cod was fresh. Salmon was tasy. Gnocci was my wife favorite. The only dish that was a little disappointing for me was the beef bourguignon. Maybe because we had some great flavors in Paris recently and I clearly remember that wine flavor. All of this is moot since the food may change once you get here. Would I come here again? Yes. This has quickly moved to my Top 40 ATL list. I love the small and seasonal menu.

Here is Danbi's description: 10oz Bone-in Duroc Heritage Pork Chop - Medium Well (Cumin, Paprika, Salt, Pepper, Avocado oil) Cauliflower Mash (Butter, Heavy Cream, Scallion), Winter Vegetable Succotash with Sage Butter (Parsnip, Kabocha Squash, Red Onion, Edamame), Salsa Verde (Parsley, Anchovy, Caper, Garlic, Lemon, Vinegar, Scallion, Mustard). People, people, people... if I can impress upon you one thing today please let it be this. BE CAREFUL WHERE YOUR PORK COMES FROM ! and who processes it ! You want the best pork purveyor your money can afford. Here's what is said about Duroc heritage pork: "Heritage Duroc pork chops are a premium, highly marbled meat known for exceptional juiciness, tenderness, and a rich, dark red color, often described as having a deeper, more savory flavor than conventional pork. Sourced from a 175-year-old American heritage breed, these chops are typically raised on family farms with strict, humane, and antibiotic-free standards." THIS is the kind of pork you want to eat. (avoid Smithfield at ALL COSTS - they were bought out by CHINA years ago !) Now back to our regularly scheduled review: The chop was AMAZING ! It was HUGE ! and BONE-IN ! Unfortunately, I can't have the cauliflower mash that it comes with. Nor the sage butter. BUT - Our Favorite Chef, Jack, is THE MAN ! There is a REASON they ask you your allergies (and sensitivities) when placing an order. He's really good about pleasing my palate AND keeping my sensitive intestines happy. I pretty much scarfed down the bed of black lentils the chop was perched on. This is the same black lentils that comes with the black cod (see my previous review). Addictingly delicious ! Service is always great, parking is easy, and the ambiance is fast casual with indoor and outdoor seating. With multiple locations around the city, the Chamblee location has become my go-to since the Decatur spot closed! I almost always order the 3-piece OG chicken (or 4-piece if I'm extra hungry) with rice, a salad with ranch, or fries, both the regular and sweet potato fries are so good! The chicken is always hot, crispy, flavorful, and consistent. I've also stopped by for brunch before and really enjoyed it, so I'm definitely planning to come back soon to check out happy hour and some of their daily specials. Ponko never disappoints!

At least those won't be cold. Our last experience at Ponko, the person behind the counter was so high out of her damn mind that we had to remind her that we already ordered food multiple times, and she just never told the cooks. Once that was settled, half of what we ordered was missing at the tenders we did get was a soggy mess of sadness. But that part was more on par with a Ponkos experience, someone overly moist soggy tenders that cost $15 for 5 of them. When they were new in town and care, they were good. But they stopped giving af awhile ago and this place is awful now. If you're in the area and want chicken tenders just call me or something, don't go here.
