This spot is all about the view. Sit outside for the best view. Went on a Saturday and on a Sunday. Skip the brunch - $60 per adult and barely edible especially the prime rib. That said regular menu is fine - the beer soup is good, smatterings of other items. The patio has bar and sit down seating. Fresh air, good views, and quick service. Planes are fun.

Brought my grandma here for lunch she didn't really like the blue cheese dressing because she said it was very blue cheese flavored. I got the burger and wedge potato's and they were amazing. We had great service and a nice seat by the window. I will definitely bring my husband back to try this place out!

First Time going and if it wasn't for me being with a group of people, I would've cut up. We had a party of about 12. The waitress we had could barely handle us. The environment was okay, definitely a flashback in time. We were in a back but it got loud very quickly another party came in. It took forever for us to get our alcohol and it took NO time to get my food which made me question the menu and the . I ordered Steak & Frites and I received it within 5 minutes. ALL of our food was out rather quickly. I would love to believe that this was a one off but the food CANNOT be cooked to order. My steak AND fries were COLD. The plate was cold and if it had been at least sitting under a warmer 1 and/or both would've been WARM. Even with letting a steak rest it would not be COLD. I sent it back to which they warmed it but I was turned off by it at that point. The event for the night was the disco so definitely enjoyed going to the dance floor and at least enjoying that part. My friend enjoyed her night so I guess that's all that matters.

Catfish, hush puppies, and a side salad.

We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer, catfish with hush puppies and an iced tea. Food was good and service was friendly and attentive. It was a lovely day to sit by the window and watch the airplanes land and take off. Everything was clean. Positive experience. It had been a couple years since I ate here, and it was as good as I remembered. Will be back.

This is an awesome place! A great tribute to WWII pilots.

This is a really cool place keeping the memory of US Army Air Corps alive for over 40 years. Located next to the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, the French farmhouse inspired restaurant and event space is a one-of-a-kind place. Enter through a narrow sandbag-lined hallway into 1940's France with memorabilia and pictures of WWII fighter planes and bombers. Sitting next to one of the windows, it's easy to imagine that the private planes landing and taking off from the adjacent runway are P-51 Mustangs. There are several sizable rooms for events and groups as well as several bar areas. They also serve a damn good lunch! We had delicious salads and sandwiches for lunch. I highly recommend the 57th Fighter Group sandwich, though you won't go wrong with anything you order. Prices are pretty good with sandwiches with a side in the $18 range. You don't have to be a military buff to enjoy The 57th Fighter Group, but if you know a military buff, you'll score major points bringing them here.

57th Fighter Group Restaurant has a really cool ambiance--right on the runway, so you can watch private planes take off while you eat. The inside is cozy and homey, with fireplaces lit and lots of warm wooden decor. The staff is super nice, patient, and helpful if you have any questions. The crowd definitely skews older, but it's still a fun spot, especially on Wednesdays and weekends when there's live music and dancing in half the restaurant. The food itself is pretty average. I had the vegetable pasta, which was very herby and flavorful. Overall, it's worth checking out for the atmosphere alone.

We have not been here in years and forgot how much we enjoyed dining here. On Friday night, Mark was craving a prime rib dinner. The Colonnade prime rib was mediocre and expensive on our last visit so we decided to try 57th. We arrived around 745pm and were able to get a table at the window overlooking the runway. Marist School was hosting their 20th reunion so we were able to enjoy hearing their party music and watching them have fun. Morgan was our server and she was friendly and efficient. Mark and I enjoyed the artichoke crab dip for our appetizer with martinis and Pinot Grigio wine. Mark had the prime rib dinner with the mashed red potatoes with skins on. He loved the prime rib and we both loved the potatoes- they were outstanding. I ordered the dinner special which was a house made salmon burger topped with spicy kimchi and a soy ponzu sauce served on a toasted brioche bun. It came with a side of fries. The sandwich was mid blowing delicious and the fries were hot and crispy. I told Morgan that they need to consider making the salmon burger a standard menu item. I'm pescatarian and love it when restaurants serve creative items like this. Mark and I loved our food, service and ambiance and we are looking forward to coming back for the brunch!!

Ask the Community - The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant

Is there music in the bar on Sunday nights? Not the DJ like Friday nights, but do they play old music over the speaker?

Absolutely! We always have jazz playing on the speakers in our dining rooms to resemble the era of WWII but also more modern with Rock N' Roll/Pop in our lounge and patio areas. We'd love to have you out!

How long is the wait around 4 PM, on a Friday afternoon for 2 people? We want to make reservations for a helicopter flight at 5 PM, and we were wondering if we would be done on time.

Hey Kimberly! Thanks for reaching out. With the restaurant business, we can never guarantee the volume we'd be receiving in the future with so many possibilities and factors added in. It's always a hit or miss. Normally, we'd recommend at least 1.5…

What is the noise level like at lunch ? I am very hard of hearing . We are supposed to meet people there next week.

Our private indoor dining rooms are pretty quite with a slight touch of jazz music playing in the background. Outside on our patio can be noisy at times with aircraft taxiing by and taking off every so often. Hope this helps!

Will the restaurant be serving buffet on Thanksgiving this year?

Do they have a Sunday brunch?

    Yes

Now that things are returning to "normal," if we go for brunch will we still have an a la carte option or is the buffet required?

    Buffet is back.

Can you order single breakfast items instead of the entire Buffett (brunch)?

We are not offering the Brunch Buffet at the moment. However, we have an Ala cart Brunch Menu with several delicious breakfast options to choose from, as well as some new Brunch Cocktails. You can also order off the lunch Menu, which wasn't an…

Would you recommend sitting inside or outside?

Outside has an enjoyeable atmosphere to dine, but if you are there for the brunch buffet, it can be a hassle going in and out.

At first there was a mix up with who was serving us do we got explained the drink menu twice. After our appetizer, we waited about 30-40 minutes for the rest of our items which took longer than we thought. They did give us some house made popcorn to keep us busy. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

My husband's entree was the scallops. He enjoyed them. I had the KC strip steak with smashed yukon potatoes and forest mushrooms with a sauce and broccolini. I was not a fan of the broccolini (a bit bitter), but the flavors /seasoning of the rest of the meal made up for it. I had a citrus and a hibiscus mocktail. Not bad, but probably would just get a Coke next time. I cannot say enough about the fresh bread and butter. Heavenly. But why only 3 slices for two people? And there was a piece of kielbasa or summer sausage with some white beans, I think? The whole dish was muddled in its own self importance, much like the menu and the restaurant itself. And then there was the special - the Scallops Vanilla ($39). Three (3) scallops on some vanilla sauce that were so lackluster and unfulfilling. The martini was well prepared by the bartender but overpriced at $18 by the establishment. The best deal in the place was the glass of Fontenille Bourdeaux at $12. After a few visits, I've tried a good variety of the menu: * **Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich:** This is served open-face and uses a mix of Sichuan and Calabrian chili. It is absolutely amazing, but fair warning: it is *hot*. Even if you're used to Sichuan spice, this one may still be tough to deal with, but it's still incredibly flavorful and enjoyable. Just keep in mind that they don't adjust the heat level for this one. * **The Greens:** These are wonderful. They have a rich, savory pork flavor and are easily a must-order for me every single time. * **Shrimp and Grits:** This has a fantastic sauce that strikes the perfect balance--not too heavy, but not watery either. My only minor wish is that they'd add some andouille sausage to it (even if raised the price), but it's still a really well-executed dish. * **Southern Pho:** Really great and super hearty. It's a comforting bowl, though probably best enjoyed during the winter months. * **Drinks:** The cocktails are always creative and well-made, and they keep a really interesting beer list on hand too. ### 2. The Ambience The vibe here is great. The interior feels like a charming, cozy little house you'd find in Savannah. I especially love the bar area, which has these really cool copper chandelier lights that give the space a warm, inviting glow. ### 3. The Service The staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming every single time I've been here. The Summary I honestly feel lucky to live close to this place. It doesn't get much love or mentions from the Atlanta social media crowd and local press (the good news is you won't encounter a lot of annoying people lol).. I'm a fan though.

They had the exact type of sauvignon blanc that I wanted, which was an immediate win. As a group we settled on the whipped goat cheese and brussel sprouts for appetizers. The brussel sprouts came with bacon so I steered clear, but the others raved about them. The whipped goat cheese dip was also a nice choice with the garden veggies. Super creamy and refreshing. As for my entree I went with risotto of the week with salmon. It was absolutely delicious and I ate every bite. We had a birthday in the group so we of course had to get desserts. We shared the creme brulee and this super decadent chocolate cake. Both with fresh berries, love! The creme brulee was definitely my favorite of the two, but you can't go wrong. Every ingredient had its own distinct flavor, and the tomatoes were especially delicious -- tangy, bright, and citrusy. Such a refreshing and flavorful salad! But my favorite was the Coconut Curry Scallop. The pan-seared Hokkaido scallops were absolutely top-notch -- perfectly seared on the outside while remaining tender and delicate inside. The combination with the creamy coconut curry was incredible. It honestly tasted like something you would expect at an upscale restaurant. If you want to experience elevated, restaurant-quality food with creative flavors, I highly recommend coming here. You can enjoy a variety of beautifully prepared dishes without needing to go to a formal fine-dining restaurant. I finished my meal with a hot, fresh mint tea, which was the perfect refreshing ending to a wonderful meal. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. I would definitely come back!

Service is always great, parking is easy, and the ambiance is fast casual with indoor and outdoor seating. With multiple locations around the city, the Chamblee location has become my go-to since the Decatur spot closed! I almost always order the 3-piece OG chicken (or 4-piece if I'm extra hungry) with rice, a salad with ranch, or fries, both the regular and sweet potato fries are so good! The chicken is always hot, crispy, flavorful, and consistent. I've also stopped by for brunch before and really enjoyed it, so I'm definitely planning to come back soon to check out happy hour and some of their daily specials. Ponko never disappoints!

Rice (brown or white) and ponko breaded chicken with their OG sauce is a better healthier choice than hamburger and fries, but still dang tasty, quick, and well priced. Their cucumber pickles are amazing and I wish I had the recipe. I actually also buy the OG sauce by the bottle cause it's amazing on many things. My only complaint is they recently changed the plates to have only ONE side instead of two, but you get a fountain drink instead. I don't drink soda, and I'm well aware it's cheaper for them to give soda than another side dish, and yet the price for the platters are still the same. I'm just tired of everything getting both more expensive and worse quality everywhere, so it's a bummer. :( But still a good deal considering even McDonalds can be pricy these days.
