we had reservations for a medium sized party in a back room. we called ahead and asked if it would be possible for several people to arrive early so we could relax with a drink at the bar. we were told this would be fine. however, once we arrived (six of us), a surly bartender told us we could NOT order drinks. que? no drinks after specifically being told imbibing a cocktail would be fine? so we milled aimlessly in the empty back room until several people came in and started moving tables together. we only got drinks at that time, because we stopped one of the lovely young men setting up and asked him about it. he went and found a server, who took our orders. it was all sort of weird. food. hmmm. not great, not plentiful. a vegetable plate, some rolls, pulled pork. platters were emptied, but not refilled very quickly. i must say though, the young wait staff was very attentive, refilling waters/teas/coffees, taking new drink orders, clearing plates and utensils. the scenery kind of made up for the unfriendly start to this dining adventure, as where we were seated afforded us an uninterrupted view of personal planes flying in and out. i will not return here, mainly because i live two connecting flights from this state. and two, the weird drink thing and the unhelpful bartender. read more

Brought my grandma here for lunch she didn't really like the blue cheese dressing because she said it was very blue cheese flavored. I got the burger and wedge potato's and they were amazing. First Time going and if it wasn't for me being with a group of people, I would've cut up. We had a party of about 12. The waitress we had could barely handle us. The environment was okay, definitely a flashback in time. We were in a back but it got loud very quickly another party came in. It took forever for us to get our alcohol and it took NO time to get my food which made me question the menu and the . I ordered Steak & Frites and I received it within 5 minutes. ALL of our food was out rather quickly. I would love to believe that this was a one off but the food CANNOT be cooked to order. My steak AND fries were COLD. The plate was cold and if it had been at least sitting under a warmer 1 and/or both would've been WARM. Even with letting a steak rest it would not be COLD. I sent it back to which they warmed it but I was turned off by it at that point. The event for the night was the disco so definitely enjoyed going to the dance floor and at least enjoying that part. One of ATL's best kept secrets, this spot is seriously fun. Located on the grounds of an airport, I popped in for a birthday party at their convivial bar and dancefloor and had the best time, with martinis and dancing abound. I also loved the 1940's air force vibe- one of a kind. One of those old school watering holes from yesteryear, I can't wait to come back and enjoy a meal while watching the planes take off from their picture windows. Only in Atlanta. read more

It was a lovely day to sit by the window and watch the airplanes land and take off. Everything was clean. Positive experience. Just went there around 5:00pm on Wednesday night and they weren't very busy at this time. My wife ordered fish and chips that were not hot and seemed a bit soggy, almost like the oil needed changed in the fryer. Unfortunately, she didn't send them back. I ordered a Rueben sandwich without the dressing and the sauté vegetables. Although the server wrote the ticket without dressing it showed up with dressing (not her fault). She did offer to get a new one made but I told her I would scrape off what I could. The vegetables were mostly red and green peppers and onions with very little squash. As for the server she never offered refills or dessert, my wife asked for an additional plate to put some of her food on, and that was never brought out. We eventually had to go to the front desk to get our ticket. So, this is the reason you received such small tip (TIPS - to insure prompt service). Tips are earned not entitled or owed. read more

This is a really cool place keeping the memory of US Army Air Corps alive for over 40 years. Located next to the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, the French farmhouse inspired restaurant and event space is a one-of-a-kind place. Enter through a narrow sandbag-lined hallway into 1940's France with memorabilia and pictures of WWII fighter planes and bombers. Sitting next to one of the windows, it's easy to imagine that the private planes landing and taking off from the adjacent runway are P-51 Mustangs. There are several sizable rooms for events and groups as well as several bar areas. They also serve a damn good lunch! We had delicious salads and sandwiches for lunch. I highly recommend the 57th Fighter Group sandwich, though you won't go wrong with anything you order. Prices are pretty good with sandwiches with a side in the $18 range. You don't have to be a military buff to enjoy The 57th Fighter Group, but if you know a military buff, you'll score major points bringing them here. read more

The inside is cozy and homey, with fireplaces lit and lots of warm wooden decor. The staff is super nice, patient, and helpful if you have any questions. The crowd definitely skews older, but it's still a fun spot, especially on Wednesdays and weekends when there's live music and dancing in half the restaurant. The food itself is pretty average. I had the vegetable pasta, which was very herby and flavorful. Overall, it's worth checking out for the atmosphere alone. read more

Your elite customers were not seen during Covid. Have some respect for those not in the inner circle. We have not been here in years and forgot how much we enjoyed dining here. On Friday night, Mark was craving a prime rib dinner. The Colonnade prime rib was mediocre and expensive on our last visit so we decided to try 57th. We arrived around 745pm and were able to get a table at the window overlooking the runway. Marist School was hosting their 20th reunion so we were able to enjoy hearing their party music and watching them have fun. Morgan was our server and she was friendly and efficient. Mark and I enjoyed the artichoke crab dip for our appetizer with martinis and Pinot Grigio wine. Mark had the prime rib dinner with the mashed red potatoes with skins on. He loved the prime rib and we both loved the potatoes- they were outstanding. I ordered the dinner special which was a house made salmon burger topped with spicy kimchi and a soy ponzu sauce served on a toasted brioche bun. It came with a side of fries. The sandwich was mid blowing delicious and the fries were hot and crispy. I told Morgan that they need to consider making the salmon burger a standard menu item. I'm pescatarian and love it when restaurants serve creative items like this. Mark and I loved our food, service and ambiance and we are looking forward to coming back for the brunch!! read more

We have been loyal customers of 57th Fighter Group Restaurant for a long time, but after today, we won't be back. While sitting on the patio with our children--a space usually known for being family-friendly--we were approached by the Manager, who was incredibly out of line. He essentially told us our kids needed to 'stop being kids,' telling us to control them and not let them run or yell on the patio. We noticed there were other children present doing the exact same thing, yet he didn't say a word to them. It felt completely discriminatory and like a targeted attack on our family. read more

Usually, I am willing to forgive poor service if the food quality makes up for the lack of attentiveness. But, there are times when lackadaisical service can adversely affect the overall enjoyableness of the food. This was one of those times. The service started off well, but soon fizzled out as the evening progressed. Many of the service issues could have been avoided by simply adhering to the critical fundamentals of restaurant service standards. Servers should be instructed on how to work smarter, not harder. Here are a few specific examples: When a server brings the appetizer to the table, bring appetizer plates for all guests and some extra napkins. This will prevent the patron from having to ask and save the server a trip. When the entrées are served, it is a good idea to bring the necessary condiments to the table at that time. This will prevent the patron from having to ask and save the server a trip. When a server brings to-go boxes to the table, bring a bag to put the boxes in at the same time. This will prevent the patron from having to ask and save the server a trip. The simple request for ketchup took our server so long to fulfill that the food was too cold to enjoyably eat by the time the ketchup bottle arrived at the table. The food has always been decent quality here, even though, like most all restaurants today, it's a pricey proposition. Service is usually lacking, however. We probably would avoid dining here on another Saturday evening. The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant provides a unique setting and ownership capitalizes on that fact. But, a novel atmosphere is just one element of the overall restaurant experience. To drive profits, customers must be satisfied with food and service. read more

This place is an oldie but goodie! I ate here over 20 years ago for my birthday & several brunches when they had bottomless Mimosas. I love the nostalgia from WWII because my grandfather served. Being situated at the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport adds to the atmosphere watching planes take off & fly in. This visit was to celebrate my Mom's birthday with the family. We had a party of 7 - I booked online but that is only up to 6 people. I left a VM that we've added a child to make 7. Shortly after the OpenTable notification reflected 7 so that was seamless. We were seated to watch the planes in a dining room off of the main entry and near the fireplace. It was a little cool as it started raining but warmed up and views of the planes were sporadic. Still the 6 year old in our party loved it! Santa arrived early and the buffet was stacked. Omelette station, prime rib, pancakes, waffles, soups, salad, shrimp cocktail, vegetables, pasta, grits, sausage, eggs, eggs Benedict, scalloped potatoes, salmon cakes, catfish bites, broccoli rice casserole, desserts and more. So much I didn't even try it all. Everything was tasty but I wish it was hotter. My standout was an omelette with veggies and smoked salmon. Overall, a great time. Service was excellent and we got a family photo with Santa. We'll be back on a sunny day soon! read more

First time eating here and it was really a great experience. We arrived at 5:30, shown to a table, and our waitress came over shortly afterwards. The food was very good:there were three of us and had, the cod sandwich with fries, a steak burger with mashed red potatoes, and a beet salad with grilled chicken. All three of us thought the food was good and had no issues with the food or the service. I know looking at some of the previous reviews people mentioned these as issues, but our experience was a good one. We also enjoyed watching all the private jets taking off and landing and the very cool WWII vibe of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend eating here and we'll be stopping in again! read more

This place was perfect for our Christmas Adventure! Myself and three children ages 9,10, and 11 enjoyed a wonderful lunch two days before Christmas. One kid complained her hamburger tasted too much like steak, which is clearly not a problem. Our waiter was so patient and allowed the kids to get distracted with the planes but also tell him what they wanted. He was a true gem. We were able to snag a window seat and watched SOOOO many planes come and go. I would highly recommend this spot for lunch with families or anyone who enjoys watching planes and eating good food! read more

What a unique establishment! It totally deserves 5 stars. We sat outside watching the cool Cessnas and private jets take off. I saw lots of families enjoying the outside seating with space for little ones to roam. Love the World War II images and theme inside reminding us of our freedom and may we never forget how our men fought for this country. Full bar available and we tried the fish sandwich w brussel sprouts and the 57th sandwich w Mac n chez for lunch. Came out nice and hot! Ended up joining more friends inside at the bar area and thoroughly enjoyed the DJ jams on a Sat eve. The dance floor got pretty full as the night went on. So fun! read more

They were a little bit more busy than usual but hardly crowded. And yet I sat for over 15 minutes waiting for somebody to just acknowledge my table. Flew to PDK for the sole purpose of taking a friend to the 57th fighter wing for dinner. The service was by far the worst I've ever experienced at this venue. If the wait staff has a welfare mindset, allow the individual to collect it at home, and not on the payroll at the restaurant. Every engagement that my table, and the tables around me, shared with the waiter, was a result of waving down another staff member. This $100 hamburger was actually $378 with fuel.... I'd encourage my aviation friends to find another venue. There is certainly a leadership issue if this is allowed to continue. The food tasted great... the service was disgraceful. read more
