    Simple and Efficient spot!

Nice quiet atmosphere that is politely tucked in the brewery!I am simple coffee drinker who likes a nice smooth, dark roast. Their coffee was rich in flavor but had a smooth finish. Way better than expected. So glad I found a cute little coffee spot close to home!

Had a delightful experience here with my husband taking a class teaching different brew methods. We arrived with a class already taking place and thought we were late. Steve greeted us and assured us we're fine and that was their espresso class (excited and can't wait to sign up for that in the future!). He led us to the bar and took some time to get to know us and our experience with coffee. Steve was great! Funny, laidback, and very informative. He showed us the different brew methods using the same bean to explore how different brewing styles can change the taste of the coffee. Also explained how to measure your coffee to water ratio. We tried everything from a Chemex to different types of pour overs to a French press. We advanced our vocabulary terms and honed in on our preferred brewing methods and tastes. I never thought I would like the French Press method so much! Also got to try different beans. I was surprised how much we didn't know; this really opened our world to new methods and switch up our coffee routines. Highly recommend taking their classes!

Delicious coffee! I stopped by today to grab an iced coffee and a bag of coffee for home. After speaking to the man running the shop I picked out a coffee that I think both my husband and I will enjoy. The coffee beans were fresh ground for me while I checked out some of the items they have for sale. I grabbed myself a piece of biscotti and some dark chocolate for my husband. My husband really liked the dark chocolate! It's a tad too bitter for me but I like my dark chocolate sweeter than he does. I'll be back in soon to grab some Ethiopian coffee next.

Coffee has always been something I've enjoyed, but recently I've decided I want to make it more of a hobby...I want to learn more about coffee beans and where they come from, how they're roasted, and how to brew them properly at home. A friend of mine recommended I check out La Terza, and I'm so glad I did because if you want to learn about coffee, this should be your very first stop! La Terza is a small local coffee roaster, and they actually sit in the industrial plaza across from Rivertown brewing. You might have seen their coffee featured in restaurants around town, like Maplewood. They have some of the best roasted coffee beans in the area, and they offer CLASSES for people that want to learn how they source coffee, roast beans, and brew them. For a mere $6 I got to take their Saturday morning coffee roasting class, where we actually learned so much and we got to roast some delicious Latin American beans (and drink a LOT of coffee). The teacher, Aaron, and the roaster, Chuck, were so great! They were funny and witty and super passionate about fresh, seasonal, perfectly roasted coffee. I am already going to sign up for my next class on how to brew the perfect cup of coffee at home using your own equipment. Trust me, you will never want to get your coffee from Starbucks again after having a cup from La Terza. Fresh beans just make all the difference in the world. For those interested in getting the freshest possible beans, they also do a coffee bean delivery program. Go check these guys out if you're passionate about coffee!

My husband and I had the opportunity to go on a roastery tour here during a weekend getaway. We have HUGE coffee people and while cupping classes are readily available, it's much harder to get in on a roastery tour! And that is what makes La Terza different - not only do they give tours of the facility but you get to have hands-on training on how to roast beans. So much information packed into a few hours, super beneficial and fun! I went away from this tour learning more about the process of using and roasting beans than I've ever known. Before roasting, Aaron sat down with us and gave us a lesson of where beans come from and we tried several types of beans, including coffees made from "washed" and "natural" beans. He was a great host, coffee enthusiast and teacher!

This spot is 10 min from my house and has become my go-to coffee for the crib. I always come to get a bag of beans but I can't pass up a drink while I'm there. Great beans and killer coffee drinks. It is in a very strange location, but it's worth a step off the beaten path!

Definitely come here for the roasterie tour! In a city that is saturated with breweries, it is nice to have somewhere to take out-of-towners who don't drink beer! I've taken the tour twice, and both times Aaron was our tour guide. He is super knowledgeable and enthusiastic about coffee! I learned a lot and getting to participate in the roasting process is fun. The best part is all the coffee you get to drink while on the tour! Their coffee is so good :)

Delicious fresh roasted coffee. Stop in for a drink and also check out their classes and roasting tours! A gem in our city. Located in the same parking lot as Rivertown Brewery.

Since we were one of the first 1000 attendees that day we received a swag bag that had some coupons and goodies including some stickers and fair trade lip balm. Cool! The coffee selection was diverse and very good. We had never heard of a few of the coffee vendors so it was great trying their coffee and meeting the friendly faces of the owners. There were a few non-coffee business and it was fun tasting their products too. I highly recommend getting a bottle or four of this stuff called beer syrup http://www.thebeersyrupcompany.com/ It will be great on so many things you eat. The latte art throwdown was a cool way for baristas to show off their amazing talent of pouring milk into creative designs. There was a small tv that showed the close up work but most people farther back would not benefit from this. (next year a projector would be great) Like many first festivals in the city, there were some hiccups along the way, but I hope that the producers review the event and correct anything for next year. I could easily see this branching out to include a stronger tea and food/dessert presence. So the negatives: crowded... the Music Hal ballroom is a great place but at most events I've attended here (Crafty Supermarket, Holiday Market), it always seems to clog up in the aisles and people that bring strollers do not help the situation. This event will probably move to the convention center and this will definitely alleviate most of the crowding. Lack of garbage cans. During this event, one samples numerous small cup samples of coffee or tea and then one had to hunt for a can to place the cup. Oh well... So, I hope this event becomes a yearly thing and look forward to attending.

Its…read moregrand ballroom turned out to be the perfect sized venue for the festival as it grows year over year. The quality of vendors was top notch. Of course, you will see plenty of light roasts, natural Ethiopians, single origins, etc. But even if you're not obsessed with coffee, there's something for everyone here. A variety of vendors represented related spaces besides coffee as well. For example, tea, chocolate bars, baked goods, drinking chocolate, handmade ceramic goods, etc. A few of my coffee favorites were Tinker Coffee, Yield Coffee Roasters, and Utopian Coffee. But even if Kalita Waves and Chemexes are not your thing, there were blends and darker roasts too. Savorista offered a specialty coffee quality decaf coffee. I haven't seen that before, and it feels like they're onto something. It's kind of analogous to the current bar trend of low-proof / no-proof cocktails. There were interesting options on the coffee alternatives side as well. Saku Tea creates turmeric, matcha, beet, etc mixes that you prepare like matcha with a bowl and whisk. Cup of Coa produces high quality cocoa-based drinks that are hot, cold, or frozen. From "bigger" companies, both Rishi and Natalie's brought new and experimental products. Rishi Tea offered a mushroom "tea" mix. Natalie's Juice sampled cold pressed juice cocktails as good as their orange juice. I also enjoyed the demo section where a couple of baristas from Rohs in Clifton were making and teaching people about (traditional) macchiatos... optionally with glitter on top. The event is well organized, vendors are great, and the ticket price ($15) is very reasonable. I will definitely come back next year.
