This place was hopping at 4pm on a Thursday! There was a lot of seating with mostly college students working on their laptops or chatting with friends. When I first walked in, I didn't think I'd find a place to sit but I found a little corner with a metal chair and a small table so camped out there and read a book. Service was slow for a coffee shop but I did enjoy my Almond Joy Latté once I got it. The drink was served in a large mug, not a to-go cup, which was a nice touch. read more

So I don't drink coffee, so take my review what it is. 3.5/5 Food: I got the cinnamon roll (delicious) but it was served semi-warm, the frosting was melted in the middle (delicious) but hard on the outside. The bagel bacon and egg was very basic- bacon crumbles on a well done egg round. Don't try to cut the cinammon roll with the fork, it will break. 4.5/5 service: The service was good, the barista was happy and quick. 5/5 ambiance: a nice coffee shop with art, cozy couches, and different nooks to have private convos. read more

The food is more expensive than it's worth. The service is abysmal, they'll forget about your order and leave you waiting. Or they'll give your food away to someone else. The ambiance is the only reason to come. But I would recommend showing up with your laptop and a coffee and breakfast from somewhere else. read more

Upon entering, I was greeted my Olson with a friendly hello. He and the lady working were welcoming and helpful. I came for a breakfast sandwich that I saw on Google that looked delish. It was quite accurate. I got an oat milk latte that was perfect. Shortly after my sausage, egg, and Gouda croissant came out. Fresh, hot, and tasty. The Upside Brew is a cozy cafe in the heart of Clifton. We hopped across the street from Two Seven Two Bakery to grab a morning drink and breakfast. Love the rustic vibes. This is a perfect little spot to study, get some work done, or meet up with a friend. There is plenty of seating throughout the cafe on the right when you walk in. The menu of offerings is exactly what you would expect from a coffee shop: hot and cold drinks, smoothies, tea. They also have an assortment of breakfast items from breakfast sandwiches to flatbreads. We opted for the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel on an everything bagel, and a hot chai latte to pair. The breakfast sandwich came out hot and delicious. The bagel was a bit thin and portion size on the smaller end, but it would make for a great snack on the move. Chai latte was tasty, just enough fragrance without tasting too milky. Staff were friendly and worked hard to get all the morning orders out on time. All in all, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Drinks and service are on point. If you're craving a breakfast sandwich, it will do the job. This spot is dope. If I lived near by, I have no doubt that I'd be here on the regular. There's street parking and a lot out back. A ton of space inside to pop a squat and get some work done. Plenty of outlets so you can keep your gadgets juiced up and the wifi was strong, too. I absolutely loved all the art work on the walls as well. The service was super friendly and helpful when I asked questions and for suggestions. While I was there, I tried three things. I ordered a latte that was just what I needed, and a breakfast sandwich - yummy. I also ordered the almost paradise smoothie after I was told it was the most popular choice. It came with mango, strawberry, pineapple, OJ, and spinach. It was the perfect balance of sweet while knowing that it was packed full of fruit and rather healthy. I was shocked on how good the coffee was. I added oat milk to the coffee as well. The coffee shop was very clean and had a really good feel to it. I'd like to put in a good review for Marissa & Cat. I came into the shop Friday & was nicely warmly welcomed in amazingly by Marissa which was so great it made me feel a golden comfortable welcoming that made me feel a whole lot better based on my previous interaction before walking into upside. Kat also assisted Marissa with her great assuring attendance as well. I had ordered a drink & pastry that nicely warmed up for me & requested to confirm before purchasing that I wouldn't be bothered by anyone so I could focus on my work to complete some business that moved me up to the next level. The whole time I was able to stay focused unbothered getting everything I needed completed amazingly perfectly as I wanted. I was so happy & joyful because I was able to successfully complete a huge accomplishment that I had been working up to to complete that day. I write to not just thank Marissa on how she made me feel that day coming in, but to also point out the exceptional service that Marissa with Kats assistance provided that ultimately had me feeling so good by the end of the night that I didn't want to write a review, I needed to write a review to exit the shop before close. Great spot, nice people, horribly inefficient. I just had to cancel a breakfast order because there's no sense of urgency for young people working in the service industry. I watched a young man (the only one cooking/serving) take things to a customer one at a time. She wanted water, then she wanted a lime, then she wanted a fork. Sure, he was nice enough to walk those to her ONE AT A TIME, but that meant everyone (including me) is waiting for him to start actually preparing the food we're waiting on. In the end I had to cancel the order. I stood there for a solid five minutes and he hadn't even STARTED to work in the food of two people ahead of me, so I knew it was a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, this place EVENTUALLY does good work, but unless you want to spend all day waiting on young people to slowly navigate the store (kindly, but slowly) and still not get your food, just go elsewhere. read more

After seeing this coffee house every single time we go to our favorite Indian restaurant across the street, we finally decided to walk in. We were not disappointed! This is a large and comfortable coffee house with lots of places to sit and work or catch up with a friend. Lots of art work on the wall, which can also be purchased. Rude rude rude. Ive left comments before about the poor customer service here. Today, I was there again trying to do work and the music as always was blaring. I knew I'd get dirty looks if I nicely asked if it could be turned down because I had before so I powered through. An older woman went up however and did ask. The girls reluctantly lowered it the tiniest amount and then when she walked away turned to each other and scoffed "this isn't a library" they said for everyone to hear. Completely rude. I'm tired of giving this place more chances. The food and coffee is good but a business shouldn't be rewarded for treating people the way I've witnessed. I've even heard people in Sitwells talk about how unfriendly Upside is so it's not just me. read more

Their chicken salad sandwiches and Almost Paradise smoothies are the best. I also like their interior and it's a nice place to study. This time I tried their British Islander latte. It was decent, but unfortunately it took 25 minutes for me to get my coffee. I guess they forgot to make it because people who ordered after me got their orders before me. This may be my new favorite coffee shop! I'm not sure what it was, but this space really transported me... I felt like I wasn't in Cincinnati anymore. I really love the exposed brick and beautiful local artwork. You can tell that they do a good job of curating the artwork, this was one of the few times where I really wanted to pause and look at the artwork in a coffee shop. I would definitely want to own some of these pieces. You know what's more beautiful than the artwork here? The customer service. I would be shocked if the gentleman who helped me wasn't the owner, he seemed bound and determined to connect with each customer and make recommendations. He upsold me on an addition to my flatbread and I wasn't even mad about it... Take my money, Upside Brew! My cold brew was delicious and kept me caffeinated while I worked. The artwork on the walls was stunning as well! It seemed like all the pieces were all from local artists, I saw one woman bringing in some new pieces while I sat.
