Steadfast in its consistency and always committed to high-quality, this bakery is the best in the greater area of Maplewood. Locals will come to this place to buy their apple pies, spinach Gruyère quiche and home baked cookies. Absolutely everything in this bakery comes out fresh and you can tell. Even peeking into the front window demonstrates the craftsmanship and attention to detail paid by staff for preparing the goods. The products are well packaged and really hit the spot no matter what mood you are in. They have seasonal cookies and other treats so come ready! A+ bakery for so many reasons.

It's a very clean place, with excellent costumer service and kind staff. Their treats are all so yummy too! It's a great place!

This is such a cute bakery! They have a perfect array of cookies, cupcakes, scones, and other goodies! I've tried the scones, royal frosted cookies, and now the lemon loaf (GF) and have loved them all. It does tend to be busy but the staff is friendly and moves you on through. There is limited outdoor seating nearby so plan to bring your goodies outside or to the car. Prices are not listed for pastries and it isn't cheap - but I say worth it!

I love the location of the Abel Baker, right in the beginning of the heart of maplewood. I spotted their outdoor pick up window and I just had to try a few goodies. Their menu is a good size, not too overwhelming. I wanted to try a few different things so I asked the worker what some of his favorites were. I went with the chocolate chip cookie, the blueberry lemon crumb, the banana bread and the chocolate chip scone. The star of the show was the banana bread. I am a sucker for a great slice of banana bread and this one was really really good. It was super moist and not too overwhelming with any flavor particularly. My second favorite was the chocolate chip cookie. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. The blueberry lemon crumb was ok. It didn't stand out to me, the flavors were a little bland. The scone was also just all right, I know scone is meant to be dry but this one was just a little too dry for me. If you're ever in the area definitely stop by for a slice of banana bread and I'll definitely be back to try their cupcakes, they also looked fabulous. The staff was also super friendly and helpful.

Alll gluten free: Chocolate chip pumpkin loaf slice, double chocolate cookie, vanilla/cherry scone and cranberry orange loaf slice.

I'm writing this from a gluten sensitive family. We are not celiac. This is officially our favorite discovery as of yet. Unlike many places that make gluten free baked goods that don't break when you throw them against the wall, this gem of a place has the finest gluten free baked goods. We got the cherry vanilla scones, pumpkin chocolate chip bread, double chocolate cookies and the cranberry orange cake slices. The cakes are soft and moist. Flavors were spot on. There wasn't even a hint of dryness. We also picked up a small flourless chocolate cake that was packaged. For celiacs, this was the only item that was pre-packaged and away from other gluten containing goods. The only recommendation would be to completely separate gluten free foods to avoid cross contamination. Super friendly service! Definitely absolutely will be back again!!

Blueberry cake slice- not too sweet but it was okay

Beautiful bakery, smells delicious and the baked goods are the best. Service is fast and phenomenal.. the cupcakes are the best things I have eaten so far. Staff is super friendly and when I came back to grind the coffee beans although it was closing time they welcomed me in

My wife goes there fairly often; I, on the other hand, only go occasionally. Over the years, I had always been happy with the quality of the products they sell, but lately the pricing has gotten completely out of hand. We were there this past Saturday for breakfast. We shared a shakshuka and had two mocha coffees in the table area, and my wife also ordered a salmon toast. That was it. Somehow, this breakfast cost as much as four meals we had at an Israeli restaurant in NYC the very next day -- and, by the way, those meals were far superior to anything I've ever had at Liv. While at the NYC restaurant, we noticed they charge only $7 for fresh-squeezed orange juice -- in a larger portion than Liv's $12 glass of OJ. Their shakshuka is also only $16, compared with Liv's $22. And this place is in the heart of NYC, not in suburbia New Jersey. I also used to love getting Liv's cookies and croutons, but those have become expensive beyond reason as well. Two packs of cookies, one crouton, and a mocha coffee came to over $50. Seriously? At this point, it is clear to me that the owner's strategy is to keep raising prices to see how much he can get away with. Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'm done. I will no longer be patronizing this kind of price gouging.

Finally got to experience this place after hearing of it for more than 2+ years! I've heard at…read moretimes this Coffee spot can be pretty packed, so I feel like I came on a really good day. First off: Service. I told the employee that this was my first time there, and they were more-than-happy to help me make a decision for my order. Patient and walked me through. Second: The Food. Let's get into it. 1) Cassava Latte ($7.50) - I was so pleasantly suprised at this drink; described as "(i)nspired by the Filipino dessert cake, made with condensed milk and coconut." The first sip, and I was intrigued! It was perfectly sweet, and the perfect mix of that coconut-dessert taste that cassava typically delivers! It tasted genuine, if that's possible. 2) Sinigang Croquette ($5.00) - This was interesting. Described as "Pork and Gabi (taro) shaped into a patty, rolled in Japanese bread crumbs, and deep fried. Served with our in-house sawsawan (dipping sauce)", it hit all the right notes. To be honest? $5.00 for 1 felt a bit steep. I'd pay $7.50 for two, though! 3) Boy Bawang Shio Pan ($7.50) - This was the most curious of all my purchases. Described as an "(i)n-house salt bread rolled in garlic and corn crumbs, filled with roasted garlic butter, topped with corn cheese whip. Inspired by the popular Filipino snack: Boy Bawang. THIS ITEM I SING ITS PRAISES. I am an absolute lover of the Boy Bawang Garlic Flavor Corn Snack --- much more pungent than anything Corn Nuts could ever offer. This Shio Pan absolutely delivered with its roasted garlic flavor! And as soon as you take a few bites ---- you get hit with that roasted garlic butter --- and let me tell you, they are not shy about their filling! Absolute master class --- but it's only for a limited run. You should definitely try! Third: Ambiance - The Cafe is quaint --- and has a seating area that could maybe fit between 18-24 people? It's just along the side of the business, but I managed to get a table for myself. Ayala, you did not disappoint! Can't wait to try your Sisig Flatbread for the next round!

I had the sisig flatbread and the pork croquette. The sisig flatbread had very unique and complex flavors. I thought it was very creative. The croquette was fresh and tasty, but it was truly the sauce that came with it that was the star of the show. It bold and vinegary and tasted great with the sisig flat bread as well. I tried a bit of my friend's pandan waffle and it was quite tasty! I could really taste the pandan. Now the bad. The ube latte was mediocre. I asked for mine with matcha, but I really couldn't even taste the matcha. I think next time I might try their other drinks to see if there is a difference. However, I was really expecting better. Overall: I'd say the food is better than the drinks, which is a bit of a disappointment because I was hoping for both to be out of this world. The service was good and the staff was very kind. I also enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant as well.
