I was a little disappointed with the heat of the chicken since I was expecting it to be spicy with the good kick! We ordered the medium slider and hot tender. I got the number 4 - chicken on mac n cheese on fries. First the good: It's a generous serving size and the staff was nice. The rest is bad. The place is not easy to find, but many of the best hole-in-the-wall places are like that, so I will NOT hold that against them. Sodas are listed as $3.25 for a bottle, but I was charged $4.50. I didn't argue about it, so not sure if it's a price increase or was a mistake. None-the-less, either overcharged or over-priced. I paid ~$22 for my one food item and my soda including tax. The food was the big disappointment. The fries and the mac n cheese were completely flavorless. You wouldn't even know you were eating fries and mac n cheese if you couldn't see them. The chicken itself was mediocre at best. I got the medium heat. It was pretty mild. On that I get it. You don't want to scare people away with the spice level. I wouldn't eat here again, but if I did, I would get the next spice level up. It had a great level of crispness to it, so that's actually another positive. Again though, almost completely flavorless. Then, perhaps to try to mask the lack of flavor, they coat it all in their "secret sauce" which is really just a thousand island type aioli. Unfortunately this missed the mark. We went by for lunch on a Saturday and got two Combo #3's. The space is not too big. You order at the front and pick up your order at the counter when it's ready. There were two other parties there when we arrived. We waited around 10-15 minutes for two orders. The cashier was nice. The Combo #3 is a slider and a tender with fries. I found the batter to be quite greasy and falling off. I ended up peeling a lot of it since it kept coming apart. The flavor was nonexistent. It needed more salt, spices, anything at all. Another great spot for fried chicken sandwiches! The chicken is juicy and tender on the inside and extremely crispy on the outside. The slaw & pickles complement the sandwich well and balance out the heat of the chicken. I think the only thing is the levels of spice are off in my opinion. We got "hot&hot" and expected a spicier sandwich. The two levels above were extra spicy and reaper so we assumed they would be a lot. Next time, we will order a spice level up. Parking was easy enough - it's in the same plaza as 7leaves so it can be a little crowded but I've never had a problem with finding a spot yet. Their menu is simple and we grabbed the combo with 2 sliders and fries - average price and similar to other chicken sandwich places. While the sliders look huge, I think the bread to chicken ratio is a bit off as I felt like the buns are quite big compared to the chicken piece. I personally was not a fan of the taste (chicken seasoning was lacking and the bread had an overpowering taste) but my partner was able to finish his sandwich although it was not his favorite. Fries were also not that crispy sadly! The lady helping us at the front was very nice though. The batter literally tasted like batter: flour and water; I couldn't detect much other than that. I ended up scraping the batter off and just eating the chicken by itself. *Terrible street visibility, as you can't see them from just casually passing by. The Ugly: *We walked in a little after noon and didn't walk out with our food until close to 12:50. Mind you, we only ordered chicken tenders and nothing else. So, it's not like we're being complicated. It took almost 5min before we were acknowledged; once we were acknowledged, it turned out there was an issue with the POS so that took another 5+min to figure out; she got the register going but then we couldn't use cc but luckily we had cash; we then placed our order and it took another 25min to get our food which is a bit audacious, considering we were the only people in the store. Upon entering, the workers were in the back but there's a bell you can ring to let them know you're inside and ready to order. I'm not sure if our add on was made incorrectly because it looks like we got a tender meal. The sandwich itself was quite good. I was skeptical because there were multiple reviews saying how it's soggy and has no flavor, but I thought the seasoning on the chicken was good, and it was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My only complaint about the sandwich is that the chicken isn't flattened to fill out the bread, so I had a lot of bites of just bread. He told me he can match the misquoted price if I pay cash + get one half side. I agreed, cash. Confirmed order was NOT cancelled and confirmed pick up time and date. These messages were all WITHIN THE SAME HOUR. The day of our event comes, I received 3 text messages, 2 reminders/confirming the order, 1 text stating my order is ready to be picked up. My friend goes to pick up the order, and the workers are saying it was cancelled so they didn't make it. I text the owner and he noted that the workers don't understand and they will remake the order now. Now they have to wait for 20 chicken sandwiches to be made... 30 mins AFTER my pick up time. The owner confirmed I will be paying CASH via text which I confirmed cash. The workers made my friend pay using the self checks out kiosk with CARD and paid the FULL PRICE lol. I went to the plaza for an errand and discovered this shop. Surprising, given that it's been around for a few months. Given that it's a Nashville hot chicken place, I had to try it. A brief scroll through Yelp reviews gave me some idea what to expect. The highlight of the day is the fries combo (#4). It is LOADED. It has two chicken tenders, fries, mac, and cheese in one package. As others have commented, the food portions are huge for the price paid. I could not finish this in one sitting. As to the heat, I got it extra hot but don't worry, it's not that spicy. It's extra hot is not as spicy as that of Dave's and especially not Angry Chickz. That's not a problem in general as it means it's more accessible to people, but that means I'm intrigued to try the Reaper in the future. One thing that would make this place better is if they had TVs playing sports--I think it would help the place draw in a larger crowd, at least on the weekdays. The plaza usually does not receive much foot traffic (outside of 7Leaves) during that time. One thing I found interesting is the place is open past midnight on the weekends. This place is very similar to Dave's Hot Chicken as they both have nearly identical menus. I prefer this place over Dave's. I got the combo #5 which is a chicken slider and some fries. I ordered the chicken as hot hot spice level. It's a bit unfortunate that they serve chicken tenders only. The piece in the sandwich wasn't really that big, so maybe 1/4th of the sandwich had no chicken. Looking at past photos, the chicken looked a lot bigger and had better coverage. The hot hot spice wasn't too bad, I could feel it but I wasn't begging for water. Overall taste of the sandwich was pretty good. Buns looked a bit defeated. As you can see from my pics, the top buns of both sliders were burnt. The inside of the bun were not toasted. There were only 1 chicken tender per slider and it was only big enough to cover half the bun. With each bite I took, the bread pretty much disintegrate onto my hands. As for the fries, they were cold. I wonder if they had cooked the fries first and then cooked the sliders? I will say, it's a very straight forward menu which I appreciate, and the service was on the slower side but certainly well meaning. My total was around $25 for three sliders/sandwiches, fries and a water and the food tasted great, and fed 3 people! Such a great deal!
