It was inevitable, price has increased. 2 item combo is 10.99 and 3 items is 11.99 I come from time to time and even though the price has gone up, this is still the spot for my American Chinese food fix in this area.

Something about old and dingy hole in the wall restaurants that I really enjoy. Place is a budget friendly Chinese take out restaurant that doesn't skimp on the portion. Sure it isn't amazing food but the food is good and the people that work here are very sweet and have been there forever. I will continue to support this Ma and Pap joint as long as they're business.

    Menu

This place is a perfect for those who likes Chinese express, it's one of my go-to place

IMHO We were searching for another Chinese take-out place that offers party trays, after our favorite closed. We've lived on the eastside for over 40 years but had never been to Orient Express, which has been here for 30 plus years. It was a tad dark when we first walked in, and the lady behind the counter seemed slightly startled when she saw us. We asked her a few questions about party trays and if there was a paper menu to hand out. No paper menus, unfortunately. She showed us the two sized trays available but didn't tell us any prices. We decided to order a lunch box of two items and choice of chow Mein, or fried rice for $9.99 plus tax. Our food choices were the chow mein, garlic chicken w/ veggies, and Peking spareribs. They give generous portions, and I weighed the box when I got home. It weighed a whopping 2 lb. 5 oz.!!! I only wish they had a larger menu choice for their party trays. They don't offer my favorites of salt & pepper chicken, or salt & pepper pork, crispy fish, etc. Will we return? Sure. The price is right for quantity portion. (Cash only.)

The lady that serves the food at this place is the nicest person you would ever meet. I been going here for many years and food never disappoints. The one little inconvenience is that you have to pay with cash, but it's seriously not a big deal and the person serve a lot of food for a great price.

Ok fusion Chinese food, the great thing is they pack the to go box and really fill it up. I love supporting these kind of places but my benchmark is always panda express, reason for review rating is the panda versions are better than what I got here. Orange chicken, had a lot of breading, the chicken was a weird color though everything was cooked properly and tasted fine. Fried rice had very little vegetables and egg, I would just consider this a soy sauce rice and it would be fine, the good thing about it was it as not too oily. Would repeat, maybe it was an off day, do like the huge portions they give out here!

Although it's an online menu, we ordered via the server and food was freshly made. The tables are not big and we had to shuffle dishes around. Food quality wise was not that impressive though. We tried: - coke chicken wing: does not taste like coke chicken wing, lacking the fried element on the outside, more like a sweet soy sauce chicken wing - pan fried buns: ok, has juice inside, but some part of the bun was too hard. - regular XLB: tasted ok as there's soup inside. The wrapping can be thinner. - rainbow XLB: the most disappointed dish. They were almost all broken when we tried to pick them up. The pink one I got was curry beef and it just tasted weird. The green one which we presumed is spinach wrapping is actually a veggie XLB. - Garlic noodle with spam and veg: This is the best dish of all. There are slices of soft mushroom, good garlic flavor, we had spam and cabbage added. $13.60 for plain noodle and toppings such as protein and veg are each $2-$3 on top. -Garlic Kale: also good, chopped garlic brought up good flavors and the kale are fresh. -Ube buns: freshly made and not overly sweet, good size and quality, but 4 for $13.5 is not that affordable. Total damage before tips is $104. I think I still prefer Shanghai #1 for pan fried buns and other Shanghainese dishes.

You place your order through a QR code, which makes the process quick and easy. This visit, we ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, Tidu Sliced Beef Pot, and Tianjin Eggplant. The wings are a must-order here. They're always perfectly fried and crispy on the outside while still staying juicy and tender inside. The Tidu Sliced Beef Pot reminded me of a dry hot pot. It had a great mala flavor with a subtle numbing sensation, and the peanuts added a nice crunch and texture to the dish. The Tianjin Eggplant was simple but delicious, with flavorful pork that paired really well with the soft eggplant. Overall, the food here is comforting and satisfying. It's a place I'll definitely keep coming back to.

It's in a busy complex, but there was enough parking. When I walked in, I noticed they had a half-empty dining room but a ton of to-go orders wrapped up, including mine. I really loved the Mongolian beef, and the eggplant dish we got was good too. The chow mein was good. I did like the cucumber salad, but it would be better if it were sliced smaller, so the marinade could infuse the cucumbers. Service was friendly. Food was very fresh. I did notice the portion sizes were generous and we had plenty of leftovers!

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
