Here, it was actually really good--crispy, flavorful, and not overly fatty like many other spots. The bánh mì chả cá also surprised me. I'm pretty picky about chả cá because a lot of places don't make it fresh--it's often too soft and has a slightly fishy smell. This one was different. It had that slightly chewy texture and tasted fresh, just like the authentic chả cá I had back in Vietnam. This is my go to spot for chicken. I'm telling you everything here is good but my favorite is the ga moui ot, the Thai is good too. It comes with veggies and fried sticky rice which is hecka good, goes well together. I've been buying so many trays I wished they had a stamp card. The service is quick and fast, now I just call in and place an order. It's a small little shop with some tables but majority of people usually just get togo. I haven't tried the duck yet but the heo quay is good too with the banh hoi. If you want to be safe go with the chicken and get the whole one. Lots of flavors, trust me. But customer service was great, and the lady who took our order explained the selections and gave suggestions on what to order. The price point is on the higher side, but we felt that it was well worth it! The chicken options consisted of half a chicken and some fried sticky rice. It came with these amazing sauces that I am absolutely in love with! We wanted to try the pork belly, but the only options you see on the menu are for party trays, which were very expensive. Saw this famous store on instagram and thought at first they sell fried chicken instead of grilled chicken. I asked the question many times to owner, thank God he has so much patient in answering my question. Especially coming from a non-Viet person like me, it can be annoying to him. He explained if the chicken is deep fried, the meat inside would not be moist and plain dry. We tried their salt and spicy grilled chicken, also their lemongrass grilled chicken. Both were delicious. It wasn't as flavorful as it looked, and the kaffir lime leaves tasted bitter. Definitely had to dip the chicken into the green sauce..which is similar, if not the same, as the sauce we'd dip for grilled seafood. 3.5/5* #06 CHAN GA NUONG $25 -grilled chicken feet. I got it with sot thai la chanh -thai style with lime leaf. It came with two sauces, an orangey chili sauce and their green sauce. They only gave us rau ram and no do chua. I didn't get to eat it until we got home but the sauce on the chicken feet was SUPER satisfying this time around. Not too salty and perfectly sweet.. It also came with two cracked sauces which is similar to Mexican salsa. The green sauce was a citrusy cilantro style and the orange sauce is a spicy sweet habanero sauce. I definitely needed buckets of these sauces to drench my chicken in. I will definitely ask for extra or pay for it next time. I also got a pound of roast pork, which was OK. I wanted to try this place for a while and finally had a chance to order this weekend. We ordered Ga Nuong Muoi Ot, Sot Thai Lang and Chan Ga Nuong a few days in advance. When we went to pick up the order, they didn't have the chicken feet lol. We waited for about 20 minutes for our order. I also think they gave us the wrong order because the Muoi Ot one has so much garlic in there. We added the crispy pork belly to our order and I've had better elsewhere. Anyway, I'm glad to see them transition from a home kitchen to brick-and-mortar shop, but it seems like they are still learning to manage the flow of orders so I hope things will run more smoothly in the future. This is a local, family owned place in SJ. The owners are a great couple. I love their roasted pork (in Vietnamese it's called thit heo quay). You can order this by the lb, or if you want the combo. The combo comes with the netted noodles (banh hoi) and lots of the lettuce (rau). They also give you their special house dipping sauce.
