So glad its now available in San jose even though it's in a digital kitchen. Came in make our selection at the kiosk and waited for our chicken meal. Ordered a 4 piece chicken meal with rice and yucca fries. Chicken was hot crust was very crunchy had delicious seasoning, however, it was a bit on the greasy side. Pollo Campero is located at a ghost kitchen next to the airport. They offer individual meals, family meals, sides, add-ons and other items including sandwiches and even empanadas. I have pretty much tried almost the entire menu after ordering from this location over 20 times now. There are days when I really love the chicken. When you receive it hot and fresh, it is crispy, juicy and has a lot of flavor. But when it's not hot and fresh, it kind of tastes blah. So I pretty much try to order it right when it opens because that's when it's more fresh. My favorites are the fried chicken, grilled chicken and also their little camperitos which is like chicken nuggets. I ordered directly from their website because it is much cheaper and you can see the entire menu on their website. I hope one day they would open a brick and mortar location so that it makes dining inside much easier. If it's your first time ordering, order two pieces of the fried chicken and then two pieces of the grilled chicken and try it out and let me know what you think of it. read more

I placed a future pickup order but the app is buggy in that you can only pick a time after the current time of when you're placing the order. Despite the scheduling, my food wasn't ready for another 30 mins, and ended up being cold by the time I made it home 10 mins later. Onto the food itself, the chicken was tasty but fairly oily. The skin had a good crisp to it. The plantain sides were sweet but could have had crispier edges. The chicken comes with a choice of dinner roll or 2 tortillas. The chicken smelled and looked good, but it was not crispy. It had good flavor tough but it just wasn't crispy. The corn salad was good, and it came with diced peppers and feta cheese. The coleslaw was okay, it tasted like regular coleslaw with no special flavors or ingredients. The french fries had good flavor but it also was not crispy and soggy. Nothing special here IMO. I tried the 8 piece fried chicken meal. I forget what I paid but it was almost $40 out the door and it wasn't worth the money. Sides - coleslaw and rice. Portions were small including the mini chicken pieces (did I order nuggets by accident?). Heavy mayo based coleslaw was edible. Rice was tasty but again, serving size was too small for the money. Fried chicken flavor wasn't bad, just not exceptional. I really don't think it's much better than kfc. If you're picking up at the kitchen just be aware that the parking lot is busy with a lot of food delivery folks in and out in a hurry. read more

I love that Pollo Campero is San Jose we now don't have to drive to SF. The only downside is that there is never any parking. The handicap parking is taken by the Doordash or Uber drivers that mind you don't have a handicap plac. The Digital Kitchen should a designated area on the side for them to park and shoot the breeze. As someone who eats Pollo Campero every time I travel (El Salvador, Dallas, San Francisco to name a few) it's safe to say I know what to expect. We were so happy to discover a new Pollo Campero in San Jose. Finally something reasonably close. We ordered online for pick-up at this Digital Kitchen location. A new concept where I suppose each restaurant operates in some hidden commissary like kitchen(s) and people pick up their food from an assigned cubby hole. There's almost zero human interaction. From the get-go something was off when the website checkout process was interrupted because neither Yucca Fries nor Corn Salad were available. Yucca Fries not available?!? We picked up our order from the cubby hole and got our food back to the car and experienced the following: 1). The chicken empanadas were undercooked. The dough was not crisped all the way through and just looked white, chewy and raw. I got the feeling they went into the frier frozen and came out early. 2). The chicken sandwiches were a new thing for us. We were excited to try them and ordered both the grilled and the fried versions. Each sandwich was bun, chicken and pickles (that's it). No culinary marvel. The chicken did not taste like pollo campero. The pickles tasted strange. Like dill pickles without the dill. It was more like eating kfc, except kfc or popeyes or chick fillA is better. Fine. We experimented and it failed. Move on to the good stuff. 3). The chicken was spiced correctly. It was definitely pollo campero, BUT the skin was soggy instead of crispy and the chicken was just inedibly greasy. Looks to me like the pieces were refried rather than cooked fresh. Otherwise I cannot explained the soggy greasy mess. Not what we were hoping for AT ALL. 4). Fried Platanos were fine. Greasy but fine. 5. Rice was chewy and old 6). I couldn't bring myself to try the coleslaw Looks like we'll be driving to SF's Mission District for our next order if we get desperate. I don't remember the original campero flavor from back home (Honduras) but I loved it... the coleslaw 0 stars.. it's only mayo, cabbage, and some bell peppers.. no salt not yummy sweet flavor... like nothing.. or maybe a new person was on training and messed it up lol Bread.. it's just a regular dinner roll so ehh 2-3 stars... Fríes.. 4 stars .. they were freshly cooked and on point I'm a Fries lover so I know which ones taste great.. however box looked half empty... the time when I ordered said 25 mins and yes my order was ready in 25 mins.
