Horrible grooming! This was how my dog looked after being Groomed at Pet Keepers in Poway! NEVER USE!

Should rate -200 stars! Groomers need to be more accountable for their mistakes! Has been groomed many times, and never happened prior to this visit! Mistakes happen, but own it. Don't lie and tell me it was due to his cowlick, just apologize for your actions!

We have used The Animal Keeper for daycare and boarding for a few months now and we have had a wonderful experience each time! Our dog is always so well taken care of here and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. You can definitely trust that you are leaving your fur baby in the best hands possible! When we boarded our dog last week, we were even sent a photo update of how he was doing, which made us feel so reassured. We will continue to use The Animal Keeper as we believe they are the best!

Overall I had a pretty good experience with the Animal Keeper in Poway. I requested a tour of the place and they were able to schedule one and gave me a rundown. They offer lots of different services for different kinds of dogs. My dog prefers to play with people than other dogs so we signed up for the solo play. I dropped off my pup and the transition in was done quickly. I had my pup here for 3 days and 2 nights. I had asked them in person and in my notes to send pictures and updates whenever they could. I didn't hear anything from them and I couldn't reach them until the last day when I called them. The person that answered the phone was able to send over a picture they took and let me know how he was doing so I felt relieved but it would've been nice if I was getting updates during his stay and if I could reach them before the day he was getting picked up. Besides this I would say that we had a good experience with them and I would have my pup stay here again if needed

Two weeks late but boy do these doggies still smell so good. Special thanks to Animal Keeper for accommodating our fur babies and adhering to their special requests. Highly recommended! Staff was very friendly and helpful. They even helped me bring them in and out of my car. Pricing was very reasonable and there was no "fine print" hidden charges. We will definitely be coming back!

We LOVE The Animal Keeper!! My pup Kiko has been going to camp weekly and has been boarded there during our vacations for over 5 years (our previous dog Cinnamon who was blind went there for 8 years prior to Kiko). The staff is amazing and I always feel at ease knowing my pup is going to be well taken care of (he is a handful!). When we walk in I'm am always greeted with a smile (it might be because Kiko has 2 paws up on the front counter) but the staff is genuinely happy to see both me and my pup. When I pick him up it is the same except I have a happy (but tired) dog. Camp did its job. They also are amazing communicators. Sometimes I call them when I am on vacation to check on him. They always give a complete report. I highly recommend The Animal Keeper.

Our dog on her best behavior thanks to Garrett!

We've boarded our 2 year old goldendoodle here and we've also had her come to day camp a few times. It's always been a pleasant experience, the facility is clean, and the staff is welcoming. After we had a baby late last year, it became apparent that our very doodley doodle, who was used to being an only child, needed something a little more structured. We purchased the 20 visit Dayschool punch card and had Garrett as our dog's trainer. Garrett has been so amazing and patient with our girl. We just can't say enough nice things about this experience. Our dog is 100x much more compliant and well behaved which gives me such peace of mind, especially with the new baby. Our dog loves Garrett so much and is so excited everytime we pull up to the parking lot. She is on the more anxious side so this says a lot! Garrett has been wonderful with us humans too. He was great at communicating with us, was always professional, and was very reliable. We also appreciated how flexible he was with our irregular schedule. We're so sad our training has come to an end, but so happy with the final result!

Hi! Are small and large dogs separated in different play areas?

Yes they are!

Does my dog need to be neutered in order to attend daycare or to be boarded?

Hi Angela! Your pup does not need to be neutered in order to be boarded or attend our private daycare. However, if he would like to participate in the group play with other pups, he does need to be neutered. We hope to see you & your pup in soon!

What time do you open in the morning for drop off?

Hi Jean, thanks for asking! Monday - Friday we open at 7 am for drop off and Saturday & Sunday we open at 8 am for drop off. We hope to see you soon!

How are naps taken during doggie daycare? Are dogs kept in crates?

Sally thanks for your question. We have a pretty large play area so there are shaded areas where dogs can rest. We do not crate dogs in the yard to rest.

I'm trying to contact the Poway office but the number is disconnected. Is there another number to call?

How much is this a day?

Jennifer, A day of daycare at our Poway location $32 and a half day is $19 which consist of 4 hours or less. A night of Boarding cost $37. I hope this answers your questions.…

I am truly amazed and so grateful for Don, Gabe, and the team at Crafty Canine Club. They have a ton of certified experience and have done fantastic behavioral modification work with my French Bulldog (and myself) in their board and train programs. I have learned to be a better leader for my dog and how to keep him mentally balanced so he's at his best. The structure of the training programs and regular boarding at CCC are solid and well planned so our furry family can learn and have fun in a safe environment while in the care of strong leadership. A bonus in my particular case; CCC techniques are aligned with what is recommended by my board certified vet behaviorist and was covered by my pet insurance. CCC communicates with me openly and regularly before, during, and after any bookings and will send photos and videos of the fun which helped ease my thoughts in the beginning. Now, I will only use CCC for care and follow up training for my boy. I believe they truly care about him and our relationship. A very small investment for huge lifelong returns you won't regret!

No need to asses our dogs until we are clear we want them to stay there, right? It's a "requirement" that we all know the boss can easily accomodate. Just sent another business to go to if I wanted a "phone consult" which was unusual(&manipulative :/) because we never discussed phone consults..all we wanted was to come take a peak at their facilities. It was the male who's voice is on their answering machine whom we communicated with. I think his name was Dan? Aweful & too bad;).

"Boot camp" options seemed extreme, so I called Bark Busters (BB), seeking in-home private lessons. Justin responded the same day I left a message, and we talked about my concerns with our new rescue. I decided to try the BB program, which ended up being the BEST DECISION for my pup and for me! Justin set up our first session with trainer/coach James. James spent much of the 1st session going through the goals, objectives and concepts of training, including a timeline based on reasonable expectations of my dog. James spent a lot of time explaining how to "read" my dog's behavior, and how to properly respond. He explained the concepts behind each step, which helped me to understand not just what to do, but why (thus enabling me to understand how to deploy the training to different situations). James also set up scenarios to practice, going through each step so I could gain confidence in what my role is while helping my dog settle. It really is about training the owner how to work with the dog. James provided summaries of each session, plus videos demonstrating how I can use different responses/techniques to reshape how my dog reacts to stressful situations. I saw significant progress very early in the training, and was surprised at how quickly we were able to help my dog understand his role (and to feel safe) in our home. The best part is that if I need more help, I just have to reach out to James/BB and schedule more sessions - this is included in the initial program. Given that it takes a rescue dog a while to COMPLETELY settle in, new issues could arise as time passes, and if so, all I have to do is call to set it up. In summary, Bark Busters is a GREAT dog training program, and James is a FANTASTIC BB trainer/coach! Definitely recommend BB to owners that want help with their dogs!

But, Xavier explained that it was all fear-based. We felt like prisoners in our own house because we felt we couldn't have people over and were constantly on edge that he might bite someone. Xavier made recommendations that gave us back our lives. We bought a crate and took Link everywhere in the house (and eventually outside) on leash. Initially I felt guilty because Link was confined for large portions of the day, but now he has more time outside or the crate/xpen and he will even go in on retreat there when he needs a break from the activity in the house. I was taking him on walks regularly, which made him very happy, but he still gets the "excited poops" and I have to stop and pick up after him 3-4 times per walk, which is not conducive to my exercise requirements (due to a health concern). I plan to try him on more relaxed evening walks and hopefully break his fear cycle and get him better socialized in the coming months.

We were beyond thrilled to add him to the family, but had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Shortly after getting home, chaos ensued. We were so disappointed and ready to give him back, which broke our hearts. Shortly after, we called Xavier. Having talked us off a ledge after my second trip through the concrete, we had our first meeting. We learned boundaries and consistency. With time, patience and setting boundaries and staying consistent we put in the work. We knew it wouldn't happen overnight but stayed with it. Now, 2.5 years later, he is a totally different dog. Do we still not love people passing the house? No.. but if I was abused previously I'd probably be weary for the rest of my life too. However, he is an amazing dog and we look back and our more and more happy that we didn't give up. We welcomed our first child last month to our crew. We were always slightly nervous with how he would do, but with staying consistent every step of the way and using the tools Xavier has given us for the rest of our lives, we were able to keep putting in the work. He has been a dream with our little girl, we will always proceed with caution and respect all boundaries, but he has so much love. If you feel like giving up hope on a dog, you don't know where else to turn and you feel as though all hope is lost. Call Xavier and Nicky. They have changed our outlook on dog training as a whole and have helped us more than words can describe.
