I highly recommend this store. I thought my dinosaur of a MacBook was on its way out and was dreading paying for a new computer when I found The Apple Xchange. Matthew helped me out big time with boosting my Ram and giving it a makeover with a new bottom plate and now I can put off that expensive bill of a new computer for a few more years. That's all well and good and would warrant a 4 star, but the 5 star treatment came from Matthew taking the extra time to answer my stupid questions about my iCloud and iPhone at the counter for free. TLDR I needed a single tiny screw for the base plate of a MacBook Air and they were the only place that got it done Long Version... I found this place after a painful (dramatic for effect) runaround trying to call the Chandler Apple store only to be transferred to "Support" twice. First, they wanted me to schedule service with a "Genius" Bar, I just wanted to know if the store had the extra screw on hand I could buy but the person kept pushing me to first schedule a service and ignored my questions. Finally, after getting me a time and asking if there was anything else I needed she told me she could not tell me the price of a screw or if a service fee would be added. Then, I asked if I could ask someone at the store over the phone and she told me to call the store... which is what I tried to do but the AI doesn't let you get through and only transfers you to Apple "Support". So I asked what keywords I could say to get someone on the phone from the store. She "wasn't qualified" to tell me, but when I went in for my appointment all my questions would be answered. Yeah... no... I want to know a price before I waste my time driving to a mall and they can't even tell me if they do in fact have screws there or not. So I called again trying to break the AI by constantly asking for a store associate. Nope! I got transferred to "Support" again. After explaining, this person eventually told me to just call a qualified repair place and I would have better luck. I should have thought of this first to be honest and I'll forgive the first person as they were likely new and reading from a script. But Apple "Support's" answer to my problem basically was... call someone else. I called a couple other places first and while polite, no one else had these extra screws on hand. I understand. But then I called this place. They told me to come on up and I was in and out of the store in 60 seconds, no charge (and I wanted to pay!) This will be the first place I call for now on. I don't know what I would do without this place. They have the most amazing customer service on the planet, incredible product options, and a ton of knowledge. I bought my laptop at Apple Exchange, and have gone there for any other products or services needed since then. I came across a problem recently, and searched over 5 hours online for Mac advice, etc throughout the week. Nothing worked. Apple Xchange employee Alan C. worked diligently to solve this issue. He also used a bit of team work, and I think any other place would have given up by then. Yet, PROBLEM SOLVED! I've had great service here before w/staff that typically have patience and personality, so I brag on this place all the time. I've been a customer since they were located near Cooper and Houston in Gilbert. I've had battery replacements and Mac repairs done at both the Tempe and Gilbert locations. I've always liked the way they deal with customers, and I've been a repeat customer. When my wife's Retina MacBook Pro died, I took it into the Gilbert store for a repair estimate. When they came back with an estimate that was more than the computer was worth, I told them not to proceed. When we went to pick it up, we saw a used computer that was similar. The price was good and included a 1 year warranty. They also didn't charge for the estimate. 2 weeks later my wife noticed an intermittent malfunctioning USB port. I took it in and they had it fixed the next day. I like supporting businesses that fulfill their end of the business/customer relationship. I'll remain a customer of AppleXchange. read more

As usual Apple Exchange staff courteous and friendly and very helpful. John was terrific and saw Charlie helping a good bit of customers with their cell phones screens. I had an unusual issue w/my laptop that was a bit difficult to fix He spent much time kept me updated, and when he thought he was going to have to take in into the shop to fix, he came back to the counter, did a few more things, got it running again. Found something that needed fixed that should have been before and fixed it so it is running faster now. Cleaned up old stuff, malware, etc. Knew it would take some time, about 1 hr, maybe little more, but I left an extremely HAPPY CAMPER! Laptop running like a charm. Great place to take your apple products for repair. They know what they're doing. Best place around. Wish they were closer as we live in Glendale. Will probably still go there when needed even though about 1/2 hr away. read more

Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience here. I had previously messaged the apple xchange on yelp explaining my situation. My ipad's previously replaced screen was lifting and needed to get reseated. They responded back telling me they might be able to reseat it but to bring it in because they will have to take a look and evaluate it first. I bring my iPad in, waited 20 minutes before anyone helped (even though there was only one other customer there but multiple staff members messing around in the back). Finally after waiting twenty minutes, someone from the back room comes out and I explained my situation. Without even looking at my iPad, he tells me there is nothing he can do and proceeded to make a horrible car repair analogy to why he couldn't help me. Disappointing to say the least. He could've at least made an attempt to look at my iPad, seeing how that's what I was instructed to do by their own staff. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere and my iPad was reseated in 30 minutes and works perfect. read more

Brought in my 2015 iMac 5k for a (suspected) random shut down issue. The computer seemingly would power off at various intervals. Could be 45 seconds after start up, could be 3 hours after start up. The screen would go black and would only respond by pulling the power cable, plugging it back in, and rebooting. I was told that if they had to open up the computer to check the hardware, it would be $50. Not bad at all, so I authorized them to do this if needed. After having the computer for a few days and stress testing it, I called them to check on the status and they said were able to reproduce the problem. They found out that the problem was related to the graphics card/gpu being faulty. I was told that the computer was "too new" and that I would have to take it to Apple. I arranged to have my husband pick it up after work and when he asked how much we owed them for looking at it, he was basically told that since they couldn't fix the problem, there would be no charge. So I end up taking the computer to Apple, they ran their diagnostic software on it and it comes back saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with the computer....I had Apple roll back to a previous operating system (due to suspected driver incompatibility issues) and here I am, updating this review on it and it is functioning perfectly. This was also done by Apple at no charge. Long story short, I'm fairly certain that Apple Xchange didn't look at my computer at all. I'm pretty sure they just left it on a desk for 3 days and then gave me a false diagnostic because they felt it would most likely be related to the graphics card. I'm grateful that there was no charge, but why lie? That's the part that really confuses me. It cost them two stars on their review for this experience. read more

Saw an ad on Craigslist for a 11" MacBook Air from mid-2011 asking for $825. I called them and explained that Apple is selling a refurbished 11" MacBook Air from mid-2013 (the newest model as of this writing) for $849; I asked if they would do anything about the price and he said they only negotiate if you go to the store and that I wouldn't save more than $20-30 and that I should go elsewhere. Paying the extra $40-50 to Apple is definitely worth it to get a laptop that is two years newer and comes with a warranty from Apple which lets me take the laptop to any Apple Store. I can't believe The Apple Xchange is charging so much for a two to three-year old laptop! And on top of that, I can't believe that in the face of being shown a much better deal, they won't negotiate a better price for their offerings. UPDATE - In response to Alan C.'s response to my review: It seems like Apple Xchange has good support after you've purchased something from them; they certainly have more than a few reviews stating that here. But Apple Xchange's support after purchasing a product was never a point of issue for me. However, the majority of Alan C.'s response was related to customer service AFTER purchasing from them. So let's address his points. - He mentioned that they offer a warranty for a full year. So does Apple on their refurbished products. Apple has over 400 stores in 16 countries that I can go to; they have six in the Phoenix area alone. As far as I know, Apple Xchange has one store. - He mentioned that you have to make an appointment with Apple. While some might view that as an inconvenience, I see it differently. For example, right now at 10pm, I can check Apple's website and see that they have 19 appointment slots open for tomorrow afternoon and evening at the store 10 minutes away from me. I don't have to wait to make a call during business hours or risk driving 30 minutes to a store and waiting. But let's say Apple Xchange's warranty and customer service is equal to, or better than, Apple's warranty and customer service. Once again, that was never a point of contention for me. We still come back to the price. And is it worth buying a two to three-year old laptop to save $40-50? Unequivocally, the answer has to be no. If Apple Xchange feels that it is fair to price a two to three-year old laptop for only $40-50 less than the newest model in the same or better condition from the manufacturer itself, I am a little stunned. If it was the same model, sure, some discount is better than none. But a two to three-year old laptop for only $40-50 less than the current model?! Come on, one can't say that's a fair price with a straight face. I understand they need to make money. But if a well-informed customer is coming to you with something that shows your product is clearly overpriced, then at least attempt to make a fair deal. read more

Have to give Apple Xchange a good review. We've been coming here for many years since they almost began and their customer service especially with Alan has always been great. Recently my computer was having issues and tried having a friend work on it at their store and they were telling me that I had to buy a whole new laptop! I had a great experience with Apple Xchange. No fuss, great deal (got the $10 for $20 Yelp deal on top of it), impeccable results. So I had spilled coffee on the trackpad of my Macbook Pro about a year ago, and the computer continued to work, albeit more slowly, until one day it just stopped working. I freaked out and thought it was dead. Saw the Yelp reviews and called Apple Xchange. Alan was able to tell me over the phone that my computer likely wasn't suffering from water damage but from hard drive failure. Sure enough, when I brought it in for him to diagnose (for free), he confirmed it was the hard drive and quoted me the same price he had quoted over the phone--$149 before taxes to replace the hard drive and transfer the files over. I had brought the laptop in a couple hours before closing, and he had completed the job and called me to come pick it up by the next day. I spilled a little coffee on my 2017 MacBook Pro, and found Apple Xchange on Yelp with great reviews. I dropped it off and it took a couple days, but they verified that there was no damage on the logic board and nothing got into the case. About a year ago I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. Within an hour and $60 bucks later it was like brand new. From checking other stores pricing, they were the best price (especially take advantage of the $10 for $20 deal on Yelp). Recently my fiance's battery was dying within in minutes and he gave them a call. They fixed the battery within a few minutes and it was only $30 compared to Apple telling him $80 and it would take an hour. Unfortunately they couldn't salvage his water damaged Mac but they spent a lot of time talking through the options he had and what would make the most sense in relation to cost. read more

Took my phone in for a new battery after picking it up the screen went blank the next day and I could no longer hear out of the speaker. I called and asked them what happened and they would not even look at it with out me paying them to do so. Phone worked fine before they replaced battery but after they opened it up all the sudden it breaks the next day. Customer service was the absolute worst EVER. Needed to replace an iPhone5 battery and compared to other repair places in the area, there prices were very fair - $30 plus tax. The batteries+bulbs across the street was ~$50. Walked right in and they did a quick check of the phone to make sure everything was in working order. Last Saturday I went into the Apple Xchange on Southern in Tempe Arizona. My husband has been in ICU for 14 days, I was trying to get an iPad set up for him and was afraid that I might erase everything on my other devices if I tried to do it. A young man named Johnny spent a great deal of time scrubbing my device as well as testing repeatedly to make sure that I wouldn't lose anything from our other computers or phone, he totally blessed my day and enabled my husband to get back in some of his life. We all know that feeling when our phone slips from your hand and we hear that dreadful sound of glass cracking as your phone hits the ground. Yeah, it sucks. Needless to say, I took it here and they did a damn good job on replacing the screen for a reasonable price as well. As much as I liked my "custom" phone, it was nice being able to read articles again without having to read between the lines. These guys are all about customer service and want to make sure they do a damn good job unlike the cardinals this season. Quick and easy. I have used these guys for RAM upgrades in the past for my Mac computers and they were great and affordable. Now I had our iPhone 6 screen replaced. Another update June 2018 Well I did go back about 13 months ago and bought another Mac. After about 11 months the unit started heating up to the point it would stop working.... Even though the system showed very little cpu usage (15%) Took it in and told the problem was Chrome and to stop using chrome (tough when multiple sites I rely on for work are chrome only) but I did delete Chrome... And the problem got worse. I took it back in and they looked at it... Told me there was nothing they could do about it because it is a "hot unit" it just runs hot end of story. Odd since it never did that before and no other Mac I owned ever was a "hot unit" this Mac runs so hot you cannot use it on your lap and the fan runs all day everyday regardless of how many applications are running. I went back and forth with them and they just kept saying "hot unit" nothing we can do. So after buying multiple units here over the years I am no longer a fan. Even though this unit was under warranty they did nothing with it cause it was a "hot unit". Unfortunately after just 11.5 months the "hot unit" is no longer usable so I am forced to buy a new one. Previous update So after my issues - Alan reached out. He and I talked through the problem and although it doesn't seem like there is anything that can be done to get my mac back to what I believe is acceptable performance. My experience with Alan and his honesty has made me a fan. Sometimes you can't please everyone - but it is how you respond to challenging situations that makes an impression. In the end I may not be totally satisfied with the outcome of my mac and its performance but I am totally satisfied with Alan and The Apple XChange. So my update is 5 stars. And next time I need something ... I will be back. read more

If I could go back in time I would NOT have purchased a MacBook from here. I bought a MacBook Air that I was ASSURED was in perfect operating condition. However, within the first 2 weeks of having it, it would routinely crash on me and reboot for no reason. I took it in and they said there was a battery issue, so they replaced it and I would not have any issues moving forward. Well, sure enough, within a couple of months, the 'NEW' battery had issues as well and the computer would crash on me, again. Took it back in and they said there was in fact a battery issue AGAIN. They replaced it and gave me the same assurance this wouldn't happen moving forward. At this point, I really just wanted to return the device, get my money back, wash my hands of this business, and go purchase a brand new, RELIABLE Mac from Apple. They said they only have a 15-day return policy and could not do that for me. I had to keep the computer or exchange it for another one of theirs, which had to be of EQUAL or GREATER money (why would I want to spend more money when I have zero faith in their products??). So, I'm stuck with the MacBook I had and I would not be surprised if I have yet another battery issue in the coming weeks. MAKE THE INVESTMENT IN A BRAND NEW COMPUTER! read more
