The ice maker on my KitchenAid refrigerator stopped working, so I gave Hugo Ortega a call. I was…read moreasked to send photos of the refrigerator model number, the face of the fridge, and of the ice maker itself. The text I received indicated that yes, Mr. Ortega does work on that unit, and a service call was scheduled two days hence. As it turns out, Hugo Ortega did not appear for the service call, but rather his son Tim. It seems that the father, Hugo, tends to work primarily on washer/dryer, and Tim deals with refrigerators and dishwashers. (They are both able to work on any of the appliances, but they have their particular interests, according to Tim). Personable and polite, Tim went through his diagnostics, explaining as he proceeded, and determined that the problem was the ice maker's motor. And.. he has a Kitchenaid ice maker on his truck. But here is where it gets a bit interesting. It seems that the icemakers on this brand can be different: some sit on the side of the freezer, some sit in the center of the freezer...and one is not an exact "bolt In" for the other. He stocked the side fitting unit, and I have the centrally sitting unit. So what Tim did was dismantle his unit, and used the parts to fit on the chassis of my unit. As he nimbly disassembled and reassembled the units, I was reminded of a scene in "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", in which Tuco takes apart several revolvers, and knew which parts would fit the chassis of his new revolver. WOW. DOUBLE WOW! With the unit now working as new...which essentially it was...I realized this young man definitely knows his refrigerators!! But the story gets better. I asked if he works on Jennair Downdraft glass stove tops, as one of my burners was not working. He doesn't really service these units, but he went through an online parts manual, and given the symptoms I described, he told of three possible defects...and he listed the parts numbers and the suggested prices for the parts. I was pretty impressed with his efforts for an appliance he doesn't work on! So can I recommend the Ortegas for appliance repair? Definitely! They are my "go to" repairmen now!! Good Luck Yelpers

The front of the store is set up with great quality products but he didn't have a receptionist so I was patient. He walked me to the back and showed me the perfect one. He delivered it the next day (he is a one man shop-loads and delivers by himself if it is not being picked up.) I called the next day thinking there was a problem with the fridge but it was a user error and although he knew it was simple, he still came at the end of his day to come show me TWICE! (1st time was programing the fridge, 2nd was my error of plugging in the microwave and fridge in the same outlet. ‍‍ I can't imagine how tough it might be for him to have to deliver to people when they don't live close. Without staff to help, he basically is leaving his business and potentially losing customers. I am very close so it was easier, but early morning or end of day is about the only time he has to be able to deliver or service what people buy if there is an issue. Works great now. 5 stars to the Refrigerator crew!! after such positive success with the fridge, we called Premier for their dishwasher team. we were able to order and replace the needed parts ourselves with LGs great website and video assistance. however, one problem remained that continues to elude repair. I guess the dishwasher guy took offense because of our initiative to do the majority of the repair. He tried quoting a repair and parts fee sight unseen that was not at all what was needed. Then hewas belligerent about coming out to do a diagnostic, quoting the fee for that. We were asking for that help, so we're already to pay for it! This the consult. When he finally comes, he doesn't do a diagnostic with the computer system at all. He runs it a few minutes, makes a few guesses, then leaves. Charged us for his "expertise." Problem not solved. 0 stars for the dishwasher guys.

He showed up on time and is a very personable guy. Jack quickly diagnosed the problem with the dishwasher (was not draining after a cleaning cycle) as caused by improper installation of a garbage disposal by my tenants. The problem was fixed without the need of any additional parts; just needed to correct the garbage disposal issue. Then I asked Jack to take a look at my oven door as it was not closing/seating all the way shut. After removing the door there was the possibility the oven door needed new hinges. After reinstalling the door, the problem was fixed as the issue seemingly was simply misaligned hinges. I found Jack to be refreshingly knowledgeable and professional. And his fees are more than reasonable for the services rendered. These days it is a challenge to find competent, professional and honest contractors. But EcoFix is all of the good traits that customers are looking for when searching for contractors. I cannot recommend EcoFix more highly.
