I still love this bar! It's absolutely the best dive bar in Austin. The drinks are awesome and the prices can't be beat. It's wonderfully dark inside. And trust me, if you grab a booth, you'll have a great private conversation because of the tall walls. I hate recommending it because I don't want it to become overrun, but it's a great place! So yes check it out!

Unhappy bartender who told us that we were childish for taking selfies in line. And is she fat?? Yes!! Ambiance is heinous. No food. She sent me a picture of her SALAD!!!!!

The Aristocrat Lounge is a no-frills dive bar on Burnet. Inside you'll find pool tables, the occasional live band, and a small outdoor patio in the back. The vibe is super casual, and the drinks are cheap and strong. Weirdly, kids are allowed here, which kind of throws off the atmosphere. Service is mediocre, but what more can you expect? It's a dive bar...

    That's a vibe.

I haven't been here in DECADES! I feel like it is more spacious inside than when it was the Poodle Dog Lounge. There is a good size bar, some booths, three pool tables, and one (yes literally) one toilet. I find that odd, and inconvenient if you just need to...well, ya know. Anyway, the service was slightly surly as one would expect at a dive bar. It was quiet enough to have a conversation, so that was appreciated. Prices were on par with higher end bars- also odd- but still an enjoyable atmosphere.

A perfectly 3 star dive bar. Do you really want a 5 star dive bar? Noooo. We sat outside on some benches and I enjoyed some hop water. My friend got some noodles to go from the pop up restaurant. Bartenders were friendly.

I'm freaking late getting onto the Aristocrat Lounge train but damn, super impressed. Not just an über cool dive but their list of frozen cocktails on tap and cocktails on tap is super impressive. How impressive? Let me tell you - went car window shopping one early afternoon at Roger Beasley Mazda Central and stopped by here after. Mind you, when we got here it was 1:30. Six hours, two rescheduled and eventually cancelled dinner reservations later, were were still here. Why? Their freaking frozen carajillos that's why. We've had carajillos before, hot and iced, but never frozen. These frozen ones sucked us right in and it was hard not to keep ordering them. They were like a godddam milkshake I tell you. Go check them out for that reason alone. Stupendous idea of theirs. While you're there, might as well try their other drinks on tap: palomas and old fashioneds.

This bar is what you'd expect in Austin, with its eclectic decor, jukebox music and pool tables to pass the time. The bartenders at first I thought were weary of new faces but quickly warmed up as we were served. We went at low key time for a quick drink. No food is served but there is a food truck onsite.

The perfect dive bar. Awesome bartenders, decent pool sticks, good drinks, affordable prices. Only thing is I wish the bathroom smelled better haha. But this would be a staple if I lived here.

Bearded Bartender can S it from the back!

I'm on business to the area and a buddy took me to this dive bar. First night was amazing tattoo glasses chickadee was on point, friendly and very on top of helping and being very attentive. Night two we were greeted by this bearded over weight god complex man. After ordering my first drink and requesting a second he judged me saying and I quote "Red Flag!" I'm sorry... I'm double the age of every patron in the bar, first drink of the evening and I'm being profiled and judged!? His attitude was rank, personality was garbage, unless you were a regular he doesn't give a F! Take this into consideration and make changes. I'll never visit this establishment again. This is not how you treat people when this is how you make tips. Absolute disgrace to the bar and bad vibes. Don't spend your money with douchey projecting arrogant POS!

Never drink alone....unless they aren't free to drink. lol

The Aristocrat, IMHO, has done a good job of keeping the feel of the original bar while making some much needed improvements.

Getting to Buddy's is easy as they have a designated parking area out back. Once parked you're greeted by their patio area where there is a door for entry into the main bar. They are dog friendly, a very big plus considering most don't allow dogs at all. The bar itself is a bit divey with a domino and pool tables setup in the main area. The patrons are all very welcoming as are the workers, it definitely gives you a warm feeling to be there. We ordered 3 mixed drinks, which were all solid and the total came out to $18. Can't beat that price up north. One of the biggest highlights was the live music in the back. They have live music consistently throughout the week so you can always catch a performance. It is very easy to pass time in this bar between the music, games, and just good company overall. We didn't have a neighborhood bar yet but this place might just be the answer to that (a lot of that has to do with how comfortable the patrons and workers make you feel).

It wasn't what he said, it was how he said it with a condescending attitude and tone. I was apparently a menace or "youngin" being rude. I removed my purse from the stool and put it on the way too tiny hook for anyone's bag and then LITERALLY NO ONE sat there the next 40 minutes until we left. Murder mystery events are pretty common in Washington State, and we have attended several over the years. We have also hosted a Star Trek murder mystery dinner at our home. In case you are wondering, the hubs is the Trekkie. Since this was an all-girls event, I was flying solo. My first challenge was deciding what to wear. One thing was transparently clear...I was not about to spend money on an outfit destined to spend the rest of its life collecting dust in the back of my closet. After some extensive "research" (mainly googling 1950s fashion and perusing my closet), I pieced together a respectable 1950s outfit. It consisted of a pencil skirt with a little swing, a short-sleeved cardigan, and a sequined top to fit the prom-night theme. I completed the look with ankle socks, flat shoes, neck scarf, and a period-inspired hair clip. It would not have won an award for best dressed, however, I blended right in. Upon entering The Power Room, we were instructed to surrender our cell phones. Wait...what? My phone is essentially my third arm, personal assistant, camera, GPS, calculator and all things essential. Are you serious?! I exhaled as I handed over my phone. You received a wristband with your locker key attached. While I may not always agree with the rules, I am a dedicated rules follower. I reluctantly complied and tried to survive the acute separation anxiety. In addition, the event required a two-drink minimum, and the food options were fairly limited. Our server did an outstanding job keeping everyone's orders straight. Considering our group size and enthusiasm level, that alone deserved an award. Drinks and food were good. The murder mystery itself differed from others I have attended. Typically, the suspects are played by seasoned performers who can think on their feet and fully commit to their roles. In this version, audience members were selected to play the suspects. While this created some hilarious and unpredictable moments, it also led to occasional responses like, "I don't know," or, "Give me a minute to think about that," which is suboptimal when trying to solve a murder. Even still, the audience participation added a unique charm and plenty of laughs. At the end of the evening, awards were handed out for Best Suspect, Best Death Scene, and the team that successfully solved the murder mystery. I am proud to report that one of our friends won Best Death Scene, proving that if you're going to be murdered, you should at least go out with flair. Now for our team... Let's just say the killer will not be losing any sleep over our investigative abilities as we did not solve the murder. Importantly, the evening was tremendously fun. Between the costumes, the laughter, the over-the-top performances, and the challenge of solving the crime, it made for a memorable night out.

But it was more important to the Powder Room that the next group got their table on time, apparently. They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.
