This place is alright in my opinion. It should be noted that I didn't order any food and that I just went for drinks. My friends got food and it seemed to be average-nothing special about it, which is normal for bar/tavern food. The drinks are also alright, nothing too special about them. There was a mocktail section though, which I really respect places for having and offering on the menu itself. Service felt-awkward? At times felt like being a burden by not ordering more food or drinks, but maybe I'm overthinking it. Favorite part would have to be the ambiance of the place as I'm a sucker for some good/dim/dark mood lighting. Don't think I would go here again, but if someone wanted to go, I wouldn't mind. read more

Stopped in for a quick shot after being jolted after seeing my mortal enemy. Although we were one of the first people in the bar, the bartender was super sweet, sympathetic and welcoming for our small party. We came, saw and conquered those shots of tequila and I'd easily stop in again when in Old Town Arvada! The food here was pretty good. * Rocky Mountain Oysters: When in Denver,, why not. These guys are pretty good. I'd order these again. * Devilled Eggs: Who doesn't like these?? Cause these guys are awesome. * Pierogi: Nice and crunchy with potato filling. Perfect for cutting the taste of strong liqour. The setting is really nice. Rustic chic style that I love so much. A neighborhood staple for us in Arvada! Their food is consistently good, reasonably priced, and every time we go we leave with a new favorite cocktail! They have a tiki bar "speakeasy" upstairs with more drinks but their classic cocktails at the restaurant are all amazing. I also love their mocktails on the menu. Pierogis are great, and so is their Mac and cheese. We have also had their friend chicken sandwich, and it's so good every time. One of the best places in old town Arvada. read more

I will never, ever come back. It was by far my worst experience on my first trip to Colorado. The Rocky Mountain Oysters were pitifully tiny. So tiny that I have never seen smaller freshwater oysters. These oysters were the size of fried pickles and there were only eight per order. The Arvada Tavern is engaging in highly deceptive business practices by not warning consumers their oysters are far smaller than other establishments, yet charging $13 per order, the same as a half order at another restaurant I visited, and the Arvada Tavern's full order is one-third the size of the other location's half order. If the Arvada Tavern will not reduce the prize for its tiny oysters, nor serve larger oysters, they should be banned from serving the item, period. I got ripped off and ripped off good. I will never forgive the Arvada Tavern for that. Embarrassing. read more

Still great during COVID-19. The Arvada Tavern quickly adapted and started offering delicious cocktails to go! Then added food to their menu. The giant pretzel with cheese sauce was delicious as was the conch of dagda tiki Tuesday cocktail and the Nobody Speak cocktail, a bourbon forward cocktail. Cocktails even come with the appropriate ice (large cube for Nobody Speak, crushed pebble ice for tiki Tuesday cocktail). I like that they have unique hard to find ingredients in their cocktails. Please first understand why I am putting a low review. I had bought a vegi burger for $26 and it came with fries. This burger was way overpriced but I was very hungry and wanted to celebrate with friends. Then I got the burger and was so sadly disappointed I should have returned it to get my money back. It tasted like if Burger King tried to make a vegi burger and then they copied McDonald's fries. I don't trust their food, but their drinks were phenomenal. This review is mainly for the drinks only since I haven't really eaten here. I usually only come here at night with my bf to grab drinks. It's one of our favorite date spots. Nothing really special about the inside. It's mostly dark and each table has a candle. It's not too loud inside so you can actually hear you conversations. My go to drink is their LAVENDER GREYHOUND. It's a bit sweet and easy to drink. The drink itself doesn't have a super strong lavender taste. It's mostly citrus-y. I think most of the lavender flavor is in their sugar lavender rim around the cup. If you're a fan of Old Fashions, their true Old fashion is really good and simple (according to my bf). Their signature OLDE TOWN FASHIONED on their menu is on the sweeter side with the cherry and orange. It's still good, but just depends what you prefer. read more

Celebrated Christmas here with a gf I haven't seen for awhile. Our dinner was absolutely delicious. I got a lot of pictures except for dinner because we both were so hungry. lol. We started off at the bar, while waiting for our table, and enjoyed a drink and chatted away. Finally got our table and started off with an appetizer, artichoke dip. The wait did not take long for all of food. The artichoke dip was delicious and we pretty much cleaned it out. My gf wanted a hamburger so we ended up splitting a hamburger and fries. It was cooked perfectly as well as perfectly satisfying. Not too full and we were able to share the delicious vanilla lava cake. Our dinner couldn't have tasted anymore fabulous. We were definitely hungry, but food was also cooked deliciously. Second time here and food did not disappoint. This place makes for a romantic date with their low lightings. The atmosphere and mood of this tavern are classic and absolutely fantastic! The cocktails are also really good. The servers are knowledgeable and courteous. However, there was one issue for me. I'm not sure if the toilet ventilation was malfunctioning, but there was a noticeable smell coming from the toilets towards the back of the tavern. Please have the ventilation be checked! read more

This place is our top 5 for burgers. The staff were super friendly and were practicing good COVID precautions. Great little seating area outside, really pretty at night with string lights around. I am a little unsure why this place is so popular. We speculated that it is because of the drinks and since we did not order any, perhaps we missed out on the highlights of the Arvada Tavern. We came primarily because we were tourists in search of rocky mountain oysters. However, looking at the menu, the rocky mountain oysters were the only thing that looked appealing. They had a decent sized list of apps but only three entrees. We were all a little hesitant to order because of those three options, nothing sounded too good. We settled on ordering a bunch of appetizers instead. Our waitress proclaimed that they had the best rocky mountain oysters in town, and we all looked at each other with the same thought: "she better be right because this place really does not have much else." The oysters were good, though extremely salty. We reasoned that the over seasoning must hide some less appealing flavor, hence making these the best in town. But all else aside, it was enjoyable and came with a selection of three different sauces (cocktail, cheese, and mustard), all of which were good. We also ordered the pretzel, brussels sprouts, and wings. The pretzel was more like a loaf of bread and while it was good, it should not be classified as a pretzel. The cheesy sauce it was served with was very yummy. The brussels sprouts were solid: well cooked and about what was expected. The wings were unfortunately highly disappointing. They were probably one of the worst I have had. The flavor was severely lacking and it could have been cooked better. I would suggest staying away from this item. This was a great place to try rocky mountain oysters and in that regard we were satisfied with our experience. Unfortunately, due to the lack of entrees and mediocre apps, we had to stop of McDonald's on the way home to finish off our dinner. If I ever came back here it would probably be to check out their cocktail scene and nothing else. read more
