While we enjoyed the ambiance and the quick service, we couldn't help but feel rushed in and out. Our server didn't smile and appeared annoyed at our questions of the menu. This was our first time visiting Fredericksburg and we came to this restaurant due to it being dog friendly! We sat outside on the patio with our pup. They were quite busy with it being a nice day in October. I got a frozen peach Bellini and it was very good, not overly sweet. For an appetizer, we ordered fried mushrooms and they were delicious! We went on a Sunday evening for dinner , the place was packed, however we were fortunate and we got seated quick. It was a hot day, they had fans but still pretty hot (we didn't mind though). The service was outstanding, our server was quick and very reliable in terms of picking items for my son who had plenty of allergies. It's a very casual atmosphere, with some noise , but we are still able to talk. The food did not disappoint. My hubby and son said the sausage was great ( the best have had by far), it had the right amount of spices and not too spicy . We were not able to order dessert though cuz of the allergies ( so I would give it 4.5 stars). We most definitely will come again next time we visit Fredericksburg. read more

Went here for early Sunday dinner. It was not busy at all. Hostess sat us quickly and we had good service. For the appetizer we had the fried mushrooms. These were really good. I'd order these again. I'm vegetarian so was able to try their vegetarian sausage with saurkraut sides. Was expecting more flavor in the sausage and it was dry. That's OK, I can say I tried it and was not for me. I'm not a huge fan of German food but came with an open mind. My sister in law is from Stuttgart and made some good recommendations. I got the pork chops. I swear it was chicken and not pork. I got it with mashed potatoes and those were nice. My brother got the pot roast. That was really nice. The others got sausage and they same with sauerkraut and German potato salad. The potato salad was tangy and wet. Not what I was expecting at all. Also came with pickled cabbage. They tasted like pickled beets. One thing is for sure, everything is sour. Every side and main course is sour. Overall the food was just ok to me. I wouldn't go out of my way for anything but I would eat there again if in the area. Friendly service and parking is scarce. First, we sat at the bar for a cold beer after walking the main streets and checking out the various shops. The bartender was friendly and found a way to keep a lot of people happy! We came back later that evening for dinner and ate in the indoor dinning room. We started with the German Snack which is essentially a beef/pork sausage with sauerkraut, cheese and bread. It is something great to share. My husband wanted more so he went with the Kasewurst for his main dish and found it to be just as good. I enjoyed the Jagerschnitzel which was a good sized portion. I found myself enjoying their warm potato salad as it had a great tangy flavor. The sauerkraut with all of our dishes were flavorful. We were a party of 4 and 1 was actually born in Germany and a GREAT COOK, we all ordered something different, and nothing was worth the price. The Rolladen was a rolled up dry piece of beef and came with a strange looking topping of the Sour Cream/Brown Gravy it's normally swimming in. The pile looked like Chocolate ice cream with Vanilla Ice cream swirled on top. Next to arrive was a Mushroom and Gravy Schnitzel that came extra crispy like a slice of New York style pizza. I had what was supposed to be a Paprika Schnitzel and it was covered in pickled peppers without the customary Paprika Sauce topping. Last but not least was the single Bratwurst that looked like something else and was accompanied by a small bowls of Potato Salad and Sauerkraut. All 4 of us told the waitress the food was terrible and she offered her apologies and brought us the check. Last I dined there was with my girlfriends and we ordered shareable beer battered mushrooms served with their homemade ranch and I have to say it didn't disappoint. I would recommend the old world potato soup, schmorbraten. Schmorbraten is a comfort food. It's sliced pot roast on a bed of mashed potatoes with delicious gravy adding more flavor into the mix. The meat is so tender and the mashed with gravy is so comforting to the tummy. My girlfriends got the flame grilled chicken with buttered corn. If you love sandwiches, I would highly recommend their Reuben and save some room for dessert. We shared the apple strudel and peach Bavarian. I would recommend coming in as soon as they open coz it packs quick especially during the weekends. The wait can be an hour or more on busy days. read more

Loved the service and menu. The service was fast and friendly. We tried all of the sausage types there. I can say that the red cabbage was to die for. Sauerkraut was great and we took it home. Not all youngsters have a taste for it. The beer, well, it buried my worries and was what we needed. When we got home, a couple of tummies were burning. We can attribute that to one thing that sticks to our minds. We should have said something because when the main course came out before we could dig into the appetizer, the bratwurst was not steaming hot. Next time you go, check up on that and insist that it is freshly cooked. Because of that, I know that I cannot take my parents there, so instead we will choose another adventure next time. I was greeted as soon as I entered. I had my choice of where I wanted to sit. It was open air last night, and I loved it. It is a unique dining area with gravel under the tables and chairs. I am used to seeing these options in a large city but I was very surprised to see one here since Fredericksburg isn't a major city. I didn't realize it included two sausages, so after all of that, I had trouble finishing my stein of beer. I left very full! I would say the fried pickles are amazing, the draft beer is served room temp, there is no pretzel on the menu, and the German snack is pretty loaded. The the end, the price isn't too bad for what you would expect it to be and is comparable to your neighborhood places for those two items at least. The indoor dining area was cool and gave us a very big break from the summer heat, especially with iced lemonade.
