The ambience was tasteful and approachable like if somebody's grandmother ran a delightful restaurant that you'd actually want to visit. The service was trying their best Seemed pretty understaffed, but everything was fast and they were quite courteous. We had the focaccia which was stupendous, came with some wonderful dipping options after a glass of local red and a sparkling water we were served our main course, the wild boar Ragu what can I say about this? The homemade noodles were a true delight sauce was perfect and light in the bore... Oh, the bore. The tender amazing bore took me to flavor heaven I couldn't get enough. And of course, we saved a slice of focaccia to wipe everything up at the end. If you come across a bad review, you will probably see that it is a somewhat uneducated tasteless patron that's probably just twisted up about it being " too expensive " or that the " service was slow " so dear reader rest assured this is not your friendly neighborhood chilies this is something much much better. read more

We were sat next to the window with the sun shining directly in our faces. The did close the curtains fryer I moved my chair to the side of the two top which was nice. We ordered the Insalata Alla Campana which had zero flavor. We asked if the could split and we were told the kitchen doesn't split plates. I would not recommend! We then ordered the roasted garlic and ricotta cheese meatballs and the Tuscan bean soup. If you go order two bowls of the Tuscan bean soup because it is amazing!1 I forgot our drinks. Hubs ordered the Fortunate Verde which was $17 dollars and very much over priced and a glass of the Rose which was mediocre at best. Our total bill was $80 before tip for appetizers and two drinks. My gf and I went here tonight for a nice dinner. We're from out of town and first time At Fredericksburg and this restaurant got a lot of recommendations. However this is one of the worse experiences we had in forever! Where do I begin? The hostess was super rude to us and we just figured she had a bad day. Pepperoni, sausage and I added mushrooms and asked for no cheese being lactose intolerant The food was good. Pizza was delicious and crust tasted homemade. We also got meatball appetizers and that was good too. We ate kinda early at 5:30pm so we wanted to take the leftovers back to out Air BNB to have for later. I had 3 slices of pizza left and my gf had half her linguine left. We literally told the waitress we wanted both packaged up to go However when I came back from the restroom only the box for the pizza was available. I asked the waitress is her linguine inside the box and she gave a stupid remark "oh I didn't know you wanted the pasta to go." Then to make matters worse she said "I also accidentally dropped a slice of a pizza on the floor so there's only two in the box". Wtf! Seriously!!! When the waitress realized I was getting pretty upset, she stated "well I didn't think you wanted me to take that slice off the floor and putting it in a box" and begin laughing Out bill was a lot and the manager or no one came by to apologize for the mistake, did not offer us anything, or even taking something off our bill. My gf and I were looking forward to eating our food later on tonight, but now we're left with two lousy slices of pizza The food itself was very good, our meatball appetizer was delicious, she stated her linguine pasta was good, and my pizza was actually very good, the food definitely was overpriced, but atmosphere was decent. I will never come back here again if anybody ever ask about Fredericksburg or recommendations for restaurants, I would never recommend this place to anybody they need to get better training for their employees because this was total BS. Great Italian dinner after a day of wine drinking! We didn't have a reservation, but were able to put our name in and wait about 20 minutes for a big group on a Saturday night. We lucked out! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and seemed to really care. She recommended the Tuna appetizer which is like a sashimi dish. I got the Gnocchi which was to have sausage.. the sauce was good but I think I located maybe a gram of sausage total in the dish. The gnocchi was good and handmade. Just seemed kinda lazily put together and was a very small portion. The dessert was one of a few dishes but they all came with a side of nonsense. I got the least nonsensical dessert which is delicious gelato with fresh blueberries and some balsamic vinegar on top for some ungodly reason. I would have gotten cannolis but I was scared they'd come out with ketchup on them. Idk what the chef is trying to do, but quit it. Just make the pasta, put the meat in the sauce, give the ladies some ice cream and don't be light handed. The service was 5 stars, food was all over the place but has potential, the atmosphere was meh. You'd have more consistency and spend way less for bigger portions and heartier meals going to Olive Garden. Shout out to the focaccia bread. It was good and fresh. This is undoubtedly the best Italian cuisine in Fredericksburg. The kitchen is large and immaculately maintained. I could see myself eating here numerous times during my next visit. Jenny is an incredible server. She's a keen listener, pays attention to details and has a wonderful personality. I would strongly consider making a reservation as this restaurant can often get quite busy. Just better to have that peace of mind so you're not disappointed at the door. The gelato and shrimp scampi were our favorites but it's worth mentioning the pizza looks incredible as well. We were looking forward to our meal as it was our first time in the area and I did my yelp research! Unfortunately, it may have been an off night for them. While we were seated promptly, that was really the only thing that was timely the rest of the night. Odd lapses in service, it appeared our server may have had too many tables. The dining room is beautiful with nice lighting and stone walls and we were at a corner table where noise was manageable. Food wise, our Caesar salad was a little lemony, and the garlic croutons were really just garlic breadcrumbs. The house salad was also enjoyable. Then we had a long wait for entrees, with no explanation or check in by our server. When they arrived, first impression was portions are smallish given the price. Wild boar ragu and shrimp linguini were tasty. The spaghetti vongole had only about 6-7 clams total and the sauce was more Alfredo than a garlic/olive oil lighter sauce. The biggest disappointment was my lamb sugo, one of the specials that night. As I love lamb and my husband doesn't, I always order when I see an interesting option on a menu. When it arrived, the rigatoni was cooked al dente, but the dish was primarily peas and mushrooms (neither described on the menu) and I had to search to find very small pieces of lamb. Definitely not as described. We passed on dessert as we feared it would be another long wait. Hopefully our experience was an anomaly, as the place is super cute and they seemed to be popular and busy. read more

How did I forget to review this place? Alla Campagna has the best Italian food this side of Italy and even then I could argue. It's just as good. We have been there multiple times andlove it! Came here with some friends after a day of exploring wine country and I have to say this place was alright! The place is very cute and inviting. It is right off the Main Street where all the fun is happening in Fredericksburg. The beer was cold, and the Funghi pizza was fantastic! We had the option to add truffle to the pizza and I'm so glad we did! We also tried the Bistecco di Filetto and I have to say for the price, it wasn't anything too special. The cook I asked for on my steak was not how I wanted it and the steak wasn't seasoned very well. The beef au jus and potatoes were great, but the beef was okay. Ambience is very cozy and upscale. Hostess accommodated us quickly even though we accidentally booked for the wrong day. You definitely need a reservation though. Food was solid. I had a filet and it was good but not great. I think the quality of meat wasn't as high as I expected. My girlfriend had the Wild boar pasta. It didn't really have much flavor and needed a lot more seasoning. It was kind of like pulled pork. Dessert was three scoops of gelato. It was very good. We tried a new restaurant for us in Fredericksburg on our last visit which I definitely would recommend. Don't let the 4 stars scare you away because it was still a wonderful dinner spot. We went on a Thursday night which made everything easier to get in without a reservation. There appeared to be some confusion from the stand staff as to whether or not there was going to be unavailable table. It took a while for someone to notice us at the stand, and the first person wasn't as receptive about getting a seated. A new person came and quickly found us a spot. The decor of the restaurant is captivating with different pieces of art and textures. There is an outdoor seating area in the back that does have heating lamps, but not as cozy as inside seating. There also is a really cool room. You can reserve that I will include a photo of.Our waiter seemed very informed about the restaurant and a great job, offering his favorites during all courses. Since it was a girls weekend, we opted for just appetizer and dinner. We shared the roasted heirloom, cherry tomato Burrata with focaccia. This was the highlight of the dinner. The bread was unbelievably good in flavor and texture. Between us we ordered main courses Lasagna Alla Campagna (tasty but average-a little over seasoned), Chicken Funghi Risotto ( very good especially the risotto). Wild Boar Ragu (unique and yummy per my friend) and our fourth friend had dietary restrictions which limited her selection to an off menu gluten free pasta resulting in her dish taking a little longer to come out. We had house wine with dinner so didn't get a chance to try any of the signature cocktails but included pic of drink menu. Give it a try especially the focaccia! read more

So I'll start with the not so good part of the review because it's the part I hate giving. The Buccatini al Pesto on paper sounds great, but had an off taste and the chicken tasted like they just boiled it and threw it on the plate without seasoning. The lasagna had a great sauce but without it, it was unfortunately pretty bland as well. On to the positives. The meatballs were incredibly good and the special bread they make was also fantastic, especially with the sauce from the meatballs. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a very nice homey feel. Such a great spot for Italian food!! Super cute and aesthetic. We were originally seated inside, but we wanted to sit outside. Our server was very accommodating to our request and led us right out to their patio. They provided two fly fans for the table, which kept the flies away from the food up until we got the main entrees. I wasn't expecting there to be so many flies, but I wasn't going to let that ruin my experience here. For starters, we got the focaccia and carpaccio. The focaccia blew me away. It wasn't like the ordinary focaccia I've had before- the texture reminded me of sourdough bread. The outside was crispy and firm, and the inside was buttery, soft, and warm. The salt sprinkled on top complemented the sweet tomatoes well. Dipped the bread into the olive oil with each bite, and it was absolute perfection. The carpaccio had such a great combination of flavors, from the saltiness of the capers to the refreshing arugula and citrus taste of the lemon. The thinly sliced beef had the consistency of smoked salmon, just without the fishiness. Diving into the pasta, my friends and I ordered the following: pappardelle, linguine Nero, capunti, & funghi ravioli. Out of all the pasta we ate, the pappardelle was a fan favorite. Bold and creamy. Long, wide noodles. What more could you ask for? The funghi ravioli was good, except it was very juicy and watery from the mushrooms... and because of this, I felt like the flavor was washed out and subtle. The capunti was okay. Portion was a lot smaller than expected. Pasta was thick and chewy. Flavors weren't giving. For dessert we shared a tiramisu. Reminded me of the tiramisu from Whole Foods, which is one of the best. The tiramisu was very light, fluffy, and airy. Espresso isn't overpowering, and the mascarpone is delightful. Service was phenomenal. Our waiter was extremely kind and helpful. He took really good care of us! We parked in front of one of the businesses nearby. We came at a later time in the evening so parking wasn't an issue at all. read more

I came to this restaurant after seeing a video that recommended it for the food and vibe. The food was delicious. My mom and I shared a couple of items and it was perfect for us two. Never had it phrased like that when a table isn't immediately available. And when offered the bar it was like we offended her that we still wanted to eat there.
