This place is amazing food on every level. My only regret is that seating can be limited but it's due to the open feel inside. We are lucky and scored a table on a almost deserted Wednesday night, thank you mr snow squal. We order as appetizers the salmon risotto balls crisp and the chili aioli had a pleasant zing to it. Garlic knots and fried mozzarella. Dinner was fettuccini Alfredo which was amazing, a eggplant stuffed bread which was to die for and a small vodka penne pizza. Ordered 3 small pizzas. The Adriatic pizza had spinach on it that made the pizza really watery and drowned out the feta. The avenue pizza had way too much garlic and onions and they were both too raw and overpowering. The meat lovers was good but again a lot of large under cooked onions. Would like to see how the sandwiches are. read more

First time at this restaurant. We tried the calamari which was right out of the freezer pack, not good. Chicken soup was good along with the hot bread. Swiss burger was ordered pink inside, but was served overcooked and came with fries, again right out of the freezer pack. Server was excellent. Would we come back, NO ! read more

As far as service things were fine waitress was very kind and quick service. The grinders.... amazing. Hot fresh and although other places are cutting down on the meats or veggies or sauces this place did not. Everything was as good as it was prior to covid. read more

It was good. Not quite must-return, but certainly will-return territory. After all, we're Berliners. It was pleasant to sit outside on a nice night and order some good ol' Italian food. The salads were made fresh and pretty good, we had some WILD cocktails (black salt on the rim? yikes!). BUT... The menu is a little plain. Hey, look, I like a good Veal Parmigiana, and I was served a very good Veal Parmigiana. Wife had a really good dish too. Those cocktails were awesome. But if you're new on the restaurant scene, you want some dishes that make you go "ooh, never seen that before!" The Avenue does classic Italian, pizza, and pub dishes... and little else. So expect a good time, for sure. But this place has incredible untapped potential. read more

We visited The Avenue on a Thursday evening for a birthday party. About 30 people including kids. The staff did an excellent job getting everyone seated, drinks ordered, entrees ordered, and accommodated our celebration by allowing us to bring in a birthday cake. We hade three servers for our party. They were patient, attentive and efficient. The majority of our party ordered the fish special. It was excellent...no complaints from anyone....the kids gravitated toward pizza, which was also eagerly consumed. I selected The Avenue based on a previous visit. The specialty pizza menu is interesting and delicious. A big thank you to the staff and owners for accommodating such a large party. read more

Did a takeout large pizza. I was craving that wood fired new haven style pizza and wasn't disappointed. It was Saturday and the parking lot (behind the building) was packed which I thought was a good sign. Picking up our pizza took a bit of time (and we were standing in the way), but the pizza came out hot. The pizza was good (not as good as Ken and Barbs, but it was also about 3/4 of the price). It may be the best pizza in the Berlin area (at least as far as I've been able to find). read more

rather disappointing...only ordered a cup of soup and an order of fried calamari. (to go) the soup (pasta fagiole) was bland and pretty much consisted of just beans and ditalini pasta. First time here with my friend who is a regular and got the chicken cutlet grinder (lettuce, tomato, onion, Mayo) Truly the best grinder I have had in my life lol. The homemade grinder roll was AMAZING I will likely be thinking about how good it was for the next week lol. And it was only $8! Definitely will be back! read more

I'm a fan of The Avenue! I enjoyed a late night dinner here with a friend of mine and we liked it a lot. It was a Saturday when we went, so it was little busy, but there was one more table for us in the dining area. We were confused by the parking lot in the back (my friend's truck almost didn't fit between the buildings), but we figured it out. We ordered a burger and a wrap, they came out quickly and were delicious! The portions were big, too, which was nice. I look forward to returning to The Avenue again when we're both in the area after watching a movie at the nearby theater! read more

We love The Avenue. My girlfriend and I live close by and this has become one of our favorite restaurants in the matter of just a few weeks. Friendly staff, GREAT FOOD (pizza is a 10/10 - the best pizza I've found in CT and you won't disagree) and the atmosphere is one that can't be beat (couples, families, friends mostly). We've also tried the following: Pizza (we've had cheese, sausage, and meatball so far) - all 5 stars Pasta Fagioli - 5 stars French Onion Soup - 3 stars (I like mine a little more on the salty side, though, this one was more bland) Mozzarella En Carozza - 4.5 stars Hot Buffalo Wings - 4 stars (could have used more sauce, also a personal preference) Ave-Tini - 5 stars (highly recommend) Beer Selection - 3.5 stars Keep doing what you're doing, because we love ya! I've been to this spot a few times over the years. Mainly for drinks and to see bands and enjoy a slice or two of pizza. Recently we ordered take out for lunch. The portions are humongous!! My husband got the buffalo chicken wrap and I got the chicken Caesar wrap. I also got the French onion soup in place of the fries. The soup was so big I could only finish half but it was delicious! The wrap on the other hand was just ok. There was way too much stuffed inside.. but I know some folks actually like that. I personally had to take some of it out of the wrap. It was also soaked in dressing which again some people like but I'm not that much of a fan of dressing. My husband loved his wrap though and didn't mind how they stuffed it at all. The fries they gave him were a generous portion also. I would come back for lunch and stick with soup. Then when they reopen fully I'll come back for dinner and maybe up the stars!! read more

Buffalo chicken tenders tasted like the ones you buy in the frozen isle of your grocery store, salad was so so, ok but not great and the pizza did have lots of fresh veggies on it but the crust looked and tasted like it was a pre made and not fresh dough, more like a saltine cracker. not sure if I'd go back again cute place though. read more

Went to The Ave tonight and was seated immediately which was great. However after waiting for nearly twenty minutes, no one approached our table. Finally the waitress addressing the table next to us asked if we were helped. After telling her no, she sent our waitress over. Our waitress attempted to apologize but she walked past us several times earlier serving everyone around us. I asked if our table was hers and she said yes. There is no way she did not see us so her apology held no weight. She took our order and never provided us with water or bread. Finally my 5 yr old son requested bread and she stated "oh you want more bread." No you failed to give us any. Very disappointed with my experience and regret having gone there tonight. Amazing transformation. I've driven by this place for years and never even considered stopping. They have recently remodeled and made the place look inviting. We've heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try. The New York style pizza was delicious. Ample and convenient off street parking. The vegetarian pizza is very good here. There is a good variety of vegetables and they are generously distributed all the way out to the edge of the crust. Both times that I had this, the crust was perfect. The dining room is well separated from the bar area, and is comfortable. We have been here for a couple of dinners which were also good experiences. Very cute and enjoyable spot! Stopped in here for lunch today and had a lovely meal. This place has a really nice atmosphere and vibe to it. The lunch menu is pretty extensive. Tons of options from grinders and wraps and burgers to pizza and Italian dishes. Prices are extremely reasonable, too. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and a chicken parm grinder. The person i was with ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. Soup was very good, tasted home made. The grinders were advertised as being 12", but to me, it looked smaller than that, but, whatever. Regardless, it was delicious! The fries were really delicious and crispy as well. For dessert we shared a piece of cheesecake which was also really awesome and tasted homemade. Service was really great. Our waitress was super sweet and friendly. This visit was perfect with one exception. The table was SO WOBBLY. To the point where our plates and condiments were sliding around and almost off the table if we leaned on it. I thought maybe it was just our table but glancing around I noticed a bunch of napkins and other objects shoved under the legs. I have no clue what's up with that but i wasn't about to let it ruin my time. Overall, i highly recommend this place for a lovely, relaxing meal. read more

This was a solid find. I was happy to see the old establishment replaced with this restaurant. It is clean inside with a nice vibe. Service was prompt and friendly. Decent lunch menu. I had a salad and the homemade croutons tasted a little like burnt oil, but the waitress was apologetic and said she would inform the chef. The pizza was thin crust and definitely better than some of the other local joints when it comes to thin crust "new haven" style. Overall, a pleasant experience.
