I arrived at 6:00 am for an early tee time to beat the heat. I was welcomed by Jose and it was a pleasure to meet him. He explained where everything could be located (driving range, chipping area, and the putting green) and got me a cart to hold my clubs. Waters were already in the cart sitting in ice and Jose started to get the range ready so I could hit some balls. The course is tight at times and you definitely need to be able to control the ball as best as you can. The fairways were immaculate and the greens were the same. Greens were slow, and allowed for some aggressive putts. Golf course was an absolute blast and the team working the course is incredible. $59 for a 6:30 Monday tee time, a cart, range balls to hit at my leisure, and a hospitable staff makes this place a must.

The Canadian King of Scotch invited me out for a couple of rounds. This is a little slice of golf heaven in Palm Springs. The course is lush, and in fabulous shape. Greens were rolling fast but fair. This club has a very friendly feel, like the show "Cheers." The clubhouse is lavish but nicely appointed. The food is fantastic! Their lobster roll is to die for! Best I've had on the left coast: fresh, meaty and the roll is nicely buttered. They also offer a southern fried chicken that takes days to prepare. We were celebrating our families' high school graduates with one foursome and one twosome teeing off at 11:40 on a 105 degree off season Friday. The Marshall approaches us and says he has to split us up because it "Looks bad on his GPS and he can tell we're not that good and we're going to slow the group down behind us." Only valid point he had is we should have played our twosome and foursome separately I guess. But we caught up to the group ahead of us so we weren't holding anyone up. Oh, and the high school grads were on the school golf team and made it to CIF Playoffs so I'm confused on who he thought wasn't that good? With a golf course on every corner in the desert, we won't be bringing our business back to this one.

We were stopped at the turn and told we had to skip two holes due to complaints from the group behind that we were holding up play. The group behind was our friends who hadn't complained or waited for us all day. Instead of a reasonable conversation, the marshal informed us that we obviously don't play much (I was 2 over) and we didn't have a choice. As we drove down the 10th, we could see the group behind still playing approach shots to the 9th, and the group behind that wasn't even on the 9th yet. He led us to the twelfth hole, where there was a backup and we waited for every shot for the remainder of the round. I've never encountered a course employee with this type of attitude, let alone expecting it when paying this much to play.

It is a very challenging course though. Narrow fairways and tough greens. I would not recommend golfing here if you're shanking the ball all over the place. Only downside is that there is no driving range but you get over it pretty quickly because for how tough the course is, a driving range ain't gonna make a difference. I think this course is ideal for your afternoon round after your more serious round in the morning. I golfed at PGA West course earlier in the week and would rather golf here again! Definitely will be booking a round everytime im in the area.
