The bagels here are delicious! This little bagel shop is tucked away in a shopping complex on 17 in Hampstead. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and it was packed. The fresh bagels are on display and we got a half dozen to take back to Raleigh. It is hard to find fresh bagels and the flavor and price of these really taste like NY. I loved the everything bagel and also the poppy seed. My niece loved the blueberry bagel. You can order sandwiches on bagels or croissants or bread. For lunch, I had the tuna salad on rye toast and it was one of the best tuna sandwiches I have had. My mom had the roast beef on a bagel and loved it. They serve Boar's head lunchmeat and it is cut fresh. My brother had a lox bagel with cream cheese and capers and said it was delicious. Great bagel long wait time. I guess that is how it goes with the morning rush but it was worth the wait. The everything bagel or the sourdough were our favorites. Having a drive thru is nice even if it took a while to get thru it do to the heavy morning demand. Staff is friendly. Give it a try. read more

The family and I have been here a few times. We've walked in for a to go order as well as dine in. The service has always been pretty good and the bagels are delicious. We especially enjoy the salmon bagel. Our son always orders the everything bagel. The coffee is just your average coffee, but does not disappoint. Who doesn't like coffee and a bagel?! I've gone through the drive thru when I noticed there wasn't a wait(very rare) and the service was fast. There are some reviews mentioning the wait times, but we've had no real issues. Delicious and inexpensive! I live about 15 mins away and it's totally worth the drive. Yes, at times it is crowded and you will have to wait, but that is just a testament to how awesome the food is-- everyone wants it! This place is a little off my regular beaten path, but a wonderful place to stop for a fresh bagel or sandwich. They can be super busy on the weekends as expected for any place, so be prepared for a little wait - it will be worth it. Most days you can call ahead for your order and it's ready and waiting for you when you get there. The staff is all friendly, Hell the patrons are all friendly as well. Ready with a smile to take your order and modify it if needed. So easy they make you feel like family and it's so appreciated! After my stop in there yesterday I can no longer say their bagels are my absolute favorite. It's a toss up between the tuna sammy and the toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese tomato and ham. Who can be made to choose between these things? I'll just keep working my way around the menu but these are standouts in my book!! Now I want to make a run out there tomorrow morning for a bagel! Not going to happen, but they'll be on my mind for my next trip that way! Plenty of room to dine in, easy take out ordering, benches out front if you want to watch the traffic go by as you munch. Stephan makes the best bagels. I prefer this type that are not dense. All sandwiches and dressed bagels are top of the list. Chicken salad is the best in Hampstead. The best bagels south of New York! You know a place is great when it's been around as long as this Hampstead location. My favorite bagel is their everything bagel, it's like eating a soft pretzel. Kaiser rolls and Boars Head deli, every sandwich comes with a kosher dill pickle spear. The service is always friendly and efficient. They also have a drive through window, if you're as lazy as I am and prefer to wait in your car, rather than standing in a line inside. Went Sunday morning. First impressions were not great. Waited for about 20 minutes for a egg and cheese bagel. They microwave their eggs, which made me nervous about how it was gonna taste. I was going they were not runny . However when we finally got our order I was pleasantly surprised. The bagel was AWESOME and the coffee was also really good too . I have been here many time for lunch as well as had their catered breakfast and lunch. They have a good variety of bagels and pastries and the cream cheese choices are many. They have good soups. They also run a special daily. Thursday is Bagel Dog Day! This is a favorite for me. A Boars Head Hotdog comes wrapped in a sesame seed, everything or plain bagel. You do have to order early because they most often run out. They use Boars Head Meats for their sandwiches as well. They offer a yummy chef's salad. All prices are very reasonable. Very slow. They need to either make a 2nd window for orders and keep the other for pick up, or make the drive thru for for call in orders only. Even if you go inside, you wait 15 min plus for a bagel. But the drive thru? 20 min on a good day The eggs... are microwaved. Literally they pour the egg into a plastic dish and nuke it with a tub of precooked bacon probably from when they opened up for the day. Who knows- that's probably microwaved top. After waiting 20 min today, I gave up to walk in. But there was no parking. And when I got in, the line was 10 people deep. Forget it. Now I'm late to work read more

Waited almost a half hour for a bagel with egg and bacon. It was busy and there isn't any real good space when your waiting. The bagel had so much salt on it that it was almost inedible. Skip the everything bagel if this is standard! I had an egg and bacon included and it was good. Service was good but, it seemed like they were struggling to keep up with the patrons. They ran out of cream cheese and a lady looked like she was about to lose her stuff but in her defense I think she was waiting for a while. She was clearly upset. I wasn't impressed and honestly probably more fuss for what it was worth for it. It's affordable but patience is key. If you have the time to kill and have no commitments then go for it. My sandwich was only $3! Great price but..... 30 minutes waiting for a bagel sandwich is painful. They do have a drive thru. Parking is limited in the front. read more

We tried this place for the first time last weekend. It was a small place but not super crowded which is exactly what we wanted. All our usual places have long waits because of all the tourists. I got the jalapeño bagel and veggie cream cheese. It was amazing, my husband got a breakfast sandwich on the French toast bagel and it was delicious too. We were so impressed we walked back up to the counter and got a dozen of various flavors for the week. I was most impressed with the pumpernickel. Needless to say we will be coming back! read more

We love this place and the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is they left out a sandwich when I went through the drive through. I did not realize this until I got home so I called up there and let them know. They knew who I was because they made the sandwich but forgot to put it in my bag. It's Memorial Day, , I've been waiting in the drive through line for over 30 minutes and I'm still not close to the window. The design of the drive through stinks, I'm stuck in line. If you don't have the capacity or staff to handle the orders then close the drive through. This is ridiculous. After hearing about this place from some neighbors we stopped in to grab some takeaway breakfast. This will be the last time for picking up any egg sandwiches from here. The reason is they are using microwave ovens and plastic bowls to cook the eggs. A bit of a toxic and cheep way to cook the eggs. Also this is not associate to the bagel bakery out of California which some of the sites link it to. The menu here is pretty limited in terms of breakfast sandwiches. If you want a bagel with cream cheese this is the place! Great staff. However if you want any kind of hot meat, egg, cheese I would NOT recommend it. Items are heated in PLASTIC containers in the MICROWAVE- a process that is KNOWN to cause CANCEROUS components to be leached from the plastic containers into food that is then eaten, leaving those carcinogenic compounds to be ABSORBED in your body. read more
