Bagels here were surprisingly amazing for the location being in Arizona. The bagels are huge and the service is friendly and quick. I was in and out of there with two bagel sandwiches within five minutes. I ordered the egg bagel, which was full of variety of seeds and had cheese and egg on it. Nice selection of juices and sodas. Seems like a wonderful family operation. Highly recommend.

Let me preface this by saying I'm an east coast bagel girl. And a traditionalist of sorts when it comes to bagels. I'm also the frequent "duchess" of the Chompies near me. For the first time in over a decade I found myself in the south Phoenix area before 8 a.m., so I used the opportunity to try the Bagel Man. I've made a couple of other mid-morning attempts but was always too late. Service was prompt and friendly. The owner tried joking with the person in line before me, but I think the joke was lost on him. I felt a bit like I was in a Seinfeld episode because of that mis-interaction. I got a half dozen to-go - three everything, three sesame. They were huge! Like the size of my hand huge! I was then stuck in I-10 traffic going north in rush hour, so I reached into the bag to tear off a piece of a bagel. I was surprise to find the bagel was somewhat "crusty" but very fluffy inside. I likened it to a big like a French bread bagel. It had a nice crunch, was but surprisingly soft and light inside. Traffic was bad; I ate it all. Once home, I toasted up another one and added my preferred topping (vegan margarine). It was good, but continued to be a bit too French bread-ish for my preferences. And I hadn't factored in how big it was after having already eaten one in the car. So, I will stick with Chompies, but it's nice to have finally tried them!

I'm so disappointed. This used to be the best bagel shop in town and now I can barely give it three stars. My bagel was refrigerator cold. There was minimal cream cheese on it. It lacked in flavor except for the toppings. Consistency was good. For Saturday morning about 9 AM. They only had five varieties of bagels.

This is THE BEST bagel shop and the loveliest people who run it. A small business at its best, the bagels are perfection, and it's always so busy, which is always a great sign about the quality. I usually just buy a baker's dozen - variety of 12 fresh bagels - so my order is usually very simple. The owner sometimes throws in an extra bagel. Please note that they close when they have run out and that is always in the morning, so don't leave it too late or you'll miss it. It's a great local bagel shop, highly recommended!

9/6/25: Finally popped in to The Bagel Man this particular Saturday, what a fun time! From the second we walked in the door, the vibe made us feel like we were greeting long-lost-family. The gentleman behind the counter was boisterous, cracking jokes left & right, gobbling like a turkey (trying to persuade me to order that particular bagel breakfast sandwich - it worked). Ha! It is a tight spot, no sitting inside, and only a few chairs/tables outside. They have a lot of classic items in front of their counters (stereos, phone, etc); that was fun to peruse through while we waited. The sandwiches came out quickly & luckily a table was available outside. While we were woofing down the delightful food, a guy came out & started speaking with us. Turns out, he was the cook. Great guy & it was so enlightening to talk to him about the bagels, the store in general, how they're made (by hand!!), all that jazz. After speaking with him, we definitely came away with a higher appreciation of all the work that family does to make such wonderful food. If you haven't tried The Bagel Man, you are missing out. To hell with that other famous bagel place :-), The Bagel Man is the place to go!

As bagel aficionados, we're always looking for the ideal bagel shop. The Bagel Man is dead on! This Mom & Pop outfit put out some awesome looking, delicious tasting and wholesomely beautiful bagels. Thank you Owner/Chef Kal Salih for bringing the essence, taste and memories of my childhood home of NYC to Phoenix. I never, ever, ever thought I'd be tasting these flavors again - but here you are, and so are we. Although its origins may date as far back as the 13th Century, this unique form of bread of yeasted dough, craftily hand shaped, boiled and beautifully baked is an art form that crossed the pond to the Americas thanks to late 19th century Jewish migration - thank you! And thank you again Kal Salih, the Bagel Man for giving Phoenix the real taste of bagels. We will spread the word, as well as keep coming back for more, and more, and more.

Tried this place for the first time and it was very good! I wish I had asked for it toasted, but even untoasted I was pleasantly surprised! Great home made scallion cream cheese. Super nice people too!! Really reasonable price for the lox bagel too. Lots of cream cheese.

Sometimes you just crave a good bagel and The Bagel Man delivered I ordered the Lox on an everything bagel, served with red onion slices. I usually liked this bagel dressed more like with capers or tomatoes and I think it is typically served with this looking at the menu, but the bagel itself was so fluffy! The star for us was the Breakfast bagel with pastrami. Again, a perfectly fluffy bagel, the slices of pastrami were thin yet flavorful and the egg was soft.

Some reviewers will give places higher ratings based on quantity. The Bagel Man deserves high ratings on QUALITY, Quantity, and value. These bagels are huge, authentic and reasonably priced. It is almost like walking into a NY bagel shop. I drove 30 mins to try them, a couple days later, I made the adventure again. The only hurdle is going to be how I will be able to tallest there in my wide slot toaster. Trust me, it is not a bad problem to have! Thank you staff for being so friendly and helpful.

Happened to be on this side of town so had to stop by and check this place out. The owner and workers were so sweet and fast. They even gave us two free bagels to take! We just got a bagel with cream cheese and it was honestly delicious. Nice little spot to come and grab some bagels! Oh also love their selection of cream cheese

The bagels are fresh and their cream cheese is homemade. Overall they are very good. The only thing I don't like is that they give you an obscene amount of cream cheese. I get almost 8oz of cheese on one bagel. That is just too much. It's wasteful. read more

The energy in this place reminded me of why I love small businesses. The owner new regulars by name, caught up with familiar faces that have moved away from the area but stopped by for some bagel goodness. And the most important aspect was the quality of the food. You can feel the love and expertise that's put into the bagels here. Even though I got the Reuben (excellent choice), I couldn't help but sampling my wife's and Son's bagels. The crispy outside, soft interior, and flavorful cream cheese smear made it a winner! read more

What an awesome bagel place. Everything here is fresh and just walking in the door it smells like heaven. They have an amazing selection and everything is out of this world insane crazy good. The people who work here are friendly and nice and helpful and go out of their way to make sure that you're happy with everything you get. And the bagels like I said are amazing. I seldom give out 5 Stars but anything less for this bagelmaster would be an injustice. Unlike bagels back east, these bagels are less doughy and more fluffy on the inside. The outside has a nice crunch and to top it all off they are probably a half inch larger than your normal bagel. I had them make me an Everything Bagel, toasted with cream cheese, bacon and egg. A truly amazing taste experience - not too garlicky, not too salty, just perfection in the form of a boiled piece of dough. If I lived in Phoenix I would be eating here every weekend. The only criticism is that the store's A/C doesn't ever seem to be working and so it gets a little warm if you decide to eat on site. When I return to Atlanta I will be stopping here before I board the plane to purchase a few to show what a real bagel should be. Kudos PHX - the best bagel West of the Mississippi! read more

Absolutely love love love this wonderful bagel place. I really thought the only place you could get good bagels was on the east coast in cities like New York or Philadelphia but I have to say that I found a new spot to satisfy my cravings. If you come here in the morning and I always come here in the morning everything is fresh and the entire place smells like fresh baked bagels. Their selection of cream cheese and baked goods is phenomenal and the people here are so nice. If you're in the area you have to stop by it's a must. read more

I'm a born and raised New Yorker. These bagel are top notch best I've had out here in Phoenix. Bagels are fresh baked perfectly one bite and I was transported back to my childhood. I will advise to pick up early these bagels are so good they sellout early we purchase the last couple of bagels and it wasn't even 10am. The owner explained he comes in at 2am to prep the bagels daily and opens the doors at 6am. read more

My go-to bagel in AZ. Stopped at his shop many times about ten years ago when I was going to a class in Ahwatukee on Saturdays. He hails from Morristown NJ, which was an automatic thumbs up as I am from Northern Jersey also. Never found a decent bagel in AZ until I found him. You can actually watch the bagels being made through the windows. No frills check out counter but the staff is friendly and very efficient. Limited seating but who the hell wants to listen to sports when you can breathe the morning air. Coffee was available also, which is the perfect marriage of carbs and caffeine. The local cops stop here so you know the food is legit. read more

I stopped in this morning for a breakfast bagel sandwich, I found this place randomly on yelp and since it has such great reviews I thought I'd give it a try! It is your typical hole in the wall shop that offers up some delicious fresh bagels! I ordered the egg and lox breakfast sandwich. I ordered it on a toasted everything bagel that was absolutely fantastic with the lox, tomato and chive cream cheese! The scrambled egg was sub par but I expected it to be. The bagels are far exceeding your typical Einsteins bagel and I would recommend a stop by The Bagel Man to anyone! read more

I've been everywhere. Spent a lot of time in New York and Montreal with their version of bagels. These are the best bagels I've ever had. It's a shame it's not open on weekends but, I understand the owners concern regarding employees having some time off with their families. read more

The bagel man looks like a simple store, but it is anything but that. The manager is extremely kind, and he even will remember your usual orders and name! They have a wide selection of cream cheese which is amazing. My favorite is the lox cream cheese which is a salty cream cheese but not too salty, and it's amazing. The bagels were delicious. It was warm and toasty in there as well. Plus, the eggs were real - which was awesome. However, they use American cheese on the egg and cheese sandwiches and it really ruined it for me. Would go back again, and ask for no cheese! read more

Horrible customer service. Nobody asks you want unless you say hello can I order ... their go to answer as to when more bagels will be ready is 20-25 minutes without checking and expect a longer wait. Asked for an update lady said 20-25 minutes ... that was 25 minutes after waiting go somewhere else not worth it read more

For dinner on our third visit, we ordered the clam linguine and an Italian beef sandwich. My husband says this clam linguine was better than the other versions he's eaten at Little Italy. The Italian sandwich was good, but not as savory as the Chicago beef. Can't wait to eat here, again, the next time we visit the Padres during spring training.

He just disappeared for a while when his workers were busting their butts in the kitchen and front of house. The food was good, so I'll give this place two stars instead of one.

I will preface this review by saying that I have spent most of my life living in New York and I am absolutely critical of all bagels that I eat. Now, let me say that Bagel Man carries by far the best bagel I have ever tasted outside of New York State. The owner has a location back east as well, so it is no surprise that he knows what he's doing. You can try anywhere else you want in the Phoenix metro region, but you will never find a bagel that comes even close to the flavor and taste of these authentic bagels. Every single one of my family and friends that have come to visit me agree. In addition, anytime I introduce these bagels to any of my local friends they are blown away and from then on will not buy a bagel anywhere else. Plain and simple, Bagel Man has the absolute best bagels you will have outside of New York and I have even found in many occasions that his bagels are better than some of the places back east. read more

I had the pleasure of trying the bagels at the Bagel Man in Phoenix, AZ, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. These bagels are as close to authentic NY style as you can get on the West Coast. The reasonable prices are just the icing on the cake. I should have taken a photo of my food BEFORE I started eating because it doesn't look as nice anymore. That aside the bagels are so big and tasty. Don't be surprised if there is a a line and they have closed early because they ran out bagels! Goes to show how good this place is. My favorite is the cheese bagels. The Bagel Man never has enough of the bagels we like in stock. Even if you order ahead, they are often not available when you get there. His manner is unpleasant and uncooperative. His employees are visibly uncomfortable around him. His bagels are very expensive and not that good. I have been to many places that are less expensive and much better tasting.
