I had such a great experience at this studio. I hadn't taken a bar class in a long time, so I was a bit nervous going in to it. The staff made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door. I got a tour of the place and a little summary of what to expect for the hour. The instructor was so encouraging and knowledgeable about proper form. She was not hesitant to come over and fix my body position to make sure I was doing it safely and so that I would get the most out of it. My whole body was shaking by the end of it, which is the purpose so I felt great about the class! I am sure I will be very sore, but I am also very eager to get back in that studio! read more

During my recent trip to D-town I was eager to find some sort of workout since a) no gym at my in-laws and b) it was way too hot (and rainy) to run outside. I turned to one of my favorite pregnancy workouts: The Bar Method. Since I"m a bit of a workoutaholic and was only 3 1/2 months pregnant at the time I just signed up online for one of their regular classes. Thanks to all my work travels I've done the Bar Method many times in a variety of cities. It may have been my first time doing the Bar Method in Dallas, but figured I didn't need to waste my time with an easy intro class. However, when I arrived and mentioned to the girls at the front desk that I was pregno they gave me a hard time about not starting with a pre-natal class, which they didn't even have on the schedule for that particular day. Fortunately, I talked my way into the "advanced" class and was able to get my workout on. While I don't have much energy at 8:15am on a Friday I found the teacher to have especially low energy. I usually find that the Bar Method class flies by, but looked at my watch several times throughout this workout. I left feeling somewhat satisfied with my workout, but it was definitely one of the weaker Bar Method classes I've attended throughout the country. The studio itself was beautiful and I'd definitely be up for trying another class while in town. I've tried Exhale's* Core Fusion class, which is very similar on other trips to Dallas and found that to be a bit more challenging. Too much instructor poking and prodding for my tastes. In more than one instance, the nudge made me feel pain and my protests were ignored. I'd rather miss the magical burn than tweak my neck or my hips or whatever part of me the instructors think ought to be doing something different. I've taken barre classes in 3 other studios / gyms over the course of many years and never felt this combination of pique and pain. Not my method! read more

The studio is so nice and clean! The ladies at the front desk are super sweet, and they make it a point to remember your name- greet you when you arrive and leave. Free locker w/ key, free towel service, free water. The studio rooms are really nice. They recently just expanded/added a new studio room, so there's 2 large rooms and 1 small room. The teachers are really nice, and really want everyone to succeed. They go around during sets to make sure everyone is in the right posture, and correct you if need be. I love the music during the workout! The workout itself is not that intense, but it's a good strengthening and toning workout. At times I would leave class with just a little sweat under the boobs in my sports bra, but other than that you won't be dripping in sweat. I go to class 4+ days/week. I was so sore the first week I was there, but after that I'm all good. It's almost a month now, and I can't say I've noticed significant changes to my body just yet. In the location that it's in, a lot of commonality you'll see is (house) wives w/ large diamond rings, women wearing Uggs boots and Lululemon Athletica clothing. The women that I attend the 6:30AM classes are super nice, but I'm not too sure about the ladies in the later classes. I took 1 star away because the stretching during class is very brief. I need more time to stretch out my muscles, so therefore I have to stay an extra 15 minute after class to stretch on my own. read more

If you are worried about body shaming or feel you are too out of shape for bar, 'shake' that feeling out! I'm a regular at The Bar Method - Kansas City and was visiting home for the weekend. So I decided I'd try this studio. As with everything, I went in having already read the Yelp reviews so I was mindful of the concerns over hospitality. Everyone who said they were rude and inattentive couldn't be more wrong! I was immediately greeted when I went in for my Sat 8:30 class! The girl knew exactly who I was when I said my name and that I was visiting from another studio. I got the typical tour - super nice facility! I love the hardwood floors and the small details in lighting that makes this place feel like a spa. I love my studio but this place was def. a little more snazzy and spacious. The workout was just was I expected. There were some differences between my studio that don't really make a difference in the over all workout but are more just personal style between instructors. I will admit that for the first 15 mins or so the instructor wasn't as energetic so it started out slow but she def. pumped up the volume, metaphorically speaking, for the rest of class. Again that's likely just a style choice. I most def. will come back next time I'm in town. read more

Beautiful Studio. Great Price for New Students. They let you try a class at the single class price ($22) and if you like it, you can sign up for the $100 unlimited classes for new students by just paying the remainder ($78). That's what I did. Classes are challenging but its a great workout. I was sore after the first one. They have an online booking system (which I love) and a waiting list in case the class you want is full. You can reserve your spot in class up to two weeks in advance. Wish they offered more classes on Friday but otherwise schedule is varied with early morning, daytime and evening classes. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for something different for your workout routine. read more

The Park City Bar Method location is consistently HOT, HUMID, STUFFY and SWEATY. The air conditioning is insufficient to cool a room with 20+ students. The owner refuses to acknowledge the heat issue likely because she doesn't want to invest money to up-grade the system. Interestingly though, the manager does admit the AC is under powered. Definitely not the place you want to work out in the middle of a respiratory pandemic!!! You know it must be a bad situation when even a Bar teacher advises students not to renew their memberships. I work out at Bar Method 3-4 times a week. It's THE BEST barre workout I've done (Extend Barre, VBarre, Pure Barre, Lifetime Fitness barre-less barre!) There are classes throughout the day that fit into everyone's schedule. I particularly like the evening and Saturday classes as these work best for me. Teachers here know your name. They demonstrate correct form and then go around the room and offer individual corrections and cues--these always help me to self-correct and visualize the ideal position. I love the verbal encouragement--this helps keep my energy up. Do the Bar Method 3,4,5 times a week for a month and you will see results. Do it for longer and you'll be amazed at how you look and feel! This is a great studio. I read some of the comments about unwelcoming staff and wealthy clientele and what I can tell you is there are women of every age, shape, and level of ability here. I get talked into all sort of stuff. I'm rarely the mastermind behind ANYTHING and I go along with anyone if they are passionate enough about it (note to self, avoid bridges and jumpers). Megan had heard about this class from someone and just KNEW it was going to be the answer to our chubby girl prayers. Long lean muscles!! Dancer arms! Beautiful long legs!! So we payed our $25 or so online and signed up for what looked like the beginner(ish) class. The instructor was sweet and corrected us well and overall I wasn't the biggest goober in there. So that was good. Keep in mind, I do not mind hard work, and I would rather be pushed hard past my limits. So truly, my three stars aren't for the absolute agony i was in for days later or the toughness of the class (honestly, if you remember to breathe it's not that bad). My three stars are for the feeling I got from the place. Welcoming? Yeah, sorta not really. We got a short tour "this is the bathroom, this is the locker area" from a girl who seemed eager to return to her station and chat with regulars. 98% of the rest of the clientele looked like they'd left their 2.2 children with the nanny while they came to get the "long lean dancer body" at their $175/month Bar method class. I was honestly considering buying the "new client" deal for $100 for a month to see if I really liked it. But I didn't really feel welcomed so I didn't. I even kind of lingered around the front desk waiting to be asked if I needed help but nobody offered, just eautiful thin worker girls giggling with other beautiful thin regulars. So we left. I'm sure there are some who LOVE it and I know how hard it is to find something you love (shout out Traci my favorite spin instructor) so if you do, don't let my review sway you. Maybe just don't be a chubby newbie with a year old tank top and not the right slipper socks and you'll fit riiiiight in. read more

I randomly found this on a Google maps search for places near my work. I have only done 3 classes each 1 hour long, and I am already noticing the difference. I love the fact it is low impact but constant muscle tensing. I can easy workout without feeling like I have to take a shower before going back to work. The Bar Method has changed my life. I was a gym rat that had hit a plateau in my fitness. I worked out consistently 5 days a week and would spend around 2 hours at the gym. I ate pretty well but still couldn't seem to get the results I was wanting (leaner, more toned, dancer-like body). Well, then I read about The Bar Method in some magazine (US Weekly maybe) and ordered the dvds (before this studio opened). I stopped going to the gym and did the dvd workouts. I began seeing results. I then decided I would sacrifice the $175 a month to start going to the studio. That is a lot for me to spend each month but it is SO worth it. I would never give up my Bar Method. Within 2 months of going 4-5 times a week to the studio I had to buy new jeans/pants. I have now been going for about 18 months and I have a body I never thought I could have. I've gone from a size 8 to a 4. I like looking in the mirror now. Granted, I've also cleaned up my diet (I already ate pretty clean before), but I have much more definition everywhere on my body and it's from going to Bar Method 4-5 times a week. My boyfriend has noticed a difference and has seen my transformation. He bought me 3 new pairs of jeans after my first 2 months because none of my other pants fit anymore! I first noticed a difference in my legs, then seat, then abs and most recently my arms. Hello tank tops and skinny jeans! If you stick with Bar Method and go consistently, you will gradually start to sculpt the body you thought you'd never get. Don't just go for the first few weeks or a month and talk yourself into quitting. Stick with it for at least 6 months (hopefully more) and you won't regret it. It's an extremely safe and effective workout. The studio is lovely and clean. There are class times to fit anyone's schedule. Also, all of the staff/instructors here are extremely nice and knowledgeable. They learn your name quickly and have modifications for all ages and fitness levels. I'm not an expert at this type of exercise but the crew at this studio made it easy for me to catch on and get a great work out. I started attending classes last year and have been going on and off due to work and other commitments. Regardless of how many months between visits the class leaders always greeted me by name, which makes me feel welcomed. I'm always impressed by their professionalism and the way they focus on form. I have been going to this Bar Method location since they opened, about nine years. It is called a "method" because it is part of a healthy lifestyle that one enjoys regularly. When you step inside of the Bar Method, you will be greeted warmly by your name. (Not sure how they keep up with everyone!) The Bar Method system is low impact, which is important to me -- love my joints, lol. This workout includes plenty of stretching, push ups in between moves, glut-firming dancing as well as modifications when needed. It honestly does not get "easier" if one is focusing on proper form, and instructors correct form constantly. Many pregnant ladies continue to work out using this system and then bounce back into shape so quickly after having their babies. This speaks volumes to the bar method safety as well as effectiveness! It is easy and fun for new clients to try it out, and the best deal truly is the unlimited membership if one goes 3X plus per week. Lively music and fun instructors that make humorous comments during work outs (we don't respond, but rather may snicker or crack up silently while sweating) make exercising more enjoyable. I have tried other work out modalities in the past but have found that this one works very well for me! I also look forward to the super friendly atmosphere at the Lovers/Inwood location. read more

I love the atmosphere here! When you walk in, you are greeted right away. Even in my first class with Lisa (studio owner), she knew my name. I have taken from a different teacher each time and they always learn my name right away. It is a very personable class where you are with a group but they will call out "Great form, Anne" or come up and correct your positioning. The workout is amazing. The movements are simple, you won't feel like you can't keep up, but the repetition is what gets you! It targets every muscle. Definitely got my shake on. Nice clean studio, super friendly staff. This is a great Bar Method studio! I have tried the Bar Method in several cities (Austin, LA, Orange County) and this studio has the nicest instructors by far! All of the women give you the biggest smile when you arrive and make sure they know your name before class so they can address you appropriately. I have really enjoyed taking Candice and Anne's classes...both difficult but enjoyable at the same time. These classes are such a great, low impact workout and I love coupling them with runs throughout the week for some solid cardio. And the $100 introductory month is a great way to get to know the workout and the instructors! read more

There are options that can be modified for each exercise. The instructors are top notch! I think I've had everyone and can honestly say they are all wonderful. I'm not that great at sticking to any one thing, but Ive been going to the Park Cities Bar Method for about a year and a half now, and that really says a lot! I started Bar on a lark, as I was in physical therapy for some sports injuries, got bored with yoga, and thought I could only do EASIER exercises...Ha! You can push yourself to work as hard as you want, and there were modifications to each position so that i could still get a fantastic workout in despite being in PT. It's also great to be able to tone and stretch your whole body in just an hour. The staff remembered my name after my first visit, and everyone is very personable. The instructors are all really sweet and supportive. They push you just enough with little suggestions regarding your technique that really make a big difference in results. Speaking of results, I've stayed with this for so long, and will continue to do so because the results have been amazing. I'm out of PT, and definitely feel so much stronger, have better balance, and feel less injury prone now. I'm back on the tennis court, and I'm moving so much better now that my knees and hips are stronger, which are targeted better here than in any other class that I've experienced. I've visited the NYC Soho studio too, and it was so packed that you need to sign up for a class days in advance, there was only a two minute transition time between classes. It really made me appreciate the nice spacious studio that we have here. read more

A few weeks ago I walked in with one of my good friends after getting some juice at the juice store next door. My friend really wanted to check out the "cute" workout clothes that were being advertised and also get more info on the workout/rates. After coming in (note: the worker had to un-deadbolt the front entrance) and browsing the clothing, we did NOT feel welcomed at all. We were "greeted" by pretentious petulence! When my friend asked the instructor questions on the workouts and rates, she received very brief responses. There was zero desire to get us interested OR even show that our potential business was valued. It seemed like we were being rushed out of the store as soon as we walked in. When we swiftly left the store and got in our car, we were like "WTH just happened?" Our disbelief was mainly at the instructors phony positive attitude. 5 stars! At the bar method, you will really get a workout! I have been attending classes daily for a little over a week and I can already see the difference. I just moved to Dallas a month ago from NY and was looking for a studio and decided to give this location a try. I signed up for the monthly unlimited and so far I am very happy with the services. Nicole, the manager is awesome!! She is such a pleasure, I just love taking her classes!!! She is very knowledgable about the bar technique and is encouraging, she knows how to keep everyone in the class motivated. Just about all the instructors are hands on, engaging with all the students to make sure you have the correct technique and form. The facility is very nice, well-ordered and clean. Depending on the class size, there are 3 different rooms where classes are held, there is a locker room, towels and water for you. The entire staff is very friendly, and welcoming. . .My first day at the studio Tucker was so great explaining everything! One of the things that stands out about this location is the level of personalization they have with all the students, from the moment you step in the door. You are greeted with a smile and by your first name. Although the class size may vary from small to big, they still manage to give special attention to each student. After several years of poor strength and muscle tone post-surgery, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands! I found the bar method after researching several types of exercise regimens, none of which were good for my joints and shoulders. My first time at bar method was so welcoming and great!! The ladies running the place are so nice and helped me feel at ease trying it out. My first class was stellar (with jacie)!! I felt energized, and it really wasn't too hard on me even though it's been ages since I've gotten moving like that! Unfortunately, given my poor joints and neck, I pinched a major nerve just a couple days after I joined and was out nearly 2 weeks. Crystal was SO accommodating and understanding while I recovered, and was able to stretch my month for an extra week so I wouldn't miss out on the classes! I've gotten back in to it now and cannot wait to see what's in store for my health and body!! read more

Used to be a fun, challenging workout with motivating teachers and a welcoming atmosphere but a lot of the energy and community feeling is gone now that they lost their previous manager and added random teachers who don't have the same level of precision or commitment to their clients, and just don't seem like they really care. I was given a short tour of the studio and shown to the room we would be exercising in. Staff was very inviting and courteous. I love it here! I've been to a a couple of other barre classes in Dallas, and this is definitely my favorite. The workout and format is pretty similar to other barre classes. However, the service and staff is what makes this place stand out for me. I love that there are 2 locker areas so there's always plenty of room to change and store your belongings. The staff learns your name and greets you every time. They are all incredibly friendly. During classes, they are really good at providing continuous instruction. They will walk around and physically adjust you to make sure that your form is correct. In addition, they always offer modifications to make an exercise more or less challenging. I really love that they offer a Level 1 class. It's not necessarily an easier workout, but it tends to be a smaller class with an emphasis on structure and form. If you're apprehensive about taking a class, I'd recommend starting out with a Level 1. However, the mixed level classes are still perfectly fine for beginners. They also offer prenatal and level 2 classes. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and have their own style, so expect a consistently great workout that may differ pending on the instructor. I also appreciate that throughout the class, they always explain what each exercise works and what the benefit is. Pricing is pretty similar to other studios in the area. I really like their schedule. I feel like they have good options for both morning, afternoon, and evening. If you have been thinking about taking a class, I say go for it! read more
