I have been coming here since September and I absolutely love this studio, the instructors and the classes. The instructions are knowledgable, kind and know everyone's name (which I find amazing, as sometimes the classes are packed!). I've taken class with Roseann, Paige, Molly and Michelle - all are great, encouraging and correct your form when needed. I look forward to coming to this class and I have noticed the change in my body over the course of the last few months. I recently participated in a challenge for a pair of grip socks and this was so motivating - I love fitness studios that have some sort of challenge! I started at Bar Method in Hoboken (before it closed) so I already knew I loved the bar method before coming to this location while up in LI visiting family. The instructors were great + it's the same amazing workout i remember. I saw some reviews comparing the prices to Orangetheory or other workout types, and I don't think it's a fair comparison. Bar method has highly trained instructors and the workout is safe for a variety of levels and walks of life (ie older or pregnant). You won't sweat like you do in a HIIT class but you'll be just as sore. Bar method focuses on working a very focused muscle through small isometric movements. You need to consistently go to learn the movements and see results. It's not a one and done class! If you have the time and energy, I'd definitely recommend giving It a consistent effort for 3 months. You'll be amazing how your body, mobility and endurance changes! read more

I took my first barre class at a different studio a few month ago, and didn't really like it. My mom enjoys barre though and takes it often, so she convinced me to try this studio with her. I ended up absolutely loving it, and went back again the following week. The studio itself is very clean, and they make you feel so welcomed when you walk in. The class itself was challenging, but a lot of fun! I workout a lot, but it really humbled me. You're holding moves and pulsing a lot throughout the class, so you're definitely feeling it and will be sore after (but that's how you know it's working!). The instructor was also great, and I loved that she was counting reps during the class, so we knew how much we had left. If you like barre or fitness classes in general, I would recommend checking this studio out. read more

Great studio. It's in the crowded plaza that has soul cycle, solid core, dry bar etc. I've taken a lot of barre from exhale, pure barre, physique 57 etc and wanted to try something in LI. the bar method is comparable. The classes (even the reg vs express) feel a bit quicker when you're going through the sets (thighs v glutes v abs) then other places for some reason but it's a great workout. They cover total body and the arms portion is always a killer. Instructors are fantastic and attempt to know your name, and do a great job with that. The studio is clean and actually fairly large fitting a good amount of students. There's only one class happening at once. The con is that it really is expensive. Compared to equinox or other HIIT studios like orangetheory, it's significantly more expensive (by $100/mo?) and I wouldn't want barre to be my only membership/type of workout. You need variety to see results like barre + cardio + high intensity on alternating days. Otherwise everything is great and I'd be stuck. read more

I like the intensity of these classes and how (most) of the instructors will come around fixing form. Be prepared to be called out by name for some of these modifications - which is totally okay and no one blinks twice... everyone has something they're doing incorrectly :) The only thing I would say is that I wish there were more variation between classes - especially if you go routinely / often. The instructors are great (take Christine's classes - she's my favorite!!) and the facility is very clean and has what you need (Water, towels, etc.) for a class. The first 30 days unlimited classes are a great deal, if you live in the area and can go often enough to make it worthwhile. I've never done such a regimented workout before (going every other day if not more), and it's making a real difference - I've surprised myself and I may be addicted soon enough :) It's located in the @250 building with Soul Cycle, a healthy prepared foods store, dry bar, etc. so its' a nice little health / wellness building. Parking can be difficult since there are always people in classes - so give yourself time for that. read more

I tried bar method over the summer because my friends were raving about it and noticeably getting in better shape. But, as an avid yogi who just got back from college in Colorado, I felt very let down after going to 4 classes. The instructors were very nice, but the room is extremely small and claustrophobic, which was ultimately my biggest turn-off. Even over the summer which is supposed to be their "less crowded" time of year, it was extremely uncomfortable being so close to other people and worrying about hitting them. Also, this creates a more competitive atmosphere, which is something I don't think is healthy in a workout class full of women. Instead of focusing on myself and the benefits of the workout, I was more concerned with hitting the other women and how they were doing each move. As for the workout itself, I did feel sore after my first day, but the overall experience was just not for me. A sculpt yoga class or a power vinyasa does a lot more for the body(and mind!) than this, but that's just my personal opinion! I recommend trying it out, especially if you can get a deal on the membership, because a lot of people really do love bar method. But, overall, the room needs to be bigger and the instructors need to stop calling your name out in front of the class to correct you! You should be saying "great job" if you're going to call someone out, not telling them what they did wrong. I do not recommend that kind of environment to women who have never tried a workout class before and who are looking to feel good about themselves(which should be the main goal of working out in the first place, right?) read more

I have been a dancer for 20 years. I never had any professional training, but I danced all through my childhood all the way through college. I have been off the dance floor for several years now, so it is safe to say, I lost most of my flexibility, strength and focus...This class brings me back home and will bring back to the body I once had. I felt the change after the first class! They focus on the fundamental building blocks of your body. There is an equal portion focus on your arms, legs/glutes and abs -- don't worry, you will also be working on all of these body parts throughout the workout as well... If you miss a beat, the instructor will let you know...this trains you to only focus on your body and the instructors instructions (very important for work/home). Do not worry if you are not a dancer...everyone in the class is at different levels...The instructors are good enough to give great instructions but also consistently walk around and help correct movements and placement... You naturally get better every class. The more you go the more you grow in strength, ability and focus. Lastly, at this location, you are always welcomed with a smile and everyone here is super nice. I love coming back every morning, 6am...yasssss...they have be rushing out the door to make it to class. It is that good. BTW, I am NOT a morning person, so that says a lot. read more

Fantastic location with ample parking in a great complex (also includes SoulCycle, and some interesting soon-to-open businesses, including Organic Avenue). My devotion to all things barre use to mean a whole lot of breathless and inconvenient commuting to classes in the city. No more, now that I can just hop on the LIE and be at Bar Method Roslyn in 15 minutes. The space is large and welcoming, with ample lockers/cubbies/showers. The instructors are top notch. The class times are convenient -- so convenient that classes are frequently packed. My home studio is Bar Method Burbank, which is without equal. However, whenever I'm on the East Coast, I will be at Bar Method Roslyn. Thanks, Molly and Michele! read more

There was a little bit of confusion in the beginning about using the groupon (receptionist had no idea if the groupon could still be used even tho the groupon expired the day after) but I eventually got to attend some classes. I went to 3 of the 5 classes i had. The classes were tough. I enjoyed it. There were a lot of parking in the back..... The carpet in the room was weird because it had some large lumps and bumps that actually hindered your work out. I didn't feel all that "welcomed" by the receptionists. On a side note, port washington bar method moved to roslyn. Supposedly everything is new. I haven't been there, so I can't comment. read more

Upon receiving a recommendation, I decided to break from my regular routine and try this class. While it wasn't highly aerobic, it sure was challenging. It hurt to walk later in the day, and im still quite sore today. I don't know about you but that's the mark of a truly effective workout. I can see how doing this regularly would really tone my body. I had the worst experience with this location of the Bar Method. I signed up for a new client special, was told I would get a free pair of socks for completing 12 classes, and at the end of the special was told I only did 11 classes and was a 'no show' to one. They were extremely unprofessional in dealing with the situation. I attended all 12 classes and always checked in at the front desk. No one emailed or called or texted about the no show class - I was told thats because one day is automatically deducted from the class packages for no shows, which is why I didn't get a charge or notification. However, I spoke to at least two people at the front desk (one in person, one on the phone) one to two days before my special was ending to ask the end date and no one mentioned anything about being docked one day from the special for the no show. I even have a voicemail from them the day before my special ended stating the original end date. All of this they refused to acknowledge. They conveniently had no record of my coming to class when it came time to honor their promotion. This could have been a simple mistake and if any of this had been brought to my attention at the time of the supposed missed class, it could have been remedied, but of course a month later no one is going to remember if the class was attended. Now the pair of socks is hardly the problem here. It is the unprofessional behavior, complete disregard to the fact that they may have made a mistake, and their rudeness in dealing with a customer. Its safe to say that I will never return to this location or recommend it to anyone. read more

I have been to two other bar method studios before but this one by far is my favorite. They are so welcoming as soon as you walk through the door you are greeted by smile and you can certainly expect the same thing when you leave. Trust me I've been doing classpass for about 3 months now, and it isn't hard to notice that I'm almost always the only dark girl in the class, butt his studio never made me feel uncomfortable or out of place being that I'm a but bigger than other student as well. Bar Method has transformed the way I think about exercising and my body. My best friend who goes to one in Connecticut recommended for me to try it and honestly the best workout that has ever happened to me. I have a lower back herniated disc from working out and Bar Method helps you with your core with helps my back tremendously. The studio is clean and great. These are the best barre classes of several studios I've tried (PB, Exhale, P57). These classes flow well and instructors cue and describe proper positioning so students can get into correct form - they also give constructive individual corrections. The workout is challenging but all the instructors are encouraging. There is also consistency in the quality of the instructors; I've had classes with many different instructors here and they were all great - not like some studios where there are good and not so good instructors. read more

If you have never tried a "Bar" class before, this is a great place to start. I purchased unlimited classes off a Groupon coupon for 49 dollars and I was ready visit the studio for a one month time peirod. All of the staff were friendly and they made an effort to learn the names of the participants of the class. Each instructor had their own style, and walked around either verbally correcting or physically adjusting each member. Since I was a newbie, I wanted to make sure to was holding the correct pose or positioning my back or legs in the proper direction. The class was all ages and all ability levels. The place - studio, locker room, and bathrooms - are spotless and the studio is cleaned between each class. Worth signing up for a free class and giving it a try. read more

Was really excited for my class. Unfortunately the signage was terrible, just sun bleached posters in the window not visible when you drive by. I even pulled in the parking lot and then left because the back window looked like a vacant store front. My early arrival turned into a late one as I desperately to called to get directions. I ended up missing the warm up and arm section of the $25 workout and was really disappointed that the morning workout I was looking forward to had become so stressful. Class was not even half full. Instructor was okay. I've been to at least 8 other Bar Method studios across the country and this didn't even compare. Don't know how they'll stay in business. read more

I started Bar Method about 6 months ago. I love, love, love it. I felt & saw immediate results. It really strengthens and tones every body part. Since the workout focuses so much on perfect form, there is always something to learn and improve on, which helps keep it challenging and effective. EVERY teacher I have worked with is great. Can't pin down whose class I love the most. They all offer their own special quality to the class, but one thing they all have in common is their knowledge and dedication to helping you perfect your workout. The Bar Method in Roslyn is an amazing workout. It completely transforms your body! The studio is a very comfortable place to workout. The instructors know your name and what I love is that you never get the impression that this is the instructor's workout as opposed to your own. Every instructor walks among the students in the class and makes corrections in your form in a gentle, supportive way. I have never gotten so much personal attention from any other fitness studio or gym class as I have at the Bar Method. The workouts are very effective because each person is doing the right movements. I would give the workout even more stars if I could. read more

First I need to say if you are looking for the most amazing body transforming workout out there the bar method is it! That being said the new studio in Roslyn is absolutely amazing! It is bright and beautiful and extremely clean. The staff is extremely welcoming and knowledgable. The hands on adjustments and encouragement during the 60 minute class so you know your form is correct makes all the difference. The parking is convenient! It doesn't get better than this! Love this workout!!! I went with a friend and now I'm hooked. After two weeks I could see changes. The studio is brand new, modern and well staffed. The instructors are so helpful esp for a beginner like me. It's in the same building as Soul Cycle and I think it's the perfect compliment to spinning. Lengthen, stretching and serious toning.
