Haircut by Gustavo was GREAT - unfortunately you have to sit there and listen to the owner of the shop spew toxic republican talking points LOUDLY the entire haircut. Barbershops are supposed to be a safe haven and a spot for guests to chill, talk sports, watch tv maybe, and chat with their barbers and anyone else. Being put in a position where you have to sit there and listen to the dumbest talking points of all time (literally its like i was listening to a Facebook post from a 80 year republican who thought the AI video they watched last night was real). Its a real shame for the talented barbers there that they are going to lose business because the owner Savvy has to repeat these hateful words and talking points. Made an appt to be with Savy after I read reviews that she was good. Showed up and it was cool they offer free drinks. She didn't even know she had an appointment and just said was "behind" I said I'd wait but obviously she could care less and just pawned me off to a different barber. Worst cut I've ever had the back of my head is skinned. Had to ask the barber to cut a section of my hair that they completely forgot. Wanted to give this place a shot but definitely not coming back. Just give them your money it's worth it. Tip I'm sure it's always the time I come but now I just expect a 30 minute buffer last two times I been there they tend to spend more time on their customer to refine the cut and I get my cut usually 20 minutes from my appointment time. But when my haircut is completed they do so well I forget how long I waited. read more

Wanted to go with an angry one star because despite . receiving a confirmation the day before and the day of my haircut, when I showed up they were no where to be found. The person there called them, they said they were on the way, but 45 minutes later still hadn't arrived. Need to preface this by saying I left a good tip because it was a decent haircut. Probably won't be coming back since it's rather inattentive to cut someone's hair while wearing AirPods, this resulted in more than a few miscommunications. The haircut I got was fine but the beard trim especially did not match reference photo I gave. Also, it's my preference to be oriented toward the mirror rather than the TV playing trashy commercials. Ended up paying $90 for a haircut + beard trim which I could have gotten cheaper and probably better elsewhere. read more

Traumatic experience! Brenda Lopez, barber, was extremely rude, sprayed water on my eye (did not apologize), did not cut my hair the way I wanted (too short) and did not remove hair that was cut surrounding my shoulders. As soon as I came in, Brenda said "You are late! Take off your jacket and put your bag on that chair!" I was not late. I arrived around 2:12 PM. My appointment time was between 2 and 2:30 PM. I called the shop ahead of time to reschedule due to a car crash on the freeway. I communicated with Savy Ho (manager or owner) everything that happened, objectively. She refunded me the $60. Savy said it could have been a miscommunication due to the language barrier. I told Savy that I am a first-generation immigrant and understand what it is like to have difficulty speaking a foreign language. I went through the same experience. I have been living in the States for 20 years and I can unequivocally tell the difference between cruelty, rudeness, and language barrier issues. I was hoping to enjoy my time here, but I was unlucky to have Brenda Lopez. When The Barbershop opened in 2017, I was so excited that there was finally a professional barber only a few blocks from my apartment. Once I went for the first time after they opened, I was hooked. I haven't been to another barbershop since. Savy, the owner, is the best, and who I usually have cut my hair. She always takes her time, and makes sure I'm happy with everything before I leave. She also has a great team behind her that she's worked hard to put together. If Savy is booked (Which can be often because of her popularity), I trust her team will give me the same experience and satisfaction with my haircut. What I love most are the beers at check in, huge TVs to watch during my haircut (Usually with sports on), the straight edge shave, the hot towels at the end of each cut, and the friendly/caring atmosphere. I even brought my brother in recently, and he loved his whole experience with Olivia. He now says he needs to commute from San Jose to SF for his haircuts going forward. My first visit was a few months ago and Savvy cut my hair. It was a nice, short haircut and it grew out well considering that my hair has a number of colics. I just got another haircut recently and once again, my hair looks great. My hair is straight and fine, and this makes it a challenge to cut. Savvy is a lot of fun and great to talk to. Pretty trashy place. Asked if i wanted beer or whiskey and when I declined got sass about why I wasn't drinking (He saw me put my helmet down, I ride a motorcycle...). Repeatedly told I didn't need to wear a mask during my haircut. I told the barber (Julio) that I had a perm and not to use texture scissors, he did anyway because his English skills weren't very well developed and he didn't understand me. The fade he gave me was extremely poor quality--it really just looked like a zero buzz. After the haircut he pressured me to tip with cash or Venmo directly to him. Today I heard the worst and the most unprofessional hair cut experience with Jessy. Jessy is just inexperienced I told him to do exactly like the guy who was cutting beside me and he didn't . He made my hair so short that I couldn't even style myself Moreover, while we are having the hair cut Savy ( the barber shop owner) said said racists remarks regarding Syrian refugees in Germany walking around them makes her feel so uncomfortable because they saw a women's ankle. I am not only disappointed by the hair cut, but more importantly by how the owner carries her self around client saying something like that. Refugees are not bad people they just grew in places that is way less fortunate than were we grew up. Seeing one bad example from them doesn't mean the all Syrian refugees behave the same way Savy mentioned. read more

I've tried really hard to like this place since it's a block away from my apartment. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed each time and will not be going back. I can tell the owner really wants to run a legit shop but she does not have the right squad to do that. It seems like they are just trying to churn through customers, and they truly don't listen to you when you describe what you're looking for. Multiple times now I have walked away frustrated and not satisfied. I can understand if this was a $20-$30 haircut but the price compared to the job does not match. My barber was out of town so I tried a new place. What a mistake. This has to be the worst barbershop in San Francisco. I made an appt and arrived within five minutes of my appt. They had me wait for nearly an hour as they took multiple people in front of me with later appts. While I was there the owner got in an argument with a customer. It was ridiculous..... And the haircut sucked too.. it took nearly 45 minutes for a cut worse than my normal barber does normally in less than 20 minutes. Total joke...don't send your worst enemy.
