Its great to have a vegetarian restaurant in town! I love that I can eat everything on the menu. We got the burger and the special tamales. The burger was good. The tamales were probably the wrong thing to get as they were so spicy I could not eat them. My husband who likes spicy things even had trouble with them they were so spicy. Before the spice hit though you could tell the flavor was good. I'm sure it would have been even better in person, but they are offering take out right now with the COVID pandemic. I'm not fully Vegan but I eat gluten and dairy free and this place has a lot to offer for both Vegan and non vegans. The decor of the building and inside fits in perfectly with the location on Railroad square. The food is surprisingly tasty for vegab food. Staff is very friendly and it's a very welcoming atmosphere. My only negative is you dont get enough food for the price (well at least to me). I recommend the Brunch the most. read more

I got the beet burger with the aioli and the herb roasted potatoes. The burger was delicious! The potatoes were over salted though.

We ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich and a Beet burger topped with avocado and a side of Fried eggs for our baby Pomeranian. It is to die for! The food was plentiful and worth every single penny. They're cheaper compared to other places and I'm very happy with their flavor and portion size. They also hire very nice staff & offer a relaxing atmosphere to eat/drink as late as 2am some days. Been here a few times now. The food is always delicious, and if you are looking for meat/dairy free options this is one of the best spots to go. This is an excellent local owned restaurant and the food they make is creative. Aside from food, this location is also a good place to get a beer and enjoy the atmosphere. They occasionally have live music, and they have board games and a pool table. I highly recommend coming here if you haven't, even if you're not into the idea of meat and dairy free food. I've been meaning to check this place out for a while and now I really regret that we haven't come here sooner! Today we stopped in for brunch. I had the vegan biscuit bowl, my husband got the tofu bahn mi, and kid 1 got the eggs in a hole sandwich. Everything was excellent. The gravy in vegan biscuit bowl was outstanding, and the veggie combo in there was super flavorful. Husband loved the bahn mi, and especially liked how crispy the tofu was. Kid 1 is not normally a fan of wheat bread but he agreed to give it a try since it's all they had - and made in house - and he said it was the best wheat bread he ever had. Kid 2 shared some of our food and enjoyed it all. The servers were really friendly and helpful, and it was comfortable being there with young kids. We'll be back for sure! read more

They used to be called the Bread and Roses Kitchen but they moved and got bigger. Its the same great people and the same super vegetarian food but weirdly, the new parking lot is just as sketchy. The Bahn Mi is still the greatest vegetarian sammich on Earth and they make. They use baked tofu instead of meat on a crunchy roll with slaw and cucumbers and jalapenos and love. Its sooooooo good. The sammich is so delicious that they had a three color lithograph hanging up at the old location the advertised the sammich so I bought to hang in my house. Its such a great sammich that it inspires art to get made. They have live music on the weekends and there's a zine library and board games. Its like a clubhouse with great snacks. I had a seitan bahn mi. It was all the right flavors and textures and just all around perfect. Even the bread used was perfect. It's a quirky spot though. When I was there it was a slow night. A barefoot man in a chicken costume (no exaggeration here) twirled a baton and danced while his friends laughed in his creativity and comedic timing as I ate my sandwich. I'm not a vegan, nor a vegetarian. In fact, you can probably catch me at Chick-fil-A or cooking myself chicken tacos with plenty of cheese and sour cream. However, I spent the weekend trying out vegan restaurants with a friend who is vegan and I am extremely impressed and feel like I could be a vegan if I ever had the skills to cook this well or creatively. I had the biscuit bowl and it was absolutely delicious. I've never liked any vegetables, yet here I was absolutely enjoying every bite of my meal. The silver lining of the end of Bread & Roses is The Bark. An incredible place for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. My favorite place to grab a sandwich (and maybe a beer) on my lunch break, or get late night food and drinks. Seriously, where else can you get vegan food that's not Taco Bell at 1 am? Did I mention the full bar, or the daily/brunch specials complete with vegan bloody marys??? It's not pretentious or overpriced, and they're super community oriented. With vegan spots being scarce it is refreshing to go to a place such as this. The food is good especially the black bean burger Joesefina. Besides food it regularly has performances from local talent adding to its local flare. My only issue is the price of drinks. They do not fit my college budget. I just met a friend there for lunch for my first visit to The Bark. I was in love with the atmosphere and the friendliness of the woman who took our order. I may not be vegetarian or vegan but this place is so good that it keeps me coming back.

I am a vegan. My friends are not. We all enjoyed our food. Three of us, myself included, got the buffalo tofu sandwich and we all loved it. My significant other got a grilled cheese, but he liked my buffalo tofu so much he wished he had gotten that instead. The bread they use is a baguette and it is so fluffy and amazing and perfect for sandwiches. I also had their ginger lemonade and it was perfect, not too sweet and not too sour and the perfect hint of ginger. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. They also have board games and card games for guests to play. Parking was difficult but we were able to find parking a short walk away. I cannot wait to go again soon. read more

I LOVE THE BARK! The food is fantastic and service is amazing. My friend and I come religiously every weekend to enjoy great vegan food and a fun atmosphere. Not only is The Bark delicious, they also host fun events. Some memorable ones include Emo Night and Goth Night, both of which I attended. Both were a great experience, one having a live band.
