I am incredibly disappointed, angry, and frustrated with the staff at The Barn. We were treated with complete disrespect by our waitress and the hostess. I made a reservation for my friends and I last Thursday to eat and line dance at The Barn. As soon as we arrive, the hostess confirms we were there to eat entrees and we laughed it off because of course we were there to eat. Immediately our waitress greets us with entitlement, hostility, and clear agism because we are young adults. She makes it clear that we must individually order entrees and not appetizers in order to keep our table and avoid paying the cover fee of 5 dollars each, despite the table next to us sharing 1 meal between 3 people. After receiving our food the waitress neglected us and barely checked on our table and only filled our water once. In addition, we weren't allowed water refills after 8:00 pm. After receiving the bill there was an extra $25 charge for the cover fee that the waitress said would not be included if we ordered entrees (which we each did). I attempted to speak to the waitress to clear up the confusion but she said anyone who comes in after 8:00 (our reservation was at 7:30) has to pay the cover fee, contradicting what she said earlier. My friends and I have been loyal customers for over 2 years but as time has gone on The Barn's service has become rude and unwelcoming. Went back after two years and dinner was a mixed bag. The dining room wasn't full, but they took forever to get our food and drinks out, like really, really long. The Caesar salad with prosciutto (two mingy fried pieces of the stuff) was kind of gimmicky, but tasted OK, if a bit overdressed. At $18 it was also huge, more than enough for 4 people; they were stingy with the croutons, too. They brought out the salad and entree out at the same time, a real no-no. When I finally got our server's attention and had her take the steak back to the kitchen so we could eat our salad. Big lapse... The NY strip was cooked on point and generous, and the demi glace and sauteed 'shrooms were tasty as well. The mashed were just fine, too, but everything just took too darn long to get to us. Wine pours by the glass are still generous, my lady really liked her Lemon Drop, and the stemware is Riedel, a nice touch. Some manager isn't doing "their" job, as the service was really, really slow. Our server was really nice so I don't really want to dwell on this too much, but although our food was tasty the service and attention were spotty. Well ran into an old employee of The Barn at another bar & told him about by my last experience and that I don't care to return. He is still very much friends with a lot of current and previous employees. And explained the very large turn around of employees and why they can't keep people. Allegedly the wife of owner is very abusive towards employees and there is a LOT of talk about it on Ramona's Facebook & neighborhood APPS. That explained a lot ! I think 3 Stars is fair for this establishment. The service was top notch unlike what many of the reviewers complained about. I received more sodas than I could count which was awesome. Again, very good service. I ordered the Western burger which was tasty, but my wife got the salmon which wasn't cooked the way she expected. The fish was fresh but not marinated in the way she expected. Also, she requested a substitution of the side from mashed potatoes to finger potatoes and was charged $3. When the bill came out she wished she had ordered the mashed potatoes as the finger potatoes weren't worth the extra $. I kind of mentioned it and was basically told that's the way it was. Although the service was phenomenal I don't think we'd come back due to the extra charge for substituting a side. From the minute we walked in we thought we were in an episode of "bar rescue"! The place itself has great potential. The good: Nice interior design. Food/drink/music/dancing capabilities. Off street parking. Now the bad: The staff of young girls that we encountered, especially the hostess, was either confused or could not adequately articulate the layout of the place. Evidently you have to pay for entry if you want to watch the band or was it the dance lessons, but not if you want to eat? But if you want to have a drink in a back room lounge you don't have to pay entry? We came in to see the band, but wanted to have a drink also so the hostess didn't know what to do with us. When we went in to the front bar to get a drink we were informed that we needed a wrist band by the not so friendly bartender. What? After driving almost an hour to get there and having an extensive back and forth with the hostess who made no sense to either of us we left, or attempted to...but our friend convinced us to stay. When we went back and sat at the bar the owner came up to us and asked us about the problem. When my girlfriend tried to politely explain (yes, politely) the owner became argumentative. Really, dude? Not the way to handle the situation. We finished our one watered down (yes, that's right) drink and got the hell out. I'll be frank. I hope this place makes it. It has enormous potential. But after the encounter with the owner it's apparent that, as they say, shit flows down hill. He really needs to hire someone experienced to run it or the place is going to be shuttered within a year. Honestly, best of luck... but in its current state it deserves to fail. read more

My new favorite dessert in Ramona is the Bread Pudding at The Barn! It was the perfect consistency and not overly sweet. Soft, supple center with properly caramelized edges and hot throughout. Best part was NO raisins! It was a nice sized portion for two to share. Highly recommended. read more

We had wanted to try this place for a while. We were there at 6pm on a Thursday and were seated right away. The place was quiet and we were greeted immediately by our server. We ordered the lamb lollipops and calamari. Both were good. When we got our dinner, a very large group was seated next to us and they just let the kids run around and yell as if it was a playground. We could hardly hear ourselves talk to each other at our table. For meals we ordered half rack of ribs, top sirloin steaks. My steak was overcooked (ordered medium) but my daughters was cooked perfectly. The ribs were tasty but we needed a side of bbq sauce. We also ordered the hazelnut cheesecake for desert. It def didn't taste like hazelnut, more like chocolate. It was very rich and lacked the cheese taste of a cheesecake. Overall, the dinner was ok. We may be back to try our luck again. read more

We'd never eaten here so on 7/28/25 we decided to try it. I asked what was in the burger sauce the restaurant made. She didn't know but if I wanted her to, she'd ask. I said no, it was okay. My sis-in-law asked what spring mix was that was going to be on her chicken sandwich. Again, the waitress didn't know what that was. My SIL asked if she could find out. The waitress turned and as she walked away, she rolled her eyes. She returned and gave a brief description. We ordered. I asked for thousand island dressing instead of BBQ sauce. She brought some of our food and before she left, I asked for a side of thousand island. She said, "They put some on your burger". I told her I dip my fries in it that's why I wanted a side. We got the rest of our food our food and a couple of minutes later, we called her over because my niece didn't get the asparagus she ordered. The waitress said she forgot to ask for it but if my niece wanted her to, she'd go and bring it to her. My niece said, yes, she would like the asparagus. So I found my self back in Ramona visiting my parents. They are very Ramona proud and wanted to take us here. Very very well decorated place, super western Ramona themed. But the food. Ugh. Oysters, yes we ordered the oysters in a Ramona restaurant. They were shucked but not disconnected from the shell. Served with no oyster forks. So we're literally using BIG forks to try and disconnect them from the shell. Lame. The calamari was like fried rubber bands, we sent it back. Lamb chops were cooked well but the smallest cut of lamb. The charcuterie board was nothing special. I was especially taken back by the spoiled grapes served on it. French onion soup with a side of salt. Liquor drinks taste VERY watered down. The Ossobuco and plastic horses outside are the only reason you're getting 2 stars. I miss sizzler. read more

After a trip to Mt Palomar my wife and I stopped for dinner at The Barn. The food was outstanding and very well priced. They spared no expense on atmosphere decor or staffing and we had a great time. The staff had great floor awareness and we had seemless service by 5 differant people at the right times. Will I drive 20 miles from home just to eat her again? No doubt. FYI, they have a large stage for weekend bands and a nice size dance floor. I always wanted to learn how to line dance - maybe now is the time. read more

Arguably the worst place i've been to, to line dance. They treat their costumers (that pay the cover fee) that are just here to dance like animals. They have designated "standing room only" to the line dancers which isn't ideal but it's fine. Tonight however things were different. You're now not allowed to stand in the standing room only area!!! You are forced to be on the dance floor the whole time no matter what. Even when being a paying costumer for food now your whole entire party must order something and it can't just be one shared thing AND you have to PAY for WATER now!!! They don't even pour water in glasses anymore..... it goes straight on your table in a bottle. But you also can't bring in your own water even if you have low blood sugar and need your special water they don't care they make you walk outside to your car to get it. This place used to be great and now has severely gone downhill. Mismanagement, employees look like they don't want to be here and they don't treat anyone kind here. Constantly yelling at people. Could have been better, way better! Hit or miss depending on what you order. The flavors and seasoning were great but man if it wasn't over cooked. Classic burger was so burnt that even though you could taste a good burger begging to be there it was gone and what was left was a charred disk of death. The rack of ribs, again had a great flavor, great sauce and would have been top notch if not for being literally dried out, dehydrated into a burnt husk. The ribs were burnt so bad that it was a brutal task just getting through them. The sirloin although small was excellent, great flavor, medium rare, done to perfection. Perhaps the cook hates ribs, but loves steaks? Maybe its two different cooks, to which I say the pyro cook needs to chill. Maybe there's a vegan cook back there just laying into the ribs and burgers? The lobster ravioli was really good, the Alfredo with chicken was good. Also service was good she was really nice, but we did order appetizers that never materialized, we got the plates and napkins but the calamari just never showed. Was not on the bill either... All and all it was good when not burnt, not great, some plates are too expensive ($42 rib-eye) others are fair, service is good and the atmosphere was great. Was there over the weekend and waited for a steak for over a half hour, seems like they went out to find a cow and butcher it to make my steak, the service was just absolutely slow, there wasn't much of a crowd on a Saturday, the band that was there played pretty good, but I wondered why there wasn't enough people there, ambiance could be better but guess they'll have to improve their service first, I had to drink water because my waitress didn't ask if I wanted anything from their fully stocked bar, it's a shame cause I was really thirsty too, don't know if I'd go back anytime soon so I'll give it a few months and check to see if their service has changed, all I can say at this point is good luck to you if you eat there read more
