Finally I don't have to go back to the east coast for this morsel. I was walking around, and saw the sign the calls out fresh lobster rolls. Now when I was stationed in the east coast, I ate a lot of lobster rolls. I even got the McLobster roll when in season. You get the feeling I like seafood? So for the sake of my tastebuds being happy I went downstairs to Plaza Grill. Now I was torn between getting a lobster roll or sushi. Sushi?!?!? Remember I was determined to find good sushi in California. Spicy king crab roll or a lucky dragon roll both sounded good. The server asked what I would like and I told her I was torn between the two choices. When she found out where I was from, she immediately suggested lobster roll. It seems that the regular sushi chef was out and they had a newbie. Moving along while waiting for my meal, the complimentary waffle chips and sour cream dip came. These chips were warm, just the right touch of salt, and great crunch. I wish all the restaurants serve this. I even asked for another basket because they are that good. Finally the sandwich comes and my eyes lite up and my jaw drops. This thing is overflowing with meat. The roll is huge in weight and later found out huge in taste. I mean you would have to unhinge your jaw to get around this monster. The bread was a nice vessel to surround the meat. Buttered, toasted and soft, the visual appeal was a great contrast to the vibrant red lobster. I didn't want to eat it, I wants to frame this work of art. But duty calls. There was more mayonnaise then I like but it didn't matter too much because you needed all the mayo to clump the meat together. It's a good thing I had a fork to pick up all the meat that escaped from the bread. And I mean a lot of meat ended up on the plate. I didn't care about the side order of coleslaw. I just can't rave enough on the lobster. If you are in Barona, you can gamble on getting the lobster roll and be an automatic winner. Overall five solid white stars. What solid white stars!?!? Even with the lackluster coleslaw, the complimentary chips and way overstuffed roll trumps that slight mistake easily. This spot is pretty small and fairly hidden from the main floor of the casino. It's not so busy and bustling from all the people upstairs going crazy for the lobster deals. You seat yourself and get served. It took all 3 of the waiters about 8 minutes to even get us a menu much less greet us. I told the waitress that I just wanted a lobster roll to go. Cool chill. The lady brings my bill and it takes yet another almost 10 minutes to just get the bill picked up? They didn't ask if we wanted anything else or any water which is whatever but still yet to have any of the other waitresses just check in on us. The whole restaurant wasn't busy or full of tons of orders. Even the sushi chef behind the counter was just chilling. When we were leaving we had coffee we brought in from upstairs but the security lady demanded that we had to either finish our half full coffees or toss it which I thought was ridiculous considering they only had beer and wine?? Regardless we just tossed them and left. The lobster roll was pretty good although there was a lot of sauce. It came with a side of fries and a slice of a dill pickle. The food itself was definitely worth $15 though very delicious! I came here with a friend and the service was absolutely outstanding! We sat ourselves down wanting to have a drink and seconds later we were greeted by a server. Cesar and Jesus both helped us and they were so delightful. They were extremely nice and attentive to our needs even though it was very busy! I ordered the chicken strips and it was very good. I wasnt a big fan of the potato chips and dip...I think tortilla chips and salsa would be better, but that's ok.The margarita I ordered was extremely sweet. Where was the liquor at? Haha. I loved the glass it came in though. They were huge. But then again, maybe that's why it tasted like mostly margarita mix! I'd highly recommend coming here for a bite when you visit Barona! So this review is a little on the weird side, but here it goes. We decided to eat and have drinks at plaza grill so we didn't have to wait for the buffet and be over stuffed. When I mean "we," I'm referring to myself and one of my closest girlfriends. We grabbed some margaritas on the rocks, which were delicious and huge! Pretty decent for around $8 a pop. We agreed on a couple sushi rolls, which were surprisingly amazing. I was honestly not expecting anything that good for whatever reason. The rolls were pretty large in size, the fish was fresh and cut not too thin. The prices were pretty reasonable and varied from $8-$14 per roll, which was worth it. Here is where it got awkward and the low stars come into play. For one, we literally had to flag our server each time because he would get lost behind the sushi bar watching the football game. I get it, but come on. While we were enjoying our drinks one of the servers (who was not assigned to our table, decides to barge in the middle of our conversation and says something in the lines of "oh hey so I'm from Alaska and we don't really get "cholas" where I'm from so can I take a picture with you?" I didn't think it was funny at all. He kept insisting and started laughing when I said "are you serious right now? No and please leave." That's when he says "oh I'm kidding I'm not really from Alaska I'm from here." After I roll my eyes at him he leaves. A few minutes later, I get up to use the restroom and apparently he uses that opportunity to come up to my friend and tell her that the reason he wanted a picture was to show his lesbian sister because we were like her. So he was assuming we were a lesbian couple and wanted to use it as a laugh. I felt so disrespected because if we were a lesbian couple he would pretty much be harassing and humiliating us, treating it like we were some type of circus. He still laughed and when my friend told him he was messing with the wrong b**** he quickly left. That wasn't the end of it. He still kept harassing me for a picture for a 3rd time. I got really annoyed and bothered so I immediately went to speak to one of the managers and explained the situation. The manager then spoke to the manager of the restaurant. He was quick to apologize and did say he would be speaking to that particular staff member. I feel like no individual should feel harassed or made fun of, especially at a place like this. Hopefully people who are really LGBTQ don't get an experience like this l while dining there, because no one deserves to be made fun of or treated like some type of circus. read more

I ventured out from my beloved Sage Cafe and gave this place a visit for dinner... It was a Saturday night and the casino was busy so I expected a wait. We walked up and saw the "Please Seat Yourself" sign and so we did. The only two available seats were at the bar, with a clear view of the fryers. O_o (all I'm saying is I saw bags and bags of frozen something being put in the freezer) Ok, so we were greeted and brought menus, and whoa, they serve the most random mix of meals here. Him ordered two rolls; a shrimp tempura and a Cali roll, both were surprisingly good. I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich with chips. The sandwich itself was a'ight, but the turkey was really good and there was lots of it. I had to ask for my chips halfway through my sammich though. And when our waitress asked another waiter to bring us our chips, he took them to another couple at the bar, booo! When I finally got to try them, I'm almost sorry I did... My boyfriend and I visited this establishment last night. We were quickly greeted with onion dip and waffle chips upon arrival from Jesus. He was not our server, but I wish he had been. He is SO personable and friendly every time we come! It took about 10 minutes for us to get our drink order taken. I think our waiter, Jose, might have been new. He was extremely quiet and took a while to get things moving. However, I dont like to base my review on service-- going to a restaurant is about FOOD after all!! I ordered a calzone and truffle fries. Both of these dishes were FANTASTIC. I hadn't ever had a calzone from downstairs but it was very hot and fresh. 5/5 My boyfriend ordered a reuben, which he said was very good. 5/5 He also ordered a margarita, which is normally good, but tasted like way too much mix and not enough liquor. Unfortunately, this results in it being too sweet. This place gives very hefty portions, which is appreciated. All in all, this place has all the choices you could ever want, no matter what kind of cuisine you're in the mood for. This spot is a little gem. They get 5 starts just for the amazing house ruffle like chips. They are warm and fresh, and come with a tasty dip. Once I need a break from gambling I head down to this spot order a few coronado orange wit and enjoy these delicia chips. It has plenty of space and it's a good spot to hang out and chat with your friends. I been there with a large group and we had a really good time. The staff is fast with the drink orders and super friendly. I've yet to try the food because in all honesty I just there to drink and eat my chips lol! read more

Plaza Grill is located on the lower level of Barona Casino, just past the buffet. Come in and seat yourself and a server will be right with you with your menus and take your drink orders. Here they serve all American food, as well as sushi. Also, if you're looking to have a few beers/ alcoholic beverages, you can do so here. You cannot bring alcohol drinks upstairs. For this particular visit, Monica helped us. At the time, most of the tables were taken so we sat at the bar instead, right in front of the sushi bar. Monica gave us our menus and took our drink orders, then came back to take our food orders. The service is great here! Monica was very attentive and did check on us to ensure everything was good. Christina was working at the sushi bar and she was great as well! I ordered the Clam Chowder bowl and it's big enough for two people. There are nice nice portions of potato and clams throughout so that every bite is full of goodness. This clam chowder is not as thick as other chowders I've had at other places, but it's not too bad. Overall, Plaza Grill has wonderful employees (just like the rest of Barona Casino). Come check them out! read more

I love it here! Everyone was super nice. You get complimentary popcorn shrimps as you sit down. They were a bit busy today so we didn't get served right away. Their manager Scott noticed and quickly came over take our order. All the servers were really friendly. Service is superb!! They have a full bar so you can pretty much order any cocktail/mixed drinks you want and all kinds of cold beer to choose. This place was very good....quick service ...a lot of tvs....and the food was very good ...recommend trying the clam chowder bread bowl.....only complaint or concern I have is that this is the only place at barona that serves alcohol and no its not what you think ...I don't wish more places there served alcohol. ...I wish they didn't either....wildcat canyon road has too man twists and turns to have people drink and then drive home on that road.....it's hard enough to drive that road sober......you guys did fine without the alcohol for many years...get rid of it.....some of you may disagree and that's fine ....I am not against drinking and having a good time.....but unless you are staying in the hotel you will be driving towards Ramona or Lakeside and we don't need your drunk ass on the road endangering our kids and family and friends that use this road daily....I have seen it happen. read more

We frequent Barona a lot but never have we dined at the grill. Service is prompt, inviting and attentive. The environment is sports bar, casual. The food reflects the atmosphere, burgers, sandwiches, salads and oddly sushi. Full bar is great. So we What we encountered is something I would never expect in a Casino restaurant or a public restaurant, EVER.. My wife and I were subjected to a very erratic patron babbling expletives roaming around the cafe floor. He positioned himself next to our table and proceed to continue his senseless speech. After complaining about the man, standing over our table we left. This was improper public behavior that was allowed to persist for over 15 min. You'd think security would be all over this. Not a pleasant experience. Definitely brings the positive dining at Barona down. Sadly, I'd think twice about coming back. read more

This is an mature cafe of city, I know this because my grandmother speaks of arriving here after she used to go rectangle dancing and it has been quite a few decades since she has been anywhere near a oasis. The position itself reveals its age with the decorations and colour job but it was overall a excellent cusine encounter. The employees was helpful and offered excellent support. I observed them contact one several by name which reveals that they do get some regulars. I requested the cookies and gravy, the cookies were a little challenging like they had been seated under a warming light for a while but I have had more intense. My partner's egg, bread, and hotcakes seemed better. I would eat here again but it won't become one of my frequent stomping reasons. read more

The Plaza at Barona was amazing. Its one of the only restaurants in the Casino that has TVs and this was crucial since we were trying to watch the Lakers take down the Suns in the final game of the Western Championships. Woo! Anyway, upon arrival we were starving and were immediately served with complimentary popcorn shrimp, they must have read our minds! Next, the waitress came over and was so patient with us since apparently we were picky bitch mode. We ended up getting the 3 Card Poker sushi roll, the Spicy King Crab roll, a wedge salad and clam chowder in a bread bowl. It was all tasty and just what we needed to fill us for a night out on the town! To top it off, since my friend works there, she getes as discount and all of that food only cost us $20! Unbeatable. Ate here the other night & it was the worst $60 I've spent on food in a looong time. Calling this food is a disservice... more like low grade dog food (I don't like being this harsh in a review, but it was truly disgusting food). All the food we got (chips & dip, potato soup & the "hot" lobster roll) was luke warm at best & the cheese dip for the chips already had a ¼" hardened film over the top. My wife was able to choke down the soup w/ some hot sauce. The lobster roll was HOOOOORIBLE. A McRoll would be considered gourmet to this. Too fishy tasting, barely warm, too dry & mixed with nothing good tasting. The "roll" was nothing more than cold Texas toast like it was fried for a grilled cheese, but used as the roll. I just couldn't stomach it & left all but a bite... same w/ the chips & dip. My wife's martini tasted like something served from 7-11 w/ no alcohol. The ONLY good thing was the beer, which was bottled far from here. Basically $60 for crappy soup, a crappy martini & a bottled beer. read more

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service, the food, and the reasonable prices. I like that you can order small sizes of certain dishes which allows you to try two different entrees. This is a particularly nice treat since the restaurant choices in Ramona are limited at best, so having this restaurant just 10 minutes away is really awesome! read more

Just got back from eating at this new restaurant in the Barona Casino and Resort. We were excited to finally eat at this establishment since it was on hold for a long time. The rumor is that they were finalizing issues with the ABC (alcohol beverage control) to get their liquor license. Our expectation was that they would have a full sushi bar since it is prominent when you first walk up to it but it turns out that they have a limited selection. They offered the basic nigiri sushi and a generous offering of rolls. Otherwise, they include other seafood dishes including clams, mussels, salads, soups, and raw oysters. I wasn't blown away with the food but it was good. The atmosphere is very casual and clean. The service was a little clumsy given that it was only their 3rd day of operation. Hopefully they work out the kinks in the future. They don't offer any asian beers which was strange since they served sushi. We visit the resort quite often and are very excited that there are new food choices. We look forward to trying the new Italian restaurant (Italian Cucina) and the redesigned steakhouse. Barona has always exceeded our expectations when it comes to dining so I'm sure they will iron out all the kinks. We will definitely try it again. Parking is free. read more

Come with family! The crab legs are sweet, fresh and delicious. The BBQ station was great. The brisket is the best there. The salad bar was awesome as well. The coconut shrimp in the Seafood section was very tasty as well. Best buffet in San Diego (for Indian reservations) and you can bring your kids here. read more

We went here to meet a few friends for Dinner at the Barona Buffet. We arrived a little early so we started exploring the place in hopes to find a cocktail! Down a flight of stairs a bit hidden away, we ran right into the Plaza. Cute sushi bar set up besides a full service bar - YES!! We sat down at one of the regular tables set up in front of the bar areas & promptly received complimentary chips (Fresh - house made!) and some sort of amazing dip. We wet the whistles, happy to have drinks in hand & ordered Jalapeno Poppers to snack on & try not to ruin the appetite for the buffet. WRONG !!! Not only did we receive about 10 or 12 poppers, but these suckers were HUGE! And they were delicious, perfect amount of creaminess to the spice of the pepper. A very nice dining addition to the Barona Casino casino and hotel. The last time I was at Barona the only seafood option was the steakhouse, which comes with a hefty price tag. The Plaza is the way to go for shrimp cocktails and steamers. Went around 8 PM on a Saturday, wasn't crowded at all. They do serve asian beers now (Asahi, from what I saw). They provide complementary popcorn shrimp which can be a meal in itself. My husband and I were not too hungry so we split two appetizers - the shrimp cocktail and mussels and clams steamers. We were amazed with the quantity in both portions! The shrimp cocktail came with 5 big shrimp and the steamers were overflowing with clams and mussels, as well as crusty bread for dipping into the nicely flavored white wine and garlic broth. Both were in the range of $6, a real steal compared to the chaos the slots had wreaked on our wallets. Service was so-so. With drinks and tip, the bill came out to around $40.
