Located right behind Oscar's Pub. This a place you go to if you want to escape the hustle and bustle from a smoky pub. The decor and ambience are just perfect. The music in the background is not over powering your conversation. It was stormy night when we stumbled upon this place there wasn't anybody there except for Kim and Victor. Absolutely refreshing. Very well done, lounge atmosphere. Excellent lighting, a mix of mid-century modern and trendy seating and decor. The fireplace is lovely on a chilly night. It's exactly what hubby and I have been craving since we moved to FW. The dive bars (every-freaking-where) are fine, but this is a needed gem! I think they are pretty new, located in the basement of Oscar's Pub, but they do have their own street level entrance. You can tell they put some love into the place, and really care if it succeeds. Stay away from this establishment!! The new help they have is very racist and rude. As polite and patient as we were, he still raced to serve others before us even though we were waiting way before them. He even told us we would be next and still waited on the table that came 20 minutes after us. When we explained that first come first serve, whichever tickets goes in first is served first. He said that's because they were getting beer or champagne. At least give us the option and maybe we wouldn't opt for a mix drink. This makes no sense, learn to operate a bar and attend to the customers in order. We own several of businesses across dfw and treat all our customers with respect. Anyways, the guy got upset and hung up the phone when we later asked him about the mistreatment. Can't get upset with him, because it starts with the head and obviously the head must approves of this behavior. No longer will I patronize this business nor will the numerous customers of mines that I have sent there. I see why all the good bartenders left!! read more

Upon entering The Basement Lounge (once you FIND out how to get into the place) you know you have found an adult gem buried down here. The Decor is trendy, yet classy with cozy little seating areas and a welcoming bar. The bartender was so fun and the owner took the time to chit chat! I just loved how it felt so cozy and sexy! The music wasn't my favorite, but they played a few songs just for me since it was my special day! I can't wait to visit again and chill. I first came into this place on a slow Sunday night. Jesse, one of the co-owners was there and I spoke to him at length, getting the inside scoop on the mission of the Basement Lounge. The co-owners came together, a group of friends who had little to no experience in the hospitality industry, and decided they were sick of the bars that were typical of Fort Worth. They longed for a place that skipped booming music, sports, and smoking. They wanted an establishment that had class. They wanted a place to foster good conversation over artfully made drinks. The result of of this labor of love is a bar that is unique in Fort Worth, but would not be out of place in an upscale hotel in downtown Dallas, or perhaps even Manhattan. In short, the Basement Lounge is the antithesis of your Stockyards-style dive bars. There's no pool table; there's a fireplace. There are no bartenders; there are mixologists. There's no smoking inside. There is a TV, but it only plays high-concept art videos set to cool, sometimes upbeat music. The place is cozy, on the order of 700 square feet of floor space. There's a main room with the bar, and a far cozier space in back with a couch and a few chairs. Furniture is minimalist, but well coordinated. Despite the limited space, the place is never too packed. There's always plenty of room to move, and it never manages to be too loud to talk at normal levels and be heard. There is no dress code, but you won't look out of place with a nice pair of slacks and a blazer here. Behind the bar there's a full spectrum of bitters, not just the typical angostura, as well as a number of interesting liquors. The black cherry Manhattan is a darling, and Matt the head mixologist burns orange oils into the drink making for a nice visual show as well as a wonderful cocktail. Cocktails start at $10, and every cocktail is hand made. This can cause a backlog on busy nights, but they have been staffing better and the cocktails are worth the wait besides. They keep typically busy on weekends, with show-goers coming from the Symphony being a staple component of their clientele. It's worth noting that they are very LGBT friendly here. This is a great place to show off to your boss or a date. The drinks are familiar but still unique and finely crafted. Decor is not quite as interesting as Thompson's, but with a minimalist goal that's kind of the point. The owners and mixologists are friendly and always down to talk if you wander in here by yourself, as I did; And they're happy to have you if you stay late. read more

This place is super tiny but chill lounge has a great ambience. I especially can appreciate the small corner of comfy chairs with pillows next to a beautiful fireplace. So if you're like me and Snapchat your life then this is the place to be. The bartender Matt knows his stuff so I challenged you to go and challenge him. My personal favorite is a champagne drink that he mixes with honey and Bacardi...yummy! Of course with all that alcohol flowing you might get hungry. Tiny bar. Tiny bar with terrific bartenders. Not even sure bartender is the correct word... These guys were crafting an old fashioned with such pinache! Not sure if it was liquid nitrogen or just dry ice but the thing was smokin and looked so frickin cool. I just had a beer. After telling the crafter of cocktails what kind of beers I liked, he served me up a ? Cannot recall what canned beer was placed before me. And while it was decent, certainly drinkable..I do not normally pay $7 for a 12 ounce CAN of beer. Next time I'm with a date who just got paid, maybe I will try one of their fancy drinks. This one requires a bit of explaining. First things first- it's kind of hard to find, but it's worth it. I love a good bar where I don't have to shout over the music and I'm not freezing. When I planned this review in my head, it was a solid three stars because I couldn't get the bartender's attention for a good thirty minutes and I was sure that the Blood and Honey I was drinking had cost me at least $8, but I wanted another one anyway because it was a Thursday night and I was taking the next day off of work. The birthday party taking place in the small room off the main area seemed to be taking the attention away from the two people working, and that was to my slight annoyance. Finally, my friend and I were able to order our drinks, and then some ice waters. When we ordered the water, a guy came over and with a carafe and sat down to talk to us. That's when I asked if he happened to be the co-owner, Jesse. And that's what gets this review four stars. He was genuinely kind, interested in why we were there and in having us return. He told us about some of the events the venue does, and he wasn't just trying to solicit business. I was really touched by that, and my cold, dead heart was warmed. This Basement is a great place to go if you want to just sit and talk. The music is not overbearing. It's like sitting in your living room. There are paintings on the wall that were done by Texas artists. If you like them, you can purchase them via PayPal from the artist. The owner Jesse was friendly and introduced us to the mixologist, Ian. Ian sat with us and asked us what type of drinks we alcohol and flavors we liked then he went and mixed up a couple of drinks, which were fabulous. We will definitely be going back here.
