    BLT and tomato soup

I loved the moodiness of this restaurant especially bc it was raining and created an entire vibe. I shared a BLT, tomato soup, and Mac n cheese with my mom and I really enjoyed all of it. I never really expect Mac n cheese to be exceptional at restaurants but this one was REALLY good. The server was so sweet and did a great job taking care of all of us with all of our requests. I recommend if you're on Mass street and visiting Lawerence!

Four of us came into have a late lunch on a Saturday. We were sat quickly and out waiter Austin was Amazing. He checked on us regularly, was very helpful with menu suggestions and to get us anything that was needed. The Place was not super busy however it took over 40 min for our food to arrive at the table. Food looked amazing however had absolutely NO seasoning. All four of our dishes were all just bland, nothing stood out or even had that restaurant flare or flavoring. The dining area itself was a cute cafe feel to in with a full bar.

We've loved basil leaf ever since their location on 9th street! Service was great and they were accommodating to having our dog on the patio. Inside is always clean with minimalist decor but this time we sat on the patio. We made it to happy hour and got the cocktail of the day (strawberry rose lemonade with vodka), rosé sangria, and meatballs to start off. Our entrees were served soon after. Portions are always large and filling with some leftovers! Although we enjoy the menu, we miss the lemon fried chicken with mashed potatoes from a few years back!!

No complaints about service. The food however was very disappointing. We will not be returning.

Needless to say I will be wearing out the Turnpike making return visits to this real gem.

We got six flavors to try and here's our ratings (refer to photo). Pandan Coconut - 10/10, our fav by a long shot!!!! Bavarian - 6.5/10, needed a bit more flavor but we loved the creaminess. Strawberry Rhubarb - 6/10 (I liked it more than my partner but he's not a big strawberry fan, worth trying for sure!!). Everything Donut - 7/10, a little in the salty side but fun to try for sure!! Classic Cinnamon - 7/10, light, fluffy and airy. Nutella - 4/10, the Nutella was super thick inside this so you have to strategically plan your bites so you're getting and even amount of donut to Nutella ratio, my first bite was like eating a big spoonful of peanut butter, obviously tasty tho Nutella is delish. We would definitely come back!! Getting two coconut next time though!

I arrived at 6.45 am and there were already around 60+ people waiting on a Friday morning .. crazy right.. I heard Saturdays are even worse lol. Finally got to enter the shop at 8.15 am and picked up 6 donuts. I think they rotate flavors often or have one new flavor every week, so the ones I got were Bavarian, Blood orange raspberry, Pandan coconut, Biscoff cream and Hot honey pimento cheese. Honestly after taking a bite from each one, the wait time, the hype, all those viral reels actually made soo much sense haha. The donuts are packed with cream but still feel so light and airy, almost feels like biting into a cloud cake. If I had to pick favorites then it would be the Spicy pimento cheese and the Bavarian. The bakery is open Fridays and Saturdays, Fridays starting at 8 AM and Saturdays from 9 AM and the donuts sell out by 10 am. I also heard the owner mention they might open Thursdays soon!!! Each donut is around $5 plus, and I didn't really mind paying that much because the quality is top notch. I even saw the owners chatting with people in line which was nice, they seemed pretty friendly. Loved the ambience inside the shop too, especially the huge white hanging lanterns and how clean and simple the space felt. Overall, these donuts are a hitttt. If you're planning to go early morning, try to get in line by 6:30 AM or at least by 7 AM. If you do end up after the store opens, just know the line gets really long and there's a chance you might miss out. Good Luck!

This includes of course the history of Lawrence and how influential this building has been over time. Since I've been in Lawrence (which is about 10 years now which is so nuts) this has been Merchants. I love Merchants. It's consistently (to me) a top 3 restaurant on Mass St. The food is high quality. The service is high quality. The chefs table is a vibe (idk if they still have it but they did a few years ago). Anyway, the duck and dumplings was so comforting. It was the perfect ratio of duck to dumpling to vegetable to broth. The bison burger always slaps and the fries are so yummy. Dare I say they have the best burger in town? Also you guys have the BEST Diet Coke. So good and crispy. I love you Merchants! The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.
