For the price this was a great hotel. The rooms were renovated and had a great look and feel to them. The beach was great and the bar between the beach and hotel was very nice and furnished if you wanted to relax at night and have a drink looking into the sunset. First, the good: * Great location right on beautiful St. Pete Beach * Clean, fairly spacious rooms * 2 pools, including 1 which is adults-only * HUGE, open bar/restaurant, right on the sand with live entertainment from late-morning through late-night * Friendly, helpful staff * Friendly atmosphere around the family pool * Lots of rafts, pool noodles and toys for use at the family pool * Affordable rates make this a really good value Now, the bad: * Because this is so affordable, there was quite a bit of 1-star behavior at the family pool. Among the things we witnessed, repeatedly: - VERY drunk groups being over served more booze - People eating and smoking IN the family pool! Not in their chair near the pool. Not on the side of the pool with feet dangling in the water. Actually standing IN the pool eating sandwiches and smoking cigarettes while a waitress served them. - VERY drunk people cursing, loudly, as if it was about to be banned forever. - No one did anything to curtail this behavior until several people made several complaints. * If you like to sleep, about half the hotel will drive you crazy because the band plays late into the night. If you want quiet, make sure you request a room in 200-210, 400-410. These are upstairs and in the front half of the property. Because they are upstairs, you don't get as many of the loud, drunks walking by at 2:00-3:00 a.m. on their way back from the bar. A good but older motel. Convenient location, with out the back beach access and a walk up bar and lobby bar. Great staff and super easy checkout are the good points but it's hard to recommend this place due to the parking situation. Limited spaces out front but the narrow lot at the side, means you might have to back up a hundred feet in an area only ten feet wide. There is an overflow lot across the road, behind 7-11. If you book this through Hotwire, there is an almost greyed out notice concerning nearly 30/day in Resort fees. This includes daily chair/ cabana. read more

I was very happy with my recent 3-night stay at the Beachcomber. Everything was great. If that's enough for you reading this, fine; you can stop here. If you want to know what's so good about The Beachbomer, read on. As soon as I walked into the lobby, I noticed everything was neat and clean. That turned out to be a theme during my stay; the place was spotless, everywhere. I was greeted by Hannah at the front desk, who was accommodating and efficient. Check-in was quick and easy. She reminded me not to put my room key near my cell phone. I have to admit it; in the past, I did that several times, the key failed to work, and I didn't know why until a different front desk clerk (this was in Colorado) told me how the magnetic charge on the key can be disrupted by the cell phone. I was upgraded to a junior suite, which was nice, but really meaningless to me. I was travelling alone, and I wasn't planning a party. The room was on the 2nd floor, nearer the street than the bar. This was a good thing, since I never heard any bar noise. Everybody I saw on the staff was friendly and helpful. Ava, the morning front desk clerk, told me how to navigate the trolley system and recommended good breakfast places nearby. At one point, I told her I couldn't get my TV to turn on. A repair technician was at my room before I got there. He straightened out the problem in two minutes. Even the housekeeping staff greeted me. "How you doing today, miss?" When I passed the technician the next day, he remembered me: "Everything working alright for you, miss?" Everything looked clean and smelled clean. I appreciated that there is a computer and printer available for guests; I printed out my boarding pass for my return trip without a hitch. There is a resort fee. I booked my vacation through the Southwest Airlines website. I saw right away that there would be an additional resort fee. I was not surprised or blindsided. The information was clear. There are two bars on site. I especially enjoyed Jimmy B's Beachfront Bar, because there were plenty of places for me to sit outdoors, look at the Gulf, and enjoy a couple drinks without worrying about driving home. If I have any complaints at all, it would be that the food menus at the two bars offered nothing but a $10 hummus and vegetables for us vegetarians. However, there are plenty of other restaurants within a few blocks, so I didn't go hungry. I'm a woman of simple needs. The Beachcombers was convenient, reasonably-priced, clean, staffed by friendly, helpful people; I got everything I needed. I recommend The Beachcomber, and I would stay there again. read more

The view that you get from a Beach Bar patio room that's also called a beachfront balcony room. No view of anything but buildings. You can't see the beach bar patio or see the beach. Floors were so dirty the day of arrival that we had to keep our shoes on or we'd feel weird bringing that dirt into the bed. AC unit old and looked like it was never cleaned. My wife and I went there during Christmas week, about 2 weeks ago, and checked out on 1/1. We had a great stay! First, this is NOT a fancy hotel. It is an old-style large-sized two story motel. Most of the rooms face a large "garden" courtyard, which is very nice. There are two pools on the beach end of this large courtyard area. Then they also have a small number of rooms that face the Gulf/beach. We had one of those rooms, on the first floor. Being that we were on the first floor we couldn't see the water or the beach, due to the large deck/bar, but we didn't mind that. The plus of these beach facing rooms is that they are the closest to the beach, but they are also the loudest rooms, most likely, since they're closest to the bands that perform from around 2pm to at least midnight. That really didn't cause a noise problem for us, even though my wife is not a great sleeper. I don't think the music kept her awake. The room and adjoining bathroom was definitely not fancy, but generally clean and nice. We were fine with it. This motel is definitely a happening place, with a lot of activity at the bar/deck area, which I thought was great. Some visitors might not like that if they're looking for serenity. Beach bar great. Overall, we'd definitely go back to the Beachcomber! read more

We recently came back...like yesterday. I would say that most of the comments here are valid. This hotel is run very much like a motel, and it is important to note that they share walkways/ sidewalks with the beach bar. If you like peace and quiet, or need your sleep after 11pm on most weekends this hotel is NOT the place for you or your travel companions. The rooms are basic motel like, bathroom tub was really small. The beds are older... maybe had a lot of abuse and use?! There is an extra sitting space (like a sitting/ living room) with a small microwave, tv and also refrigerator. Each room has their own patio like space with two chairs and one small table. Nice if you want to just sit outside of your room and relax. The staff, housekeeping, engineers, and front desk personnel are polite and friendly enough. They try their best to accommodate and help where they can. Though, I am not sure I would come back here because this hotel seemed more like a place for young loud guest than for folks looking to relax. Plus there are sooo many of other places just on the same road that I would want to check out next time. I would also want to check out Treasure Island as that seems to be another great spot with many hotels/motels/ cabins to stay and enjoy the beach from. Other things.... I do like their pools, there are two. You can swim with floaties, but buy your own as the resort does not have any. It is a walking distance from the beach...which is also very nice. Note if you want to use the beach, and any of the rental cabanas or chairs they take it all down by 5pm which is a bumper since that is when we actually when we went down there because we were trying to avoid the hot sun. No breakfast or good food options while in the resort but there are a lot of choices within walking distance that you can choose from....deliveries are rare except dominoes pizza it seems like. Oh and last thing...their WIFI is very weak so either have a hotspot or use your cellphone as a hotspot if you want to use your electronic devices. If you are not a smoker, you may be appaulled that the resort allows you to smoke anywhere, from the pool deck, in the pool, beach in front of your room. read more

Good location, near the beach with beach restaurants near by. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean. The resort fee is high. The walls between rooms are soooo thin you can hear everything in the room next door. Nose blowing, burping, talking, etc. people hang out in the common walkway to smoke and if they are near your door it filters into your room. People gather on these walkways late at night and can get very loud. Noise is not monitored by the hotel and it is hard to get a good nights sleep. The pictures were deceiving here. Booked a room at the Beachcomber for a week long vacation with my girlfriend and we couldn't wait. When we first stepped into the first room we were given, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment. The room looked dirty and comparable to a room at the red roof inn and smelled like mold. There were also stains on the walls. Our first thought was to go to the front desk and cancel the reservation and try to find somewhere else but decided to just give it a shot. Went to the beach and came back and I took a shower and our the drain was clogged so the bathroom flooded. There was also a bunch of brown and black stuff floating around the water. Also worth mentioning - when we opened up the window shade, we had a wonderful view of the dumpster. The door to our room also did not seem to fit the doorway correctly as there was a hole in the bottom corner big enough for a mouse to fit through. All of this led to me heading to the front desk to ask for a new room and they were kind enough to give us a new one. The new room was definitely cleaner, although again, still only a step or two above a red roof inn. We ended up paying about $42/night for a "resort fee" which was unexpected and we weren't aware of this until we checked out. I asked what this was for and they said it was for parking, wifi and use of the beach chairs/cabanas which they originally said were all included with the room. But it's not really included with the price of the room if there was a surprise fee or $42 a night for it, right? Jimmy B's was cool and it was nice being right on the beach with the ability to use a cabana/beach chairs. The staff was nice at the hotel and bar. Another plus was being so close to many different restaurants - a lot are within walking distance. If this hotel were $60 a night after tax, I'd probably stay here again. But for the price we paid, I would definitely not recommend the beachcomber. As I mentioned, the staff were great but paying over $1600 for 6 nights here is pretty ridiculous. We still had a good time on our vacation, however, the hotel just wasn't what we were expecting. If I had the opportunity to book the trip again, we would probably take our business to the Postcard Inn next door. The Bellwether down the street looked fairly nice as well, however, we didn't get a chance to look inside. read more

Do not stay here. We checked out a few places to stay while in the area. This place offered the beach, with chairs, live music and a decent lobby area so we went for it. Unfortunately when we got to our rooms, disappointment set in fast. The room was VERY small and VERY old and dirty. They upgraded the bathroom vanity in their recent upgrade....but that's it. Hair was in sink, all the trim was old, peeling paint, dirty, etc. The carpet and doors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Please save your money and go elsewhere. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because they were right on the beach and the live band was pretty good. After a night of not sleeping (oh, the beds sucked!), we packed up and went to a Marriott, where we didn't need to worry about drunk people and bed bugs! An old gem reminds me of the good ole days. I think I'm being generous with 2 stars, but I see the good in things so here we go. This is an older style motel, that I used to see a lot growing up in Florida. I describe it as Holiday Inn style, with two rows of rooms that emanate from the office/lobby toward the beach to create a courtyard. Some of the landscaping is quite mature, and picturesque, with a grand old fountain right in the middle of the courtyard, tiled and still in operation. Touche! At some point the place was renovated and tiled, re-carpeted, new ac units, etc. But even as I looked these improvements I could see that they need to be systematically replaced already and the place appears a bit dirty and in need of some repairs. Some facades are broken, bathrooms are still dated, and the hotel cleaning staff don't do a very good job. In my room the carpet is already getting old, smelly and appears a bit dirty. The cleaners came in and made the bed, replaced towels, but didn't really clean anything else, or replace the coffee, vacuum the floor, etc. Also, you should know that this place must be on a "Smoker Friendly" website or something because just about everyone there is smoking everywhere. In front of all the rooms are a couple of plastic chairs and a table where patrons sit outside and smoke. Good/bad news. Great if you smoke, even just the occasional cigar because you don't have to go the secret smoking place to burn one. But my neighbors chain smoked the entire time so there was no time I could actually enjoy that space outside to sit, relax, and do anything but get some quality second hand smoke. I went to players lounge, it was just okay. The coupon for a drink was only for a rum punch so I passed, but while there a couple sitting at the bar, who could barely talk from all the smoking, ordered food. Then since they had 2 minutes to wait for it, slipped just outside the door to burn another cig. You can pretty much smoke anywhere you want, except inside the room. Again, okay, but they should have advertised this because I wouldn't have stayed here if knew that. Other things: there's no breakfast served here, again, no warning until you get there. Also, there's a resort fee of about 30 bucks a day. Not exactly sure what that's for, but you get charged for it. I think it covers a towel and umbrella if you want to sit on the beach. I never did, so it should be optional. They have wifi, but you will only be able to connect for about 5 seconds, before you get kicked off, so be sure you have plenty of data on your cell phone. The pools get very crowded on the weekend, but on Monday morning there was hardly any cleanup. The pools were obviously dirty and needed a big dose of chlorine or something. Sometime around Tuesday the pool guy showed up but even after he left they were still dirty. Parking is fine if you can find a space in front, if you park on the side you have to do an Austin Powers turnaround to get out, or practice your back-up skills. I also had a letter from the manager that a $10 credit would be issued to me at checkout for any drinks I ordered at their bars. You guessed it, that didn't happen so after a little squabble with the counter agent that was applied. I travel all the time and I really don't need to stay in a posh palace, but this place stinks. I wouldn't stay here again if it was free. On the other hand, if I was on a pretty tight budget, didn't care about any of the things I mentioned, was a chain smoker, didn't eat breakfast, or care about cleanliness, wifi, resort fees, parking or comfort, this place would be great. read more

We went there for a family vacation. Hotel wasn't terrible looks kinda run down from the outside. Inside was okay. Staff was very friendly. They don't have room service which I was okay with you just had to call for new towels and what not. Definitely not a place to take a kid in my opinion. This hotel should be on an episode of hotel hell!!! I would not recommend this place at all. To refer to it as a resort is a JOKE! We're in the middle of a pandemic and cleanliness and sanitation should be a top priority to keep guests safe. Upon checking into our rom, the towels were dirty and dingy and the sheets were also improperly cleaned and itchy! In addition, the hotel were out of wash cloths the whole 5 days we stayed there. What hotel doesn't have wash cloths so you can wash up! If you are looking for luxury or comfort, this isn't the place; this is just a re-imagined MOTEL from the 1969's. The great family vacation was ruined by our stay at this low budget motel. Save your money and find somewhere else to stay that will at least be clean and have wash cloths and towels so that you can wash your body during a pandemic! So disappointed. The rooms were supposed to be updated but they still look cheap and the pull out couches were hard as a brick! Not worth the $2000 we paid for one room for 4 nights. The manager did call to give his retreats and took off $100 of our $2000 bill. That was a slap in the face and added injury to insult to say the least. After visiting the hotel's beach bar several times, we finally decided to stay here for the weekend. Staff could not have been more friendly!! My friends and I were running in a race that weekend and on our way out, everyone wished us good luck....and they congratulated us when we got back! They also promptly addressed a tv/remote issue when we first checked in. AND my friend left a watch and his class ring in the room. We checked out at 11am and at noon, before he even realized he was missing this stuff, I got a message from the front desk saying they found them. Now THAT is great service! If you're looking for luxuries (spa, gym, fancy food)...this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking to have a fun time at the beach with a very accommodating staff, stay here! :) read more

I stayed for one night on 2.22.14. That was enough to last for a lifetime. The room 508 was outdated but ok. I had the extreme misfortune of having a room the back of which opened to the bar/lounge/sound stage. The almost non-stop music moves indoors as it gets darker which made the noise in this area even more noticeable, notwithstanding the glass casing along the back of the bar area. I pulled the heavy drapes and raised the air conditioner to dampen the sound, but my room was shaking to dated rock and roll. Yikes. At about 11 pm I called the front desk to ask when the music would stop. The answer was that it might go on until 3 am. I asked for a room change. No way. I asked what could they do. The answer was that the manger would be in at 8am and I could complain to him/her then. Yikes. Al-in-all, an unbelievably unpleasant experience made worse by the cavalier attitude of the front desk. The icing on the cake was that the employees congregated outside this back area to talk and smoke. What a joy it was to hear about their travails. Truly caveat emptor. Our stay was pleasant. The rooms were adequate but dated. The courtyard and pools were excellent and the backyard beach access was wonderful. The only downside if any would be housekeeping. They seem to only do what they are asked and no more. If you need towels or sheets you have to ask for them. They don't refill the coffee. Things like that. Not a deal breaker though. I would definitely return in the future. On the rooms, as I said they were adequate but dated and the bathroom was incredibly small. Since our stay was more about the beach I really didn't care but some might. Also there was no ventilation in the bathroom which made it pretty steamy in there after showers. What they lack in space for the bathroom is more than made up in the huge walk in closets. That's a plus for the Mrs. The front desk personnel were very professional and courteous. I would like to name drop Elizabeth for her assistance especially. Parking was horrible but free. Not really the fault of the hotel. They do what they can with what they got but our suv was crammed in its space with a shoehorn Overall for the money, it was well worth it. If your looking for pampered luxury, this isn't it but if a clean inexpensive place to stay, with awesome beach access is what you want, then check this place out. Me and my husband absolutely loved this place! We come to Florida in May to see my mother in law for her birthday. This year we decided to stay a few nights by ourselves. We found our little piece of heaven here at the Beachcomber. The rooms are fine..a little old but you can see that they are working on updating it. Our main issue was the electrical outlets that needed to be changed out. Our chargers wouldn't stay plugged in because the outlets are quite old. Other than that, everything else was awesome. The beds are comfy and the A/C works great. Its an added bonus to have a fridge in the room! The beach is right there, and that was where we spent most of our days. The pools looked nice but we have a pool at home so we didnt even use them. We loved Wayne, the guy that rented out the cabanas on the beach. In fact my husband and Wayne exchanged phone numbers. My hubby found a new friend:) There are lots of restaurants, party stores and souvenir shops within walking distance which was great. All the employees were super friendly, especially Eva at the front desk. It was such a great place that we cut our trip with the MIL short and went back to the Beachcomber for the final leg of our trip! We look forward to returning again! We called and were able to get booked a room last minute by Hannah. Staff was friendly. The courtyard is nicely landscaped with 2 pools. The rooms however are very outdated. The shower backs up, and every 20seconds you get scaling hot water then cold, only thing updated in the rooms are the TVs. Price would be ok if they didn't charge a resort fee. This certainly did not feel like a resort. The bars block the ocean view rooms so don't bother paying extra for those. Music was extremely loud until 3am. The food was pretty good though from there kitchen. Overall it was ok, for last minuets booking but we will stay somewhere else next time. Feels more like a big party crash spot for early to mid 20s people. read more

When we first arrived at the Beachcomber Resort on St Pete Beach, FL, the person at the front desk was great to work with and was very helpful with all of our needs.  After a few hours of being out and about we returned to our room at around 10pm to the strong smell of sewage inside our room.  We went to the front desk and requested the manager on site.  The manager came forward whose name is Donna, and offered a fraction off the room.  We explained to her that the sewage smell was unlivable conditions and she kept offering me $50 off the $271 room.  I told her to walk to the room and check it out for herself, but she kept on with the small discount.  After she refused  a full refund  multiple times , I told her that I'm getting our belongings within 10 minutes and we will have to leave if something isn't taken care of.  We returned to our room to gather our things, and within 5 minutes Donna knocked at the door along with two maintenance workers who had a turbo fan and spray chemicals.  After I opened the door, they didn't ask to come in, but they did.  They immediately set up the turbo fan and sprayed the entire room with chemicals, which made it much worse.  I turned to Donna and told her that this is not acceptable, and that is when she started threatening me that she will call the sheriff. The whole time we dealt with everyone at the Beachcomber Resort, we never raised our voices, never used profanity, and never made threats whatsoever.  They didn't have a replacement room due to 100% capacity.  It was at this time that Donna was making it very clear that we are not welcome there and was basically asking us to leave. We paid $271 for a room that smelled like sewage, which later on was sprayed with unknown chemicals, and an extremely loud turbo fan set up in the middle of the room, and Donna, the hotel manager expected us to stay there. I have video of this as well.  After threats of calling the sheriff, we left the premises, as we were doing anyways, not needing threats of police presence.  We then UBER'd home, as we are locals to the area. We got home right at midnight of the new year without being able to use what we paid for.  We were treated with extreme disrespect.  We were expected to put up with unsanitary and health risk conditions.  We were threatened multiple times for no reason, and not a single apology or decent solution was offered.  It was very apparent that Donna was using her power of the hotel manager position to get us off the property asap in order to avoid accepting fault, and to save face.        As locals to Saint Petersburg, we've been to just about every place in the area, and have never been treated as poorly as we were the night of 12/31/2018.  I'll be sure to pass on the experience we had to all my friends and family, along with all my social media forums and sites that I make reviews on.  If management wishes to discuss that evening, they will have my contact info via BBB. read more

My first reaction when I saw the place was not so good. Old school motel vibe. It's def got some miles on it. The old pk lot attendant guy was rude. The bar out back was rockin and they played till late in the night. I was afraid I wouldn't get any sleep at all. The carpet in our room was stained and dirty. By the second day it started growing on me. Great beach right there. The tiki bar was very convenient. Pool was nice. What really made it for me was that somehow we got the best room in the whole place. Room 512 has the best view of the pool and the beach in the whole hotel. If u stay there ask for 512! read more

Check-in was easy and was pleased that room was available before check-in time. I had read reviews that made me a little anxious about the cleanliness as I am an OCD perfectionist. However, upon entering our room I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was. The grounds were very well kept. The resort fee of $38.00 was well worth the price as it included 2 beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels. These easily cost $40 - $45 a days if rented. Our king suite was actually larger than the photos show although the bathroom is a little on the small side but the shower is large. The room air did cool after set at 68 for several hours. Parking could be a problem at full capacity although we didn't have a problem. Several restaurants within walking distance. Major Complaint - a group of seven of us in four different rooms visited Jimmy Bs for lunch after check-in. Although the kitchen is under renovation, the food was pretty good. Upon returning home and checking my credit card I discovered I was charged for my husband's and my lunch in addition to being charged for our friends lunch who paid cash. Bottom line, the waitress pocketed their cash payment and covered it with our card. I called the hotel and left a message for the restaurant manager. Two days and heard nothing. Called and left another message and still no reply. I am in the process of filing fraud charges. So sad that the dishonest waitress has cost Beachcomber the future business of at least 8 people and possible fraud charges. read more

My husband and I stayed here for / days to end our vacation. Hotel was perfect for what we paid. Two heated pools, great staff and 3 bars plus the beach. This hotel is a great place to stay if you just want to hang at the beach. There is Jimmy B bar right by beach at end of hotel. Great drinks and food. Awesome live music. Beautiful beach. Nice breeze. You don't have to drive anywhere. Eat, drink and be merry. The hotel is nicely renovated. The rooms are comfy, clean and tastefully done. Great service at front desk. Richard and the ladies were Very helpful. Parking can be challenging but they check to make sure you are staying at the hotel before allowing you to park there. Overall great experience. read more

This so called resort is a filthy dump. Starting with a filthy room, bathroom was dirty beyond belief, used shampoo mixed in with the bath towels. Loud band playing until 1:00am. People screaming until 2:00am. No security presence. They prefer to be a nightclub and sports bar facility not a hotel... It's a place for you stay once you stumble out one of their numerous bars. This place is an old school hotel directly on the beach. If your looking for something cheap and for a place to simply sleep, this would be a good spot. Service was pretty good. The resort has 1 big pool and a small baby pool. There is a sports bar with a lot games which are FREE, My kids loved it. The bar is right next to the pool and faces the beach. They had great bands all the nights we were there. My only complaints were the WIFI didn't work or least the signal was very poor. Also, the rooms aren't very appealing. We had a roach in the bathroom and the wood doors were falling apart. Again, good cheap place to simply go party for a night or two or a quick getaway. read more

Is the lier of the liers...they told me they have a breakfast and they don't, the hotel doesn't practice distancing for covid and a lot of people without mask, rake the risk if you want...worse hotel in the world, you can get better for a better price...very disappointed.... read more

Screwed up initial reservation. Claimed I had a bill at players club burst into my room while I was asleep to get paid. When asked for Owner or Management Company was told no one has that information. Stay away. Should have a negative star review. read more

My sister and I had a great 4 days here. We were impressed with our room. Walk in closet and separate room with couch and TV. Bands every night were fantastic. Cocktails are pricey (8.95) for small cup. Happy hour next door at the Toasted Monkey from 11-6, drinks are 3.25. Staff very polite. Grounds are clean. Would recommend. read more

Rooms were nice, had a pool view room. Restaurant/Bar area was a bit chaotic on their Covid set up. No coffee machines in the room. Adult only pool was a nice feature, but no hot tub. Live music was decent. Lots of news channels on their cable package. Shower handle was a bit broken and awkward to turn on. Mini fridge stayed cold!! read more

Our group absolutely loved our stay at this resort! The staff was very friendly and always checking on us to make sure our stay was going perfect. Bob with the hotel was exceptional!!!! We loved seeing his smiling face. At Jimmy B's Beach Bar our favorite waiter and bartender was Auston and Tyler!!!! They showed us the best customer service our whole stay. Been coming here for years. Love Love Love this place! Would never consider another hotel on St. Pete Beach. I was surprised by the resort fee that was added since the last time I visited. I can not really complain though because it did include a cabana for each day that I stayed. I am all about ease and comfort when I vacation. The cabana definitely added that to my beach experience. The rooms are not massive. They are more boutique size rooms. Trust me, I have stayed in smaller rooms and payed much more at the boutique hotels. Customer service is phenomenal. The kindness of the staff is always a delight. Can not recommend this place enough. See everyone next year! read more
