I showed up about five minutes late, but they were really understanding and got me settled in right away. It was my first time making an appointment at Beauty Spot. I called to ask if they take walk-ins, and Alice kindly adjusted the schedule to fit me in. I really appreciate how accommodating they were! The place is cozy and welcoming, with plenty of parking in the back. I met Shelly, who was so nice and very professional. The Beauty Spot: Disrespectful service and an owner who couldn't care less. I've been a loyal client for 9 months, totaling 9 services, even bringing my mom here because I was originally happy with Karen's work. But after my last visit on the morning of Friday, March 14th, I will never return. Here's what happened: I overheard Karen and another stylist laughing about me in the back, calling me "annoying." When I confronted Karen, she acknowledged she was talking about me and when I pressed about her derogatory remark, her response was a dismissive "I don't know, that's not between you and me," before walking off to look out the blinds like I wasn't even there. If she wasn't talking about me, her reaction was completely out of place and very odd --especially when she has bragged many times about having a client who comes all the way from Pennsylvania to see her. Note, when I'm in town, I'm loyal and only have gone to her for her services. I should've walked out then, but I stayed to try to give her the benefit of the doubt. Instead of apologizing or addressing the issue, Karen acted like nothing had happened, casually asking how I was doing and talking about the weather while I sat there in shock. The only person who showed any professionalism or actually seemed to care was Alice, the front desk manager. She listened to my complaint, apologized for Karen's behavior, and assured me she'd pass the incident along to the owner. I sent a detailed account via text of what happened to Alice, and she confirmed the owner received it on Friday, March 14th at 1:09pm. The next morning, Saturday March 15th at 9:33am, I was added to a group chat with an unknown number and Alice. The text simply asked, "What's the client's name?" This morning, Monday March 18th at 9:08am, Alice responded with my full name and she addressed the owner by name in her response. They then proceeded to have a text conversation between the two of them about an upcoming client. But, that was it. No follow-up. No apology. Nothing. I waited until today, nearly five days after the incident, to see how everything would play out before writing this review. If the owner can't be bothered to respond to a long-time client who was treated this poorly, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. And I strongly recommend that if you want to be treated with respect, to pick a different salon. A salon is supposed to be a place where you feel pampered, respected, and valued. Unfortunately, The Beauty Spot has proven they have no regard for any of that. If there is anything new to report, I'll be sure to update this review. read more

If you're considering getting a layered haircut with Karen, I strongly advise against it. I booked an appointment with her based on positive reviews since my usual hairstylist was unavailable. I showed her a reference photo, and she assured me she could achieve the look, especially since my hair texture was similar. Unfortunately, the result was a complete disaster. The layers were so uneven that no amount of fixing could make them look right. The front pieces didn't align at all, and the back looked like a mess. Karan was kind and friendly, and I understand that mistakes happen--everyone has bad days. But a bad day shouldn't mean ruining someone's hair. A simple "sorry" doesn't undo a terrible haircut that takes months to grow out. I truly wish I had gone elsewhere. read more

Cute little salon on San Felipe Road! It seems very secluded and the salon has a nice small boutique inside too so you can shop while waiting for your hair to be done. The owner has 3 little chihuahuas that walk around like they own the place and I completely adore them. It's another little form of entertainment when you're waiting for your hair. I've been going to The Beauty Spot for a little over two years now. Andrea Fuentes is my hairstylist and there are not enough words to express how AMAZING she is, personally and professionally. I typically like to surprise Andrea and let her do her magic and every time she works wonders. She has a great sense of the products and matches the swatches to your color tone. She takes her time in preparing the mixes and is very gentle once applied. Andrea works hard at making sure her clients' requests are met. Every time I get my color and cut, I am never dissatisfied. In fact I always feel like a brand new woman! We've played with colors from a dark auburn to plum to most recent fire orange. The last hair dye Andrea did for me absolutely nailed it, hands down. She bleached my hair to ombré, but it was unlike any other bleach. I've done this before and it damaged my hair, but this bleach has been very safe and my hair is not bleach blonde. Since the temporary orange color faded, it has faded into some amazing orange/yellow hues and I still get tons of compliments two months later!! It was by far the COOLEST hair dye she has ever done and I look forward to re-doing it again :D Andrea knows her stuff and I absolutely recommend her for your hair needs. They were very nice over phone and explained why a consultation was needed before work is done, which was already a plus in my book because of a bad experience elsewhere that did not give my daughter an ombre, but just a highlight. I was charged $110 for a trim which I felt was very expensive, but said nothing at the time because no one mentioned price ahead of time and I hadn't gone to a salon in a few years. I even tipped $20 (stupid). I didn't want to be that person but I Just saw today on their website a full haircut and style is $85 and feel super ripped off. I wanted to love this place so much. I struggle with my hair and really liked how my hair was cut the first time I came. I ignored the personal comments my hairstylist made about my "huge" forehead and my hair loss that I have no control over. I overlooked it and really liked how my hair was cut and styled. I told myself I would try it again in the future. Flash forward to today. I decided that before my vacation from my high stress job, that I would treat myself to a cut. I arrived 5 mins before my appointment and stood at the doorway awkwardly while 2 workers were styling a mannequin head. One of them looked at me and continued working on it and then awkwardly grabbed a mask and put it on and greeted me. She asked if I had an appointment and the other person turned around and asked me if I was her appointment. I said yes and she took me right in. She sat me down to wash my hair and asked what we were doing today and I started to explain that I wanted it cut to the top of my shoulders and long layers but I was open to going shorter. And she replied, well I need to know now because I have another appointment right after you and my time is essential. I said ok and just said to my shoulders then. She then loudly asked is that alopecia on the sides of your head or what?? I just replied that no its hormone related. She finished washing my hair and asked if I wanted to do any bangs. I said yes, I like a side bang. She goes oh good to hide your forehead, I need to do the same thing. She said she could make me look more feminine. I didn't even know I had that issue. She went on for about 5 mins about huge foreheads until finally I said it has nothing to do with my forehead, I just like bangs. And she said oh thats fine, whatever you like. It took everything I had to not cry and walk out. She cut my hair super fast and was carrying on conversation with other clients. She then blow dried my hair and asked if I wanted it shorter after all. I replied with it's ok I don't want to take up anymore of your time and she said ok! I dont mind someone helping or educating me about things I don't know but this day that I had set aside for myself turned into a really triggering experience. I paid $85 to be told that I look a man with a huge forehead that's balding prematurely. I paid the exact same base price that her next client is surely paying and was rushed out even though I made this appointment days ago. The person who checked me out at the end was nice and asked if I wanted to preschedule my haircuts but I was barely holding back tears at this point so I declined. I never use yelp for reviews but I need the owner to know what kind of personal and hurtful comments are being made to loyal clients or to new ones who are trying to become a regular. read more

I really wanted this place to be my go to. I've had Sylvia and Vanessa do my hair and they both did a good job. However there are a few cons that bother me: - they never keep time. I've been made to wait every single time and I don't see why I should when I have an appointment and am on time. - pricing is sketchy. They never tell you for certain how much anything is. Sylvia determines the price for all the stylists and it changes all the time. - when you make an appointment with a certain stylist, she does double book you. So expect to share her which means you're there longer. All of these are fixable and I think if they did it would be run so much better. read more

Prices online said for perm, $85-$125 I was charged $185 for a spiral perm which I did not want . I wanted loose curls . This was my first time going I wasn't to pleased with the services. Luckily the owner gave me a call and offered to fix it. I never got my money worth. Nice lil place but will never be going back unfortunately. After my perm my hair was so damaged. When she told the stylist, Fernando what she wanted, he quickly agreed without asking any further questions and began to cut her hair. She had gone to him before so she trusted he knew how to cut her hair. Once it was over and blow dried, she realized it wasn't what she wanted but paid and left. Once she got home she realized it wasn't what she wanted. She fixed it herself once she was home. And if you suck at applying makeup like me, I could tell she does well with that too. However, I recommend to pay the $65 with CASH. When I paid by card, a mistake was made and I was charged (the $65) twice. Luckily the receptionist kept me informed and was very pleasant about fixing the mistake.
