I stayed here when I was in town to run the NYC Marathon. This was one of the nicer places that I've stayed at in Manhattan. I was able to get a unit while using my Wyndham Rewards points to cover the 3 night stay. It's located on 1st Ave, near the East River and just north of the United Nations Headquarters. The check-in process was quick and easy. After the necessary paperwork was done, I was given keys to the unit. I hopped on one of the three elevators. I believe the middle one only goes up to the Ophelia Lounge on the 26th floor which I did not visit during my short stay. The staff at the front desk was always very nice and friendly. Although my unit did come with a kitchen, there were plenty of dining options all within walking distance for those that don't want to cook while on vacation. I found everything in my unit to be clean and in good working condition. I was able to easily get to wherever I needed to go for the marathon. I wouldn't mind staying here again for any future visits to NYC.

In the words of the front counter staff, "...stay somewhere else then!" One would think for the money one pays to stay here that one would be treated with at least a little courtesy and the place have some decent accommodations. The unit our family stayed in was decent and clean. The toilet seat cracked after simply lifting it up. We asked for more sheets and towels and were met with utter rudeness and "i don't even know where any of things are" and were told we need to ask before 5. The morning after we checked in, there was no hot water for the kids to take a shower. The free breakfast was pathetic (see photos). There's a reason why this place has a low rating. Be warned. It's sad we have to post a review like this but its what the Yelp community is all about. Helping other Yelpers...

The staff deserves 5 stars, but overall it is poorly maintained property, if you are renting one bedroom be prepared to sleep on a full size bed. The mattress needed to be replaced a couple of years ago. If you have a child and need a rollaway do not waste your time on it, it is terrible quality. We ended up going to target and purchasing an air mattress. The heater is making very loud clicking noises that wakes you up in the middle of the night . When we asked about it we were told that it is a know issue and nothing could be done about it. One of the evenings our unit smelled of cigarette smoke, it was coming through our kitchen vent. When hotel staff could not figure out where it was coming from we asked for the vent to be covered with plastic. I was expecting that someone will check with me in the morning if the issue was resolved but nobody even bothered to ask. Overall I would not recommend anybody spending their money here, this is not the place to be comfortable in.

I like the Beekman tower hotel bar, its an art deco masterpiece. The bar is small and only seats four, and the small terraces are also small, but there are more tables indoors though too. Drinks are on the pricey side, and staff could be quite a bit more pleasant. Its a bit out of the way though, and unless you are staying at the hotel, there really isn't a whole lot of reason to seek this place out, so it remains a quiet little gem that doesn't get the bridge and tunnel crowd.

For this Marriott the location is excellent if you are going to watch a show on Broadway. Very convenient for the play and also get a subway to anywhere else you have to go. The rooms are generally very nice and this hotel also has everything connected and controlled through a tablet which is very appealing to me. They also have a nice bar right in the hotel that is open till late. The only downside is the size. Now hotels in major cities like this like New York or Tokyo are small and pricey. Two things that can sort of negatively affect your opinion but considering they are all like that in the area, you have to compare accordingly. The only real downside for me is that the toilet is literally next to to the shower to the point that you could shower while using the toilet (I took a picture of my hand holding the shower handle on top of the toilet seat as a joke) and the sink is outside to wash your hands after using the restroom. I feel that they could have done a better design for this to avoid it. It didn't appeal to me and it's the only thing keeping me from giving this hotel 5 stars. I will probably stay here again when I go to watch another play.

More than that though, the hotel exuded such a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The check-in area and lobby is a great example of this: I love all the plants, wood, and how there is a pleasant cedar or sandalwood scent. My kids and I really liked the water infused with cucumber (or lemon-lime another day) by the elevators. It's a great transition from bustling Manhattan to walk into this hotel. The restaurant Jams on the first floor is also great, and nice to be able to have a delicious meal right at the hotel. Excellent food and coffee - we went for both breakfast and dinner here. We were celebrating a birthday, and the staff helped make the stay feel special. The front desk and door staff were consistently helpful and welcoming. Our rooms were excellent, with a great view, comfortable beds, and a lot of thoughtful sustainability features. I especially liked that all of the water in the hotel is filtered. I did not use the fitness center on the second floor, but I looked great. The location is phenomenal, just steps from Central Park. With our kids, we were able to easily get to the Central Park Zoo, Heckscher Playground, and the Billy Johnson Playground, and my wife and I were also able to walk to a Broadway show in the evening. It was a great hotel for a family trip, and we hope to be back for our next NYC trip!

There was no acknowledgement, apology, or refund. On the plus side, the location is great. Subway stop for the M train is nearby, and it is close to Central Park and Columbus Circle. It's too bad the hotel was a bummer.

One of the biggest highlights was the room and bathroom layout--both were incredibly spacious, especially by New York standards where square footage is usually at a premium. The location is highly convenient, sitting just a short, easy 10-minute walk from Times Square. I really appreciated their SkyLounge, which is accessible 24 hours a day for water and soft drinks. They also serve a decent breakfast selection there in the mornings. While I didn't get a chance to check out the on-site restaurant and bar, I loved that they partner with the Planet Fitness right next door, making it super convenient to fit in a workout. I don't typically stay at Renaissance properties, but I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC!

You enter on the first floor, but the lobby is on the sixth floor. I was having flashbacks to Tokyo... There are four elevators, and when I checked in, the place was packed. Some event must have been going on because getting an elevator was an adventure (a sad one). It didn't help that everyone had to take an elevator just to reach the lobby, then another to get to their room. Fortunately, I was only on the ninth floor...so I got my steps in. The room itself was mostly ok. One thing I really didn't like was the air conditioning. It wouldn't cool below 68 degrees. I despise hotels that throttle the A/C. I'd get warm, the air would finally kick on, I'd be comfortable for about ten minutes...then the cycle would repeat all night. Another thing that caught me off guard was the ceiling. Maybe they're going for an industrial look, but it was basically unfinished concrete. Other than those complaints, everything else in the room was perfectly acceptable, and for a one night stay, it did the job.

The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast. It was so good that my friends ended up wanting to hang out in my room and order dinner instead of going back out into the heat. Perfect stay from beginning to end. I can't wait to come back.
