My husband & I both got the "vegetarians be like" a bag of chips and a Diet Coke. Our total was $26 & we left a tip. We sat outside and our food came out in about 5-10mins. HOLY FREAKING COW! As a self-professed sandwich affectionado, I can truly say The Beli has some of the most creative, truly tasty sandwiches served on vintage glassware I've tasted nationwide. We ordered five different sandwiches, had them cut into quarters and shared among four friends while waiting to see Dwight Yoakum tonight at The Wharf. The sandwiches were 100% fantastic! run, don't walk, to The Beli for any excuse you can think up. The Beli was highly recommended by our son, who visits the AL coast regularly and is not a fan of most sandwiches. He suggested the Big Momma and I'm glad I followed his suggestion. The Big Momma was freshly toasthad big bold flavor The Beli is a cute sandwich shop with plenty of outside seating. Sandwich concoctions are truly unique. My wife had the Skinny Legend which was equally tasty. Make sure you know what to expect. It is an open air, dog-friendly, sandwich place with few sides choices (not even many chip options). Additionally there is not any parking. Parking is on the street a few blocks away. Don't try to drive down the driveway next to the sandwich shop in order to park in the back either. The owners of the restaurant next door will be sure to tell you you can't park there. If you just want a good tasting sandwich in the ocean air, this is the place. read more

The place literally had no one inside the restaurant. We ordered 3 to-go sandwiches and the woman that checked us out was lovely, very helpful and nice. The sandwiches however, were almost inedible. We ordered the Big Mama, Old Bird, and Smokey Joe. The Old Bird was the tastiest (5/10), a solid chicken salad sandwich, just way too salty. The Smokey Joe was straight bad, no mayo (or moisture of any kind on the sandwich), one over-cooked egg with no yolk, the saltiest fried out bacon and what seemed to an old leftover chicken pattie that filled 1/3 of the hero roll. The Big Mama was super salty as well, made edible only by the addition of the jam. Our stomachs were upset after the meal, which isn't a good sign. So disappointed. read more

The Beli "The Original Beach Deli" just opened days ago and their serving some tasty stuff. We stopped by on a rainy day before our first visit and met the very friendly and effervescent young ladies responsible for this new culinary venture. Lauren and Beth Ann told us about their vision and we decided to come back today and we're glad we did. They're just a couple blocks west of Hwy 59 on W. Beach Blvd across Island Winds and the beach. For parking turn right on West 3rd just before the shop into the big spacious lot. It's a nice open space space with vibrant colors with four inside tables and several picnic tables outside and an indoor restroom. To order just walk up to the counter, browse the menu, order, pay and take a seat and they'll bring your order to your table. They also have takeout and you can also call ahead with your takeout order at 251-224-1053. They also already have some nice merch available with t-shirts and more. It's also dog friendly and I knew that right away because they have a big cookie jar on the counter full of puppy treats. On to our lunch, well I already had my eye on the Dave-O which is technically on their breakfast menu, which is served 8-1, but they made it for me anyway :-) It's a spicy pimento cheese with fried egg and bacon on toasted sourdough bread. It was fresh, hot and very tasty and that pimento cheese was better than most I've had with a nice little kick. My sweetheart had the Miss V which has spicy pimento cheese, turkey, salami, lettuce, tomato and chive mayo on toasted sourdough as well. Again a fresh and nice looking sandwich that she really enjoyed. We agreed that we will be back that we will be back soon to try some of the breakfast offerings and some more of their sandwiches. I've already got my eye on the Surfer Dude which is crab and shrimp salad on a hero roll, sounds yummy. For drinks they have sodas, sweet and unsweet teas and coffee. They also have a variety of chips and big whole pickles. Bottom line: I enjoyed my first lunch here and an looking forward to my next visit to this the cool new deli by the beach. Driving through Gulf Shores as we arrived in town, The Beli caught our attention. I thought it was an interesting looking place, my girlfriend thought the same describing it based off a first, drive-by impression as "cute." That said, we really wanted to try to stop at some point during the visit. Very glad we did. We ordered the Miss V, big pimento cheese fans here, and I hadn't really made a trip to the South previously so pimento cheese was on my to do list in Gulf Shores. The sandwich was great, but the best part were the cookies. I highly recommend getting a cookie on your visit. Chocolate chip was great, and so was the cookie with the chocolate chip, coconut and macadamia nuts. Great experience and customer service. It did take 20 minutes to get the sandwich but we stopped by next door for a drink to pass the time. Just be prepared for that, and it sounds like you can always order and pick it up. read more

A local GEM!!! I've been coming here since this place opened let's be clear on what to expect: this is an OPEN AIR BEACHSIDE AND DOG FRIENDLY CAFE ran by some of the nicest women you'll meet. These ladies are absolutely killing it with their breakfast and lunch sandwiches. They're all made fresh to order, super fast, and with care. The open air structure makes this a super chill place to hang out while you have your morning coffee or just to pop in and get some relief from the sun while you have a snack. The ladies that run this place are out here living their dream and you can clearly see that reflected in their service. I cannot imagine what an a**hole you'd have to be to get a rise out of any of them but the comments disparaging their attitude or service are clearly Karens. Stopped in yesterdy for breakfast after seeing its across the street from our condo. Very cute atmosphere. Friendly owners! Shop puppy was adorable! We ordered a scrambled egg and ground sausage bagel. So yummy! Grabbed an iced coconut crème coffee and a hot coffee as well. I gave it only 4 stars because when we attempted to go again today, we showed up about 10 min before opening (without realizing) and the owner told us to come back in 10-15 min. We did and it was still not open and no one was at the counter even. None of the tables were out and nothing at the counter. For a busy Saturday morning, that was a bit disappointing but I will give them a shot again next trip over this way. I was wondering why there are so many reviews who mention that the owners are "sweet" "friendly" and "kind" and "cute". It's added to every other review it seems. In all of Yelp, compliments to the owner(s)' personality is rarely if ever in a review. Why so many here? Seems like they're padding their yelp reviews with personal or friend's accounts. All said, the food is just average and there are cleanliness issues. There frequently is garbage lying around, and I did see pet hair close to food. Just saying. Plus the owner does start with insults on social media to anyone who doesn't agree with her. Definitely not "sweet". Take your chances on good day vs bad day here. read more

Our place in Gulf Shores was right down the road from this place so we passed it multiple times and it really caught our eye. The restaurant seemed to embody everything one would want out of a beach deli with open airflow to feel the beach breeze. One morning, we decided to give it a shot. Upon entrance, there was a lady who briefed us on when lunch started and what ingredients they were out of. We decided to order off the lunch menu and I went with the Smokey Joe. After sitting down for a bit, we saw other patrons who arrived well after us receive their food and leave. We quickly realized that our order was forgotten which did leave us a bit upset. After making that clear to the staff, our food then came out in the next couple of minutes. My sandwich was delicious and helped to aleve the pain which came with the long wait. All in all, the place is definitely worth a trip for a quality breakfast and would have been a solid 5-Star had it not been for the long wait. read more

Down for an October visit to the beach, I was looking for somewhere I could walk and grab a sandwich. After spotting this spot on Maps, I headed down the road. It's a quaint spot directly on the road. The two ladies in the restaurant greeted me and pointed me to the menu. My wife chose the Miss V and I went for the Sunburned Tomato with chips and a drink.
