The Bellbird Bakeshop was exactly what I needed to start the morning. I was craving something sweet and we ended up in La Grange to try it out. Place was packed, so that already said a lot. Waited in line maybe 10 minutes, not bad, but it was worth it. Smelled amazing the whole time. You can see all the way though and watch them make the pastries. The whole place had that modern minimalist look. Staff was super friendly, just a little rushed, but that's expected with how busy it was. I got the almond croissant and a latte. Once I got it... yeah, that first bite did it. Super flaky, layers just breaking apart everywhere. Light, crispy on the outside, soft inside. The almond filling had that slightly sweet, nutty flavor, kinda rich but not too much. There was a bit of that soft, almost creamy center that made it even better. Top had that light crunch too, with powdered sugar and sliced almonds. Dipping it in the latte just worked. That slight bitterness with the sweetness of the croissant, really good combo. It's the kind of place where you just slow down for a minute before the day starts. I'd go back for that croissant alone. read more

Amazing Bread, pastries cookies and cakes. Offering savory and sweet versions. Really enjoy and devour inventive flavor combinations along with some very historical classic flavors as well. I cannot get enough from this bakery and am there trying one of what ever is new as i have tried the regularly occurring options already. Had one Jalapeño Jackfruit bearclaw this weekend, wish i had brought them all home. Very savory vegetarian bbq filling with spice from jalapeño and tangy pickle slices enrobed in amazing laminated pastry shell.... mmmmmm yummy!! Seriously Michelin Star worthy baking. Would only get this quality and creativity in flavors (and historically significant pastries) if dinning at a Michelin started restaurant. We are lucky to have this bakery in LaGrange . read more

Oh heck yea! This place is bomb!! We were nearby and stumbled upon the Thursday farmer's market and we happened to park near this stop so I told my husband I wanted to stop by to check it out before we went back to the city and I'm so glad we did. Everything looked so delicious. However we had a long trip ahead of us back to the city so I couldn't get any of the cooler items. A lady ahead of me got the matcha strawberry pound cake & that sounded amazing so, so did I. I wasn't able to try it till I got home that evening and it was pretty damn moist. Typically pound cake for me is dense but something about this one was pretty airy and so delicious. Couldn't finish it and the next day it was still moist. Ran into this shop while grabbing a coffee before an open house in La Grange this morning. A nice bakery with a great ham and cheese croissant that has a little course mustard inside and comes topped with a pickle. I've had similar croissants before and this one was just as tasty with a crispy, flaky exterior and a soft inside filled with a savory melted cheese and ham. There was still a decent selection of baked goods and treats available at 1pm on a busy La Grange Main Street Saturday which I appreciated. The interior is clean with a little bit of seating available and I liked the music they were playing which helped the bakery have a very relaxed vibe compared to the bustle and traffic going on outside. The friendly staff help with that too. I wish I would have seen it before I grabbed my coffee so I could try their drink options too but there's always next time. read more

Bellbird is an outstanding bakery with some of the best sourdough around. The bread has that perfect crust and chew, and every pastry and dessert feels carefully made. The croissants are spot-on and remind me of the kind you find in Europe. It's tough not to grab one of everything because it all looks and tastes so good. They serve Metric Coffee too, which pairs perfectly with anything you order. Service is also great. A definite family favorite and absolutely worth the visit. read more

Everything I've eaten has been phenomenal. La grange is lucky to have a bakery like this. I particularly love the chocolate croissants and caneles, but you can't go wrong with anything you order. They occasionally bake limited time pastries, which keep the bakeshop exciting and fresh. I recently tried the sourdough, which has the perfect balance of moisture, springiness, and chew - great for making avocado toast, sandwiches, or just to be enjoyed with butter and jam. I have not tried the cakes yet, but they look perfect for special occasions, and I'm sure the quality is great. I will find an excuse to buy one. Tip: You need to get there early before they sell out. It depends on the day, but some things will sell out very quickly. read more

We are so lucky to have this beautiful new bakeshop in our town. I went this morning as soon as they opened. Fresh baguettes were coming out of the oven, beautiful croissants and other delicate pastries were laid out in their lovely display. I got ham and cheese croissants, a mini pumpkin loaf, focaccia, Kouign-Amann (sugary, croissant like bun) and a matcha late. Everything was out of this world good. The croissants are so buttery you know you are treating yourself. The matcha was so good I ordered another before I left for a friend. The space is also beautiful. It would be a nice place to meet friends or just sit and read while enjoying their great pastries. The owners are also a local family and they and their team were so welcoming. read more

This place is amazing. I no longer need to go downtown to get my pastry fix. Easily one of the top 5 bakeries in all of the Chicago area. I wanted to like this bakery, but the basque cheesecake was terrible. It tasted like a block of cream cheese with fake sugar and citrus. That's the only way I can describe it because I didn't get any vanilla or caramel notes in the cake at all which is how a traditional basque is made. read more

I live in downtown la grange, like 3 minutes away from the bakery and every time I go there to get something they are out of it. Just really poor planned business and customer service is terrible! I told the person who works there that if they are out of things all the time, there is no point coming there and she said it's totally fine. Well I won't be bringing my business here again and also I am leaving bad review because customer service does not give a crab about customers. read more

LOVE this bakery. Everything we've tried there has been wonderful and the croissants are literally the best I've ever had outside of Paris. I do go early as they get busy, but you know you are getting freshly made products not frozen, re-baked goods. The staff is welcoming and the shop is set up where you can just sit and have a really nice coffee and a pastry before starting your day.
