Okay I've been here for drinks over the years but never for food, so hear me out. The bruschetta grilled cheese and tomato soup combo changed my life. Hands down, best grilled cheese I've ever had and that says a lot. My husband took an actual photo of his food and posted it on Instagram. You don't understand - he NEVER does that. In fact he loathes people who do that. But the Cardiff crack sandwich was THAT good that he had to post about it on social media. He hasn't used his Instagram in months. The sandwich was THAT GOOD. I enjoyed my brunch at the Bier Garden. Service was good and the ambiance was nice. My spicy chicken and biscuit dish was 7/10 and my Bloody Mary was 5/10. Both could've been a little better seasoned and the Bloody Mary was a bit weak. Poached eggs were excellent. I did love that the Bloody Mary came with a little beer chaser of my choice. My friends' chicken sandwiches and Cobb salad looked great, as did the fries. Next time I'll order one of those dishes and a beer instead of a mixed drink. Sometimes a restaurant can earn an excellent review, not solely on their food, drink and ambience, but on the way in which they solve problems. My wife ordered the Cobb Salad and I ordered the Cheeseburger, medium rare, with Onion Rings & a Draft. Everything was outstanding, except the Burger came MEDIUM WELL. I called the server and she immediately whisked the burger away (leaving those superb onion rings for me to munch on). My replacement burger arrived within 5 minutes and was perfectly done, served with another order of Onion Rings. It was the manager who delivered the new burger and waited for my approval. This kind act is rare in today's world. As if that wasn't enough, they took the entire Burger Plate along with 2 orders of Onion Rings - OFF THE BILL! I can't say enough of how this initial problem was handled: TOTAL CLASS and GOOD BUSINESS. We will be back AND SO SHOULD YOU. read more

This is an amazing place. The food was so good! We had a salad with salmon, and it was fantastic. They must've had a unique way of cooking salmon, as I've never tasted anything better. I liked the food, but even though they had a kids menu and high chairs but no changing tables in either restroom. Why offer options for kids but no place to change a diaper in the restroom? The manager was completely unhelpful giving me no options either. The food was good, numerous gluten free options and were good with people who have celiac. I always like celiac friendly restaurants. The service was slow and they were understaffed. It took a long time for our orders to be taken (at 3pm) and the food came out at different times. This was the first time here and I must say not a huge fan. The positives were that we were able to be seated quickly on a busy Friday evening, and the drink I had was pretty good too. I wasn't too thrilled about how close the seating was and that they had seating on the side walk so you literally feel claustrophobic if a large crowd walked by....plus right behind the sidewalk seating was high top tables that were only separated by a rail so it felt like you were eating with other guests. I ordered the portobello burger and by the time I ordered it and then went to wash my hands I came back to see that it had been delivered already at the table. To some that's really awesome, but I prefer a more made fresh to order approach, rather than a pre made meal. The burger was itself was too sweet and the server had forgotten to add an item I had asked. Since she never came to check on us, I wasn't able to get it corrected. I usually like to include how the staff was sweet and helpful, unfortunately that wasn't the case here. The server didn't seem at all interested in serving us and made us feel like we were taking up space in her section. The owner or manager even approached and I thought he was going to ask how everything was, but instead just wanted to clear the table...and felt like he was also rushing us. First time here and we were starving. So we order the grilled cheese with tomato soup for me, and chicken sandwich for my hubby. The grilled cheese and tomato soup were good, I wanted to try the cris cut fries but tomato soup won me over. Grilled cheeses was good and it was presented nice And the cheese was melted that you can wrap it on your fingers. The tomato soup was yummy with the right consistency of sourness (wish it was super hot), onion rings were crunchy and fat, tasted good but not great. Hubby's chicken sandwich looked appetizing he enjoyed it. Along with fries. Lavender lemonade drink was refreshing and hubby tried the beer, it was ok, but nothing to get tickled about. I wondered in here on a Saturday morning to find a football game on tv. First impression was that Service is amazing. Friendly and fast, and possibly the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Who has house vodka infused with horse radish? These guys! And while I only had the Buffalo cauliflower (which was great), the rest of the food looked incredible as it came out. We shared some appetizers at The Bier Garden with some friends. This place is totally cool. Chill vibe, really cool interior, nice bar, open and airy, patio. Excellent service (sorry I don't remember our server's name, but she was awesome!). The Bier Garden has it all! What we ate: Kung Pao Calamari: Expertly fried calamari strips with Asian veggies, crispy rice noodles, peanuts and chilis in a ridiculously good sauce. Short Rib Nachos: Tortilla chips loaded with shredded braised short rib meat - and they piled it on! Then the layers of flavor began. Bier cheese sauce, mango salsa, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli and a sprinkling of cotija cheese round out this delectable treat. Washed it all down with a couple beers...uh, biers. So I went to Carlsbad to see my cousin. We got: Tennessee Hot Chicken (brunch version) , Avocado toast?, for the amazingly fit guest who had just finished a spin class (and was obviously sent to brunch with us by god to be the angel on my shoulder, but the devil won this day) Baja Fish tacos for me, and some cocktails. I do not write many reviews but I was frustrated with my experience. I ordered the Farmhouse Burger, my wife the SoCal Chicken Salad and my daughter the Baja Fish Tacos. Overall service was poor. If it wasn't for Scott helping out our server, the experience would have been even worse. Thank you Scott! The rest of the service team had trouble recognizing an empty glass and what to do about it. The ladies enjoyed their meals but I was not very satisfied with mine. I felt the burger was on the small side and the waffle fries were also under portioned. Not a huge deal as I did not want to over eat and I wanted to make this a positive experience for everyone. I did have a bite of the fish taco which was good, I may have had a better review of the food if I went that route. My wife enjoyed her salad as well. What did surprise me was the check. I do not mind paying a premium for good food and good service. I generally tip at or above 20% to show appreciate for both. This place had neither yet it was worked into their pricing and an additional surcharge of 3.5% on top of that. If you need to increase prices then do it on the menu so we know what we are paying for. My burger and fries cost more than a similar item at a recent airport where they are known to jack up the prices and the airport food was better. I have been by this restaurant many times and was looking forward to trying it with my family. In the end, it did not meet our expectations. I hope others have a better experience. read more

I've been here twice but only for brunch, I had the lump crab Benedict with hollandaise sauce most recently while my wife had the veggie scramble. Both dishes were good but not great, my Benedict could've used more actual lump crab however the flavors worked very well. The restaurant as a whole is doing great during this entire COVID situation. The new aesthetics look amazing. However, the uniform button-ups and the tacky aprons do not add to it though. This is a place where people are comfortable and relaxed. Don't get me wrong, but I believe biergarden is not as luxurious as the uniforms convey. I appreciate everyone that is working still and although the staff has changed a bit from my previous review my interactions with Grace, Amber, Steve, Ashley, Sara and Marie are always fantastic and they're always fun to have behind the bar. The wait staff, bussers and cooks are always doing a top notch service. My first recommendation to every new person I meet is to drop by this lovely place. Good beer & cocktail selection. Ordered the Herbal Bloody Mary, which came with a 4oz side of beer (any beer!) For food, I had the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich with Waffle Fries - very good! It was great food and drinks, but the service was below average. Our server was not friendly at all and only came to our table twice the entire visit (once to take orders and once to bring the check). I went with friends and she dropped off the check, which was all lumped together instead of asking how we would like it split. When we asked for a pen so we could write how it should be split, she didn't offer to split it up and seemed annoyed that we were splitting the check. Other than that, it was a nice time! read more

They added extra outdoor seating due to COVID, and I really hope it stays because it allows for so many extra people to be able to dine.
