The restaurant as a whole is doing great during this entire COVID situation. The new aesthetics look amazing. However, the uniform button-ups and the tacky aprons do not add to it though. This is a place where people are comfortable and relaxed. Don't get me wrong, but I believe biergarden is not as luxurious as the uniforms convey. I appreciate everyone that is working still and although the staff has changed a bit from my previous review my interactions with Grace, Amber, Steve, Ashley, Sara and Marie are always fantastic and they're always fun to have behind the bar. The wait staff, bussers and cooks are always doing a top notch service. My first recommendation to every new person I meet is to drop by this lovely place. It was great food and drinks, but the service was below average. Our server was not friendly at all and only came to our table twice the entire visit (once to take orders and once to bring the check). I went with friends and she dropped off the check, which was all lumped together instead of asking how we would like it split. When we asked for a pen so we could write how it should be split, she didn't offer to split it up and seemed annoyed that we were splitting the check. Other than that, it was a nice time! read more

This place has an open air concept where you can totally people watch from the bar seating. We grabbed seats right next to the front and you are able to see who comes and goes. After hearing so many great things about this place I finally got to try it out! My boyfriend and I came here around 4pm, upon entry we were asked to show ID. I was confused, I thought this place was more of a restaurant not a bar; but I was completely wrong. My boyfriend told the bouncer he wasn't drinking so I just had to show ID since I planned to. I was a little taken back by this, since I never intended to go to a "bar". Once we got brought to our table outside we knew it wasn't going to work. The high tables outside are so close together my boyfriend and I couldn't fit at all, we couldn't even get a leg in. So we planned to just go back inside and ask for a different table but luckily we found another one outside that was by itself and more far apart. We finally sat and our waiter came over, I ordered the hearty Bloody Mary. Moments go by and my drink comes and I immediately knew it was not what I ordered. I told him and he agreed and apologized, he said the drink itself was correct but not the toppings. Not sure if I believed that, but either way I accepted the toppings. He brought over a plate with the correct ones and I was still able to keep the other ones. Sweet! The Bloody Mary was very delicious and the toppings were amazing especially the bacon! We ordered the ceviche as an appetizer and I ordered the crab sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. The ceviche was excellent! My boyfriend and I both agreed it was probably the best ceviche we've had, there was tons of fish in it and had excellent flavor. My crab sandwich was delicious as well the bread was so good and soft, the taste overall was incredible. My boyfriend also thought his buffalo chicken sandwich was one of the best he's had. The first 15 minutes here wasn't good but after that we had a great time. The food was so good it definitely made up for it. The service on the other hand lacked severely our waiter never came by once we got our food, after we ordered we were just invisible to him. Biergarten is an all around fun place! The atmosphere is very laidback and all of the staff is very nice. They added extra outdoor seating due to COVID, and I really hope it stays because it allows for so many extra people to be able to dine. Bar & Grills seem to be a rising trend near the beach. There have always been a couple of good ones around, but lately there has been a huge upswing in these places popping up along the coast and they all seem to follow the same checklist: Street locale no more than 4 blocks from the water? Check... Open area seating with a good enough view? Check... Pictures of sailors and surfers taken from stock photo sites on the internet? Check... Many a beer with wild and unruly names? Check... The word 'AIOLI' used at least 5 times or more on the menu? Check... Now, don't get me wrong, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. These guys did an amazing job giving it a great look and pleasant atmosphere. It's in downtown Encinitas, right on the main thoroughfare, with an open view of the shops. Polished wood in the interior, cool decorations, and a long bar with a perfect display of everything on tap. If you're looking for a place to hang out with friends for a long and breezy lunch with a glass of a cool sounding beer that you'll never order again, this is the definite place to go. But we were here for dinner... And on that note, the place falls a bit flat. My girlfriend and I each got a burger, a simple thing to get, but also something that any grill should get a good beat on how to make before serving. The meat was alright, served rare and juicy, but it was bland and unseasoned. This would have been alright if I had ordered BG Burger with a salty bleu cheese and sweet onions with it, but on the regular 101, even their 'secret BG sauce' didn't do anything to flavor the meal. Then again, my girlfriend had that BG Burger and noted that the onions were underdone, still crunchy without any of their inherent sweetness caramelized out of them. So, maybe not. Each burger came with criss-cut fries, frozen out of a bag and reheated, a bit cold and also under seasoned with many fries being tiny slivers that had been on the cooking sheet from the previous order. So, really excited to come here, always pass it by and finally had the opportunity to go, came away disappointed. I might get the chance to try another couple of dishes to get a better sample of the fare, but as it stands now, the basics are a bit lacking on the simplest of dishes. That's not to say this place isn't go-able. With that open atmosphere and the array of alcohol to select from, it is a good place to gather and hang for a few hours while you get louder and happier with each round. OK this place is pretty damn cool in ambiance, decor and staffing. But the food prices are pretty ridiculous. Nothing under $11.00 and portions are tiny. They have only been open about a month or so and I've heard they don't have their entire menu published and/or up[ and running yet so I'm gonna give them a break. Their scallops are freaking amazing and they have a dog patio. So three stars for now. I had a quinoa burger for the first time here. It was fantastic. The flavor was good, swiss, avo, lettuce and tomato. It was very hard to eat because the quinoa won't stay together, it just crumbles so a knife and fork are key. It was slow even though it was HH all night but fine by us. Nice night on the patio. Love the atmosphere. Cute, trendy little spot in encinitas next to Whole Foods with a great and expansive craft beer selection. The name caught my eye, but is a little deceiving as it's not really a "beer garden" but a cool restaurant or gastro-type pub serving awesome looking (and I'm sure tasting) food with some plants on the back patio. I like the fact that there's a patio, considering the weather and beach being gorge on a sunny day, making a drink and food easily enjoyable. It's a little on the expensive side, not gonna lie. But you pay for the experience. $7 a beer and about $9 a cocktail is pricier than most dive bars or breweries I'm used to. I recently revisited the Bier Garden on a double date and while I'm still impressed with the ambiance, I'm not quite as impressed with the food. It's not bad by any means but it's just not quite at an impressive enough level to warrant the higher than average prices. I ordered the mac and cheese as I'm on a quest for an amazing mac and cheese in San Diego. It was perfectly adequate but the cheezeit crumbles didn't add enough originality to the dish. My date wasn't very impressed with his veggie sandwich, which includes oven roasted portabella, pea shoots, bell peppers, grilled squash, roasted tomato, feta, arugula pesto on ciabatta, either but did say that the criss cross cut fries were pretty good. The $13 price tag does seem a little pricey for a simple veggie sandwich though. read more

The first two were spicy but delicious - we couldn't stop eating. I even dunk french fries in the kung pao sauce to be able to finish the veggies. Chicken tenders were juicy and flavorful. The churro donut and the ice cream were perfect together - super sweet churro with not so sweet ice cream. When the bill came I had 10 beers instead of 8 and obviously the other one I order on the side. The server basically told me I was lying and she even had the idea of showing me the time stamps of my orders. 8:24, 8:29, 8:35... I can't believe she added 3 of the same beer almost at the same time. When we are slow drinking the glass of beer. She basically told me I was lying and that she was right. At the point I said just charge my card I want to leave, but instead she send her manager to the table. He took off the 2 beers, but her attitude and the situation ruined what was supposed to be a nice Thursday night. Way turned off by the guy who served our drinks. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and he came over with 2 wine glasses that were just really disgustingly dirty and when asked if we could get a different glass, I saw him roll his eyes. I'm really tolerant of shit but when your glass is so stained by your greasy fingers and I can't tell without wiping the glass, then please dude, clean your hands and do me a solid and give me a clean glass. Sheesh. I really wanted to smack him in the face. I watched him the rest of the time with other table. Just one of those people that hate his job, hate people that complain and I get it.
