The food was incredible! Loved the potions and the taste. The prices were in alignment with the food and worth every bit. Service was responsive and friendly. Looking forward to returning!!

The Big Biscuit definitely gives chain vibes (iykyk) but nonetheless, it WAS good! I got the biscuits and gravy with a side order of of a sunny side up egg as well as a pot of coffee for the table. This meal basically cured my hangover. Service was great too! We were able to walk in and get seated immediately on a sunday morning around 10:30 am. When we left after 11 there for sure was a wait time though. I don't think I would have chose this place if I was in charge of picking out the brunch spot (no alcohol drinks!) but I for sure wasn't mad. Overall, great food...lots of options and honestly everything sounded amazing, and great service....plus a patio!!

Yum yum yum!!! While visiting KC I typed in best breakfast near me, and big biscuit popped up first on the list. So I knew instantly had to give it a go. It did not disappoint! I first tried the cowboy grits which had amazing flavor and right consistency. Then went for a scramble, and got gravy on the side with my biscuit. If I would have known the entree was going to be so much food I would have skipped the grits lol. Everything was hearty, filling and delicious. My only drawback is I wish they were in Charlotte NC!

Guess what? The Big Biscuit started in Independence. Yeah, I didn't know either, but it did - and it's slowly taking over the Midwest. This location is popular, which is a good problem. Thankfully, I snagged a spot on the Yelp waitlist before I began my journey, so I didn't have to wait long for a table. The farm-to-table inspired dishes fill a couple of menu pages. Whatever you choose will be served in large portions, so don't feel bad if you take leftovers home with you. My chicken fried steak was delicious, though I don't remember the menu or my server mentioning the extra charge for a side of gravy for my biscuit. Regardless, it was mighty tasty and it hit the spot.

Ordering carry out... a breeze! Close to home.. so a short route round trip! Carry out counter pickup instead of by the door shelves.. theft proof! Thanks for that! Home sweet home enjoyment because these cinnamon roll pancakes is all you need!

You can clearly tell by the amount of check-ins that I have here that it's become my go to for breakfast. The food always comes out quick, hot and fresh. The food keeps me full ALL day. The service is top notch and the ladies in there have begun to know us by heart. Always have good conversations when we sit at the counter. Going on the weekend, make sure you use Yelp to signup on the waitlist before you get there, it absolutely cuts down on the wait time.

Came in on a Saturday around 8 am with a party of 6 and was immediately seated. Pretty large seating area with a small area with bar seating for those that are solo. We had quite a bit of stuff off of the menu and thought all of it was above average but not outstanding. The pros are that it's easy to get a table, even with a large group and the food comes out fast with decent portions. Coffee was pretty good but again like the food, not great. Reasonable prices.

I picked up my favorite breakfast item: cinnamon pancakes. These are the best you'll ever have! Fast service for carry out, no fuss

My wife and I visited on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. The place is very spacious, almost as if it was a sports bar with lots of TV's hanging on the walls. The endless hot coffee was a great perk. My wife was eager to try their biscuits and gravy, while I was in the mood for something traditional. We were both happy to find exactly what we wanted on the menu. I ordered waffles with two eggs cooked to my liking, sausage patties, and a choice of grits or potatoes. I opted for the grits, which I love but rarely see on breakfast menus. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely be back when we're in town to try more breakfast items.

Man this place hit the spot. The biscuits are incredible with the gravy. I love places like this with great ingredients and food. The severs here are amazing. Multiple servers came to check on us and just ask us what brought us to town. I think that deserves a great review and I hope management knows what a great crew they have. They should definitely be rewarded for their exemplary service.

For the time and day we went (Saturday), my party of people were seated fairly quickly! We were constantly asked by several people that worked here if we had everything we needed or if we have been helped. The service was amazing, very informative, and patient with all of our questions. The food looked and tasted great as well and I look forward to my next visit at this establishment! :)

Big Biscuit locally owned In Missouri started in Independence where I use to live and every weekend the wait was out the door, every lunch the place was packed. The Westport location is spacious, tall ceilings and can accommodate large parties with ease. They now have 28 locations, 14 in Missouri, 14 in neighboring States, owned and operated local. Yes there biscuits are big, flaky and so good with butter or their very good sausage gravy. For our Yelp event a pumpkin pancake was the starter and sooo good, light in pumpkin perfectly spiced. For breakfast I indulged with the Rocky Mountain Scram-bowl eggs smoked ham green papers onions potatoes and cheddar cheese! Big biscuit with gravy and a very large pour-over coffee with whipped cream (but not swirled on top) And to add to this fun event our server, Kendra, was an added cherry on top! What a personality and I 100% admire the servers who can make your dining experience memorable. She left all of us with a message of positivity on our To go boxes for the day. Thank Yelp and Sarah for a fun event

I was lucky enough to make the guest list of a media list to try this place! This event was fantastic. You can tell the team at The Big Biscuit were so excited to host us and the Yelp Elites were equally excited to be there. Most of the group seemed to have been there before, but this was first visit to any of their locations. Obviously not my last, since I've already been back!! The offerings was a great sampling of their menu. Starter was the seasonal pancake (pumpkin) and then I ordered one of the western sodas! The waitstaff offered up her favorite: The Stallion (Dr. Pepper, Coconut cream and Lime) and I was immediately hooked!!! Always take the advice of the staff, they know what's best. Then for my main I tried the Rocky Mountain Scramble. It was a like a Denver Omelette with the addition of Breakfast Potatoes! Delicious and Super filling, it's 3 eggs. It also comes with a biscuit. Finally, dessert was served: Sticky Biscuit (it's their signature biscuit covered in cinnamon sugar syrup of a sticky bun) and Strawberry Shortcake Bonuts (beignets and donuts covered with thick whipped cream and fresh strawberries). Both were excellent, but a little too sweet for me. I would probably split the Sticky Biscuit again. I highly recommend all the items I tried and I've already been back to another Big Biscuit next to me! Breakfast food is my greatest weakness, so AMAZING Breakfast food... I didn't stand a chance. LOL.

My wife and I shared the meat lovers breakfast burrito and it was good size and filled with the filling. The sauce on top had a little kick to it but that could have been the veggies on top, but would get it again. Our friend got the breakfast enchiladas and said it was very good, she likes the green sauce over the red. I didn't personally try so I can't say how it was. My son ordered the traditional breakfast, and that's exactly what it was, but he liked it. The pancakes are the size of the plate and had a fluffy center and crispy edges. We did have to ask for more syrup because they were so big. The only reason it was not a 5 was because I felt the waitress could have been around more. I felt that since we had a group of 7 and the gratuity was already added she didn't worry about it. Our waters went empty and we had to ask a different waiter for more water and syrup, when she came over the water was warm and didn't have any ice. A kid spilled her syrup we went and asked for a rag and we cleaned it up which we expected but we had to flag someone down to see if she could get more syrup. I just felt she wasn't as attractive as she could have been. We went there on a Monday around 9:45, so it wasn't extremely busy. I would say that you should try it, it was good food!

The baristas were all very friendly and helpful, which I appreciated + the space was great with an open kitchen concept/plenty of seating. This seems like a great spot to work from, although they also had a wonderful (windy) rooftop to sit on also.. that looked like it had a fireplace for chillier days- so cozy. Best coffee in KC.

To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.
